Christian persecution at near genocide levels

>Review estimated that one in three people suffer from religious persecution.

>Christians were the most persecuted religious group, it found.

>Its findings come after more than 250 people were killed and more than 500 wounded in attacks at hotels and churches in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.

>Mr Hunt, who is on a week-long tour of Africa, said he thought governments had been "asleep" over the persecution of Christians but that this report and the attacks in Sri Lanka had "woken everyone up with an enormous shock".

>He added: "I think there is a misplaced worry that it is somehow colonialist to talk about a religion that was associated with colonial powers rather than the countries that we marched into as colonisers.

>"What we have forgotten in that atmosphere of political correctness is actually the Christians that are being persecuted are some of the poorest people on the planet."

Come, Lord Jesus

The silver lining is that the mainstream are having to admit the persecution. That is a welcome change against the "Christians are oppressors" marxist narrative.

The purpose of this board is to discuss Christian topics

It was started because of dissatisfaction with censorship by mods on /christian/, and that's still an issue almost 4 years later

We had a first raid today, (probably just one cross /b/ & /christian/ poster), that challenges the rule of "no censorship". Obviously spam and pornography are counter to the board purpose, but does banning and deleting provide an avenue for bias in moderation? I've concluded that it could, and in the interest of total transparency the mod practices will be as follows:

>all bans have been lifted

>anti-spam settings have been enabled (captcha to start thread, new thread limit/hour, robot9000 script)

>lewd and pornographic images will be deleted, but the post will remain

>spam threads will be locked, but not deleted so anyone can judge for themselves whether or not the post really was spam

>one day decide to order a Bible and to read about creation and maybe some uplifting stories

>not getting serious about it, just another self-help book

>suddenly the Lord reveals Himself

History of 8chan's Christian boards

Help me connect the dots. Long-time posters please add what you know.

This is almost entirely pieced together from snapshots on web.archive.org

8chan created by hotwheels in October

/christian/ created in September

Alex is the owner. He's a Southern Baptist.

Views on moderation: "I am personally a Baptist, and will defend my views as a poster, but dialogue and points made from other perspectives won't be deleted."

The board reaches 6,000 posts by the end of the year.

The 8chan site has some outages and breaks in November as development progresses.

/christian/ IRC channel couples the board

Alex remains BO

Board hits 238,000 posts by the end of the year.

/christianity/ created in February

BO cites perception of censorship on /christian/ as the cause.

"I noticed /christian/ had a lot of censorship so I'm starting a new board. I promise not to delete anything simply because I disagree."

Dead board. 154 posts by the end of the year.

/christ/ is created in April. It had some activity prior in 2014, but was somehow deleted or lost and the new first post is 4/19/15.

Rules: "This board is for Christians of all denominations; that being said, people of other religions, agnostics, and atheists, are very welcome to post, ask questions, and debate with us if they so desire. Spam will be deleted. This board is also SFW."

Board log is made available and stickied at top.

The board reaches 8,800 posts by the end of the year.

/chrisitan/ swaps hands in June. New BO "Peter" is a Catholic who makes a goal of stopping a spam and CP problem the board was facing.

New set of rules at the end of June. Ban policy: 1 day for rule violation, permaban for repeat offenders.

Board log requested, unclear if it is provided.

Unnamed catholic becomes BO in July.

Ezekiel becomes BO in August. Previously the owner of a dead 16chan christian board.

Tutor is a volunteer.

Baptist vs Catholic funposting epidemic begins.

Discord active

366,000 posts by the end of the year

/christ/ changes BO in August to "nazarenefag"

13,00 posts by the end of the year

/christianity/ irrelevant

/christian/ volunteer roster grows, almost exclusively catholic with one baptist and one presbyterian by July.

Perception of anti Protestant (especially Baptist) bias in moderation present

Tutor (Catholic) becomes BO in September.

Ban policy: "Post that break the rules will be met with temporary bans in accordance with the severity of the post, up to 5 days. Permanent bans will be given out for posting pornography, explicit material, after being given multiple temporary bans, and raids or obvious trolling from other boards."

Log is private. Posts are being deleted from threads.

8ch.net/christian/archive activates in July to preserve threads marked for archival

Rolling politics thread set up to remove political discussion from other threads

board reaches 580,000 posts by the end of the year

/christ/ hits 15,000 posts

/christianity/ still irrelevant

Tutor remains BO of /christian/

381 Council of Constantinople version of Nicene creed changed to the definition of a Christian

5 day limit for ban removed from ruleset

Catholic bias in moderation becomes inarguable

Flags disabled

750,000 posts by the end of the year

/christ/ has become notorious for gnostic posters

/christianity/ revived

>2019 (present)

/christian/ is plagued with heavy handed mods who issue flippant permabans

the issue may be exacerbated because of the sharp rise in popularity of VPNs

board enjoys top 10 traffic among all 8chan boards

owner and volunteers see the discord as a preferred tool to congratulate themselves on how catholic they are, board is ancillary

log is sealed tightly

/christ/ is a dead board on life support

the only posts are ctrl+c ctrl+v "saint of the day" threads, and posts complaining about the "saint of the day" threads

/christianity/ is a moderately slow board, 2600 posts in a few months putting it top 40 at this time

no censorship

public log

protestant bent as it serves as a sanctuary from catholic /christian/, but not to the level of a "hugbox" or "echo chamber"

Christian Resources

It would be useful if there was a big database of Christian resources. So many supposedly unbiased, objective internet monopolies are hostile to Christianity. What if there was a conclusive database that collected as much history, theology, and the like as possible, while also warning away from false teachings. As a plus, make it work like the sites with the entire Bible on them, but weigh the pros and cons of each translation.

The problem would be approaching resources that denominations disagree on. Would there be different databases for each denomination, or an analysis of each denomination and their views?

Except that this is just a thread for sharing Christian resources. That would be a huge undertaking regarding things I'm not an authority on, so I'm not equipped to do so. I suppose it doesn't have to just be old stuff, any sites or media focused on Christian content can also be shared here. Also I just took these images from /christian/, I'm not positive on everything in them.

Experiencing the Enemy, Spiritual Battle.

I'm not ashamed to tell you, I saw sexual dreams today and a couple days earlier. Both, were caused by the unclean spirits trying to destroy my life. These unclean spirits shall always try to attack you at night, when sleeping, when you are least aware and active. You must will yourself out of the dream that is against God's will for you, to not want it makes the unclean spirits unable to attack you in your dreams. Put on the whole armor of God if you are not born again, be born again. The enemy knows that I know too much, he's trying to get me any way he can. I put my trust in the name of Jesus and in the Holy Spirit to keep me safe from harm's way.

There is little time left, all those who say are Christians, are you really a Christian or are you still holding onto your unclean spirits? You do not need to have them anymore, praise the Lord for the amazing power he gave to man to battle the demonic forces when he gave his own life on the cross! Prayer and commands in the name of Jesus are what scare the demons away, never forget this, brothers and sisters.

And to those who are catholics and of any other religion that bases the chances of getting to heaven through works, your good deeds are filthy rags to God, he doesn't want them, he wants you to believe in his Son who died for your sins and so that you may get to heaven through Him for He is the only way, for others before him have been thieves and robbers.

In the last decade Churches have become too passive

And I don't like it. Have you guys ever noticed how in some churches people don't really do anything anymore other than show up for church and class and then that's it? That's like 90%+ of the churches right now.

I'm getting tired of this. I don't feel anything anymore when visiting church, and people just disappoint in the purposeful sheepishness of their ways. This has directly affected my behavior, as I have begun to do the same things (such as going with the flow instead of being outspoken or asking difficult questions), and it is rather frustrating. On top of this there is little to no interaction with people outside the church anymore. Why is it that people who claim to be a part of a fellowship don't really keep in contact, hang out, or do anything together outside of church? The church has taken a sterile and 'hands-off' approach, which is mildly disturbing.

