What is Asatru?

Long before Christianity came to northern Europe, the people there – our ancestors – had their own form of spirituality that influenced every aspect of their culture. One expression of this European spirituality was Asatru. It was practiced in the lands that are today Scandinavia, England, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and other countries as well. Asatru is the original, or native, religion for the peoples who lived in these regions. Nevertheless, Asatru is more than just a religion in the narrow sense of the word. It is our way of being in the world; some of us call it the “Germanic Folkway” to underline this larger concept.

What does the word “Asatru” mean?

It means, roughly, “belief in the Gods” or “those true to the Gods” in Old Norse, the language of ancient Scandinavia in which so much of our source material was written. (A more literal translation would be “gaining experience of the ancestral sovereign gods.”) Asatru is a name given to the religion of the Norsemen, but we use this term to include the spiritual worldview of all the Germanic peoples, not just the Scandinavians.

When did Asatru start?

Asatru is thousands of years old (though it is practiced in a modern form today, to meet the needs of our age). Its beginnings are lost in prehistory, but it is older than Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, or most other religions. The spirit it expresses, though, is as ancient as the northern European peoples themselves because it is an innate expression of who and what we are – not merely a set of arbitrary beliefs we have adopted.

Why do we need Asatru? Aren’t most people who want religion satisfied with Christianity or one of the other “established” religions?

People are attracted to the better-known religions because they have genuine spiritual needs which must be filled. People are looking for community, fellowship, and answers to the “big questions”: the purpose of life, how we should live it, and what happens after death. For many people today, the so-called major faiths do not have answers that work. Asatru does. Once seekers realize that there is another way – a way that is true to our innermost essence – they will not be satisfied with anything less than a return to the Way of their ancestors.

Why is the religion of our ancestors the best one for us?

Because we are more like our ancestors than we are like anyone else. We inherited not only their general physical appearance, but also their predominant mental, emotional, and spiritual traits. We think and feel more like they did; our basic needs are most like theirs. The religion which best expressed their innermost nature – Asatru – is better suited to us than is some other creed which started in the Middle East among people who are essentially different from us. Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are alien religions that do not truly speak to our souls.

Why did Asatru die out if it was the right religion for Europeans?

Asatru was subjected to a violent campaign of repression over a period of hundreds of years. Countless thousands of people were murdered, maimed, and exiled in the process. The common people (your ancestors!) did not give up their cherished beliefs easily. Eventually, the monolithic organization of the Christian church, bolstered by threats of economic isolation and assisted by an energetic propaganda campaign, triumphed over the valiant but unsophisticated tribes.

Or so it seemed! Despite this persecution, elements of Asatru continued down to our own times – often in the guise of folklore – proving that our own native religion appeals to our innermost beings in a fundamental way. Now, a thousand years after its supposed demise, it is alive and growing. Indeed, so long as there are men and women of European descent, it cannot really die because it springs from the soul of our people.

Asatru isn’t just what we believe, it’s what we are.

Wasn’t the acceptance of Christianity a sign of civilization – a step up from barbarism?

No. The so-called “barbarians” who followed Asatru (the Vikings, the various Germanic tribes, and so forth) were the source of our finest civilized traditions – trial by jury, parliaments, Anglo Saxon Common Law, the right to bear arms, and the rights of women, to name a few. Our very word “law” comes from the Norse language, not from the tongues of the Christian lands. We simply did not, and do not, need Christianity or other Middle Eastern creeds in order to be civilized.

You say Asatru was the religion of the Vikings, among other early European cultures. Weren’t they a pretty bloodthirsty lot?

Modern historians agree that the Vikings were no more violent than the other peoples of their times. Remember, the descriptions of Viking raids and invasions were all written by their enemies, who were hardly unbiased. Both the Islamic and Christian cultures used means every bit as bloody, if not more so, than the Norsemen. It was a very rough period in history for all concerned!

We keep talking about the Vikings. Does this mean that Asatru is only for people of Scandinavian ancestry?

No. Asatru, as practiced by the Norse peoples, had so much in common with the religion of the other Germanic tribes, and with their cousins the Celts, that it may be thought of as one version of a general European religion. Asatru is a natural religion for all people of European origin, whether or not their heritage is specifically Scandinavian.

What are the basic tenets or beliefs of Asatru?

We believe in an all-pervading divine essence which is beyond our immediate understanding. We further believe that this spiritual reality is interdependent with us – that we affect it, and it affects us.

We believe that this divine essence expresses itself to us in the forms of the Gods and Goddesses. Stories about these deities are like a sort of code, the mysterious “language” through which the divine reality speaks to us.

We believe in standards of behavior which are consistent with these spiritual truths and harmonious with our deepest being.

How does Asatru differ from other religions?

Asatru is unlike the better-known religions in many ways. Some of these are:

• We are polytheistic. That is, we believe in a number of deities, including Goddesses as well as Gods. (We have a tongue-in-cheek saying that a religion without a Goddess is halfway to atheism!)

• We do not accept the idea of “original sin,” the notion that we are tainted from birth and therefore intrinsically bad. Thus, we do not need “saving.”

• We do not claim to be a universal religion, a faith for all of humankind. In fact, we don’t think such a thing is possible or desirable. The different branches of humanity have different ways of looking at the world, each of which is valid for the ancestral group in question. It is only right that they have different religions.

Do you consider the Norse myths to be true?

The myths are stories about the Gods and Goddesses of Asatru. We believe they are ways of stating spiritual truths. That is, we would say they contain truths about the nature of divinity, our own nature, and the relationship between the two. We do not contend that the myths are literally true, as history. Rather, myth can be thought of as “the dream of the race” or “that which never happened, but is always true.”

What about these Gods and Goddesses? Are they real?

Yes, they are real. However, just as most Christians do not think their God is really an old bearded figure sitting on a golden chair in heaven, we do not believe Thor (for example) is actually a muscular, man-shaped entity carrying a big hammer. There is a real Thor, but we approach an understanding of him through this particular mental picture.

Do followers of Asatru pray to their Gods and Goddesses?

Yes, but not quite the way most people mean by the word. We never surrender our will to theirs or humble ourselves before them, because we see ourselves as their kin, not as their property. Nor do we beg and plead. We do, however, commune with them and honor them while seeking their blessing through formal rites and informal meditation. Actually, living a full and virtuous life is a form of prayer in itself. Our religion should affect all parts of our lives, not just some fragments that we choose to call “religious.”

Don’t you worship stones and trees and idols?

No. We know that trees, wooden statues, the Sun, and other natural or man-made objects are not Gods, so we don’t worship them. We do sometimes use these items as reminders of a God or Goddess, but we would never confuse them with the actual deity!

You mentioned certain standards of behavior taught in Asatru. What are these?

Some of the qualities we hold in high regard are strength, courage, joy, honor, freedom, loyalty to kin, realism, vigor, and the revering of our ancestors. To express these things in our lives is virtuous, and we strive to do this. Their opposites – weakness, cowardice, adherence to dogma rather than to the realities of the world, and the like – constitute our vices and are to be avoided. Proper behavior in Asatru consists of maximizing one’s virtues and minimizing one’s vices.

This code of conduct reflects the highest and most heroic ideals of our people.

Don’t all religions believe in these things you’ve just named?

No. People may honestly believe that this is the case, but examination does not bear this out. They believe in freedom on the one hand, yet at the same time admit they are slaves to their God. They agree that joy is good, but their teachings laden them with guilt because of some imaginary “original sin.” They want to accept the real world on a pragmatic basis, yet they are trained to believe without questioning when the teachings of their religion conflict with reason or with known facts about the nature of the world (“You must have faith.”).

Of course, many people believe in the values of Asatru on a gut level. After all, they’re instinctive, passed down to us from our ancestors. We want to believe that the better-known religions espouse those values, so we see what we want to see. Most people just haven’t yet realized that the major religions are saying things that conflict with the values we know in our hearts are right. To find European virtues, one has to look to a religion truly consistent with those virtues – Asatru.

What do you have to say about good and evil?

Good and evil are not constants. What is good in one case will not be good in another, and evil in one circumstance will not be evil under a different set of conditions. In any one instance, the right course of action will have been shaped by the influence of the past and the present. The result may or may not be “good” or “evil,” but it will still be the right action.

In no case are good and evil dictated to us by edicts written by an authoritarian deity. We are expected to use our freedom, responsibility, and awareness of duty to serve the highest and best ends.

What does Asatru teach about an afterlife?

We believe that there is an afterlife, and that those who have lived lives of virtue and power will go on to experience greater fulfillment, pleasure, and challenge. Those who have led lives characterized by vice, weakness, and a low level of consciousness will be separated from kin, doomed to a vegetative state of dullness and gloom. The precise nature of the afterlife – what it will look like and feel like – is beyond our understanding and is dealt with symbolically in the myths.

There is also a tradition in Asatru of rebirth within the family line. Perhaps the individual is able to choose whether or not he or she is re-manifested in this world, or there may be natural laws governing this. In a sense, of course, we all live on in our descendants quite apart from an afterlife as such.

To be honest, we of Asatru do not overly concern ourselves with the next world. We live here and now, in this existence. If we do this and do it well, the next life will take care of itself.

Does Asatru involve ancestor worship?

Asatru says we should honor our ancestors. It also says we are bonded to those ancestors in a special way. One of the implications of this relationship is that the ancestors need our veneration, and that they reciprocate by looking out for us from beyond death.

We also believe our forebears have passed to us certain spiritual qualities just as surely as they have given us various physical traits. They live on in us. The family or clan is above and beyond the limits of time, space, and mortality.

Does Asatru have a holy book, like the Bible?

No. There are written sources that are useful to us because they contain much of our sacred lore in the form of myths and examples of right conduct, but we do not accept them as infallible or inspired documents. Any religion holding such beliefs of infallibility is deceived about the purity and precision of the written word.

There are two real sources of holy truth, and neither expresses itself to us in words. One is the universe around us, which is a manifestation of the underlying divine essence. The other is the universe inside us, passed down from our ancestors as instinct, emotion, innate predispositions, and perhaps even racial memory. By combining these sources of internal and external wisdom with the literature left us by our ancestors, we arrive at religious truths. This living spiritual guidance is better than any dusty, dogmatic “holy book”.

I’ve heard Asatru described as a “Nature religion”. What does that mean?

We treasure the spiritual awe, the feeling of “connecting” with the Gods and Goddesses, which can come from experiencing the beauty and majesty of Nature. Our deities act in and through natural law. By working in harmony with Nature we can become co-workers with the Gods. This attitude removes the opposition between “natural” and “supernatural”, and the supposed conflict between religion and science.

For us, following a “Nature religion” means recognizing that we are part of Nature, subject to all its laws. We may be Gods-in-the-making, but we are members of the animal kingdom nonetheless!

Where did the universe come from, according to Asatru?

Our myths describe the beginning of the universe as the unfolding of a natural process, rather than an event requiring supernatural intervention. Followers of Asatru need not abandon modern science to retain their religion. The old lore of our people describes the interaction of fire and ice, and the development of life from these – but this is symbolic, and we will leave it to the physicists to discover how the universe was born.

What are the runes, and what do they have to do with Asatru?

Runes are ancient Germanic symbols representing various concepts or forces in the universe – the holy mysteries. Taken together, they express our ancestors’ worldview. Their meanings are intimately connected with the teachings of Asatru. Our myths tell the story of how Odin, father of the Gods, won them through painful ordeal so that Gods and humans alike might benefit from their wisdom.

How is Asatru organized?

There is no all-powerful spiritual leader who speaks for all of Asatru, but there are numerous leaders who speak to and for their particular constituencies. While Asatru has definite principles accepted by most of our adherents, we generally allow a considerable degree of freedom in interpreting religious truth.

>mfw people deny that the gods are real

Does this piss anyone else off? Of course the gods are "literally" real. Our ancestors did not perform their burials as some figurative "symbolical" gesture. They considered the gods as real beings, as real as you or I, and as a living presence. If you don't literally believe in the gods you aren't a heathen. You're still a cultural Christian, though even worse, because instead of giving our ancestors the respect of outright preaching against their "false gods", you try to pervert & trivialize their faith. Odin is real. Freya is real. Thor is real. They are literally existing entities, and have always been seen as such.

WHAT IS YOUR POWER LEVEL?

1) A convert to Asatru should drop any Biblical name such as Michael, Adam, Johnathan, as well as (if a woman) feminine derivatives like Michelle

2) A convert to Asatru should specifically adopt an indigenous Germanic name (Henry, William) as opposed to a generally European name (Alexander)

3) A convert to Asatru should specifically adopt the original of a Germanic name (Haimiric instead of Henry, Wilhelm instead of William, Chlodowig instead of Louis, etc.)

4) Meh, names don't really matter

I was wondering if we could get a dedicated PDF thread going, and have it as either a Sticky, or referred to in the in Master Sticky: >>2 so that it can be quickly and efficiently found by newbies.

We can also have a system where if you want to share a pdf, you start your own Mega account and just share your secure link. Then others can download your pdf to their computer and then upload it to their Mega account, and you can download their pdfs to your computer and then upload them to your Mega accounts.

That way, we can have multiple mirrors of our pdf collections in the event that SHTF, and do so in a secure fashion that is void of open usernames and passwords, and direct sharing of Mega accounts that can be exploited by hacker trolls.

Runes for Self-discipline

I've been looking for runes or bind runes to associate with each of the nine noble virtues. Does this exist already?

Discipline is currently the concept I'm focusing on for improvement so I've been toying with formulating a rune to represent self-discipline. I've heard that Thursiaz is sometimes taken to mean self-discipline, I'm not sure how accurate that is though.

I've combined Teiwaz (analysis, rationality) and Ehwaz (movement) to represent self-discipline.

Does anyone have any better suggestions for runes or bind runes to represent self-discipline? How about for the rest of the nine noble virtues?

Vinland

As an Asatru American I sometimes feel ashamed that I do not live in Europe but when I look at the state Europe is currently in I rather live here.

My question is for anyone who lives in America or even Europeans with an outside observation. Does being an American really make anyone disingenuous to the Asatru faith? Or rather "fake" or a "poser"?

I also contended that the gods are with the folk rather than the place/location. I mean did the Kievian Rus stop believing when they moved from Sweden to Russia? Or did the Icelanders stop believing when they sail from Norway to new lands? In fact one of those new lands was America (Vinland).

I just want to put it to rest already that America or being an American does not mean we cannot worship the European gods.

Heathen hairstyles

I'd like to have a thread about Heathen hairstyles. While it may seem a frivolous topic to some, I really enjoy the aesthetics of Heathenism and the Germanic traditions. I want to start incorporating them into my day-to-day life and what a person does with their hair says a lot about a person and varies greatly from culture to culture.
Anyway, I really like Ragnar's hairstyle because it is different from the plain, old long straight hair with beard look. Considering getting it in the future if I grow my hair out but my hair is much thinner so it may not work out. And Lagertha's style is beautiful for a woman's, a favorite of mine as well.
Post your favorite Heathen hairstyles, or your own if it applies!

Hitler Hated Pagans

>On the contrary, it is entirely out of harmony with the spirit of the nation to keep harping on that far-off and forgotten nomenclature which belongs to the ancient Germanic times and does not awaken any distinct association in our age. This habit of borrowing words from the dead past tends to mislead the people into thinking that the external trappings of its vocabulary are the important feature of a movement. It is really a mischievous habit; but it is quite prevalent nowadays.

>At that time, and subsequently, I had to warn followers repeatedly against these wandering scholars who were peddling Germanic folk-lore and who never accomplished anything positive or practical, except to cultivate their own superabundant self-conceit. The new movement must guard itself against an influx of people whose only recommendation is their own statement that they have been fighting for these very same ideals during the last thirty or forty years.

>Nobody of common sense would appoint to a leading post in such a movement some Teutonic Methuselah who had been ineffectively preaching some idea for a period of forty years, until himself and his idea had entered the stage of senile decay.

>Furthermore, only a very small percentage of such people join a new movement with the intention of serving its end unselfishly and helping in the spread of its principles. In most cases they come because they think that, under the aegis of the new movement, it will be possible for them to promulgate their old ideas to the misfortune of their new listeners. Anyhow, nobody ever seems able to describe what exactly these ideas are.

>It is typical of such persons that they rant about ancient Teutonic heroes of the dim and distant ages, stone axes, battle spears and shields, whereas in reality they themselves are the woefullest poltroons imaginable. For those very same people who brandish Teutonic tin swords that have been fashioned carefully according to ancient models and wear padded bear-skins, with the horns of oxen mounted over their bearded faces, proclaim that all contemporary conflicts must be decided by the weapons of the mind alone. And thus they skedaddle when the first communist cudgel appears. Posterity will have little occasion to write a new epic on these heroic gladiators.

