And I don't use an app. I press the power and volume rockers on my phone at the same time.
Most android phones have something similar to that. Alternatively on a sony phone you can hold down the power button to take one (see pic related)

>>2983 First you would need a launcher, Nova is considered the overall best, but there are others that are good too. Action Launcher is great too if you want something a little different.
Then there is zooper widget, which you can use to get some neat elements to your homescreen like clocks, and other bits of highly customizable elements.
And at last, you have your icon packs, pick the one you like and theme around it or the pick one to suite your theme.
Really simple and requiring no root.