There needs to be a fine balance between action and prayer.

It's like the church itself is a zombie bumbling around with little direction other than the steering of the pastor and elders that act as the brain.

You will hear little to no talk about the gays, human rights, politics, laws, the knowledge of the bible, or even Apologetics for that matter…

I haven't had a decent conversation with someone about any of these topics without somehow ruining the mood due to its connotations. It's almost as if people are afraid to speak their minds… And rarely, if ever, have a conversation involving these things that we should be extremely concerned about for the church, since it has already dramatically impacted and damaged many denominations, and ruined countless believers lives.

Do u anons have a community where you feel connected? Even having any resemblance of a good discussion is far fetched even online anymore.

Theonomy and Resonstructionism

Thoughts on theonomy or reconstructionism?

>Conversely, Christian reconstructionism's founder, Rousas Rushdoony, wrote in The Institutes of Biblical Law (the founding document of reconstructionism) that Old Testament law should be applied to modern society, and he advocates the reinstatement of the Mosaic law's penal sanctions. Under such a system, the list of civil crimes which carried a death sentence would include murder, homosexuality, adultery, incest, lying about one's virginity, bestiality, witchcraft, idolatry or apostasy, public blasphemy, false prophesying, kidnapping, rape, and bearing false witness in a capital case.[20]

>Kayser points out that the Bible advocates justice, and that biblical punishments prescribed for crimes are the maximum allowable to maintain justice and not the only available option, because lesser punishments are authorized as well.

This movement got lumped in with unrelated movements (like pentecostal NAR, the republican party) under the banner of "dominionism" in the 90s. Which ultimately led to people dismissing it entirely. Was this CIA trickery? Do they fear if christians all adopted this mindset?

Most historians agree that there is no reason to believe that Jesus even existed, do you want to know why this is happening? Why it seems that the secular world is conspiring against Christ?

We all want to work nice jobs and help build the infrastructure that is necessary for a secular society to function; quit building this earthly kingdom; build God's kingdom instead. Quit trying to work for money; store up treasures in heaven instead. Quit facilitating all the scientific research that supposedly disproves the bible. I figured my faith is strong enough to withstand a monologue by a fictional atheist denouncing God, so I plunged ahead, but now that I'm about a half dozen pages in I'm finding it difficult because I think it's seriously interminable.

Dostoevsky was amazing, a man ahead of his time, perfectly able to depict the kind of whining badly catechized Christian breakaways are still doing to this day. Misunderstanding God, free will, the love of Christ, etc etc etc. It's all there, angst and all.

How badly will it diminish my experience if I just skim to the end where Alyosha tells Ivan to shut his blasphemous mouth?

[Or so I hope he will]

Atheism is not a threat to Christianity

There were no atheists mentioned in the bible yet most Christians act like atheism is the biggest threat to Christianity(it's not). The biggest threat to Christianity is worldliness and there is an all-encompassing word for worldly people, pagans! All these supposed atheists are just pagans, people in bible times would call atheists pagans. Pagans are worldly people and worldly people are pagans meaning most supposed Christians are actually pagans.

US Supreme Court set to decide whether a cross is promotion of religion

>The Supreme Court is diving into a debate about the place of religious symbols in public life in a case about a cross-shaped war memorial in Maryland.

>The case the high court is hearing Wednesday involves a 40-foot-tall, concrete cross on a large, grassy highway median in Maryland, just outside Washington. The nearly 100-year-old cross was built as a memorial to area residents who died in World War I.

>The District of Columbia-based American Humanist Association say the cross should be moved to private property or modified into a nonreligious monument such as a slab or obelisk. The group lost the first round in court, but in 2017 an appeals court ruled the cross unconstitutional.

>Defending the cross at the high court are The American Legion, which raised money for the cross and completed it in 1925, and Maryland officials, who took over maintenance of the cross nearly 60 years ago to preserve it and address traffic safety concerns. Maryland officials argue that the cross doesn’t violate the Constitution because it has a secular purpose and meaning.

The obvious answer is that the cross represents Christianity, but this is no issue with the establishment clause of the First Amendment

<Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

This is set up to be a win for conservatives that sets precedent for more ambiguous cases

Did this really happen?

Excerpt from The Life of Paulus the first Hermit, by St. Jerome:

7. But to return to the point at which I digressed. The blessed Paul had already lived on earth the life of heaven for a hundred and thirteen years, and Antony at the age of ninety was dwelling in another place of solitude (as he himself was wont to declare), when the thought occurred to the latter, that no monk more perfect than himself had settled in the desert. However, in the stillness of the night it was revealed to him that there was farther in the desert a much better man than he, and that he ought to go and visit him. So then at break of day the venerable old man, supporting and guiding his weak limbs with a staff, started to go: but what direction to choose he knew not. Scorching noontide came, with a broiling sun overhead, but still he did not allow himself to be turned from the journey he had begun. Said he, "I believe in my God: some time or other He will show me the fellow-servant whom He promised me." He said no more. All at once he beholds a creature of mingled shape, half horse half man, called by the poets Hippocentaur. At the sight of this he arms himself by making on his forehead the sign of salvation, and then exclaims, "Holloa! Where in these parts is a servant of God living?" The monster after gnashing out some kind of outlandish utterance, in words broken rather than spoken through his bristling lips, at length finds a friendly mode of communication, and extending his right hand points out the way desired. Then with swift flight he crosses the spreading plain and vanishes from the sight of his wondering companion. But whether the devil took this shape to terrify him, or whether it be that the desert which is known to abound in monstrous animals engenders that kind of creature also, we cannot decide.

8. Antony was amazed, and thinking over what he had seen went on his way. Before long in a small rocky valley shut in on all sides he sees a mannikin with hooked snout, horned forehead, and extremities like goats' feet. When he saw this, Antony like a good soldier seized the shield of faith and the helmet of hope: the creature none the less began to offer to him the fruit of the palm-trees to support him on his journey and as it were pledges of peace. Antony perceiving this stopped and asked who he was. The answer he received from him was this: "I am a mortal being and one of those inhabitants of the desert whom the Gentiles deluded by various forms of error worship under the names of Fauns, Satyrs, and Incubi. I am sent to represent my tribe. We pray you in our behalf to entreat the favour of your Lord and ours, who, we have learned, came once to save the world, and 'whose sound has gone forth into all the earth.'" As he uttered such words as these, the aged traveller's cheeks streamed with tears, the marks of his deep feeling, which he shed in the fullness of his joy. He rejoiced over the Glory of Christ and the destruction of Satan, and marvelling all the while that he could understand the Satyr's language, and striking the ground with his staff, he said, "Woe to you, Alexandria, who instead of God worships monsters! Woe to you, harlot city, into which have flowed together the demons of the whole world! What will you say now? Beasts speak of Christ, and you instead of God worship monsters." He had not finished speaking when, as if on wings, the wild creature fled away. Let no one scruple to believe this incident; its truth is supported by what took place when Constantine was on the throne, a matter of which the whole world was witness. For a man of that kind was brought alive to Alexandria and shown as a wonderful sight to the people. Afterwards his lifeless body, to prevent its decay through the summer heat, was preserved in salt and brought to Antioch that the Emperor might see it.

The problem with /Christianity/

Day after day, time after time, people come here and fall to sin. The problem we are facing every day on this board is not the fact that people are trying to talk about Christian theology, but rather that the website itself is plagued with all that is unholy. Pornography, satanism, hardcore agendas blaspheming God, the occult, the downfall of civilization, and much more.

All of the above mentioned things seem to have been a possible reason for by some anons here ended up on this board or site as a whole. I'm sure many of you may have come from halfchan. However, halfchan was never a place for growth or theological reasoning in the first place. What originally may have been an exciting place for entertainment that many anons stumbled upon, has instead turned into the very shackles that Christians attempt to overcome in the first place.