>I have seen too much of that kind of people not to feel a profound contempt for their miserable play-acting. To the masses of the nation they are just an object of ridicule; but the Jew finds it to his own interest to treat these folk-lore comedians with respect and to prefer them to real men who are fighting to establish a German State. And yet these comedians are extremely proud of themselves. Notwithstanding their complete fecklessness, which is an established fact, they pretend to know everything better than other people; so much so that they make themselves a veritable nuisance to all sincere and honest patriots, to whom not only the heroism of the past is worthy of honour but who also feel bound to leave examples of their own work for the inspiration of the coming generation.

>Often it is difficult to distinguish between the two classes. The impression which I often get, especially of those so-called religious reformers whose creed is grounded on ancient Germanic customs, is that they are the missionaries and protégés of those forces which do not wish to see a national revival taking place in Germany. All their activities tend to turn the attention of the people away from the necessity of fighting together in a common cause against the common enemy, namely the Jew. Moreover, that kind of preaching induces the people to use up their energies, not in fighting for the common cause, but in absurd and ruinous religious controversies within their own ranks.

>In his memoirs, Nazi architect Albert Speer quotes Hitler on his disdain for SS leader Heinrich Himmler's interest in pagan mysticism & his own support for Christian Charlemagne's butchering of heathen Saxons: "What nonsense! Here we have at last reached an age that has left all mysticism behind it, and now [Himmler] wants to start that all over again. We might just as well have stayed with the church. At least it had tradition. To think that I may some day be turned into an SS saint! Can you imagine it? I would turn over in my grave…"

Allow me to tell my own. This literally happened tonight:

>Go outside on my porch with a good bottle of beer

>hold up the beer and specifically call out to my maternal grandfather as we was my paternal grandmother and grandfather

>I thank them for the sacrifices they made so that I could be as successful as I am

>I tell them I love them

> pour out some beer & take a sip myself

> suddenly feels overwhelming sense of love being directed at me

> at that exact moment, I see the brightest shooting "star" I've ever seen.

>I'm in awe, it was beautiful

>I pour out more beer to my deep ancestors as well as the heroes of old

>take one last sip of beer

On Islam

Where does /asatru/ stand on traditional Islam?

I ask because a friend who had introduced me to politics and Asatru is planning on becoming a Muslim. He says it doesn't conflict with his traditionalist views and in fact supports them. Both Paganism and Islam are worldly, in the Nietzschean sense, in contrast to Christianity which is otherworldly. So basically Asatru and Islam share a common enemy in the Christian, although it still might not be possible for pagans to ally with Muslims.

From Nietzsche:

>If Islam despises Christianity, it has a thousandfold right to do so: Islam at least assumes that it is dealing with men.

>Christianity destroyed for us the whole harvest of ancient civilization, and later it also destroyed for us the whole harvest of Mohammedan civilization. The wonderful culture of the Moors in Spain, which was fundamentally nearer to us and appealed more to our senses and tastes than that of Rome and Greece, was trampled down (—I do not say by what sort of feet—) Why? Because it had to thank noble and manly instincts for its origin—because it said yes to life, even to the rare and refined luxuriousness of Moorish life!… The crusaders later made war on something before which it would have been more fitting for them to have grovelled in the dust—a civilization beside which even that of our nineteenth century seems very poor and very “senile.”

'While both Islam and Asatru can be used to cleanse the West of the Christian virus, including its liberal egalitarianism, it's only in Islam that something is actively being done. Pagans may not gain power soon enough, and it's the Muslims who are doing to Christians what the Christians did to pagans of old. At least this means Muslims cannot raze pagan structures and temples, as there is nothing to raze in the first place.'

This is roughly what my friend says, I'm not sure I fully agree with him and will research this subject further.

Healthy Sexuality in Heathenry

What does healthy sexuality look like in the context of a Heathen worldview and society?

Obviously it is not the out of control promiscuity of the modern world, but I doubt it's the "beg Jesus for forgiveness for rubbing one out" of Christianity either.

Yet there is not too much I can think of that is written down about sexuality from a Heathen perspective outside of a few definites; like a general frowning down on homosexuality, and women cheating on their spouses having their heads shaven and then driven from the village by whipping.

Yet there are also grey areas such as the existence of brothels, though such things existed throughout most, if not all of traditionalist civilization. Even the Christian, Augustine, famously remarked "If you do away with harlots, the world will be convulsed with lust." Looking at the world around us, I think our ancestors were on to something with that one.

What say you fellow Heathens?

Esoteric aspects of the Heathen Mythologies

Wanted to see if we could get a thread started that discusses the more Esoteric aspects of the Exoteric Myths.

There have been hints of such concepts in threads here and there, but not really a concentrated thread.

The closest that I've seen of a thread manifesting this concept is Varg Vikernes' videos, but for whatever reason he doesn't give his sources in said videos.

One esoteric theory I've kicked around (and I imagine others have as well) is that Odin's quest for the Runes is at least partially a metaphor for the power of writing and literacy, in addition to magic.

High Quality Folkish Heathen Propaganda

I feel a bit saddened by the serious lack of any dedicated, consistent, high-quality asatru propaganda efforts drawing fellow potentially like-minded white europeans to our socio-spiritual cause.

The youtube channel of the Odinic Rite for example has mostly just a few handheld camera videos with no narration or any guiding commentary, save for that one video with the british guy in a black shirt talking about Tolkien for two minutes and stuff.

We may be (at least on paper) among the fastest-growing european spiritual movements today, but we still decidedly lack a unified approach to our multimedia endevaours. We could grow and reach critical mass even faster, but for this to suceed we need to have people producing our media who actually know what they're doing.

ITT let us discuss on how to enhance audiovisual asatru agitation and the likes, also let's think of some pro-white greenpilled heathen hashtags as well while we're at it.

Washing with blood.

Or learning from the Mormons.

Hello everybody. I want to share some thoughts and ideas with you. Maybe they already exist, in that case I’d be grateful if you could forward them to me. Apologies for the rambling, but I hope you’ll read it.

Basically a book made me realize, that in the case of Islam, many of its disgusting characteristics already existed before Islam existed. The disgusting nature of those people is not a result of their religion, but the religion is a result of their blood. Now, that should be obvious for most people here.

Secondly, my attention shifted to the Mormons recently and I read up some of their stuff on Wikipedia and realized there are very important differences between how their Church is set up compared to the rest of the Christian churches.

The most important one is that, they proclaim the bible to not be finished. All Mormons are allowed to “receive revelations” for their families. This implies, that the bible, a product of Jewish blood and thought, can be questioned with products of the churches members, mostly Europeans. As a result, this allows the Mormons to become more and more European, as the new revelations are of European origin. It’s not really surprising, that some Churches call the Mormons polytheistic now, is it? This is exactly the direction we’d expect their blood would make them go. Now, Mormons still consider the Bible as legitimate, so they are lost anyway to the eternal cuckening of their holy Jew.

But what does that mean for us? It both means, that without the bible, European faith would be able to regenerate, and that there are many aspects in European religious customs can be used by us if they are not a product of the bible, but a product of the Europeans themselves.

It also means, that if we come up with an idea or an idea will come to us, it surely can change us, but the idea will always be changed more by the blood. As the idea (or meme) is passed on, it should become more and more European.

So what I am suggesting is create knowledge by actively throwing texts, ideas and memes at each other and sort through it by checking what of it all sticks. All work done for European spirituality is ultimately legitimized by our blood, as it is the source of it. This also means, people not of European heritage are to be discriminated as they will distort our endeavour.

Our Christian contamination can be washed away through the masses of people and their blood. Depending on their origin we can adapt and reform Christian practices, destroying their bad parts and keeping the good ones.

That way we will not end up as people re-enacting Bronze age Germans and work our way up, but keep some of the diamonds our blood created in the last hundreds of years.

Earlier this month, a group of Soldiers of Odin were seen on a vigilante walk through the town of Tønsberg in southern Norway.

During what is believed to be the first appearance of Soldiers of Odin groups outside of Finland, some 14 'soldiers' walked around the town on Saturday night."

At the time of my racial awakening I have realized that Christianity had disrupted us from our ethnic spiritual traditions. The more I think about this the more I sense the magnitude of this loss. We often hear about how the Church has disrupted other tribal peoples connection to their heritage, but this disruption happened to Europeans very early on.

The earlier expressions of our race-soul can still be found archived in Christian practice and tradition. Still, this is not the same as a conscious and full awareness of these traditions, nor a full awareness of the spiritual importance of our connection to our past.

werewolf comes from the anglo saxon word "were" (man) and wolf (fucking wolf retard)

its origins are common across many cultures but in terms of germanic and european culture many of the barbarian cultures such as the scythians, celts and germans were known to have rites of passage where a young warrior would wear a wolfskin for a certain amount of time and live as if they were wolves, at the end of which they would become a specialized shock warrior (to the germanics they were called beserks)

werewolves as a myth came out of these traditions when they died down in practice and became more memorized in the sagas and legends as magical and supernatural. werewolves however are different from the mythical beserks in the sagas, as a werewolf actually changes into a wolf and has no choice in the matter, and completely loses his humanity, and usually a werewolf gains it by some curse (a disease from a rapid wolf, blasphemous sacrifice of children to zeus, and wearing wolfskins after killing women were all known to cause lycanthropy as curses). a beserk however is different, they become a beserk not through a curse but a blessing given by odin to his favored warriors. these warriors hoped to gain the attention and favor of the war-gods (NOTICE ME SENPAI) by arrogant boasting, wearing little to no armor in combat and in place elaborate ritual helmets or animal skins, and chanting, or more accurately screaming, war-chants to frighten their enemies, inspire their friends and praise the gods of sword and axe. a beserk had some control over his blessing but it was not total, there are some stories in the sagas where beserks slay their kinsmen in fits of rage or kill an ally in the chaos of battle. however although the beserkergang is essentially about losing the self through trance, war and devotion to odin, this was for a higher purpose and transcendence. the beserks were holy warriors, the zealots of wodanaz and crusaders of the teutonic religion. they lose their humanity in order to become even more human, as in I LIVE, I DIE, I LIVE AGAIN for the memers, even though its a dumb meme from a good movie, the phrase is a pretty good summary of the cult of odin and the purpose of the beserk. werewolves are a cursed reflection of the beserk

now get the fuck out christ shill

Pagan Web Radio stations

As the title implies.

Let's list pagan playlists, web radios (preferably without advertisements) and so on in here.

Music stations only please, and no hipster wicca SJW bullshit stations either.

Right now i'm listening to these here;

"Pagan Pentagram Radio"

"Order of the Dragon" - They have dedicated pagan and neofolk episodes and often play good/obscure stuff, but also lots of experimental shit thrown in.

"Radio Oira" - This one plays latvian/baltic folk music most of the time. Lots of chorus-oriented stuff. Sometimes they also play celtic rock and the like.

"Highlander Radio" - Pretty much self-explanatory. Scottish and irish rock music 24/7. They also play a news segment every hour or so.

There was also a station called "Radio Dark Prélude" which was broadcasting from France, but it unfortunately shut down some time in late 2013. They always played tons of neofolk, martial industrial, pagan and other spiritual exclusively european pro-white music. Pretty much irreplaceable, but it's gone now.

Anyways, these are all the stations i have.

Feel free to contribute and post some songs in here too if you like.

help

alright guys, I know this board is slow now, but a big awakening is going on on /pol/ right now. I am fucking confused now. I just don't know about Christianity anymore. I am sort of Catholic, I used to be atheist, but now I see the cuckoldry that is gripping the church with the new Pope and what not, and protestantism is equally if not more cucked, and orthodoxy is only for slavs and greeks. I have mostly irish heritage with the rest being mostly english and a little bit of a bunch of other european countries. mostly though, like probably 70% is irish, and the rest being mostly english, like 15-25%. So, i have no real connection to the nordic Gods, but to the celtic ones maybe. I looked into celtic paganism but only found sjws and wicca shit. Where can i learn about nationalistic celtic paganism? Where can I learn about the beliefs of my ancestors, and also, how can I be sure that this belief is right? Even though I doubt the Church a lot right now, i still fear hell if I leave. It seems stupid, and it probably is, but I just keep thinking that maybe it could be true and I may be making a big mistake by leaving. Please help.

CHRISTIANITY! THE SAVIOR OF EUROPE!

R: 7 / I: 0 / P: 4

I have a rather long post ahead and have a tl;dr at the bottom, but I'll say here that I'm essentially discussing that I think the discussion here is good, but there should be more of it.

I think that it's clear to everyone that this board is relatively slow. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I think it would be good to see more discussion here - to have more potential for good ideas, information and reading material to be shared, to have more potential to get things done (online and perhaps even offline events, making images/articles/videos/podcasts etc. which advance our cause), and in general to know that there are more of "us" and as such I'd like to discuss the possibility of getting some more like-minded people in here.

That said, I think it's worth considering what I really mean by "us". I think the 8chan /asatru/ community is small because it's the overlapping of already obscure circles of an imaginary Venn diagram. We are Germanic polytheists, which immediately is not a "mainstream" designation. Furthermore, we are almost at or near the folkish end of the folkish-universalist spectrum (perhaps further discussion of this split, and the distinction of "tribalist" as an aside from these two designations, might be useful but for now the "Jarnsaxa scale" described at http://lavrans.tripod.com/20scale.html should suffice with 1 representing the extreme of universalism and 6 the extreme of folkish thought). I don't know exactly what the result would be if we surveyed every Germanic polytheist worldwide; I honestly might not be surprised to find the majority lying in either half of the spectrum, but I feel comfortable in saying that our level of "folkishness" is clearly not representative of a large majority, if a majority at all (indeed, I would say we're likely a minority, though not necessarily a small one). This "circle" of "folkish" within the circle of "Germanic polytheist" has to overlap with the circle of "user of *chan sites other than 4chan" (again, I've no stats to hand but I'm sure it's a small circle we're looking at here) within the circle of "person who uses the internet for much other than facebook and porn".

What are people from non-Nordic backgrounds supposed to do in terms of their paganism? I am an Italian, therefore my people believed in the Roman pantheon of gods. To my knowledge, not that much survived in terms of customs, or at least it has always been buried out of my view.

The few pagans I do see scattered about this website are always, without fail, Nordic pagans. I have never seen an pagan dabbling in Jupiter, Saturn, etc. Am I just ignorant to what is out there or is it true that Cuckstianity has really taken out my people's faith?

R: 14 / I: 2 / P: 5

So I was an atheist, and a christian before, and it should be obvious why I am here. I need help learning how to become pagan. I can't say I believe in gods, but I think of them as laws of nature personified, without a will. This is probably wrong, but I have been a fedora for too long. Most of my ancestors are from Northern Germany/Denmark area, or England. I have found websites but so much of it is sjw, magical shit, or website which supports mutts, or non-European pagans. Any real websites I find have basically the exact same stuff in the sticky (word for word in some cases). The problem of LARPing

Asatru and other related pagan groups are growing quite rapidly, but the one thing that's holding us back is the LARPing. Public image is our best tool at converting people. The key doctrines and theology of asatru is highly compatable with western civilisation, so we just need to break down that autism that lingers on. anyway make a small list to help others avoid LARPing.
>dressing up in middle ages attire
>using old norse versions of words where it's not necessary (calling Easter "Ôstara")
>forcing odd expressions into everyday conversation ("Thank the gods for…" and "By Odins beard!")
>changing your name
remember the main draw of Asatru is it is traditional. LARPing is essentially removing your own culture and implementing a fake idealised version of what you think happened 1000 years ago. this is not traditional.

Pagan tribes in the 21st century - Wolves among the ruins

"As the Hávamál (the words of the High One) says, “Each word led to another word, each deed to another deed.” While words matter, without action, they don’t count for much.

Jack Donovan recently visited a heathen tribe calling itself the Wolves of Vinland in Virginia. (…)

There’s no LARPing, invented aristocracies, or grandiose titles, but men (and, as Jack slightly neglects, women) living with desperate sincerity. Nor is there any pretense that they are actually Vikings or “jarls” of some glorious past – this is real paganism expressed through blood and ash in the here and now.

It’s something that can be done right now – without waiting for a “collapse,” or a metapolitical shift."

Book Of Asatru

GET OFF YOUR LAZY ARSES HEATHENS CAUSE IVE GOT A PROJECT FOR YOU

In related thread >5040 we decided that, to truly establish our faith in a way that it can compete with the Semitic ones, we should compose a book made up from all of the most spiritually important parts of Germanic history. It should weave together history, worldview, myth and conduct into one book. What we are proposing is not a mere intro guide to Asatru but a massive tome, taking up every little piece of lore we can find.

