Ayy lads, four days until the equinox. What ideas and plans are had for appropriate celebration? Whether you're calling her Eostre or Ostara, what rituals do you have lined up?

Does anyone have an actual calendar marked for a typical year, or are we still waiting for something like that?

How do I celebrate Ostara? I'm pretty new to Asatru. I will be alone as well.

From what I understand, the eggs and rabbit stuff is still applicable to Ostara since the Christians stole it, and all.

Sacrificing to the gods wouldn't hurt, either. It doesn't need to be hefty, though. Only if you want it to be.

So go get a chocolate rabbit and leave some food near your shrine if you have one or in the forest for your ancestors.

Also how do I build a shrine? Thought that shit was for wiccans. If I don't have the time or money, ill leave some food in the forest (or the woods).

Nah, our ancestors built places of worship to honor the gods.

My suggestion is to get your hands on some hand-carved idols of gods that resonate with you the most (Thor, Odin, Frigga, etc.).

Doesn't have to be elaborate, it could be in the corner of your home somewhere.

I think Odin would be good for me. When I get this Altar or Shrine up- what else do I do? Just leave food there quietly or do I have to say something?

You could pray. It isn't exclusive to the semite cults.

But do be aware, prayer for the gods isn't groveling or self-flaggelation. It's like having a conversation with your kin, as if they're coming over for a visit.

Remember, Odin is called the Allfather for a reason.

You can leave offerings of food if you'd like (I suggest pouring out libations if you can).

I'm probably going to pour out some wine for the gods tomorrow don't get too fussy, I don't have any mead.

I don't have any pendants or statues yet, so I'll probably spend some time outside in nature.

Remember, the gods don't need you to be a groveling slave. You're their kinsman.

If you offer anything freely without being stingy, they'll smile upon you.