At this point, one of the biggest problems is that people that have even moderately right-leaning beliefs are being pushed so far into the deepweb that they are being exposed to some of the most vile and asinine garbage known to mankind. Many of you are probably addicted to sexual immorality, or any number of other things, and it has gotten a hold of your hearts.

It must be asked at this point:

>why has there not been a website created to get away from this filth?

It is sickening that we end up here day after day, only to find ourselves just as lost as when we first started the search for God. It would be great to hear everyone's thoughts on this. May God bless all of you, and unite us in our faith.

Moral Question

The lady at the leasing office made a mistake and I'm paying $170/month less than what they intended. I have a three bedroom apartment, but we're paying the two bedroom rate.

Today I gave my first rent check and she noticed the mistake. She knocked on the door and asked me to resign a lease with the corrected amount, and pay the difference. I declined because I've already signed for the lower amount. She tried to guilt me by saying she would have to personally pay the difference, but I still declined. Giving her the benefit of the doubt (that she wasn't simply lying about her liability), I encouraged her to look into that because I'm confident the employer can't do such a thing.

Was this right, to not get suckered in to paying more? Is this being "shrewd as snakes"?

No useless platitude answers please.

I can't get over race as a christian

I grew up in a liberal household in a liberal part of America; I was raised a christian by my parents whom I love.

I don't hate anyone and I certainly don't hate anyone for their race but one thing that angers me deep down is race-mixing. I don't necessarily see miscegenation as a bad thing but ever single multi-racial couple at my school is pretty much a black dude with a white girl almost without fail. This wouldn't be bad if the couples were a bit more "diverse" but no, deep down I probably hate these people but I want to love them just as God loves me.

Anyone have any advise on how I can deal with this?

Rules concerning heretics?

It's good that we have a board where Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants can have open discussions without getting banned by the mods because they belong to a different denomination or church. But we got to have some limits here, right? We cannot be like /christian/ where one denomination controls everything, but we cannot be like /christ/ where Gnositcs, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Messianic Jews, Unitarians, and whole host of other heresies that are just too far out there. Are these groups being regulated? Should we have a rule that only Trinitarian Christians (Christians who subscribe the the Nicene definition whether they acknowledge it or not) are the only ones allowed on here? We should at least have some common confession of faith on here that should involve the Trinity, which is the central doctrine of Christianity.

San Diego Synagogue Shooting

Shooting suspect John Earnest

1 Jew dead

Alleged manifesto: https://pastebin.com/VXXFQMTW

Here's what he had to say to us:

<“How can you call yourself a Christian and do this? Surely the Bible calls for you to love your enemies?” Firstly, just because someone calls themselves a Christian does not make them one. Plenty of people wrongfully identify with being Christian. Beyond the scope of time the Father and the Son made a covenant in eternity—that the Son would bring a people to Him that He may be glorified through them. I did not choose to be a Christian. The Father chose me. The Son saved me. And the Spirit keeps me. Why me? I do not know. And my answer to loving my enemies? Trust yids and their puppet braindead lemming normalfags to take one quote from the Bible and grossly twist its meaning to serve their own evil purposes—meanwhile ignoring the encompassing history and context of the entire Bible and the wisdom it takes to apply God’s law in a broken world. Is it lawful to let a thief murder my friend instead of killing the thief to prevent the death of my friend? To ask such a question is to answer it. It is not loving towards your friend to let him be murdered. It is not loving towards your enemy—the thief—to let him murder. A child can understand the concept of self-defense. It is unlawful and cowardly to stand on the sidelines as the European people are genocided around you. I did not want to have to kill Jews. But they have given us no other option. I’m just a normal dude who wanted to have a family, help and heal people, and play piano. But the Jew—with his genocidal instincts—is insistent on poking the bear until it tears his head off. The Jew has forced our hand, and our response is completely justified. My God does not take kindly to the destruction of His creation. Especially one of the most beautiful, intelligent, and innovative races that He has created. Least of all at the hands of one of the most ugly, sinful, deceitful, cursed, and corrupt. My God understands why I did what I did.

Is he right or wrong? Why?

Counter to the Papacy

This is a response to pic related that gets posted often.

Simon really did have a name change to "Cephas", which translated is "Peter" between Aramaic and Greek. It means rock, and this was intentional symbolism related to the event of Matthew 16. There truly is a pun involved with "you are Peter (Petros, a rock) , and upon this rock (petra, large rock, bedrock) I will build my church" Matt 16:18.

The Catholic uses this passage to claim that Peter had exclusive authority over all church leadership matters, and that they're the only inheritors of such authority.

The "keys to the kingdom" allegedly give

>authority to govern the house of God, which is the Church

The power to "bind and loose" gives

>authority to absolve sins

>to pronounce doctrinal judgements

>to make disciplinary decisions in the Church

Catholic catechism, 553

Couple this with a series of strawmen about protestantism, and you have quite a narrative:

>protestants are subjectivist

>protestants reject church governance

>protestants reject that Christ established visible churches

All of which are explicitly rejected by every reformer, and in every generation for the last 502 years.

In reality, Christ's charge to Peter, as with every spiritual teaching, is broadly applicable to all Christians. Peter was told that the church will be built (upon his confession), and Peter was told "feed my sheep" thrice (John 21), but this responsibility didn't end with Peter. If it did, how could it be related to his role as bishop of Rome since he had not been there yet (if ever)? Peter was not a bishop at the time of John 21. Peter's immediate role was as a missionary to the circumcised after Christ's ascension. "Sheep" in the NT always refers to the disciples or believers in the church, and the shepherd is either Christ or a pastor. How then can we call Peter the chief of earthly shepherds based on John 21 when he's not even recognized as a shepherd there? "Feed MY sheep" says Jesus.

Look at Peter's own words in reference to the job of a shepherd:

>1 I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed,

>2 shepherd the flock of God among you, (1 Pet. 5:1-2 NAS)

"Fellow elder" sympresbyteros, same presbyter

This catholic says "to whom did Paul go? To Peter" in Galatians 1 as an argument that Peter was chief. The book of Galatians, the angry epistle, teaches the exact opposite. Read Galatians chapter 2. Years later, Paul goes to elders in Jerusalem to have them confirm his gospel message, "for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain" (v.2). If Peter was the chief authority, why didn't he already know? Why did he go to these elders and not to Peter? Not only was Peter not the chief elder, he was in public error. Peter was preaching a false gospel of the judaizers, the same issue the churches in Galatia are facing, and the scripture records Paul's open rebuke of Peter.

Peter had no special authority over any other elder. The office of the Bishop of Rome in turn has never had special authority. I am totally uninterested in the claims they make to consolidate authority for themselves in the face of scripture, in the face of countless scandals, and worst of all in abandonment of the gospel. The Bible was carefully collected and canonized under the inspiration of the Spirit, due to wonderful saints who feared God, and in spite of Romanist power-grabs. Look no further than the suppression of Bible translation in the reformation era to see this is true.

What I'm asking for is a little critical thinking beyond blind trust in an institution because it's old. Too many catholic arguments are summed up in erroneous waves of the hand that essentially amount to the Christian equivalent of "who will support the elderly if the government doesn't?", and just like our confiscatory tax system you're losing something valuable when you buy into the catholic system: your agency.

Any hesitation in going to church is spiritual warfare from the devil himself. If you are apprehensive about going, introverted, lonely, you need to NUT UP.

Church is exactly the place you need to be if you have problems. There is a congregation of people meeting every Sunday who want nothing more of you than to love you unconditionally.

Here is everything you need to know:

>Worship service

Looks something like this: Singing, prayer, reading, offering, sermon, benediction.

Pick a seat anywhere. People will want to say hi and shake your hand.