We are not proposing that this become our sacred text to be forced into every temple nor do we claim it to be a Heathen Bible. It will simply be the recorded myths and history of the Germanic tribes, something that can easily be made into a standardized book that can be widely distributed. We have also proposed that art be included in the pages, if any drawfags would be willing to help

Texts that are proposed to be added

Heimskringla

Prose Edda (needs editing)

Poetic Edda

Song of the Sun (needs editing)

Jomviking Saga

Parts of the Nibelungenleid

Select quotes from Tactitus Germania

Niflung Saga

Select stories from the Brothers Grimm, can be edited to have more Heathen tone

Collection of folk songs and war chants

The Berg Dwellers Song

The Dream of the Rood (should be edited to have heathen imagery)

Pow-Wow medicine [not Indjun pow-wow, I mean the stuff used by amish] (needs to be edited for heathen use)

The Rune Poems (Anglo saxon, Icelandic and Nordic)

Pages to illustrate the runes and explain some of their deeper meanings

Collections of prayers, songs and chants

Rules regarding shrines

Volsung Saga

Beowulf

Song of Roland

History of the Goths (and as many other tribes as we can include, of course it will have to be edited down)

If anyone can think of more books or sources to use, please post suggestions. Debate about what books should be included. Edit the more Christian ones without detracting from their original tone.

This is a big project I'm proposing but something I think could really do a lot of good for the Asatru community in terms of spreading the old ways and educating the faithful

Any other suggestions on what to do will be appreciated

Remote Viewing, Viking Style

I was doing experiments with divination, random number generators, and gematria which led me to a couple of new sites including this one:

I have been reading it for a few days. It is interesting to me, a little messy and raw, and not perfect but the man has written a lot and I find some of what he says corresponds with my own experiences and knowledge. It's not good enough for me to recommend to anyone actually wanting to learn stuff but for the experienced and discerning occultist who can pick out the misinformation and get past the odd use of language you may find it intriguing.

I have been primarily interested in what he has had to say about telepathy. I plan on doing my own write up on the matter, I guarantee though I will be much clearer and easy to understand than this guy.

>Ancient Celtic Religion

When thinking of Celtic religion, the first thing that comes to ones mind is generally Druidism, and maybe even Stonehenge. There were many other components to religion in Celtic society before the Common Era, and they were integrated within the daily life, and still remain part of the culture. The sources available are mostly second hand or legends that have become christianised over time, but we can still learn a lot about their beliefs, and how they were intertwined with daily life.

The people who lived 25,000 years ago were in awe of nature. They believed that each aspect of nature, such as rain, rivers; thunder and all other natural evens were personified with their own “deity”. This assigning of Gods to naturally occurring events is called “Animism”. The ancient people believed that a God controlled the rain, a different God controlled the wind and most importantly, a God controlled the hunt. Archaeological evidence suggests our ancestors made use of what is called “sympathetic” magick. To have a successful hunt, the tribe would make a life-like version of the animal they hoped to kill, and would act out the hunt. They believed that this would positively affect the real hunt. Among animism and sympathetic magick, there was also a Goddess of fertility.

There was a high mortality rate and to procreate, the fertility of women and men was extremely important. The Goddess represented childbearing, fertility of people, the earth and animals, and She was as important as the other Gods were.

False Consensus Trolling

Board Owner, I know the perpetual miscegenation promotion D&C thread stimulates post activity and so on, but it's time to do something about it.

An Asatruar does NOT promote miscegenation – to say a mutt can be an Asatruar is to say that he's white and can (therefore) feel free to race mix with a whiter woman than he is to breed back into the fold. Whether or not this is impossible is irrelevant, because it's promoting race mixing. This is the unavoidable logical conclusion of the race-mixing threads. You can see them promoting this as – laughably – 'eugenics' in the thread right now.

I promote /asatru/ on other boards and try to bring more people here because I know there are tons more pagans than post on this board. People have outright said to me that THIS issue is the one that drove them away from the board, which seems to have been going on for quite some time since I started posting here last month.

My solution is not to ban cuck speech; I value less hotpocketeering over more. All that is necessary is a strong, authoritative open and shut statement that mutts cannot be asatruars in the sticky. Something everyone can point the cucks to and say 'look, your views do not belong here. Shape up or start your own board.'

The simple moral authority of that is plenty to cut down on these foot-in-the-door tactics. It's nice to have the christcucks bumping up our PPH and UIDs but not if their trolling becomes 90% of all board activity and it drives people away.

I was walking on a trail pretty far back in the big south fork national park, and I was approached by an old man in a grey jacket with the hood up. While he was still about 45 feet away I saw him bend down and pick something up. As we got closer he said to me "I love this park, the trees are very nice." This is the point I noticed he only had one eye, he looked up at the trees and I saw that his right eye was glass, and didn't move. I told him that I liked the park as well, and that the trees were very nice. He started to take a step and stopped, he gave me a stone (what I'm assuming he picked up) and told me to keep it. This is the stone in the picture. Was I visited by Odin?

Martin Heidegger Asatru Reception

What is your opinion on Martin Heidegger and his spiritual world view /asatru/?

I've been trying to get into his work and determine whether he's more christian or pagan overall, he seems to have mixed the two together to the point where you couldn't even tell them apart anymore, a kind of extreme eurocentric pro-white reaffirming henotheism if you will

Why do you worship mere mortal men, who bleed, eat and breathe? Do you not know the eternal Ahura Mazda, who is not so weak to have let himself be swallowed whole by a common dog? The Prophet Zarathushtra knew Mazda, and he took it upon himself to shape and mold the faith of all the known world, so that they may not be cast with Angra Mainyu, the Dark Spirit, into the fire. Mazda spoke through Zarathushtra, and gifted man with the Avesta and other texts. Come home, Indo-Aryan men! The glory of the true God, Ahura Mazda, is endless, he shall kill the wicked soul, separate the good and the evil, and end the tyranny of "YaHoVaH"!

>Stephen McNallen: Metagenetics – An Update

Ancestry matters. Most Asatruar will agree with that statement, but fewer will understand that the ancestors are with us, now and always, because of the time-transcending nature of the metagenetic bond. To the extent that rebirth occurs within the family line, we are those ancestors, manifested again in Midgard! Furthermore, that bond is special – it is closer than our bond to non-ancestors.

We are not “one.” Although there is a level on which every person is connected through the collective unconscious of humanity as a whole, the closeness of the connections varies immensely. Indeed, to some extent we are linked to all life – but that hardly causes us to value protozoa, goldfish, and camels as much as we do our brother or our father! The degree of connection is determined by similarity.

What are y'all planning on doing for Yuletide?

Yuletime starts sunset on the 22nd this year, and is of course the longest night of the year for the NH, and it lasts twelve days.

My plans are hobby based, rather than being solidified into traditions of their own rights.

First, I will do astronomy on the night of the solstice. I always bake something sweet on my holidays, but I also intend to make some savory meals based on meats I've never eaten like Duck, Lamb, and Cabrito. I will be putting the most effort into the 24 hour period between the solstice sunset and the following sunset, so effectively two days of celebration there.

I would like to take up archery & archery hunting this year, a plan to go on a hunt on the final days of Yule, which will constitute a lot of effort as well. Many hours and quite possibly an unsuccessful hunt or else even more work in preparing my prey for a meal.

Filling up the intervening time with meaningful tradition is a challenge, though. We have a Yule Moon which happens to fall on the 25th this year, but I have mixed feelings about putting in a lot of effort on the christcuck high holiday. But on the other hand you can't just surrender part of Yuletime to them.

Any one else working on some dank traditions? I think a challenge for most pagans is that we don't live in communities of other pagans with whom to share our traditions so our religious activities take on a reclusive and private nature which should be fought against. Let's light up the season of darkness by sharing our traditions with each other.

Happy Yuletide!

When i was younger my mother used to take me to some (i think asatru, definitely some kind of norse) bonfires as part of her faith. Now i never really believed in that stuff and she never tried to force it on me, but i feel like i missed out in life on the opportunity to rebel against the religion of my parents.

Christianity has satanism and the like, but how could i be an edgy anti-asatru? Worshipping surtr? I basically want to do a stupid practical joke to my parents whilst I'm visiting them about having adopted the opposite religion of theirs.

Gods of Modern Life

Since it is an ancient Pagan tradition, Asatru tends to focus on our Gods' connections to nature, which completely makes sense. But I can't imagine the Gods have fortified themselves in the forests, and that there is absolutely no connection between them and the facets of modern life.

So who is the God of Electricity? Nuclear Power? Computers and The Internet? Surely the ancient Gods have fields that overlap with these parts of modern day life. Or does anyone think that new Gods/Goddesses are needed for these? Or is there good reason the Gods stay away from these?

What do you think?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUDT1L2Iy9I

http://www.redicecreations.com/TV/2015/Insight-Origins-Kwanzaa-Hanukkah-Christmas.php

In the multicultural west we are told to say Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas or these days Happy Holidays as to not offend others. Lana tells about the true origins of newcomer holidays such as Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. Where did these holidays originate? Are they original? Why are they also in December, like Christmas? She'll also talk about the true origins of Christmas, which is entirely borrowed from Yule, the pre-Christian European celebration of the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and Christmas are all imposters, culturally appropriating from the ancient European Winter Solstice celebration. Learn about the myth, symbolism and tradition of Yule.

Red Ice Yule Special - Myths & Forgotten Traditions of the Winter Solstice

In this special Yuletide episode, most of the Red Ice crew – Henrik, Lana, John and Melanie (we missed you, Fredrik!) –joins together to discuss the significance of the winter holiday season today and what this important time of year meant to our ancestors. We talk about our childhood memories of Christmas and family teachings, or lack thereof, of pre-Christian traditions surrounding the winter solstice and return of the sun. Henrik describes the ancient Norse pagan ritual, the Blót, which included sacrificial offerings at Uppsala to the gods Odin and Freya, and Lana tells the mythical story of the Wild Hunt, with the flying 8-legged horse, Sleipnir. We get into the legend of Krampus, the shamanic aspects of Santa Claus, the significance of the colors of Yule, the burning of the Yule log, and other symbols central to survival. We receive a history lesson on the origins of Kwanza and Hanukkah, and we look at how Christmas has been culturally appropriated and manufactured into celebrations that hijack the ancient energy of northern European solar traditions. Then, we discuss how Hanukkah has taken center stage at the White House and we listen to a clip from Obama’s big liberal propaganda party that included PC holiday blessings from Susan Talve, a Rabbi from the Central Reform Congregation in St. Louis. Our conversation rounds off with thoughts on the importance of storytelling and practicing rituals, along with rediscovering and honoring the ancient Norse essence of generosity and clan loyalty.

A message from Thor...

>I was camping the other night and got a drunk.

>I dozed off a bit near the fire

>Woke up suddenly and there's a dude leaning on a tree.

>red beard, kinda built

>jumped up and he was gone in flash

>spooked the shit out of me & started looking around frantically.

>grab my camp hatchet for protection.

>a little time goes by and nothing much else happens

>get this urge to write

>grab my notebook from my pack

>write this:

"Thus the Thunderer spoke:

"Long have I been with you, my people.

Long have I been your protector - your guardian.

I have given you strength and spirit to forge on during

the harshest of times and in the most severe of circumstances.

Even when you turned your backs on me to follow a weak martyr-god so that

that you might 'inherit the earth', I watched over you and granted my

strength to you. Because you are my people, I did not turn my back

on you.

When the barbarians and desert riders were at your gates it was I

that stood alongside you. And together we repelled that force.

But of late your conduct has been such that I can no longer recognize

you as the folk who once stood so proud in battle. You no longer

respect any god - nor do you seem to respect yourselves.

Your men act as women and cowards - weeping with fear and shame. Too

afraid have you become stand up for yourselves that, once again, barbarians are

at your gates yet you do nothing. You allow your women to be raped and you kill your

own children because it is the easy path.

I no longer know you and you know longer know yourselves.

I am calling to you, Men of the West, to tell you to remember me. Know that I am The Oak. I am The Mountain.

I am The Thunder and the Lightening - I am The Storm. I make that which is barren fruitful and I punish those

that would do evil. When you come to know me, you may begin to remember yourselves.

I am Thunor and you once were my people.

One day, you may be my people once again. "

I really do feel that Thor was speaking through me. The words just kept coming. Almost like automatic writing. After I finished writing I poured out one of my beers into the fire, thanked him, and went to bed.

Believe me or not, it's up to you.

Shared folk awareness astrally induced into our blood - Is it possible?

Hereditary remembering (also: hereditary memory or heritage awakening, german Erb-Erinnern) is a conceptualization of Ariosophy marked by Guido von List and describes the biologically inherited collective memory of our ancestors since the proto-germanics.

The concept of hereditary memory has some loose resemblances to that of reincarnation, but the followers of the latter instead believe in memories from a past, repeated life - Contrast this with hereditary memory which rather sees these metaphysical flashbacks as memories or consciousness rooted in the inherited experiences of the ancestors, contained within our DNA itself.

Pagan Prepping Thread

Let's have a thread about survivalism in accordance with our beliefs. If you give some thought to it, the germanic farmers from days of yore were pretty much preppers too. Their villages were more or less completely self-sufficient. Everything they needed to live and sustain themselves and their offspring they grew within the viccinity of their settlements. They were very much like northern american natives when it came to using natural resources and leaving next to no residue/pollution behind, in sharp contrast to the romans whose civilization already arrived at spenglerian industrialist proportions by the time they had expanded to the Rine.

I am firmly convinced that if our folk is to survive in the 21st century and beyond, we must embrace the ways of living of our ancestors once more and supplement/fuse it with 21st century technology, like for example 3D printing and electronic information sharing technology, and of course also prepping itself.

Return of the Immortals

What is your resonance? The path to Asgard/ Immortality is a process of density, from the least vital, slow waveform to the most vital, fast waveform. Are the different worlds different frequencies? Higher energetic states are beyond the slower. There appears to be a conspiracy to suppress this vitality, maintaining a domesticated human lacking subtle and higher sensitivity to greater realities and awareness – an attempt to disengage us from the Super Natural and integrate us into the artificial machine world.

Light is Consciousness. The greater the vibration, the greater the capacity for information.

There may be a point where human physiology is so purified and adapted one can absorb sunlight directly. Mystics have transcended through this process (with meditations and energy practices).

>The Celto-Germanic Tree Horoscope

Celtic tree astrology is based on the ancient idea that the time of our births is pivotal to the formation of our personality and behavior.

The spiritually savvy Celts, particularly the druids were expert observers. Over time, they recognized that a child born within a certain season would develop certain qualities. Further, the druids observed patterns in the color and shape of a person's life according to the motions of the moon (their calendar being based on a lunar year) and the season in which we are born.

The system of Celtic tree astrology was developed out of a natural connection with the druid's knowledge of earth cycles and their reverence for the sacred knowledge held by trees. The druids had a profound connection with trees and believed they were vessels of infinite wisdom.

Carrying this concept a step forward, we can associate the likeness and personality of trees to our own human nature.

By doing so, we gather inspired insight and clarity into who we are.

THE DAGDA

The father god and ruler of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Perhaps the most important of all the Celtic deities, Dagda (sometimes referred to as ‘The Dagda’) was worshiped by the Celts as the god of magic, wisdom, and fertility.

Dagda’s many fine possessions indicate the array of his talents. His magical club could kill with a strike from one side and restore life with a blow from the other. The weapon was so big that it could injure more than one man at a time, and Dagda had to drag it behind him on two wheels.

His cauldron could provide an endless supply of food for the gods. His fruit trees were always ready to harvest. Of his two swine, one was always roasting upon a spit while the other was always alive.

His harp could summon the seasons.

In various stories, Dagda is named as the son, the father, and sometimes the husband of the mother goddess Danu. His wife is usually given as Bóand. He also mates with Mórrígan at the start of the new year. His many children include Angus Óg, Bodb Derg, Brigit, and Midir.

Dagda killed many Fomorians in the second battle of Mag Tuired. But this battle ended his career, for he was killed there by Caitlín, wife of the Fomorian leader Balor.

In the middle of the second battle of Mag Tuired, the Fomorians and the Tuatha Dé Danann called a truce. The fighting halted for a short time, but neither side let its guard down. The Fomorians kept themselves busy looking for ways to gain the advantage over their adversaries. They thought that if they could distract the great father god, they might be able to win the battle. They also knew that Dagda had a weakness for porridge, his favorite food, so they decided to concoct a porridge of superhuman proportions.

The Fomorians began by digging a massive crater in the earth. They poured in enough milk to satisfy an entire village for one year. Then they added enough fat to supply an entire kingdom for two years. Next they added enough meal to feed every man, woman, and child in an entire province for three years. Then, for good measure, they threw in a flock of sheep, a herd of goats, and a passel of pigs.

