The point is not "these two are identical", it is "these two take a theme in different directions".

Both are indeed violent. (Let's face it, deciding to kill a child, even to save an entire city, is a bit on the violent side.) But Undyne will take a fatal blow to save a child, while Dedan will not help someone with a problem that overwhelms them, that he could easily eliminate, just to be a dick.

That's why I want to hang out and cook something with Undyne and I think Dedan deserves to be beaten to death with a baseball bat.