Stand up and sit down when everyone else does.

Nobody is listening to your singing voice, don't worry about it. Sit out a verse if you don't know the song, try to learn the melody for the next one.

They don't want your money in the offering if you're new.

>Sunday school

Just a bible study in smaller groups, maybe organized by age group. This is the best way to meet people.

Show up during the sunday school hour and say "I'm looking for sunday school".

If there's no greeter, just Chad walk up to the room where you hear voices and ask "Is this sunday school?"

>Lord's supper (eucharist)

Don't take it if you're not already Christian.

Nobody will judge you for sitting out, they won't even notice anyway. It's not about you, it's about God.

<But I don't have good enough clothes

<But I'll embarrass myself

<But I have a sinful past

<But I can't kick the sin I'm stuck in

<But I know some of the people at that church, it will be awkward

Shut the hell up, stop being a faggot

Look at yourself in the mirror and say "get behind me satan"

God, the creator of the universe, wants you to follow Him, to understand his word, and to do His work. You can't do it alone, he designed you to be in a church.

I am praying for you.

Modern prophets

Everywhere I go, people are claiming to have particular messages from God regarding their lives beyond scriptures. I just let a church that over-spiritualized everything. Nigh every church I'm investigating in my area has a section like this:

>In 2008 God made it clear that _(pastor) was no longer in control of his life and that his life was to be fully available to Him. God’s word that was spoken to _ was that “You did it your way, now it’s time to do it my Way.” That night while crying in his garage, ____ fully surrendered his will to God’s will and now strives to only do as He sees what His father is doing. His life testimony is one of many miracles that many, including God can testify to.

I really want to affirm the sentiment. It would be greatly encouraging, but I can't intellectually get on board. I believe in a closed canon. Continuous revelation is charismatic and against the doctrine of the sufficiency of scripture.

My systematic professor told our class that a claim of revelation amounts to claim of being a prophet, and everyone claiming should be held to the tests of a prophet in the OT, which nobody would pass.

Another way I could assent to such language is to read it as metaphorical, and sometimes it is, but they almost always mean in a very literal way "God told me x,y,z".

Anyone else witness this?

Am I wrong?

Benefits of the Counter-Reformation

Catholics should at least acknowledge that the Reformation forced them to clean house. I'd like to hear /christianity/'s thoughts on how the Catholic church improved (or worsened) as a result of the Reformation. I found this list online and added a few:

1. Greater clarity with regards to doctrine – an unequivocal set of rules.

2. The superstitions of the Medieval Church were under control.

3. New orders were established and went into the community to do “good work” and to help the sick and poor. A spiritual commitment applied to all tasks, which was a good example to lay people.

4. Greater importance put on communion, which enabled the faith to be cultivated and spread.

5. Popes were more open to constructive change and recognized the corruption of the old church. More churches were built.

6. The power of the popes was unquestioned after Trent – this was good if they were pro-reform.

7. The Counter-Reformation proved to the outside world that the Catholic Church had recognized its past failings and was willing to reform itself rather than blind itself to its faults.

8. Ideas of the new Catholic Church spread by groups like the Jesuits.

9. Good support (in general) by Catholic lay rulers after 1555. The Council of Trent was accepted everywhere and though Philip II controlled the Catholic Church in Spain he was an ardent Catholic.

10. The power of Spain in the C16 meant that the Catholic Church had very strong backing.

11. Translation of the Bible into English.

United Methodist Church May Be Moving Up From Sodomite Tier

>A ruling by the United Methodist Church's highest court has upheld the denomination's support of traditional marriage and its opposition to LGBT ordination. The ruling, some evangelical commentators say, could portend a split in the UMC.

>"The United Methodist Church is not going to be able to hold together" as its liberal and conservative elements espouse conflicting views of human sexuality among other matters, R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said today (April 29) in his podcast "The Briefing." "It is not going to be a united Methodist Church. The polarities within the denomination are simply too great."

>In an April 26 ruling, the UMC's Judicial Council upheld 10 of 17 petitions in the Traditional Plan narrowly adopted by delegates to the UMC General Conference in February. The Traditional Plan affirmed the UMC's longstanding declarations that "the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching" and that "self-avowed practicing homosexuals" cannot be ordained to the ministry or married in the UMC.

A message

For those who are losing faith, do not despair.

For he is about to return.

The process is on-going for they are in.

There is no turning back anymore.

Have faith or rather, don't you dare to ever lose it.

For those who do not have it yet, acquire it and believe when I say, you will not acquire faith by reading 100 pages or 1000 pages long book.

Begin by losing.

Without your struggle, this would have never happened.

The least I will say, the less probability to be marked as insane.

Do not despair.

Soldiers of GOD do not need to be reminded of this, but I will say it anyway.

Do not lie.

Find your purpose.

Get ready.

But instead they're all focused on a bunch of dudes with capes and arguing over which one is coolest. What do you guys think of this?

Please quit calling atheists fedoras

Do you like it when someone belittles you? Then why do you do it to others; Jesus says in Matthew 7:12, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets". Attack their arguments don't attack the person, even if they all are literally the stereotypical neckbeard(most of them aren't) just ignore that attribute. Even if they do verbally attack you, reflect the love of Jesus and love them just as you would love your neighbor.

Circumcision isn't Christian or medically safe

San Fransisco Failed, Germany Failed, Iceland Failed, there have been countless attempts to ban infant male circumcision that have failed despite having a majority support in the area? Areas where religious minorities are at an all time low, circumcision rates are essentially non-existent. Yet non-medically justified, routine genital mutilation (religious or not) continues to occur despite the gender counter part being forbidden by law.

What message does it send where males are violated at birth, while females have their bodies protected by law? Iceland hospitals refused to conduct infant circumcision and had signed agreements among the hospitals across the country to refuse such services as medically unjustified. As a result a vote to illegalize the practice was initiated which resulted in international uproar.

It's an extremely simple topic that people have an illogical habit of complicating. The right to inflict bodily injury on another persons body without their consent. Religiously motivated or not. I cant religiously mutilate animals. It's considered animal abuse.

The main contention I have, is to put the practice into perspective to see the true tragedy and the reason why it's not complicated to see why it should be illegal. To turn the infant, into a grown adult, and keep the situation identical.

You are 25 years old. Your parents have decided to take you against your will to the doctors, where people over power you, forcefully strap you onto an operating table, strap your legs and arms down so you can't move, and without anesthesia, take a knife to your genitals, cutting the most private part of your body as you scream in pain. This is something you'd expect in a scene from the Saw movie franchise. Not something we would callously turn a blind eye happening to infants.

So what are you thoughts on why so many countries have failed their own children to protect them from genital mutilation.

Circumcision is culturally based and not medically based. Cutting a penis to reduce the remote chance of penile cancer is like cutting a girl's budding breasts to reduce the chance of breast cancer.

Jesus and Paul were against circumcision for good reason! It's a covenant that was only supposed to only be for Jews!

Happy Easter!

The fact that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day is our only hope. If you are redeemed, you will have a resurrection body. We will be resurrected by the power of Christ.

>12 Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

>13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised;

>14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.

>15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.

>16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised;

>17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.

>18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

>19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.

Does God call his "victims" home to heaven?

Throughout the Old Testament are instances of God killing people and commanding the deaths of people. Even today there is much suffering especially in the poor third world. Are the 21 kids that die from preventable diseases a minute in heaven. Jesus rarely if ever says that people who don't repent will go to hell he far more often says that rich people go to hell because they already received there reward on earth and that heaven belongs to the poor. The only way I can imagine the almighty God allowing this kind of suffering would be if in the end there is a final judgement where those who didn't get there reward here will get it in heaven.

I don't like the severe modern split on spiritual theology

>True traditional Christians believed in ghosts as evidenced by historical records and the language used in the Douay Rheims.