The Fomorians challenged and taunted Dagda to eat the porridge or die. Dagda leaned over the great crater in the ground and sniffed at the mixture of ingredients. He put one giant finger into the mess and tasted it. To the amazement of the Fomorians, Dagda ate the entire huge crater of porridge. Feeling tired after such a big meal, Dagda lay down under a tree for a nap.

The Fomorians, annoyed that their plot had failed, devised a backup plan. They called for a woman to tempt the Dagda. If he mated with her, he would die. The Fomorians hid behind trees to see what would happen. Dagda woke briefly to see a young maiden lying beside him. Although he noticed that she was very pretty, he was still sleepy and satisfied from his meal, so he rolled over and went back to sleep. The Fomorians were foiled again.

Runic Sex Postures of the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc

THIS exciting new volume examines the thirty-three runes of the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc and seeks to incorporate them within a new and original system of sexual magick. Designed to encourage methods of strict discipline and self-control, the purpose of Troy Southgate's unique commentary is to use the symbolism and magickal correspondences of each rune to create a ritualistic and meditative environment for the facilitation of magickal activity. Whilst most sexual behaviour inevitably appeals to the senses and the emotions, the runic sex postures of the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc are designed, ultimately, to completely transcend both mind and body. Lavishly illustrated by the talented Polish artist, Zbigniew Bogusławski, who spent months working on each of the designs, the methodology and practicalities of this radical new system have finally been brought to life. With detailed information about each posture, its meaning and application, this work will appeal to occultists, magicians and heathens alike and represents a valuable contribution to the field of Indo-European spirituality.

I ask this in good faith as a practicing Heathen and pray I do not come across as trollish.

I have difficulty responding to some Christian arguments against Heathenry.

Mainly:

Christianity as a uniter of Europe against the Muslim threat during The Crusades.

and

Christianity as a spreader of some of the more positive aspects of Greco-Roman Mediterranean culture (I.e. philosophy, art etc.) Specifically, they love to throw up the argument that Christianity became based on Greco-Roman culture, which was one of the major cradles of the European worldview and civilization, while the Germanic peoples were still in the woods so to speak.

They usually springboard from the above into a screed on how Christianity made Europe great, blah blah, blah, muh Cathedrals and such.

So far, they only effective counter-argument that I have been able to come up with is the fact that though Christianity may have done some good in the short term, it ultimately has screwed us in the long term, due to Christianity, void of European roots, ultimately morphing into the Universalist worldview that is now killing the West.

Perhaps, also that Heathen culture would have eventually made contact with Mediterranean culture and engaged in a syncretic relationship void of Christianity.

Not to mention their pro-Christianity arguments amount to crypto cheer-leading for Mediterranean Pagan culture.

Further thoughts and counter-arguments?

What do you anons think of traditional homosexuality, as practiced by the Germanic tribes and other Aryan pagans? The inevitable resurgence of European Paganism

Is anyone else looking at this invasion of Europe that's happening right now and coming to the conclusion that the widespread resurgence of some form of European Paganism is all but inevitable at this point?

The flood of Muslims is seemingly endless, their murdering and raping is beginning to spread outside of the shelters as they seem to be tired of raping their own women and now attacks on Europeans are becoming increasingly common, white Europeans are finally starting to wake up in large numbers and every day more and more people are becoming enraged over this insanity, and we have gone well past the point that this could be ended peacefully and massive amounts of violence is now unavoidable.

As for how this relates to religion and spirituality though, it just seems to me that some form of European Paganism is the only likely result of all of this. Humans need spirituality and without it we descend into the same abyss of nihilism and apathetic hedonism that large parts of Europe have already been in for several decades now, so Europe will need some kind of spirituality that the people can rally around as the violence begins and chaos erupts throughout Europe. I don't see any trend towards a Christian revival that would make me think that Christianity will be the choice of Europeans outside of maybe Southern and Eastern Europe. Christianity is just rotting right now, and even Christians will admit this if they're honest. Christianity is on life support in the rest of Europe and when it is practiced then it's practiced in such a watered down and meaningless way, so it seems impossible to me that most of Europe will rally around Christianity as a spiritual source of strength in the coming conflict.

If we look at the present trend amongst Western European nationalists though then it can be argued that a kind of primal and subconscious form of European Paganism is already being practiced. If you look at the symbols that they're using, the artwork that they admire, and the heroes and figures that inspire them then almost all of it is pagan. You might see a crusader painting here and there, but that's definitely in the minority compared to the amount of people who are connecting to their identity as a white European through symbols and images that are directly connected to European Paganism.

It makes perfect sense that this would be what caused the resurgence because if people are willing to fight and die to stop this invasion of Muslims then what is it that they're willing to die for? They will be fighting and dying for Europe and that in and of itself is a form of spirituality. The conflict that we're facing calls for an ethnically based spirituality because the whole point of this fight is to fight for the survival of Europe and white Europeans. Christianity is useless for this purpose and the amount of mental gymnastics that you would need to do to twist Christianity into an ethnic religion of any kind is just ridiculous.

When you consider the need that is within humans for some kind of spirituality, the present withering away of Christianity, and the unique circumstances of the invasion that practically demands for an ethnic spirituality, then a resurgence of European Paganism in some form seems to be inevitable to me.

Hey don't you have to die a warrior's death or else you go to Hel?

How do you all intend to go out?

I bought two axes and I am going to get a hunting permit and go on a berserking rampage and fight bears in the forest till one gets me and I die with my axes crossed across my chest lying peacefully in the forest

Is that enough to get me to Sovngarde?

Neopaganism, "New Right" = Small-Time Ball-less

Karl Lowith says at one point that neopaganism is exoteric Nietzscheanism. But he says this about the neopaganism of his time; it's enough to say, in ours it's become a form of cosplay/LARPing done by genetic defectives like Kurtagic, the altright crowd, and their analogues in Europe. But it's worse than this, it's a form of surrender of European identity, likely designed by people with a preponderance of pre-Aryan blood.

Aeneas on his travels as described by Virgil comes upon a small colony of Trojans. They've decided to live in obscurity and perpetuate the Trojan way of life in peace; he mocks them for their lack of spirit, their provincialism, grounded in fear of the Greeks, who they don't want to challenge, and in abandonment of great imperial ambitions. They are a parody of Troy become theme-park…the desire also of the modern WN, the "neopagans," who poster Petr from the Phora described as cleaving rather more closely to pre-Aryan forms of life. The small village, the supremacy of village community, veneration of their women, extreme localism, and other such things, the life of small-souled peasants. Not the piratical, ranging and conquering drive of the Aryan or his descendants.

Gobineau showed the tragic fate of all superior races: imperialism, expansion is built into them, as much extreme localism, "neopagan" obscurantism, is built into inferior races who have no curiosity about the outside world or ability to rule it. As the superior race expands, however, it will necessarily incorporate inferior blood on its periphery; during times of decadence racial mixing will occur, which leads to end of the strength of the kingly blood and to the end of civilization, until a cycle will renew itself. There is no way around this, and the superior race can't abandon its drive to rule.

Universal religions like Islam and Christianity are expressions of Arab and European supremacy, respectively (see Ephraim Karsh's book among others for very clear evidence that Islam is nothing but Arab imperialism). The problem is that in the long run the inner teaching gradually takes hold, and so, at least in the case of Christianity, its original and corrosive morality eventually overtakes and cancels out the 1000-year-long process of "taming" undertaken by the Romans and their heirs in Europe. Thus a Semitic slave creed is gradually tamed and used by aristocratic Europe as a means of universal rule–the age of exploration and colonization is inseparable from Christian faith–but, in the long run, the pure or inner teaching begins for various reasons to overcome this taming, and Christianity leads to the breeding of the modern man, the small bug-man. This bug-man rejects traditional Christianity in two ways. He swings between rejecting its hierarchy and spiritual mystery in favor of its "secularized" and universal moral teaching (egalitarianism, feminism, compassion, being small-souled, utilitarianism, English-ism) which appeals to his base spirit; and rejecting its imperial and universal qualities, in which case he will embrace ethnonationalist, parochial "neopaganism."

Nietzsche's "neopaganism" is of an entirely different kind; he is much concerned with the basis for an alternative universal, imperial culture, the culture of man as such. That is, he realized that in the abandonment of Christianity, which was inevitable, Europe was in danger of abandoning also the one creed and faith that was a vehicle for greatness of European blood in the world, its world-conquering and piratical drives. The modern "neopagans" by contrast leave this behind and embrace small-time parochialism, revealing their base pre-Aryan blood. And to think they want to be "left alone" in the name of racial purity, when they themselves are a confusion of blood and of drives, within whom the ancient matriarchal aborigine takes hold!

Why is it important to follow the same religion as your family did ~1000-1400 years ago? Generally speaking, ideas, philosophy, religion, science and technology develop over time. Also why do you choose this point? many more of your ancestors would have practiced animism. why not that?

Cucked anti-racist SJW wiccan larping libtard anti-white pseudo-asatruar blogger attacks AFA for being "racist"

"We’ve been smelling the racist stench from McNallen for years, but every time we’ve probed our local heathen communities for comments or insights, we’ve met with nothing but brick walls. Circle Ansuz, an anti-fascist heathen collective [SIC!] who’s been the perennial foe of the idiotic “bay area national anarchists,” has written a fantastic piece that truly demolishes the mythology around McNallen. As you’ll find out, McNallen isn’t a quaint “racialist” who thinks that different races can live peacefully separate from each other, he quite literally believes that the souls of different races are as incompatible as an Allen wrench to a flat-head screw. Oh, and he tagged along with and wrote fawning articles about a mercenary outfit composed of former members of apartheid South Africa’s official government death squad.

Does anyone have experience with using psychedelics to connect with the Gods, the ancestors or the various spirits in general?

Heathen Harvest Article on Folkish Heathenry

Found this article on Heathen Harvest. It is dated by five months, so old news but worth mentioning (didn't see it anywhere on the catalogue).

It is a response to a sloppily researched article by VICE magazine (aren't they all?) about the "violent racism" prevalent in folkish Asatru painting McNallens group as goosestepping Nazis no different than the Aryan Brotherhood.

Here is the original Vice article (archived to avoid VICE getting shekels): https://archive.is/UQIap

And the Heathen Harvest article: http://heathenharvest.org/2015/05/12/contra-vitium-how-vice-mischaracterized-a-religious-movement/

The Heathen Harvest rebuttal is pretty good as it argues in a moderate way which would garner sympathy from outsiders who may otherwise be turned off by any sort of indigenous European tribalism (couches the argument within the paradigm of multiculturalism and preserving religious minorities).

Germanic Shield Patterns

We all know from the sources that tell us that the Germanic tribes (as well as other barbarian peoples in the north like Celts and Slavs) had elaborate and colorful shield patterns, in order to display their tribal allegiance, rank, or family, or perhaps all three in one.

Unfortunately the reality is that most of these shields are lost because they were made of wood for most of history, and by the time metal shields became common among the Germanic tribes they were becoming increasingly Christian (however do not dismiss that medieval coat of arms and old tribal shield patterns may have a connection)

However we do have a few sources to run off of and one of them I found was an old Roman book that contains pictures of shield patterns used by a Roman mercenary unit of Germans, composed of several different tribes. Each tribal unit has its own shield design that bear great resemblance to the patterns used by the other tribes.

norse heritage, mixed ethnicity

So some time ago there was a thread asking how the asatru/norse revivalist community would feel about none-germanics/mixed people joining the community and the general consensus seemed to be that it's up to the gods

But my question is about the community specifically, and how they would feel about someone me trying to bring back the old Norse lifestyle even though they aren't Germanic themselves

My bloodline, however, can be traced specifically to the founding of Dylfin, that was a long time ago though and it's only on my dad's side, my mother is Mexican.

Two things:

1. What are your opinions toward wolf hunting?

2. This may seem like a weird question but have Jews played any roles in wolf extirpation? For example, Britain and especially Ireland had many wolves but their extermination on those islands went full speed after Cromwell took power, and we all know what Cromwell was about.

Similarly with Charlemagne (the rat credited with helping to spawn the Ashkenazim), under his rule he organised large wolf hunting parties whereas such a thing seems to not have been present among the Germanic tribes before.

Of course, wolves would get in the way by harming farmers' livestock and as Europe's population grew wolves became more of a drain, but still.

James Laffrey has laid his argument for Jews being behind the near total decimation of bison in North America. Could there be something similar to what I've suggested?

New Gods

So one of the arguments I see here frequently is whether or not people who don't know their blood line or know that they are mutts are welcome in modern Germanic religions. Shit can get real heated in these arguments. To help alleviate some of this I have a proposal of a sorts.

The gods/godesses, like the men/women that worship them, are sexual beings. They like boning just as much as we do. The idea that in the 1000 years or so that not a single new god or demi-god or <insert one of the many god like beings that were worshiped> was born is kind of absurd. For some reason I doubt Odin wears a condom and that Frigg is on the pill.

That means chances are that there are a whole host of gods/goddess that might be looking for followers and a domain to lord over. Of which there are tons of new things and concepts that could use a god or two looking out for them (Firearms, cars, the internet, at some point AI systems, science, technology, the really technologically advanced WMDs we've been using, etc).

Now I also think it is unlikely that all of these new gods are pure blood. If there is one thing I took from reading about the gods is that they don't care who they put their dick in. It is logical that there are 3/4 Jotunn 1/4 Cherokee or some such beings running around.

I propose that we encourage our mutts to seek out and identify the new gods. They probably are the best qualified to do it. A god that is a mutt will probably open up to a mutt first.

Obviously this idea needs polishing. I'm not very good at articulating myself but I think you all understand my meaning.

Look at it this way:

Best case scenario we identify new gods.

Worst case scenario the mixed bloods go on a wild goose chase.

Blood Harvest Moon

Tonight (27th to 28th) we can witness a super blood moon. A super blood moon is a full moon, as close as possible to earth together with a lunar eclipse which makes the moon shine red. Even more it is also Harvest moon, the full moon closest to the beginning of autumn. This combination will happen again in 595 years, the next "super blood moon" will be in 2033 afaik.

It will be from 4 to 5 am for me. Not sure how it is for the rest for us, so better look it up so you don't miss it!

Do you have any specific plans? Unfortunately it is on short notice for me.

I will probably go for a walk to the spot I held my first blot (if it can be called that) if I am not too spooked and take a beer with me to share it. If I'm in the mood I might spill some of my own blood as it seems very fitting, no idea.

Freyja, Frigg, the Aesir, and the Vanir

Are Freyja and Frigg the same? It would make a lot of sense, they have very similar characteristics and their husbands are essentially the same deity. Odr and Odinn are almost certainly the same. Their names are in fact the same word, the only difference is Odinn is definite accusative while Odr is indefinite nominative.

If they are the same, what would that mean for the Vanir? I've heard theories that the Vanir weren't actually considered a separate group until right before the conversion to Christianity.

What are your thoughts on this?

Volk Consciousness — Manifestation of Wotan

http://renegadetribune.com/volk-consciousness-manifestation-of-wotan/

It is said that the road to Hel is paved with good intentions. Yet, these same good intentions move many to entrust their destiny to those who are in positions of power. History has proven, time and again, that our trust is quite often dangerously misplaced.

One thing has not changed since our Folk permitted alien culture to reside and rule amongst us: NOT ONCE HAVE OUR GUESTS NOT TRIED TO MANIPULATE US INTO SUBMISSIVE POSITIONS. The methods of such manipulations are unlimited in modern times. No aspect of life escapes harm; economy, religion, social morality, media, science, arts and medicine, political and social activities are all affected.

In nature we shall never find the weak creatures ruling over the strong. We shall never observe the rabbit lording over the wolf. We shall never see the lion bow to the mouse. We shall never see the day when the snake serves the fish. Although they reside in the same world, they live by the Highest Law of Nature: THE PRESERVATION OF ONE’S OWN KIND.

For our folk, the Highest Law of Nature comes down to one thing, our leaders and chieftains should be permitted to rule for only one reason, that they have proven to be great by way of ability and great deeds. When they prove unworthy of ruling a Noble Volk, it is vital that they be replaced.

Comic Books

How appropriate do you guys consider comic books for your kids? How pagan tier are comics and are they on our side?

Pic related is an old DC character "Wotan", yes, that Wotan. In the comic he is a super-villain who fights superman and uses Satanic powers. Also remember that Superman is supposed to be Jesus and even has an "el" in the end of his name, Hebrew for God. Superman is Judeochristian Zionist nonsense.