>Modern turboprots believe EVERYTHING paranormal is a demon.

>Weird modernist Christians believe in some kind of reincarnation or joining with the source.

>Most normie Christians see heaven and hell as two permanently immobilizing prisons and don't believe in ghosts.

Like seriously? Why such division? Saul communicated with the dead and tradition should be the default. Instead everyone seems to have their own unique fanfic about reality.

If you are a christian and haven't read the entirety of the new testament at least then you should try and pick it up and read it for yourself. The Perpetual Virginity of Mary

Ockham's razor: simpler solutions are more likely to be correct that complex ones.

To justify Mary's perpetual virginity, the following defenses are laid up:

>The jews in the synagogue who point out Jesus's brothers and sisters are actually referencing the Christian brotherhood (Mark 6:3, Matt 13:55-56)

>Joseph had a novel, unique marriage arrangement where one takes a wife without consummating

>"Until" in Matthew 1:25 (kept her a virgin until she gave birth) is a unique use of the word that doesn't mean it happened afterwards

>Roman catholics received alleged additional special revelation in the form of apparations of Mary that claim it's so, ultimately resulting in the Pope declaring the doctrine infallible in the 19th century (remember: an infallible declaration is one equal to scripture)

The alternative view, held by many Christians of many denominations in every era, is this:

>After the virgin birth, Mary and Joseph had children

Which of these options is more likely to be correct given Ockham's razor?

To really travel down the rabbit hole, investigate this:

What foundational beliefs of Catholics (and others) require them to bend over backwards in this way?

Ezekiel 1:4‭-‬11 KJV

<And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

<Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

<And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

<And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

<And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

<Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

<As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

<Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

Was the book of Ezekiel describing the image of an annunaki god? We can't sit here and pretend like the annunaki thing is a myth.

The tangible world exists, created by God.

God charged mankind with the task of stewarding creation.

Part of God's design for our stewardship involves an affirmation of property ownership.

Transgressing property rights between people is a sin before God (theft).

Intangibles can be similar to tangible property

>hold value

They are not similar in one vital way: you cannot be confiscated of an intangible. If someone hears a sentence I write and repeats it, I still have that sentence in my head and the same ability to repeat it again. What is the relevant ethical difference between this and copying mp3 files from a cd that my friend lends me, or even copying movie files from strangers on the internet?

I see no Biblical reason to change this logic on any scale. Intangible "intellectual property" is not property at all in the sense that it can be stolen, so such copying is not theft.

Operation Gladio: The Unholy Alliance Between The Vatican, The CIA, & The Mafia

On the hot summer morning of Aug. 2, 1980 a massive explosion ripped apart the main waiting room of the Bologna railway station

Eighty-five people were killed and hundreds more injured. Though at first blamed on Italy’s legendary urban guerrillas, The Red Brigades, it soon emerged that the attack had, in fact, originated from within the ‘deep state’ of the Italian government itself.

The full nature of this secret parallel state would only come to light a decade later when the Italian premier, Giulio Andreotti, under questioning from a special commission of inquiry, revealed the existence of arms caches stashed all around the country and which were at the disposal of an organization which later came to be identified as ‘Gladio’.

The members of this group turned out to include not only hundreds of far-right figures in the intelligence, military, government, media, Church and corporate sectors, but a motley assortment of unreconstructed WW2 fascists, psychopaths and criminal underworld types to boot. And despite Andreotti’s attempts to airbrush the group as ‘patriots’ it appeared evident to much of the rest of the Italian polity that these seemed rather more like pretty bad folk indeed. Little did they know. Follow-up research by the likes of Daniele Ganser, Claudio Celani, Jurgen Roth and Henrik Kruger traced connections to similar groups spread throughout Europe of which all were found to be deep state terrorist organizations, and all of which were found, ultimately, to be subservient unto the highest levels of the CIA and NATO command structures.

The moniker ‘Gladio’ (after the two-edged sword used in classical Rome) was eventually broadened to include a bewildering host of related deep state terrorist structures including: ‘P2’ In Italy, ‘P26’ in Switzerland, ‘Sveaborg’ in Sweden, ‘Counter-Guerrilla’ in Turkey and ‘Sheepskin’ in Greece. This (hardly definitive) European list was then found to have connections not only to virtually every US sponsored secret state terrorist organization the world over (including the likes of Operation Condor in Latin America), but also to many of the global drug cartels that provided the secretive wealth needed to fund and otherwise lubricate the whole rotting, corrupt shebang.

If all this sounds sinister enough, it pales in light of the detailed structure of the dazzlingly diabolical Gladio edifice. And it is to those details we now repair vis a vis an overview of the remarkable, if otherwise unheralded, 2015 work by journalist Paul L. Williams entitled, ‘Operation Gladio: The Unholy Alliance Between the Vatican, the CIA and the Mafia’. Though there are other books on the subject worthy of honourable mention (including Daniele Ganser’s seminal tome, ‘NATO’s Secret Armies’, and Richard Cottrell’s recent and stylishly written, ‘Gladio: NATO’s Dagger at the Heart of Europe’), it is to Williams that I believe we owe a particular debt of gratitude in having provided a more or less fully integrated portrait of the global machinations of Operation Gladio.

Before embarking on our grim, if yet fascinating, journey it is worth first noting that whilst ‘Gladio’ was officially acknowledged and condemned by the European Parliament (in Nov., 1990; Washington and NATO having ever after refused ‘comment’ on the matter), and its multifarious organs and factions ordered dismantled, it is hardly likely that the latter was ever fully enacted. The historical context of ‘Gladio’, then, is really the quintessential backdrop to understanding the trademark false flag events of the modern era.

The god of money

For the longest time even to this day all currency in the United States has printed on it "In god we trust" many point to this as supposed evidence that the United States is a christian nation. The establishment clause of the first amendment in the United States Constitution forbids any superior treatment of any establishment of religion so by definition this god printed on the money cannot be the God of the bible. The bible says the love of money is the root of all evil(1 timothy 6:10) and the bible makes it very clear that covetousness is idolatry.

Who is the most popular god in the world; worshiped by nearly 6 billion? Money! Who really owns this world Satan! As Christians we must distinguish ourselves from the pagans and idolaters around us. The Israelites did so through laws that we might consider barbaric and arbitrary today but God(The one true god) doesen't change and he still calls Israel(The church(us)) to distinguish ourselves from the heathens of the world albeit in a different way.

baptism as an adult

I was baptized at a young age. Maybe 5 or 6 years old. I am 33 now. My early aged baptizing was more like a "come on kids, you are gonna get baptized this Sunday whether you like it or not" sort of thing by my stepdad at the time (who was a preacher), more than it was a personal commitment of my own. But throughout the years of my early teenage-hood I did ask Christ into my heart. Maybe at 15 or 16? And when I asked, there was this supernatural warmth that came over me. I felt joy within me. It sounds cliche but it actually happened. I stole one of my stepdad's many bibles that he owned and read it almost daily.

Of course with commitment to Christ, you do have opposition. Things like porn and masturbation. Heavy video game playing. Cussing, and all the other worldly lusts of the flesh. Thankfully I am still a virgin. But I do wrestle with the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes even into today. The whole reason for this thread was to post this question: am I supposed to get re-baptized? Especially as a form of personal re-commitment in my adult age? Someone told me years ago that getting re-baptized would be like re-crucifying Christ. What does /christianity/ think about this?

>Therefore be on your guard against the Jews and know that where they have their schools there is nothing but the Devil's nest in which self-praise, vanity, lies, blasphemy, disgracing God and man, are practiced in the bitterest and most poisonous way as the Devils do themselves. Wherever you see or hear a Jew teaching, do not think otherwise than that you are hearing a poisonous Basiliskus who with his face poisons and kills people. (Medieval legend.) Through God's wrath they have been delivered to believe that all of their boasting, vanity, lying to God, cursing all men, are right and a great service to God, something well becoming to such noble blood of the fathers and circumcised saints (no matter how mean they otherwise might know themselves to be in gross vices) which service they think they have rendered hereby.

>Look out for them!

>They brag and boast that they have had the land of Canaan, the city of Jerusalem and the temple from God. Although God has overthrown such boasting and vanity many times, especially through the king of Babylon who led them away and destroyed everything, like the King of Assyria had before led away and destroyed the entire Israel. Finally they were rooted up and devastated by the Romans, now almost 1400 years ago, that they might comprehend how God did not consider, nor will He regard country, city, temple, priesthood and principality, that He should consider them His own chosen people on that account; yet their iron neck (as Isaiah calls it) is not bowed, nor has their iron forehead become red with shame.

>They constantly remain stiff-necked, blinded, hardened, and immovable. Still hope that God will bring them home again and give everything back to them.

Is Luther right, that God ordained the destruction of Jerusalem and the diaspora of the Jews so that they would understand they don't have special status before Him?

RC Sproul Calvin apologist is Nestorian

((Some say, “It was the second person of the Trinity Who died.” That would be a mutation within the very being of God)), because when we look at the Trinity we say that the three are one in essence, and that though there are personal distinctions among the persons of the Godhead, those distinctions are not essential in the sense that they are differences in being. Death is something that would involve a change in one’s being.

We (should shrink in horror from the idea that God actually died on the cross. The atonement was made by the human nature of Christ). Somehow people tend to think that this lessens the dignity or the value of the substitutionary act, as if we were somehow implicitly denying the deity of Christ. God forbid. It’s the God-man Who dies, but death is something that is experienced only by the human nature, because the divine nature isn’t capable of experiencing death.

Does 1Peter 3:21 mean Baptism is merely a symbol or public profession of faith?

Let’s find out, starting with its Greek.

Although the verb ἐπερωτάω is common enough in the New Testament and wider literature, the passive cognate noun ἐπερώτημα is very rare. However based on early papyri that we got(i.e such as in P.Oxy. 9.1200, the registration of a deed dated to 266 CE,and in P.Oxy. 9.1208, the public acknowledgement of a contract of sale in 291 CE) it carries the sense of a contract or covenant, perhaps also equivalent to the Latin applicatio ad patronum, whereby one entered into a client–patron relationship.

Also at issue is how one should take the genitive συνειδήσεως.If objective, then it would refer to the pledge of a Christian to maintain a good conscience, but if subjective, it would be the good conscience from which a Christian makes a commitment to God in baptism. The present consensus seems to be in favor of an objective genitive, with the ἐπερώτημα understood as consisting of the commitment or ‘pledge’ made at baptism to preserve a good conscience, that is, mindfulness of God or proper conduct, in one’s subsequent life.

For instance see:

Achtemeier, 1 Peter,pp.271–72; Elliott, 1 Peter,p.681. Also taking it as an objective genitive, referring to the baptizand’s pledge to maintain a good conscience, are Reicke, Disobedient Spirits,p .185; J. N. D. Kelly, A Commentary on the Epistles of Peter and of Jude (BNTC; London: Black, 1969), p. 162; Roger Omanson, ‘Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake (1 Pet 3:13–4:11)’, RevExp 79 (1982), p. 444; Leonhard Goppelt, A Commentary on 1 Peter, trans. John E. Alsup (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 1993), p. 258; R. T. France, ‘Exegesis in Practice: Two Samples’, in I. H. Marshall (ed.), New Testament Interpretation: Essays on Principles and Methods (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 1977), p. 275. However, Michaels, 1 Peter,p.216, holds out for a subjective genitive.

On this reading the συνείδησις ἀγαθή refers to the content of the ‘pledge’ undertaken at baptism. Hence, the view of baptism as a formal and public contract with subsequent binding force on the parties involved

So wait a minute here, Baptism is like signing a deal to enter into a relationship with God? Isnt that different from views that see baptism as something done after this relationship is entered into?

Galatians contradicts OSAS: FIND OUT WHY NOW

What is Once Saved Always Saved?

Once Saved Always Saved, or OSAS is the view of some Protestants, usually Baptists, that once someone confesses Christ as Lord and Saviour, there is nothing that person can do to lose his salvation. In fact as the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist pastor Steven Anderson states in his sermon on OSAS, even if you try to sin and disbelieve, you are still saved. This possibility is also acknowledged in his sermon “Shall we continue in Sin” where he states that:

“Now here’s the thing, If I don’t talk to my wife and my wife doesn’t talk to me we are not going to have a good relationship. But are we still married? Yes we are, see what I mean? So if I don’t talk to God through prayer and He doesn’t talk to me through his work, we’re not going to have a good relationship (though I’m still saved).”

Notice that if one doesnt pray to God after one is saved, then he is still considered saved, although he wont have a “good relationship” with God. It means clearly this person isnt going to suffer Hell for this and other intentionally sinful actions.

Of course unfortunately for OSAS believers, Scripture proves them wrong and here we will look at Paul’s Epistle to the Galatians to see why such is the case.

True biblical repentance:ACTS 2 and 3 against Baptists

In Acts 2:38 and 3:19, Peter preaches repentance like the OT prophets calling Israel to return (see 3:19; cf. 5:31; 8:22). In the immediate context, the people of Israel must repent for their corporate responsibility for Jesus’s death (2:23); but in its fuller Lukan context, the summons to repentance is appropriate for all humanity (e.g., 17:30; 20:21; 26:20), though, in that moment, Peter and his companions do not yet recognise this point (11:18). The biblical prophets summoned Israel to “turn” or “return” to the Lord (e.g., Isa 55:7; Jer 3:12, 14, 22; 4:1; 25:5; 26:3; Ezek 14:6; 18:21, 23, 30; Hos 14:1; Joel 2:12–13; Mal 3:7), which could even be summarized as their message (Zech 1:3–4).1204 Individuals also needed to turn from wickedness to righteousness (Ezek 33:14–16, 19), that is, change their lifestyle, not merely indulge in guilty feelings. Luke 3:11; 18:22 both show this by radical sacrifice of possessions for the sake of others which forms part of the answer of how to be Saved which is also the context of repentance in Acts(2:44-45)

Occasionally the Septuagint uses μετανοέω to express turning to the Lord ( Jer 8:6; 38:19 lxx [31:19 ET]; Joel 2:13; Isa 46:8),though it uses ἀποστρέφω (cf. Acts 3:26) far more frequently. The noun μετάνοια appears even more rarely (five times, all but one in the Apocrypha), though it seems to have more of a consistent association with turning from sin, particularly in later sources(i.e Sir 44:16; Wis 11:23; 12:10, 19). Apparently, however, usage had shifted by the first century; ἀποστρέφω appears just nine times in the NT(only twice in Luke-Acts) whereas μετάνοια and μετανοέω together appear fifty-two times, with a fairly consistent range of usage, including in Luke-Acts. Notice how this opposes the Baptist view of repentance which is simply changing ones mind and not turning away from sin. Sorry Baptists. It is and it requires more than just a mere confession of Christ as Lord and Saviour and includes the act of turning away from sin and sacrifices.

The Idolatry of Polycarp?

Chapter XVII.—The Christians are refused Polycarp’s body.