Thor from Marvel might seem more appropriate but they still mock our gods and especially recently with turning Thor, the masculine god of fertility and protection, into a woman. Not to mention the Thor movies with Heimdall, the White God, played by a black.

Are there any comics that are pro or at least neutral to Paganism? Hellboy was written by a Catholic and has mostly Catholic themes but it took alot from Pagan lore as well in a positive light.

Here's yet another thread about the hot button issues of this board, race and homosex. I haven't chosen a side so far in the argument over asatru's position on gays or other races.

Can anyone post any real evidence or sources, anything at all, about how our asatru-practicing ancestors felt about other races and gays? Not guessing or assuming bullshit, we need real facts, stories, lore, any real evidence from that time to settle this.

>inb4 tacitus and muh bogs

That's an observation by one roman guy, on one area of Germanic tribes, from one time period. What about the Norse? What about the Viking Age? That's not enough evidence to assume that's the attitude of all of asatru, for all of its many-hundred-year heyday.

A few questions I want to consider when it comes to race and gays:

>Would our ancestors really have refused or scorned marriage with pretty women from other races? I know they rarely got exposed to them at all, so that may never have been answered.

>Did the Vikings raid others because they were another race and thus inferior, or because they were another country? I think their behavior would have been no different if their victims had been the same race as them. Thoughts?

I admit the only lore I've read in full is pic related, the Havamal. It says nothing about either of these issues… but it's the reason I'm drawn to asatru despite what whiny, self-righteous faggots people on both sides of this argument can be.

Hello /asatru/

I've always been very interested in norse mythology, and especially the sides of it that deals with nature and our ancestors' spirituality concerning it.

Here in my country, we have this organization called Forn Sidr that I heard about many years ago and decided to investigate, and while they do indeed claim to practice asatru, they came across more like a hobby club than an actual religious circle. They talked very little about any kind of actual religious beliefs and a lot more about how we should all just get together and talk it out and come up with our own idea of what Asatru should be in modern times. While I think it's fine that they're open to new ideas, it put me off too, because it made it seem like it was more like a roleplaying club that held very little regard for the traditions and ideas of the old ways.

My first question here is, is there really enough information regarding the viking beliefs to revive this "dead" religion and provide genuine answers to spiritual questions in modern day, or will it always just be a corrupted and modernized imitation?

My second question is, I'm aware there's a lot of neo-nazi connections to "Wodenism", and that many Scandinavian and Germanic ultranationalists look to ancestor-worship more for its justifications for their political beliefs than any genuine religious conviction. Is that something that takes up a lot of space in the various Asatru circles? Do you find it's generally accepted, or do the "true believers" shun those who use the faith as a political tool?

Thirdly, both Islam and Christianity has tons of secondary literature on their primary sources, i.e the Koran and the Bible. Could you recommend me literature on this religion, apart from the Eddas? Has anyone written about the Eddas and what they mean in a religious sense?

The consequence, among others, being many videos being deleted, including Varg's. That and the opening post containing the typical "no racism" babble indicate in which the new board will go. It's really funny to see them testing out a now site because they are concerned about censorship and the first thing they do is delete things they don't like.

Even if voat does not take off, we should take the chance and occupy other related boards, making sure they don't fall in the hand of redditors.

I just created:

https://voat.co/v/Heathenry

and

https://voat.co/v/Heathen

The latter will simply redirect to heathenry.

And I am currently working on it, even though I suck at it. I will probably copy a lot from the sticky here. I hope you guys will be able to help me keeping it sort of active by posting stuff, in order to keep it in our hands. Else others might try to take it over. I'd really appreciate some sort of help.

Can pagans read and enjoy Christian stories written by Christians, that have Christian themes and maybe references to Christ? Or should we avoid them? Would our ancestors approve?

I've been reading things like Macbeth, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Divine Comedy and thoroughly enjoying them and finding their wisdom useful.

I like the fantasy/medieval settings and language and themes…

Is this frowned upon ?

What you guys believe.

Hey guys, I'm a Christian, not a pagan, but I am interested and have a question. Do you guys believe, 100%, that the gods are real and all of the other pagan stuff is real? Like, as a Christian, I really do believe the Bible is true and God is real. I am wondering if you guys 100% believe in the gods, or if you guys participate in the rituals as a political statement. Also, if you do 100% believe the gods are real, what evidence is there for their existence? Btw, I mean no disrespect, and if some of the stuff I said was wrong it is because I am not educated on paganism.

Reminder that true Asatru does not accept homosexuality. And if you call yourself an Asatruar and are okay with gays, then you're doing it wrong.

From Germania by Tacitus:
>The Assembly is competent also to hear criminal charges, especially those involving the risk of capital punishment. The mode of execution varies according to the offence. Traitors and deserters are hanged on trees; cowards, shirkers, and sodomites are pressed down under a wicker hurdle into the slimy mud of a bog. This distinction in the punishments is based on the idea that offenders against the state should be made a public example of, whereas deeds of shame should be buried out of men's sight.

Faggots are condemned by the gods and our people. When the happening happens and we establish our own small pagan communities to survive, make sure you set up near a bog so this filth can be executed like our ancestors would want.

Pagans in recent history.

Hey guys, I was wondering if there were any famous pagans from somewhat recent history, like 1200-1800. What did they do, what type of pagan were they? I am mostly wondering if pagans were still active when Europe was almost entirely Christian. Thanks!

Ashley Madison

Rejoice fellow heathens, for many whores and adulterers of Ashley Madison have been outed by righteous hackers.

So I think we should take some time to look at our ancestors' punishments for adulterers.

>By such means is the virtue of their women protected, and they live uncorrupted by the temptations of public shows or the excitements of banquets. Clandestine loveletters are unknown to men and women alike. Adultery is extremely rare, considering the size of the population. A guilty wife is summarily punished by her husband. He cuts off her hair, strips her naked, and in the presence of kinsmen turns her out of his house and flogs her all through the village. They have in tact no mercy on a wife who prostitutes her chastity. Neither beauty, youth, nor wealth can find her another husband. No one in Germany finds vice amusing, or calls it 'up-to-date' to seduce and be seduced. Even better is the practice of those states in which only virgins may marry, so that a woman who has once been a bride has finished with all such hopes and aspirations. She takes one husband, just as she has one body and one life. Her thoughts must not stray beyond him or her desires survive him. And even that husband she must love not for himself, but as an embodiment of the married state. To restrict the number of children, or to kill any of those born after the heir, is considered wicked. Good morality is more effective in Germany than good laws are elsewhere.

So that leads me to my next question.

What do we do if/when we find some of our own on the Ashley Madison list? High ranking members of the AFA, AA, Irminsfolk, Odinic Rite, etc. I can only hope the Asatru community responds in a proper manner. Does anyone know the emails any important figures in these organizations use?

However, let's say we don't find any heathens on the list, can we use this as a means to prove Asatru's good moral grounds?

Like I said in >>7210, Dylan Sprouse is a decent role model to children, and can act as a good gateway to the religion. Already people have found many Vatican members on the list, not to mention Josh Duggar who is head of an organization for Christian Family Values, clearly this man practiced what he preached on a daily basis(not). Disillusioned white folk may start to lose faith in Christianity and search for alternatives, is this a good opportunity to add to our ranks?

The Wild Hunt

It's a couple of months before the traditional season of the Wild Hunt begins. There are, of course, some superstitions connected to the Wild Hunt, such as the notion that seeing it pass by is a particularly ill omen, so this is probably the best time of year to have a thread about it.

I find it fascinating that the Wild Hunt is recognized as a folk tradition throughout so much of Europe, extending comfortably outside the Germanic sphere of influence and into other European cultures, such as the Welsh hounds of Annwn. To me this suggests that this is a very old and very fundamental European legend that should be accorded a significant place in our treatment of the lore.

http://icelandmag.visir.is/article/heathenry-iceland-america-and-germany-mainstream-and-fringe

>Unlike Iceland, where one religious organization includes nearly all Heathens, America and Germany have a large number of national organizations, regional associations, local groups and lone practitioners.

>The Ásatrúarfélagið focuses on Icelandic heritage.

>Given the nation’s rich literary past and mostly monocultural society, its members can look to purely Icelandic sources for information on pre-Christian religion, mining the medieval Eddas and sagas for texts to be used in blóts (religious rituals) and for models of how these rituals may be performed.

>Members gather to discuss Old Icelandic poems, and several leaders of the organization actively participate in re-enactment of music, crafts and fighting techniques of Iceland’s early settlers.

>American Heathens tend to be more omnivorous in their studies. This is understandable, in light of the great cultural diversity of American society. >American Heathens incorporate elements from Iceland’s Eddas and sagas into their practice, but they also delve into literary sources from England, Denmark, Germany and the Roman Empire.

>German Heathens are interested in Icelandic materials, but largely turn to the pre-Christian history of their own region for inspiration and guidance.

>Written accounts of Germanic Heathens include Latin texts by Caesar and Tacitus; archeological evidence stretches back hundreds of years BCE.

> Andreas Zautner, a member of the German Heathen organization the Eldaring, stresses the importance of local history: “Specific historical Heathen events play an important role for Heathens in Germany.

>One event common to most Germans is the defeat of the Roman legions by Hermann the Cherusker. The two-thousandth anniversary of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest was celebrated by German Heathens only a few years ago.”

Pagan Gods never proclaimed any commandments. Thus there is no such thing as sin or morality in Paganism. There is no divine moral authority.

You can adopt man-made customs for yourself based on some shitty historical analysis, but that is your own problem, not ours. As Pagans we are guided by our own subjectivity and might. Not your shoddy historical analysis of "customs".

Please don't confuse man-made customs with morality or Divine authority.

Don't confuse customs/laws with morality. What was a law in one tribe might not be a law in another, depending on time and environment.

Just for your own knowledge. anyone who goes around saying "such and such is degenerate" is just making a subjective opinion, it has no bearing on Paganism as such. i.e If you don't like porn or fapping or getting drunk or hunting animals or psych drugs or partying or polygamy, that's your own idiosyncracy, it has no bearing on Paganism. Paganism has no "morals" don't confuse culturally relative customs with morals.

I hope you guys can purify the Christ-cuck beliefs out of your language and stop acting like Paganism has some tangible Divine Moral Code we can follow. It has no morals. It doesn't, it actually never had. It only had some man-made suggestions and practical advice/legal tropes, that changed from tribe to tribe, and period to period. Depending on their needs and whims.

No Divine Moral Code exists in Paganism. Stop trying to be psuedo-Christians, it's nauseating. Seriously, stop making us look like Christ-cucks. I hear you guys say things like pre-marital sex is a sin. Please purify your brains. Just cause some northern tribe at one point "MIGHT" have frowned upon it is irrelevant.

Paganism is 10s of thousands of years old. I just want Paganism to not be infected with Christ-cuck ideology.

"Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson: Icelandic Ásatrú has nothing to do with those paths that engage with politics or the doctrines of racial preservation. In fact, I get more hate mail from American so-called Ásatrúers than anyone other religious groups. I think that’s telling. If you think about it, we had no conception of nationhood back in the 9th century, when our values began taking shape. If you read Hávamál, it’s about how to meet other cultures and be a good guest or host to the world around you. These are ancient sayings for the traveller – not for the guy sitting at home on his ass thinking his living room is the centre of the world."

I find it extraordinarily strange that simultaneously on earth there are people living in luxury concerning themselves over absolute inanities such as where they should go on vacation next or who their neighbor is sleeping with, while there are others who are living in in such severe poverty that they suffer everyday in filth before starving to death or succumbing to disease or violence.

Some people are exposed to religion and philosophy which gives them tools to cope with suffering, others are kept in the dark and simply suffer in ignorance and confusion.

Does Asatru have an answer for this?

I understand that there is no principle of justice in nature, but the shear distance between the two states is almost too extreme to comprehend.

>The Roman Imperial cult drew its power and effect from both religious traditions deeply engrained in Roman culture, such as the veneration of the genius of each individual and of the ancestral dead, and on forms of the Hellenistic ruler cult developed in the eastern provinces of the Empire.

>The Imperial cult was inseparable from that of Rome's official deities, whose cult was essential to Rome's survival and whose neglect was therefore treasonous.

>Christian apologists and martyrologists saw the cult of the Emperor as a particularly offensive instrument of "pagan" impiety and persecution.[1] It therefore became a focus of theological and political debate during the ascendancy of Christianity under Constantine I. The emperor Julian failed to reverse the declining support for Rome's official religious practices: Theodosius I adopted Christianity as Rome's state religion. Rome's traditional gods and Imperial cult were officially abandoned.

If degenerate judeo-christfags from the desert wouldn't have suceeded in killing off the pagan european roman spiritual cult and its folk practices resulting in the subsequent degeneracy and fall of the roman empire, how would european history have progressed? Would germanics and romans have lived side by side and conquered the lesser, that is to say non-european races over time?

Questions on ancestry in regards to asatru.

Hello I have a question on whether or not it is appropriate for me to be into Asatru/Germanic Diaspora Heathenry and if it isn't, I was wondering if you all could perhaps offer alternatives that would fit my genetic "niche".

Understand this is based off of my family members words as I have not been able to do a 23andme or any alternative genetic test.

On my mother's side-My grandmother is purely welsh, and my grandfather 1/2 Sicilian (unknown what the rest is all I know is that my great grandfather was Sicilian)

On my father's side-My grandfather comes from Scottish immigrants and we can trace the name back. My grandmother is a bit more of an issue as it is implied that her father had an affair and it was swept under the rug but he comes directly from Prussian immigrants as his father was Prussian.

Being from Burgerlandia there will always be a viewpoint that I have no right to anything and should just anhero, but I guess my ultimate question comes down to "Do I fit"?

Thanks in advance for any help I can get in this manner.

It should be a well known fact by now that our ancestors practiced totemism, our holiest animals in the Germanic regions being the bear, the wolf, and the eagle.

Do you guys ever feel like you might have a totem animal? I mean not in an otherkin or fursona sense, in fact, I consider all that furry culture shit to be a bastardization of totemic traditions, likely spearheaded by the merchants. What was the original religion of the English people? Would it even be right to still worship that religion today, seeing as how we have been integrated with many different peoples from all over the world… Saxons, Romans, Vikings, Normans, etc, all with their own pagan beliefs? Do modern English people have direct ancestry to the original inhabitants of England?

So what was the religion? I know it differed from other pagan beliefs around Europe, and I'm hoping to only pursue the original religion of the british people in an effort to revive our culture and heritage from the damage the Jews are doing.

Nationalism and Its Effects on Peace in Europe

With global crisis, unemployment, dissatisfaction, poverty and intolerance has increased and with it also nationalism. Political parties with nationalist platforms are rising and gaining more support around the world and Europe is no exception.

In Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom and across Europe we can see the rise of the right. The financial crisis in the Eurozone and beyond has triggered rising of nationalists and far-right political parties.

The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) on 9th of JuIy released a report about the dramatic increase in anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, online hate speech and xenophobic political discourse as the main trends in 2014.

Nationalism can be positive with legitimacy, promotion of nations and inspiration for citizens or negative by creating tensions between different ethnicity and groups in or outside the country. Some negative aspects of ideology or political movement can be seen in the latest football matches in the Balkans, where supporters of team groups have burned many national flags and hooliganism that is the result of long lasting hatred and nationalism on the ground. Every country has its own history and different positions, but still similarities could be found.

The country all news is regarding to in recent times is Greece. A known slogan “Greece for Greeks” is well known in its anti-austerity party. Attacks against minorities and immigrants with racism are seen in one of the European Union (EU) members. Golden Dawn neo-Nazi party is linked to hundreds of violent attacks against minorities.

It is known for anti-immigration, racist-nationalist worldview. With elections being held this year in January the party captured 6.3% of the vote and 17 senate seats in Hellenic parliament and become the country’s third largest party. In 2014 the party won 9.4% of votes in European parliamentary election and with it 3 seats out of 21.

The party has been put on a trial this year for its criminal activity.

Nationalism in Greece has divided citizens and noncitizens to us and them and created the gap between both. With the economic crisis, Greeks debt, overall economic meltdown, unemployment and increasing number of refugees from different countries, the party led by Nikos Michaloliakos has gained more support and caused even greater intolerance to foreign people in need. Unfortunately, they are not the only one spreading intolerance. Many politicians have a stance against immigrants, which shapes the Greeks’ attitude towards nationalism.

Is there any books on these types of rituals? I watched a documentary a long time ago and remember something about rituals that are considered externally dangerous to attempt, I would do them if I knew how to.

/asatru/, what are your opinions on the Mithraic mysteries?

Unlike what some people believe Mithraic mysteries are uniquely European and the Mithraic Mithras has little if anything to do with the Persian Mithras, almost all of the Mithraic mystery temples are located in Western Europe and are centered around Rome.