But when the adversary of the race of the righteous, the envious, malicious, and wicked one, perceived the impressive463 nature of his martyrdom, and [considered] the blameless life he had led from the beginning, and how he was now crowned with the wreath of immortality, having beyond dispute received his reward, he did his utmost that not the least memorial of him should be taken away by us, although many desired to do this, and to become possessors464 of his holy flesh. For this end he suggested it to Nicetes, the father of Herod and brother of Alce, to go and entreat the governor not to give up his body to be buried, “lest,” said he, “forsaking Him 43that was crucified, they begin to worship this one.” This he said at the suggestion and urgent persuasion of the Jews, who also watched us, as we sought to take him out of the fire, being ignorant of this, that it is neither possible for us ever to forsake Christ, who suffered for the salvation of such as shall be saved throughout the whole world (the blameless one for sinners465), nor to worship any other. For Him indeed, as being the Son of God, we adore; but the martyrs, as disciples and followers of the Lord, we worthily love on account of their extraordinary466affection towards their own King and Master, of whom may we also be made companions467 and fellow-disciples!

Judgement according to works destroys bonus dlc rewards view

Matthew's Gospel is full of examples where we can see that reward for deeds, and

judgment according to works are very much in evidence. For example: `I tell you the

truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ

will certainly not lose his reward' is very typical of the kind of sayings that are included

in Matthew's portrait of Jesus (e. g. Mk 9.41/Mt 10.42). But there is also a very clear

affirmation of the soteriological dimension of reward:

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny

himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will

lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if

he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange

for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his

angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. (Mt

In the quotation from Psalm 62.12 in Matt. 16.27 here, the reward is soteriological, just

as it is when the Psalm is quoted again in Romans 2.6. The saying here in Matt 16

follows straight on from Jesus' description of those wishing to save their lives, losing

them, and vice versa. The reward cannot be for individual deeds within the future

Kingdom. In Matt 25.31-46, deeds of hospitality or justice are certainly the criterion for

judgment, however much disagreement there may be on the other details of the

parable. On the other hand, election and grace are prominent in Matthew's Gospel:

salvation is a matter of revelation purely by divine initiative (11.25-27) and is impossible

for people without divine activity (19.25-26). `At the same time, Matthew still believed

that salvation was God's gift'.

March 29th Orthodox Saint of the Day

Our Righteous Father Mark the Confessor, Bishop of Arethusa; Cyril the Deacon, and others martyred during the reign of Julian

"Saint Mark was Bishop of Arethusa in Syria. In the days of Saint Constantine the Great, Saint Mark, moved with divine zeal, destroyed a temple of the idols and raised up a church in its stead. When Julian the Apostate reigned, in 361, as the pagans were now able to avenge the destruction of their temple, Saint Mark, giving way to wrath, hid himself; but when he saw that others were being taken on his account, he gave himself up. Having no regard to his old age, they stripped him and beat his whole body, cast him into filthy sewers, and pulling him out, had children prick him with their iron writing-pens. Then they put him into a basket, smeared him with honey and a kind of relish of pickled fish, and hung him up under the burning sun to be devoured by bees and wasps. But because he bore this so nobly, his enemies repented, and unloosed him.

"Saint Cyril was a deacon from Heliopolis in Phoenecia. During the reign of the Emperor Constantius, son of Saint Constantine, he had also broken the idols in pieces. When Julian came to power, Saint Cyril was seized by the idolators and his belly was ripped open. The other holy Martyrs celebrated today, martyred in Gaza and Ascalon during the reign of Julian, were men of priestly rank and consecrated virgins; they were disemboweled, filled with barley, and set before swine to be eaten. The account of all the above Saints is given in Book III, ch. 3, of Theodoret of Cyrrhus' Ecclesiastical History. (Great Horologion)

March 30th saint of the day: St. Sophronius the Bishop of Irkutsk

Saint Sophronius, Bishop of Irkutsk and Wonderworker of all Siberia, whose family name was Kristalevsky, was born in Malorussia in the Chernigov region in 1704. His father, Nazarius, was “a common man in his affairs,” and the saint was named Stephen, in honor of the protomartyr Saint Stephen. He had two brothers and a sister, Pelagia. The name of one brother was Paul. The name of the other older brother is unknown, but it is said that he was head of the Krasnogorsk Zolotonosh monastery.

Stephen’s childhood years were spent in the settlement of Berezan in the Pereyaslavl district of the Poltava governance, where the family settled after the father was discharged from service. When he came of age, Stephen entered the Kiev Theological Academy, where two other future hierarchs were studying: Joasaph, future Bishop of Belgorod (September 4 and December 10), and Paul, future Metropolitan of Tobolsk (June 10 and November 4).

After completing his religious education, Stephen entered the Krasnogorsk Transfiguration monastery [later renamed the Protection monastery. In 1789, it was transformed into a women’s monastery], where his elder brother already labored in asceticism. On April 23, 1730 he received monastic tonsure with the name of Sophronius, in honor of Saint Sophronius of Jerusalem (March 11).

On the night after his monastic tonsure, Saint Sophronius heard a Voice in the Protection church predicting his future service: “When you become bishop, build a church dedicated to All Saints.”

In 1732, he was summoned to Kiev. There he was ordained hierodeacon, and then hieromonk in the cathedral of Holy Wisdom. After Saint Sophronius had been a monk for two years, he became treasurer of the Zolotonosh monastery for two years, and then His Grace Bishop Arsenius (Berlov) of the Pereyaslavl diocese sent him into the house of his archbishop, where he was steward for eight years.

These facts testify to the connections of the saint with his original Protection monastery. During his obedience under the presiding hierarch at Pereyaslavl, he often visited his monastery, spending the day in quiet contemplation and work, serving as an example to the brethren.

When Hieromonk Sophronius traveled to the Holy Synod on behalf of his bishop, they paid close attention to him. In January 1742, the future saint was transferred to the Saint Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Saint Peterburg, the foremost monastery of the capital. A year later he was appointed treasurer of the monastery, and in 1746 he was appointed as Superior of the monastery.

He summoned his fellow countryman, the hieromonk Sinesios (Ivanoff), a native of the city of Priluki, and made him igumen of the Saint Sergius Hermitage, a dependancy of Saint Alexander Nevsky Lavra. From this time the friendship of the two ascetics, hieromonk Sophronius and hieromonk Sinesios, was strengthened by their joint pastoral effort, and they were inseparable until they died in Siberia.

During these years Saint Sophronius worked hard at managing the monastery and improvement of teaching at the seminary located nearby. He and Archbishop Theodosius made it their task to acquire more books for the monastic library.

Saint Sophronius built a two storey church: the upper church was dedicated to Saint Theodore, the older brother of Saint Alexander Nevsky; and the lower to Saint John Chrysostom.

Bishop Innocent II (Nerunovich) of Irkutsk died in 1747. For six years afterwards, the Irkutsk diocese remained without a spiritual head.

What does /christianity/ think of this?

Humans are ground spirits.

“By the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread, Until you return to the ground, from which you were taken; For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Genesis 3:19

“God then said: What have you done? Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground!”

Genesis 4:10

>Cain and his descendants’ spirits are apparently barred from the ground where it came.

“Now you are banned from the ground that opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.”

Genesis 4:11

>Satan and Cain both wander the Earth.

“If you till the ground, it shall no longer give you its produce. You shall become a constant wanderer on the earth.”

Genesis 4:12

“The LORD said to the satan, “Where have you been?” Then the satan answered the LORD and said, “Roaming the earth and patrolling it.””

Job 1:7

>Satan is also cursed to eat dust. Possibly same connotation as patrolling but not sure.

“Then the LORD God said to the snake: Because you have done this, cursed are you among all the animals, tame or wild; On your belly you shall crawl, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.”

Genesis 3:14

Just thought it was interesting. I read late Augustine believed human spirits have a pre-conception origin and saw Fr. Ripperger say dust is a symbol for man.

>Satan is referred to as prince of the air as opposed to human ground spirits.

“in which you once lived following the age of this world, following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the disobedient.”

Ephesians 2:2

>The symbol for the air is the Illuminati pyramid and its inverse the symbol for ground.

What would you do? The only thing I could think of doing is having to spend the rest of eternity in hell just so they could go to heaven.