I really like Mithra as a way to bridge the gap between various pagan European groups out there.

Mithras was at one point incorporated into all of the religions of the European parts of the Roman empire but almost none of the religions from outside of Europe.

Regretfully most of the believes and traditions have disappeared because of the secrecy of the cult, but thanks to it's rivalry with Christianity and it's links with pagans religions and especially the Sol Invictus cult we do know about some of the rituals, traditions and believes.

Could we build on these few things to create a new Mithras cult? A mystery cult that stands for all European peoples and against our invaders.

I know that I said in the last broadcast that we would begin talking in this week's episode on the Rune Sowilo, but with the time of year being what it is and the content of the previous week's broadcast being so pivotal in connection with the higher self I thought that we should put right something that was an oversight for those of you who subscribe to our RSS and iTunes feed. Winter Nights is coming, the time where we honor Freyja and the Disir (our female ancestors). What better time than to release as it should have been our episode on Seidhr! This esoteric art was practiced by our ancestors and sometimes included runes and sometimes did not. The particular form of Seidhr called "Oracular Seidhr" was particularly practiced by women but the entire art form that this style of magic represents was by no means restricted just to this. Listen to this broadcast and realize that this is one of our older vintage broadcast from almost 4 years ago! It has a hard-hitting message and is something that is of great value in any person's spiritual development if they are following the esoteric path.

For those that are following primarily the religious side of things this still holds great value it leaves Nuggets of wisdom that show the type of consciousness one has in reverie when giving blot to the gods and goddesses or to the ancestors and wights.

Hail to the gods and goddesses! Hail to our female ancestors! A fair and fine Winter Nights to all!

Until Next Time….

Valhalla/Folkvangr and the Modern World

First and foremost, this is not an encouragement of any violent acts, since I know how you guys respond to that (rightly so, probably.) I'm just very curious about the subject.

Is it possible to enter Valhalla/Folkvangr in our modern world? What would the conditions be? Do you have to believe in the old faiths? Do those who defended their Germanic peoples as Christians by circumstance enter Valhalla?

Is Valhalla filled with the ranks of the fallen Wehrmacht and Waffen SS? Is it also filled with the European British and American soldiers who fought against them? Can an ethnically Norwegian/German soldier who falls in battle in Afghanistan enter Valhalla? Can an ethnically European US soldier who falls in Afghanistan enter Valhalla?

If our modern soldiers can enter Valhalla, what is the nature of warfare on it's plains? Do they take their modern weapons with them, or do they practice the traditional arts?

Would Odin not want to take these people, even if they lack faith in his kind? Would he not want them to stand by his side at Ragnarok?

Hey asatru, I have a problem. I follow asatru to the best of my ability (not many places around here where I can buy Nordic things), but I have thoughts of being a female. I know most heathens stance on being a tranny, and I agree. It's a mental illness. Is there anything I can do to quell these thoughts so I can get some peace of mind? I've already quit jerking away my testosterone but it just made my urges worse. Thanks for your help.

>yfw God literally translates to Odin and the Odin tribes:

The translation for the word deus of the Latin Bible was influenced by the then current usage by the tribes for their highest deity, namely Wodan by Angles, Saxons, and Franks of north-central and western Europe, and Godan by the Lombards of south-central Europe around Rome. There are many instances where the name Godan and Wodan are contracted to God and Wod.[4] One instance is the wild hunt (a.k.a. Wodan's wild hunt) where Wod is used

Some variant forms of the name Odin such as the Lombardic Godan may point in the direction that the Lombardic form actually comes from Proto-Germanic *ǥuđánaz. Wōdanaz or Wōđinaz is the reconstructed Proto-Germanic name of a god of Germanic paganism, known as Odin in Norse mythology, Wōden in Old English, Wodan or Wotan in Old High German and Godan in the Lombardic language. Godan was shortened to God over time and was adopted/retained by the Germanic peoples of the British isles as the name of their deity, in lieu of the Latin word Deus used by the Latin speaking Christian church, after conversion to Christianity.

Proto-Germanic root geut- with the meaning "to pour" designating the tribes as "pourers of metal" or "forgers of men". The "pouring" etymology associates the name with the word god (*gudan "deity, idol"), which may be derived from the zero grade of the same root.

TIL, that beer has feminine hormones in it which make you get belly and man boob fat. Basically its bad for men and good for women despite how culture acts like beer is manly. But i like the taste of beer. What other alcohol could i drink and or offer the gods that wont turn me into a fat mangina. I think ale which i also like the taste of suffers the same affliction. Mead i don't really like and its expensive in my country. Wine tastes bad. What are my options?

I'm going camping this weekend. It's a very mountainous and forested region by a large lake. As a white man who feels alienated by the state of our world, I'm interested in your faith, and wondering if it's right for me.

I own an old Kindle Keyboard, that should be able to hold battery the entire time and then some. I'm expecting a decent amount of downtime, so this seems like a good time to do some learning while i'm in the midst of nature.

What should I read during this time to learn the most important elements of your faith and lore, and where can I find it in kindle compatible file formats?

The Iron Cross and Heathenism

As a pan-Germanic nationalist and national socialist, the Eisenkreuz as an order and as a symbol of Germanic strength and sacrifice retain a significant amount of importance to me. However, the origins of the design of the symbol present a pretty clear conflict of interest with heathenism. Do you think it's appropriate to hold it in reverence in the context of your Asatru faith, even without doing so in a religious manner? Should it be seen as it's own symbol, adopted by the times into it's own meaning, or does the inherent Christian symbolism override that?

Pagan Midsummer Celebration in Latvia

Repost from >>>/pol/2671433 (https://archive.is/VidTh)

A mass gathering in Latvia celebrates the Midsummer holiday. They sing "Saule, Pērkons, Daugava" in praise of the gods of the sun, the water, and thunder.

This is the face of nationalism in Europe. Thousands of Latvians embracing the heritage of their ancestors, celebrating the traditions that have belonged to their people for thousands and thousands of years. Sweeping away the alien Christian religion that poisoned Europe with a foreign Semitic dogma.

This is the Europe that stood for millennia before foreigners imposed an invasive outside religion rooted in the Jewish Torah. This is the restoration of European greatness.

This is the glorious image of hope for the White race.

''Sun Latvia Seat

Where edges converge

Sea, green earth

key to the gate of Latvia

The key to the gate of Latvia

Daugava (Dvina) – the keeper

And when strangers broke into the gate

At sea, the key fell

Lightning struck Perun

After taking the key from the devils

Death and life are locked

Like white sea and green earth

Posada Sun Latvia

on the edge of the White Sea

winds raise Sands

What will our children drink?

The Sun God was

If only revived Daugaviņa

beasts tear direction.

the god is pouring from the heavens water of life

Living water and dead water

Poured into the River Daugava

I dip fingertips

The soul of the two sensations

Living water and dead water

soul in two senses

Sun – Our Mother

Daugava (High Water) lulls pain

Perun – Veles conqueror

Father to us.''

New sagas

Since the discussion on that already is derailing the book thread I though it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to the creation of modern sagas, poems and art in general I guess.

Also, it seems people would like to see sagas involving other persons as well, including Hitler. I'm really unsure about this, but I think it might work if it's not judging in any way, so neither positive or negative. But that does absolutely not stop you from writing something. And if no one writes anything, we will get absolutely nothing done, and that would be kind of shameful I think.

So how about everyone here takes some time and puts some work into it. And posts it on here. Remember, this is anonymous and people can only judge the anonymous, so even if you think it sucks, post it. Others then can pick that work up and modify it if they feel like it. I'm pretty sure the Nibelungenlied wasn't written in a day. Also, sharing your knowledge of writing/ with us others would be nice.Eventually the art that reflects us the most will survive.

And for the beginning anything is much better than nothing.

>We believe in an all-pervading divine essence which is beyond our immediate understanding

But was this the understanding of the ancient Asatruars?

>weakness, cowardice, adherence to dogma rather than to the realities of the world, and the like – constitute our vices and are to be avoided

Isn't it dogmatic to believe something because it speaks to your soul (i.e. sentimentally agrees with you)?

Has anyone here considered becoming a Gothi?

I'm contemplated the idea before. Still juggling in my head the responsibilities, sacrifices I'll have to make, perks, prestige, etc.

General info on all the stuff you'll have to do as a Gothi here.

http://www.asatru.org/roleofgothar.php

The AFA has a training program for Gothar, since Mr. McNallen is generally liked here I thought I'd post that as well.

http://asatrufolkassembly.org/about-the-afa/afa-clergy-program/

I could just start my own independent kindred and claim myself as a Gothi, but if I were seeking spiritual enlightenment, I'd rather my guide have gone through a rigorous training program than just be some guy who played Skyrim and then thinks he knows everything about Germanic Paganism.

That and the AFA is a legally recognized religious organization, so being an ordained clergymen would give you all the legal perks any clergymen of any other religion in the US would have.

On top of that, the priesthood were considered a part of the highest caste established by Heimdall. Becoming one would make you an instant nobleman, but of course you will have a duty to your tribe and the gods.

So of course, it's something to really consider before jumping into.

I was thinking earlier, and I think I've figured out a little of what Odin's stance on humans is compared the the christian God. According to christians, their god is loving. He loves all of his children. Odin, on the other hand, has pride for us humans. He has that pride that a father has for his son. Thoughts on this theory?

Summer Solstice

Next Sunday (06/21) is the Summer Solstice.

How are you planning to act on it? Are you going to celebrate it on some way? Maybe light a fire? Please tell!

An idea I head:

I know it might sound ridiculous, but maybe we could set a certain time and have a drink together? I bet there are a lot of lone Heathens out there (me included), maybe even more who just quietly lurk here. Basically we'd drink a glass of beer/mead/wine/whatever at the set time, knowing there are some who do the same. I know I'd probably kind of enjoy it. Thoughts?

On a slightly related note, it will also be the St John's Eve, the christianized version of the heathen celebration. It however is, as so many of the good European things, in its core still heathen. So shout out to all other people named in some way after that guy: your name day is on a great heathen festival. Then again I don't know if the name day is also a heathen concept. Anyway we might be (very) indirectly named after Balder. I personally consider that in some way nice.

Fit body for Fit Mind

Resistance training to maintain and improve lean body mass has the most benefits

Cardiovascular health benefits best from weight training; more than endurance cardiovscular

>They found that men with high grip strength had a decreased risk of mortality; 23 percent lower for every 1 standard deviation (15 kg) increase in grip strength.

>Women with higher grip strength had a 19 percent decreased risk of mortality for every 1 standard deviation (10 kg) increase in grip strength.

>Researchers used to think that overweight elderly people had a higher risk of dying, but recent studies have shown that both overweight and underweight elderly people are more likely to die. More and more epidemiologists are therefore coming to the conclusion that it’s not bodyweight that determines how long you are likely to live, but lean body mass.

>We have shown that using typical resistance machines—three days a week at a moderate intensity (65 percent of your 10-repetition maximum) for three sets and 10 repetitions can lead to heart benefits," says Collier. He also adds that one should complete reps at a slow rate to get the most effective workout from the equipment.

I know you fags sperg out whenever someone brings up non-Germanic Paganism so I will make the disclaimer:

I AM NOT A CELTIC PAGAN, I AM A GERMANIC WHO IS HEAVILY INTERESTED IN THE CELTS

but now this is a serious question, why did the Gauls collapse? Why did the Celts die out in all the lands they once held, a vast empire composing of Iberia, Gaul, Briton and even parts of Germany and Italy at one time? Why is it that the only remnants now are a few scattered nations in the English isles and a few communities in Northern France?

To first have this discussion we must dispell the myth that the Gauls/Celts were savage barbarians. They had advanced road-ways that the Romans appropriated after conquering them. They invented chainmail and the helmets later adopted by the Romans and displayed superior skill in metal-working. Their shields and swords were just as well as the Romans while being highly decorated and aesthetically pleasing. Their stone-working predated Roman stonework and was almost as skilled in realism; even what is unrealistic is very aesthetically and symbolically pleasing. Their calendars were more accurate than Roman ones and perhaps more than even our modern Gregorian calendars. They had superior knowledge of the skies and of astronomy even compared to the Germans and Persians of the time.

the lands the Celts controlled were rich and fat with resources, Spain had the most gold in Europe and France had exquisite farm-land. Yet despite all of this, the Celts were not organized as a whole or into an empire and had a very loose, decentralized form of government.

How such an advanced culture could have survived for so long with a disorganized system like theirs is a mystery, and ultimately what brought their downfall (it took far too long for Vercingetorix to organize the Gauls into a rebellion, by the time he did Caesar had already won)

why did the Celts collapse? Why were they so advanced yet so primitive? Why did they not develop any written language, or is it possible that it was lost to us or that they used a different form of language (such as the druid sign language?)

Is it possible the Celts were originally more advanced than the Greeks and Romans and somehow, over time, declined into decentralized barbaric tribes?

On the Subject of Universalists and "No True Scotsman"

Is it possible for Universalists to be considered "Not true Asatruars"?

Obviously that sounds like a shitty feminist "Not real feminist" argument, but could it hold fast in this case?

An argument can be made that the best way to judge "True Asatruar-ness" is to observe how closely a heathen follows the Nine Noble Virtues. And in aggregate, I have no reason to believe that Universalists follow the Virtues less closely than Folkish worshippers. On the other hand, supporting the dilution of our religion by allowing niggers and spics to worship our gods could be imo is such a blatant bastardization that they have strayed too far.

Of course the counterargument is "who decides who is and isn't a true Asatruar?"

Do you believe that they are just misguided, retards, or absolute heretics? Or perhaps you have an entirely different opinion.

Discuss.

Resisting the Wolf Age - By Redwald

http://www.odinic-rite.org/main/resisting-the-wolf-age/

"The Odinic Rite does not seek to convert the masses, for during the Wolf Age the masses would bring harm and instability to our organisation. Yet we do indeed require members. The mission is, therefore, to show how membership of the Odinic Rite can benefit the individual and how in turn those benefits can radiate outwards to others.

In order to organise a micro-resistance to the Wolf Age, the whole concept of religion should be re-taught to those whom Wyrd may bring fleetingly our way. For although we do not preach, the positive thoughts, actions and religious rites our members perform has the effect of drawing in those who still have an ember of ethno-religious comprehension smouldering deep in their ancestral memory. We must immediately offer these people something of interest lest they drift back towards being spiritually unaware."

Red pill on Mithraism

Here's an interesting paper on Mithraism, the so-called mysterious cult from the east that

2nd century roman soldiers got into.

https://oregoncoug.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/christ-and-mithras-two-sides-of-the-same-coin.pdf

tl;dr

Mithraism was freemasonry avant-la-lettre. The similarities are uncanny (masonic parallels between brackets):

>a closed society with fabricated mysteries that have nothing to do with the origin of the appropriated symbols (obvious)

>designed to facilitate entryism into society's dominant institution, the army (masonic entryism into Catholic Church, the French republic, etc)

>with the purpose of safeguarding and promoting the early Christian communities in the Roman empire (masonic subversion of European values with gnostic egalitarian materialism)

I always found the Mithraic symbolism look out of place and 'contrived', much like wiccatru and freemasonry are. Read the pdf to find out what's behind the curtain.

Any /fringe/ crossboarders with other juicy details on Mithraism?

I am interested in all european pagan religions, but every new thread i see lately is about a non Germanic one, there are probably other places for that.

Theres a slavic one on the front page, a Hindu one on the second. There are also lots of board promotions, one even being for Islam something all of us probably want destroyed.

I am even more annoyed that there have been two celtic ones within a small period, you aren't going to hear different opinions nor find links to new sources.

Another thing that should be kept to a minimum is people asking if asatru is right for them, as in genetically.

Can we get back to germanic lore please.

R: 4 / I: 2 / P: 19

What is your opinion on die-hard christian folkish european nationalists such as Codreanu and his Iron Guard movement? Could norse heathens actually work together with such forces for the greater good of the white race or would our (ostensibly) great spiritual differences to them doom any such political undertaking to failure?

Aren't they essentially already pagan in spirit without knowing it? The way the legionnares embraced death during struggle kinda reminds me of how viking warriors looked forward to dying and meeting their kin in Valhalla. A lot of these notions of eternal glory are 100% european, which also gives away the fact that jewish christianity has been slowly europeanized over the centuries.

/asatru/ why choose pleb tier Germanic paganism? Why not Greco-Roman or even Egyptian? Neopaganism is without strong beliefs on things and has no real ideas of rotuals and is unorganized. To say the least its very wishy washy. You need a Zoroaster to organise it. And norse people didnt achieve bearly as much as romans, Greeks, egyptians, carthaginians and Zoroastrians.

EUROPA

>"Virtually all the major genetic components you find in contemporary Europeans are present among the earliest Europeans," said lead study author Eske Willerslev, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.

>"I don't think many would have predicted this."

>The scientists discovered that for millennia, Europe may have been home to a so-called "metapopulation" of modern humans — a group of distinct, separate populations that regularly mixed, grew and fragmented.

>The genetic contributions of the earliest Eurasians to modern European populations may not have arrived through a few distinct migrations from Asia to Europe, but instead through gene flow in various directions.

>Indeed, the major components of the modern European genome may date farther back than scientists had thought, all the way to the Upper Paleolithic Era, between 50,000 and 10,000 years ago, the researchers said.

>The fact that there was genetic continuity during this span of time is remarkable because "this period corresponds to the most extreme climate modern human populations ever lived through, particularly pronounced in Europe," Mirazón Lahr told Live Science.

>"For 30,000 years, ice sheets came and went, at one point covering two-thirds of Europe," she said.

https://archive.is/s5C9X

>Here we use genome-wide data from European individuals to investigate these relationships over the past 3,000 years, by looking for long stretches of genome that are shared between pairs of individuals through their inheritance from common genetic ancestors. We quantify this ubiquitous recent common ancestry, showing for instance that even pairs of individuals from opposite ends of Europe share hundreds of genetic common ancestors over this time period.

A judeo-christian missionary monk was teaching a bunch of young germanic saxon tribal males on the jewish Old Testament.

"Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship Jesus and accept that he is the only god in the universe and has made all wonders come true while Odin himself has not accomplished a single supernatural feat on his own."

At this moment a brave, greenpilled, redpilled, folkish, odinist, tall, muscular and blonde germanic warrior who had served at the legendary battle of the Teotoburg forest and who was favored by the gods of the norse pantheon themselves stood up and held a rock.

"How old is this rock?" he asked.

The arrogant christian missionary monk smirked his judeo-christian monotheistic smile and smugly replied: "6000 years old, you stupid unwashed barbarian pagan. That's how old the bible says the universe is, and the bible is the word of Y-hweh himself."

"Wrong", replied the brave anti-christian pagan germanic warrior. "This rock was shaped when the eternal void of the Ginnungagap was filled with all kinds of third density objects back when the gods of the germanic race planted the roots of Yggdrasil, the world tree holding the very fabric of our physical dimension and everything in the universe together. The unscientific judeo-monotheist assertions of your bible are thus proven utterly and completely wrong."

The christian monk was visibly shaken and dropped his copy of the jewish ten commandments. He stormed out of the Thing assembly, his eyes full of those delicious christian crocodile tears.

The christian monk lost his tenure and was banished from his monastery the next day. He mysteriously lost his life later that year and the coroner found that he died from trying to act out one of his numerous degenerate fetishes long supressed by his celibacy, having abandoned christianity altogether.

The 500 young germanic warriors all applauded and registered at the local anti-christian tribal alliance actively resisting Charlemagne's invasion that day. A raven named "Hugin" flew into the Thing assembly and shed a tear on the pavement. He reminded the students of the necessity of honoring the gods of their ancestors, thus fulfilling the thulean prophecy of a new and cleansed world. The Havamal was read several times, and Woden himself showed up and sent a bunch of lightning bolts into the christian churches right outside the woods, setting them aflame in the process.

Sigurd the dragon slayer watched all of this with great joy, smiling from Valhalla.

Moral Code and How To Revive Paganism In Christian Europe

Hello.

It has come to my attention that most pagan religious documents to this day never really had a moral code, or just had a simple one, that didn't have things such as "defend your folk against semitic religions".

Now, in this age, where there are monotheistic converting cults everywhere, we should ask ourselves the question, IF Europe becomes pagan (hopefully), then what should the moral code look like.

I could imagine an universal code for all pagan religions [excluding Wicca and other new age things, lel, fuck that shit] and we could merge it with today's law, after all, it seems like the World is soon going to be ravaged by another war, and you know that even Christianity rose during violence [the violence that also continued very very long], so it seems like that paganism is hopefully going to emerge, but this time hopefully in a more civilized manner than the christians of the past.

Now to the second topic.

Getting back to paganism in a christian (but not heavy religious) Europe is hard work to do.

All these saints, churches, art, myths, and stories relating to christian content, it is surely a loss of great value when it gets burned down and demolished.

I don't know how to approach this one, though.

Someone have any ideas?

How many other Heathens read Hindu works for reference on how it relates to Western Aryan religion?

You really should try reading the older texts, especially the Rig Veda, before it became corrupted with more Dravidian influence. Its fascinating how much the early Aryans had in common with Europeans but especially Germanics.

Just for an example, Agni, the God of Fire, is said to have 9 mothers, is the whitest of the gods, was born on the edge of the earth in the ocean, has golden teeth, and guards the outlying realms of the gods and channels sacrifices made to them

The resemblance to a certain god played by a nigger in recent films is staggering

Pagan Calender and Torques

I was thinking about how we judge time based on how far away from Jesus' death we are. Do you think that in certain situations (Perhaps one were pagans had large communities) we could use a different way to measure time. How do you think we should measure time, should it be from a certain significant event, if so what do you think that event should be.

Also since i rarely pay the gods any mind, what are all the annual occasions i should drink beer, pour libations (Good mead is too hard to get) and commune with the gods on.

Do you guys think that torques should be used in heathen ceremonies, Germans used them romans sometimes did, but the celts used them like crazy. They are symbols of status, of being a warrior and maybe they were used similarly to heathen arm bands also.

Hrafnkels Saga: A Saga For The Modern White?

> In some varieties of polytheism, it was considered possible to inflict punishment on gods by ceasing to worship them[citation needed]. Thus, Hrafnkell, protagonist of the eponymous Icelandic saga set in the 10th century, as his temple to Freyr is burnt and he is enslaved states that "I think it is folly to have faith in gods", never performing another sacrifice, a position described in the sagas as goðlauss, "godless". Jacob Grimm in his Teutonic Mythology observes that:

>It is remarkable that Old Norse legend occasionally mentions certain men who, turning away in utter disgust and doubt from the heathen faith, placed their reliance on their own strength and virtue. Thus in the Sôlar lioð 17 we read of Vêbogi and Râdey á sjálf sig þau trûðu, "in themselves they trusted".[1]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misotheism

>The eponymous main character, Hrafnkell, starts out his career as a fearsome duelist and a dedicated worshiper of the god Freyr. After suffering defeat, humiliation, and the destruction of his temple, he becomes an atheist. His character changes and he becomes more peaceful in dealing with others. After gradually rebuilding his power base for several years, he achieves revenge against his enemies and lives out the rest of his life as a powerful and respected chieftain. The saga has been interpreted as the story of a man who arrives at the conclusion that the true basis of power does not lie in the favor of the gods but in the loyalty of one's subordinates.

New guy thread #2, we've chosen Asatru

The question I have for today is, what do you think we should be saying about our ancestors that were Christian? For some 1500 years, those who came before us were Christian-

>are those ancestors waiting for us in Valhalla?

>Do they guide us as well?

>Do we venerate them the same as we do our ancient forefathers who followed the Old Gods?

>Are they welcomed with open arms by their Pagan ancestors?

My opinion is that they are kin, and as such they must be welcomed as kin, regardless of how misguided they were- because they were just that, misguided. They acted out of indoctrination and misinformation. But I'm not sure to what degree we should honor them regardless. Did they not betray themselves, the Gods, and their Folk? Forgive me if I'm preaching to the ch- er, warband, here, but I'd like to see if we share a common approach to this

Defending ourselves

It's clear at this point what we have to do to win; how we can defeat the menace of degeneracy. Break off. We have to be self reliant and have many children living off the land, and refusing to associate with the degeneracy of city life.

Our only obstacle is that the powers that be don't want this. They know that once we get enough of us doing this we'll win, so they stop us. They take our money to support their nihilistic hedon masses. They punish us by taking our children when we refuse to let them be brainwashed. They will not stop unless we make them.

But, you say, how can we possibly go about this? Do we hide in the woods? Do we build our own communities and raise militias to defend them from these aggressors? This brings us to the purpose of this thread.

Discuss your ideas on the solution to fighting back

On the topic of Wizards

So I went over to /fringe/ and read through a few of the threads there. It was interesting, from an outside perspective. But it got me thinking about wizardry in general and, more specifically, seiðr.

From what I've been able to find, seiðr was magick of some kind, usually done by women and men who did it were considered unmanly and violating the natural order (male practitioners wore robes (generally a female clothing item) to advertise that they were violating the natural order in order to use magick). Wikipedia seems to think it was sex magic of some kind, but I've haven't found a hard and fast rule on what it is.

The question I have is this: is the stuff that /fringe/ does considered seiðr? I can't tell, because although it is magick, most of the stuff they do ties in to Eastern practices (lots of chakra stuff and meditation). Or is it just plain old wizardry?

There was a thread up there that asked the same question to the /fringe/ guys, using a quote where Loki insults Odin by saying he is unmanly for practicing seiðr. Their response was to toss the opinion because Loki. Not a very conclusive answer.

inb4 "divide-and-conquer"; I genuinely am curious. This isn't to shit on the /fringe/ guys.

Asatru/Asatro News

Yggdrasill: The Realms of Jotunheim, Niflheim and Muspelheim:
A practical understanding of the Norse cosmology.
Article author: Max North @ Asatro News / Published: 22nd day of Winterfylleth mōnaþ 2264.RE / 21st day of "Winter filled" in Anglo-Saxon/Olde English (October) 2014
http://englishnews.org/asatroasatru/yggdrassil-muspelheim-jotunheim.html

“Just as the northern part was frozen, the southern was molten and glowing, but the middle of Ginnungagap was as mild as hanging air on a summer evening. There, the warm breath drifting north from Muspell met the rime from Niflheim, it touched it and played over it, and the ice began to thaw and drip. Life quickened in those drops, and they took the form of a giant. He was called Ymir.”

– The Creation. Norse Myths: Gods of the Vikings. Also found in "The Prose Edda".

In the Nordic cosmology upon Yggdrasill: the conceptual tree of life that forms the essence of the universe, there are additionally the realms of Jotunheim, Nifelheim and Muspelheim, they are where the conceptual Giants and Dragons originate from in all our ancient lore.

The metaphysical definition of a Giant in an interpretation of the Norse Germanic tradition of Seidr: A giant is a primal nature spirit of strong spiritual influence and impact they are usually seen as polarized vibrations if you were to view their psychologicaltimpact on a brain wave frequency chart. Such as anger, fear, anxiety etc. This however does not make them evil or something that must be ignored but rather a natural part of metaphysical reality whether if we like it or not.

Conceptually there are two classes of Giants the Frost Giants of Jotunheim and the Fire Giants of Muspelheim. The realm of Jotunheim is the home of the Jotuns, the Frost Giants, they are the most human like out of the two classes of giants. But rather of a morally grey consciousness their vibrations are very heavy like the rocky and snowy stormy mountains, the energy which they manifest is usually that of anxiety and depression. Frost giants and Fire giants were also seen as aspects of nature potentially used as teaching tools over generations to explain the unpredictable nature of frost and winter and of fire, volcanoes and lava fields as experienced along ancient coastal Norway and Iceland to this day.

However this so called energy of anxiety and depression is a part of our natural emotions and can be cleansed through Ritual and taking action and change for the better. The so called New Age movement in today’s world teaches that if you do not think in a negative way then negativity will not manifest into your life however this is simply not true and often creates the opposite effect.

The de-facto failure of motivation that led the New Age movement to cease to exist is illustrative of its failed understanding of human nature, much of the New Age movement was an act of defilement by Jewish cultural manipulators and individuals who sought to take advantage of the void left by the immediate collapse in the authority of other societal figures and norms. In reality Asatru is a counter-current, a force that goes against disorder, Asatru is structured, principled, organic, naturally formed over our ancestral history and is thus the only legitimate ‘traditionalist’ philosophy in accordance with our nature as Nordic & Germanic folk. In modern life anxiety, fear, ill motivation and depression in 90% of the population always come back around no matter how positively we think.

The negative emotions are not meant to be ignored but rather there to battle, see them as a necessary adversary in your life, on your path to becoming a more efficient and perfect individual so that you can overcome the attitudes of so many of our afflicted folk and become useful to our people.

A lame man can ride a horse.
The handless can be herdsmen.
The deaf can fight bravely,
A blind man is better than a burned man.
But a dead man is of no use.

Are the "Giants" of myth, folk tales of neanderthals

Neanderthals were big, they lived in generally colder places than modern humans, they sometimes bred with humans. Do you think that the mythological giants, are Neanderthals, i mean the similarities are there and Humans and neanderthals interacted with each other for a couple thousand years. To me it would make more sense that stories of a real species of different human was exaggerated and changed rather than it being completely mythical.

Off topic there are also folk stories in the islands north west of Australia, about ancient tiny people who were described as mischievous a bit like goblins, there was in fact a unique species of small human found in that area that they would have interacted with a very long time before those stories were told. The same thing could have happened with Neanderthals.

Third Reich and Paganism

Were the National Socialists trying to revive the Teutonioc pagan traditions in Germany?

From what I have read it seems like there were three possible futures for Germany religiously had they won the war.

Aryanize Christianity so it loses it's jewishness, Reviving the pre-Christian Pagan tradition or a new religion based on the common metahistory of Indo-Eurpeans.

There are many "Christian-NatSoc's" that claim that the NSDAP was a christian party. But completly ignore the easily observable fact that the Third Reich was full of pre-Christian pagan symbolism and pre-Christian traditions and ritalis were being reintroduced into the culture by the National Socialists. Their main symbol was the swastika ffs, an ancient Indo-European sun symbol.

The NSDAP was founded by members of the Thule Society, a theosophical research institute.

So what was the religious agenda for the reich in the long-term?

Song of the Sun

Decided to post an edited version of a rather obscure and little known Eddaic-like Poem. The original version is a mesh of Christian and pagan themes but I have made a version replacing all direct mentions of Christianity with Heathen references. The themes are still Christian however, especially heaven and Hell, so dont take it literally

Liberal wiccans whining about pagan Neofolk

So i saw this article about neofolk on an ostensibly "modern pagan" blog (this already rang some bells with me, since these are the kinds of names delusional non-pagan SJW "wicca" hipster liberals often give themselves) the other day and wanted to share it here:

>wildhunt.org/2010/12/the-murky-world-of-neofolk-politics.html

It's funny how these people shit themselves so much and bow down to anti-folkish antifa faggots and their propaganda drivel against greenpilled asatru-related music.

But this part here really is the funniest one by far:

>"Make no mistake, there are racist and neo-fascist bands within genres like neofolk, metal, and punk, and they should be opposed when they try to increase their audience by infiltrating Pagan or Heathen communities, but we should also be careful to thoroughly investigate for ourselves before acting (…)"

>by infiltrating Pagan or Heathen communities

^ As if these "anti-racist" wiccan fuckers had some kind of definite authority over the spiritual narrative of our ancestors and their folkish belief system! As if their botched and perverted version of Asatru was somehow the only "official" and definite one, with them having the right to call out "infiltrators", aka true folkish adherents of the norse faith as they please.

Their mindset is pretty fucking deluded but also incredibly arrogant at the same time. Just laughable, really.

Hello /asatru/. I was wondering how all of you conduct yourselves on a daily basis and what standards you adhere to.

eg.

>What do you wear, how to you look, what jobs (if any) do you work? Are there kids in the picture, are you rural or cosmopolitan, did you move in order to be more in touch with your forebears, do you abstain from modern comforts, (deodorant, scented washes, make up, moisturiser, processed foods etc. etc.), do you lift, do you have animals?

>Is meditation on the regular with everyone? Are you celibate?

I'm trying to remodel myself in a series of lifestyle changes to something more inline with a disciplined, traditionalist/nationalist/asatru existence. So I was curious as to how others are going about it.

If anything, I'd really appreciate folks just posting their dress style, whether they're rural (or moved closer to ancestral homelands) and occupation.

Question: Why not try to organize much better?

Hi, guys! I'm not Asatru, but I do have a question. Why don't you- and other Pagan religions- try to organize yourselves more? I mean, it was organized religion that tried to destroy you and were quite successful in converting many peoples, thus shouldn't you guys take this into consideration? I know it sounds retarded, but wouldn't you guys want to fight fire with fire?

No, I did not get the idea from Crusader Kings II

I want to build a small reconstruction of irminsul and write a paper about it's significance (Charlemagne cutting it down causing his Germanic allies to turn against him.)

My question is, how do I build it? Do I need a specific type of wood?

Also, if you happen to have an idea that BTFO's mine please let me know

Pagans Against Wicca!

We need to find a way to unite the Anglo Saxon tribes against the Marxist dialectic of wiccans because the fact is German paganism is technically "Celt" or at least part of the great Celtic empire that stretched from Syria to Ukraine to Western Europe.

"Empire" may be the wrong word but the people were united with decentralized tribes, with an almost Pan-Libertarian leadership.

Marvel sucks but they did an interesting short lived series on a Druid that made him very base and brutal.
It soon was canceled (of course) but I like to think of it as the first non-Marxist non-Christian pop-culture expression of Celtic mythology in a very very long time.

Strangely enough he gets into a fight with a Satan like character. Versions of Satanism has often been the dark side of Paganism an the anti-thesis to SJW wiccans because it holds closer to evolutionary and racial science.

If we could harness these themes into a powerful narrative we may be able to re-invent Druidism and save our Aryan brothers from faggotry!!

Which sagas and old texts are a good place to start for reading old Asatru lore? And what would you say is the right way to read/interpret them?

I recently read the entire Havamal and was impressed, it's all good advice regarding traveling and handling people who are assholes while still being a good person yourself. What should I read next?

I quickly decided it seems best when you approach it with the mindset of listening to advice of a wise old man by a fire–it's not a set of commands or rules, exactly, like the christfags have, but you would be very foolish not to listen, and remember the advice when you have trouble in your life. Thoughts on this?

New Survive The Jive video: Lord of this World and his Pagan Temple at Uppsala

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMDCi8ANiuE

Uppsalla was perhaps the most important site for the Norse pagans. They used to hold an asembly called the Thing of all Swedes and a sacrifice called Dísablót in honour of the disir.

The 12th century Danish chronicler Saxo Grammaticus thought that Odin himself had lived here, but the site was more widely associated with Ingvi Frey, who was known as the Lord of the Swedes. Christian accounts of Ingvi Frey sometimes call him the king of Turkey or a son of Odin, but he was in fact a far older deity and one of the most important. The Icelandic chief and author of the Eddas, Snorri Sturlusson wrote that Ingvi-Frey had lived at Uppsalla.

He was associated with sacral kingship and divine blood, he founded the Yngling dynasty.

The 11th century German chronicler, Adam of Bremen also wrote of the importance of Uppsalla to the pagans. He said that the temple there was covered in gold and that it contained statues of Odin, Thor and Ingvi-Frey.

The Pagan's Dilemma

"Paganism is the answer! It is the spiritual beliefs of my ancestors, the religion that they practiced before foreign infiltration via Christianity brutally destroyed Asatru and converted my people. It's because of Christianity that they were neutered and enslaved through a 'turn the other cheek' mentality, forcing them to stand idly by while their enemies would come and ravish their lands, just as is happening today. Thor and Odin are strong warrior characters who live by noble virtues that resonate with my own concepts of honor. Surely through paganism we can return to our spiritual roots and once again make Europa great."

Excellent premise! And yet what does this entail in detail? As I've already told you, >>3654 , your religion was killed and butchered. There were no priests or spiritual teachers to guide you in the creation of this movement. All that you have is a romantic understanding of what it would have been. That besides, just how many of you have done an animal sacrifice? What about a human sacrifice? Have any of you killed a man at all?

What kind of pagans are you? How are you interacting with nature as you sit behind your computer screen?

How do you expect to be the solution to our problems? How do you intend to actually return Europa to paganism? What is your plan?

Here me out on this /asatru/. Ive had this theory for a long time but Ive never shared it with anyone but idiotic tumblr-heathens that had no idea what I was talking about years ago and I just recently found this place. You lot seem like the good types of Heathens (folkish) who study your lore and the runes so I think you'll have a better idea of what I'm talking about here.

Now its generally accepted knowledge in scholarly study that Odin was not always the prime deity in the Germanic pantheon. There was an older god who is believed to have at one time been the chief of the Gods, Tyr. Evidence of this is given by the fact that Tyr's name in older languages, Tiwaz, Zui and Tues are all connected to the Indo-European words for God. Zeus in Greek, Deus in Latin, Dyaus in Sanskrit, all of which roughly mean "sky father." This is rather odd considering that Tyr is given a very minor role in the Norse versions of the myths and Odin is the supreme God. There is no indication of when this change in the myth happened, whether during the times of the Germanic tribes or before in history lost to us is unknown.
Now assuming you know all of this, the big question is why was Tyr replaced with Odin and how? Was he usurped forcibly by a young Wotan and given an inferior position in his court? This would seem likely as Wotan was a warlike God, but it is not quite a satisfying explanation.

Years ago, I came up with a new theory. I started to really examine Tyr for the only myth of him that remains, the binding of Fenris. I believe there is a reason this is one of the only myths that was preserved of him because it is central to why Tyr was given an inferior position in the pantheon. Although it is not stated in Snorris rendition of the myth, and as we should all know Snorri was not always the most reliable source in the Prose Edda, I believe that before Fenris was bound Tyr was the king of the Gods. When Tyr lost his hand and thus, his ability to fight and swear oaths, he was no longer suitable as the king because the Germanic tribes expected their kings to fight and be competent warriors. At this point Odin rose up and became the new war god, the new king of the Gods, and gave Tyr a lower position in the pantheon.

I am by no means stating this as truth or saying its divine inspiration, I want to hear your opinions on this. If you think Im retarded let me know. But I feel there might be something to this idea so I just wanted to see what you think.

The Famed Viking Solar Stone & The Uunartoq Disc Were Extraordinary Tools for Navigation
http://www.redicecreations.com/article.php?id=31803

From the Saga of King Olaf the Holy:

The weather was thick and snowy as Sigurður had predicted. Then the king summoned Sigurður and Dagur (Rauðúlfur’s sons) to him. The king made people look out and they could nowhere see a clear sky. Then he asked Sigurður to tell where the sun was at that time. He gave a clear assertion. Then the king made them fetch the solar stone and held it up and saw where light radiated from the stone and thus directly verified Sigurður’s prediction.

One of the reasons why the existences of Solar Stones / Sunstones have been disputed is because they are contained in the Saga of King Olaf the Holy, a tale with many magical elements, but today we know it really existed. This also puts many of the other extraordinary tales in question, in terms of validity.

The Vikings achieved some extraordinary things. They were way ahead of their time. They refined the science of metallurgy and produced the revered Ulfbehrt sword. They also took navigation to a whole new level by using solar stones and carved wooden discs, as new finds have shown. These are just two of the recently studied finds that takes the Vikings out of the realm of the stereotypical "brute barbarians" into something much more sophisticated, intelligent and ingenious

I need help

/Asastru/ars, I'm in a bit of a rut.

I've revoked Christianity and want to begin worshipping the gods of my forefathers. The only problem is, I've become split between Asatru and Celtic Reconstructionism, and I'm vacillating between the the two.

My ethnicity (as far as I can tell short of giving my DNA to the gubment through 23andMe):
>2 parts Irish
>1 part British
>2 parts Italian
>3 parts Polish

I've done some research and have found the coat of arms of my predecessors in Ireland and Poland (So I definitely have ancestry in these two areas). Ethnically, I'm split evenly between Celtic Paganism and maybe Asatru (I think Germanics might have settled in Poland at some point, might be wrong).

I've always felt strongly drawn to my Irish heritage more than anything else. But at the same time, I want to properly honor my ancestors and the gods of my people, who might have been followers of Asatru for all I know.

I have asked the gods for a sign and the closest I came was a dream in which I watched a man practicing martial forms with an iron sword and I remarked that he was making a mess of the traditional __ style. When I awoke I couldn't remember which word I had spoken, but I knew it was either "Irish" or "Norse".

I'm not asking for you to make a decision for me. I'm just asking for input and advice. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The ancient norse settlements in eastern europe

Not many people nowadays are aware of the fact that Kievan Rus and in extension to that most "slavic" states trace their roots back to seafaring norse viking explorers who then in turn became eastern germanics in the centuries that followed, adopting church slavonic as their language during the long process of christianization in eastern europe, which in conjunction with some race-mixing resulted in what is known as "slavs" today. The exclusivist theory of pan-slavism denies this connection between vikings and eastern germanics/slavs though. According to it, all slavic-speaking people are actually an entirely different race separate from the other white european sub-racial clusters. This is obviously false, ideologically motivated disinformation.

Official heathen anthem

So imagine for a moment that all citizens of Iceland converted to germanic heathenry overnight. Naturally, the currently extremely christian Lofsöngur's lyrics would have to be changed to suit this new spiritual reality.

What could the theoretical lyrics of such a heathen anthem possibly entail? Stanzas from the Eddas? Quotes from random norse sagas or skaldic poetry of germanic peoples in general?

Around Abrahamics; Never Relax

I feel really comfortable around Abrahamics. They all seem dangerous to me. Christians, Jews, Muslims… all of them are repulsive to me. I have to pretend I am one of them any time I come across one but it bothers me. Only religion I like is Norse Paganism. I can see elements within each Abrahamic religion that I like but it's always tied up with stuff that just makes me feel uncomfortable and makes me feel out of place and like I'd be executed if a religion war broke out at a later time.

Around greenpilled and redpilled Norsemen I can relax.

Why is there so much hate for Asatru on other parts of 8chan, specifically /pol/? I understand the Christianity board, but I would think a religion that came from the hearts of the Germanic people would be more appealing. Lets address some of the issues they bring up
R: 31 / I: 8 / P: 25

The Ancient Religion was Destroyed and Yours is Just Roleplaying

How do you respond to this? For surely you will struggle. Surely you are forced to accept the fact that the Christians destroyed your religion, desecrated your temples, ravaged your sacred graves, slaughtered your druids, usurped your festivals, and converted or killed all of your follows. The entire institution of the old religion was slaughtered, and remained slaughtered for a thousand years.

Only now, as a matter of what is purely a historical interest or romanticism, do you look at it again. The scholars look at it to understand it: to codify an ancient society and their beliefs.

But what you have is romanticism.

You do not have the legitimacy to practice this religion. You act like you are following a religion of your ancestors, but you are really just pretending that you are them, following what you think were their beliefs, and overall amounting to disrespecting them.

This is the criticism levied upon you. This everyone knows, and for this reason everyone denounces you as a roleplayer.

How therefore do you respond to these claims? How can you expect us to take you seriously when you lack this legitimacy?

We sympathize with the ancient faith, and we have a lot in common with you, but where we differ is that we recognize it's dead, and you're trying to keep it alive in a way we consider almost shameful.

You are identical to neo-nazis.

What you believe is just considered less offensive.

Chan Culture and the Aryan Spirit

Hello, nice board you have here! I made this thread on /pol/, and it didn't really get too many responses before getting called a slide thread and basically dying. I didn't know where else to post this, and this board seems relatively active, so I'll try here.

What I'm trying to ask is, from what did "chan culture" arise? Would you guys say it is Oriental, or Aryan? Perhaps something else entirely? It seems that the majority of chan posters are White, but that of course varies. In any case, is it compatible with a more ideal Aryan world? Or would it not have a place but in the Judaic society in which we live?

I'm not sure if this type of thread is appropriate but I'm really interested in what other people might think of this, so thanks ahead of time.
R: 23 / I: 1 / P: 25

Why we should embrace "LARPers".

Now I am using the term "LARPer" as defined by another anon meaning any reenactment or reconstructionalist societies (even though there is a huge difference).

First I do not see at all why we should try to appeal to the mainstream. Or why we should attract "normies". Did you guys forget how horrible most people are nowadays? Do you really want to attract more degenerates? Do you want the same half assed christians to convert and half ass our religion? At least so called "LARPers" are passionate about what they do. It takes a lot of commitment to be in a reenactment society. Commitment in which are religion needs.

Same goes for Metalheads too. I mean at least most metal bands who sing about vikings or the gods do it in a respectful manner in fact most of these bands are norse and are practically singing about the stories they were raised on. They should be respected for what they are doing. They are doing today what Wagner did before them and what Skalds did thousands of years ago. In fact Skaldic poetry was greatly revered in Norse culture. I think Bragi would approve of these metalbands. And I fail to see how they are harming us by spreading our stories and opening up more people to our "religion".

Our biggest recruitment tools are reenactment/reconstructionalist societies and metal. And yet people are suggesting we alienate those people for whom? The shallow degenerate sluts posting nudes on instagram? Or the backwoods bible thumping older generations which probably never read the bible to begin with but obsess over Christ and his "miracles"?

If you do succeed in alienating the "LARPers" and "Metalheads" then Asatru would probably dwindle so by way more than half. All because you want degenerates and christfags to think you are not nerd.

And people quote Varg here all the time well not only was he a black metal musician but also this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY5gjqpnmHM (him dressing up and fighting). Are you going to say that Varg should have no place in Asatru too now because of this? Despite all his contributions to the cause (through his books, videos, and research).

I rather being hanging out with folks in pic related than christfags or modern mainstream society (you know the nigger and celeb obsessed degenerate society).

Tl;DR You think that by appealing to supposed "LARPers" is appealing to the lowest common denominator when in reality appealing to the mainstream is.

Liveability/ political climate of Scandinavian nations?

Hello asatru. I'm no dedicated Odinist, but I am very interested in adopting a significant degree of the lifestyle and living in one of the countries of my ancestors (family left Sweden two generations ago, for a non European country). So I come to ask of any who know better, which of the Nordic countries are best suited and most accommodating of a traditionalist, nationalist, asatru lifestyle? I have narrowed it down to Norway and Iceland, for freedom of speech, absence from Marxism (I don't want my children being force fed that crap at their mandatory government schools) and security for the future (outside the EU/ least likely to be involved in future conflicts)

Iceland is the obvious choice as far as a small, wholesome community is concerned, away from the troubles of the mainland and they are just recently beginning the development of a temple to the old Gods but the trade off is more difficulty getting in, and a limited natural forest.

What would you do?

Apologies in advance if this is too off topic for asatru

What does /asatru/ think of /edgy/ and the new theme I made?

I don't like that when I visit /asatru/ your theme you guys made is gone. You should at least have a more minimalist version of your main theme that's on by default when coming to this board, even if the "heavy duty" theme is reserved for those that want to intentionally pick it.

I got this idea to make my /edgy/ theme while in the astral and started work on it immediately, working non-stop all day and all through the night, after waking up.

If you have any edgy flags of a Norse nature to add to the /edgy/ board as well I'd like that and you guys can go ahead and make threads on there espousing the edginess of certain aspects of Norse Paganism.

I think the current board theme, no offense, is absolutely atrocious. I think it can be quite alienating for new people. And now it even seems like the option to change it is gone, but that could also just me being inept.

So with the beginning of spring coming up (At least in the parts of the world that matter), I thought it would be nice for the board theme to reflect that.

New thread because I am an attention whore and the old ones seems to be done.

pls respond

Hermeticism

Anyone here into hermeticism? It was the first form of neo paganism, back in the Renaissance era.
I'm not going to discuss it in great detail here, it has quite a tradition.

I've found that Asatru and Hermeticism work really well together. Hermeticism is more based around magic ritual, and the Gods of Asatru work very well within its framework. (Because hermeticism itself contains a lot of elements from Norse religion)

I reccomend checking it out. It's e basis of freemasonry, Thelema, Wicca, Satanism, and pretty much any belief system containing ritual magic. Asatru as it is understood contains heavy elements of Hermeticism, as does any contemporary western form of occultism.

Odinist Fundraiser

IT'S HAPPENING!

Ladies & Gents, there is an Odinist fundraiser on for Odinia!

Those of you who are pro-white and pro-European and care about the future of our people should consider helping out with whatever you can spare.

/Asatru/ above all things should support our Folk and our religion, so this board should be a good choice.

I am acquainted with the lady that runs the site and she basically has outdated computer woes. She has a YouTube channel and a primary website.

They are pro-white, and she is highly educated, intelligent, and advocates well for our race. This is the kind of thing we need more of. Lots of

White movements have tried to reform our worldview without access to the kind of information she has regarding our real Gods (notably Ben

Klassen forming Creativity, Dr. Pierce trying to reform our worldview, etc.).

But, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. We already HAVE a religion we need to promote. It will help us to survive as a race and is as important as

the Mantra, White genocide awareness, and it's basically the spiritual component to PLEs.

So, please take a look at the fundraiser and consider a donation! Thanks, /Asatru/.

I forge charms and runes out of double worked wrought iron.

If you can show me a few symbols or patterns you'd like, I'd be happy to show you the finished product.

I saw a Facebook group about paganism and when I looked around it was a bunch of bull about magic and praying for each other…. I'm confused, paganism isn't about bullshit magic is it? I know there can be elements of it yes but they're talking about sending their vibes to each other and such