As I understand it, the "birth control" pill firstly stops conception, but in the event of conception it's an abortifacient and so causes an abortion. This is obviously evil.

I told my fiance about this and so we'll need to plan to NOT use the pill, and she told me about this nuva ring. It releases hormones to prevent eggs from developing, so conception never happens. What do you think?

I'm skeptical of messing with hormones, but that's beside the moral component.

What do you think? I'm not of the opinion that contraception is wrong, but I'm happy to hear if you have a compelling argument.

Being an atheist in your heart

Psalm 14:1 says The fool says in his heart, "There is no God."; this sounds less like something from the bible and more like something an apologist might say to an atheist and I'm sure apologists have used this particular verse. During bible times there weren't really any atheists because at the time the only explanation to how the world could be so complex and "masterfully designed" is a god or gods, so did God in his divine foresight saw fight to include this verse for all the Christians in the future to use to stump supposed stupid atheists in their tracks? The truth is that the often overlooked part is "in his heart", what does this mean?

Heart is often used in a more poetic context throughout the bible for instance Pharaohs heart was hardened and where treasure is so to is your heart(I'm honestly not aware if the bible even ever says "heart" in the context of an anatomical heart). We can conclude that heart could mean soul or character or whatever makes you, you; I don't think Psalm 14:1 is talking about atheists who proudly proclaim that there is no god but rather about lukewarm compromises who might say they believe in God with their mouths but with their heart they are wicked, lawless heathens who might as well not believe there is a God because they live their daily lives as if there is not God.

Us Christians are exactly the same as the people at the time of the flood or the people in Sodom and Gomorrah, we say that there is a God but live secular lives trying to make tons of money and not listening to what Jesus said. We hate our enemies and love our friends, we make sure our families are happy and well-fed while ignoring our family members half-way across the globe who are starving and poor. We curse God for calling 20 poor and starving kids home to heaven a minute sitting on our earthly treasures and wondering why he could allow such suffering. Our treasures will consume our flesh and the rust and moths will testify against us on judgment day. We call Jesus Lord, Lord every Sunday just like the people at the flood and in Sodom and Gomorrah. Our hearts need to quit being atheist.

UMC Vote

United Methodist Church defies mainline Protestant history by saying no to the sexual revolution

Albert Mohler predicts a schism based on comparison to our own conservative-liberal struggle as Southern Baptists

>Going back to the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, there was a similar dynamic within the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation's largest Protestant denomination. Conservatives won during those decades and the more liberal factions, churches, and even associations of churches eventually severed their relationship with the Southern Baptist Convention. We are likely to see something very similar now in the United Methodist Church, but it's easier for churches to leave a Baptist Convention because we believe in local church autonomy. Local churches, they define their own ministry, they own their own property.

>The Southern Baptist Convention for example, was never numbered among those mainline Protestant denominations, but the United Methodist Church was. The question is for how long now will that be true? That liberal Protestant world is enthusiastically devoted to the sexual revolution in its fullness. The United Methodist Church, by the vote that took place yesterday, is not going in that direction. Thus, it is unlikely that the denomination as a whole will continue to be a part of mainline Protestantism. The church is certainly likely to split with liberals identifying with mainline Protestantism and with conservatives increasingly identifying with historic Christian orthodoxy.

I don't see why the conservative wing of the UMC wouldn't just begin associating with the already established conservative wesleyan denominations. What's going to happen?

The hate against Israel is misguided because Israel is only just a state and not the one true Israel of God, the church is Israel but the earthly chunk of land formerly known as Palestine is just as evil as every other country ever, it is filled with people who claim to worship God but live their lives as if there is no God. Is God telling me something important?

I believe God wants me to do something important. Firstly I battled a demon in my body, where I was coughing and spazing about before I felt clam and oneness with the Lord, and soon after that I was taking the rubbish out, thankful to the Lord, and I believe God was communicating with me through the rain, pushing it into the dry spot I was in as if he was commanding me to move. Then as I was just about heading inside after thanking the Lord, the rain just immediately stopped for a bit, before coming back.

Now as I am full of love for Christ, when I am deep in thought of God I feel this feeling somewhere in my body, I think it's my soul. It gives me a feeling of completeness and oneness. I think this is the Holy Spirit within me. And today as I was sitting on a bench at the park near my bus stop, suddenly I saw a flash of white and gold. No one else seemed to have seen the flash, only me. And it couldn't have been lighting for it was a sunny day. What is happening?

I have a theory that the intellectually lazy are drawn to catholicism for it's explanatory power. When encountered by a challenging argument straight from the Bible, if you have a doctrine of apostolic succession that involves exclusive teaching power you can just wave your hand away with some authority that said otherwise.

Your theological arguments then just become rote regurgitation of the same tired quips

>Peter had the keys to the kingdom

>Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus

Searching for the true denomination

I grew up in a protest church. Presbyterian USA to be specific. It was a very lukewarm environment, and is becoming increasingly liberal and about good feelings. Many of them claim scripture is misinterpreted, yet I increasingly get the feeling they are interpreting scripture in a way that makes them comfortable. It gives the impression to one who has only ever gone their that conservatives are twisting scripture to their own ends.

I've always been interested in theology and philosophy, yet I never felt they went into theology or anything of the sort very much.

I remember my older sibling had to occasionally go to meetings to prepare for becoming an official member of the church, yet perhaps because how few youth went that was never a thing when I was their age.

Many people have since left that church for another. If one family that left had not invited me to a Christian youth group, I would have remained a lukewarm Christian.

Really, they never explained Church doctrine or the differences between denominations. It was never explained why there was a protestant reformation, I never even heard of the Orthodox Church or the belief in the Real Presence within Communion until I went on this site.

So eventually I started to wonder about what Church was the closest to the truth. What Church had the most accurate Biblical translation? At first I looked at the Catholic Church; they claim apostolic succession, and they have a set way of understanding scripture. Is Catholic the true church then?

Yet there is so much going on in the Catholic Church, like nobody can agree about the Pope, and the scandals about the Bishops, and in the past there were indulgences and Popes involved in politics and other possible corruption. So was Luther right? Did the Lutheran Church remove what the Catholics added on but stck to the true teachings? But then why were books of the Bible removed? And why did so many other denominations break off?

Or if it's not the Protestants and not the Catholic, was the Orthodox Church right in breaking off earlier? Are they the true Church? To be honest, I don't even know the reason for the schism or what the differences between the Catholic and Orthodox are. I don't understand the icons, or the worship of Mary, or many apostolic practices. I don't know if they are wrong or not, because they were never even discussed at my church. And so many Churches accuse the leaders of others of being false prophets or even antichrists.

I want to find the correct church, but I know it isn't a decision to be made lightly. I'm terrified of picking the wrong one and I have no understanding of how to even tell.

Pic is just a random Church btw, don't even know what denomination

Is a White Ethnostate antithetical to Christianity?

I've been Christian for a long time, but only recently have begun to feel pride in my white identity and see the merit of a white ethnostate. But whenever I think about this, it feels like it's displeasing to Christ. I've been rereading the Old Testament lately, where God says to welcome the stranger. And there's Galatians 3:28.

I live in an extremely liberal area, so the Christians here are especially communistic and use Christ's teachings to condone their open welcome to immigrants and refugees, and I'm having trouble not seeing the Bible through this lens.

Is it wrong for a Christian to support an ethnostate? Does Christ want us to dissolve all our boundaries, whether cultural or geographical, and be "one" in that sense? Any scriptures or suggestions for books or podcasts that talk about White Identitarianism specifically in the context of Christianity would be helpful. Thanks

No miracle can make anyone have faith.

There are many miracles in the bible but no miracle made anyone have faith; when the Israelites were about to enter the promised land they didn't have enough faith even though they should have been the ones who KNEW God was on their side, they witnessed the parting of the red sea, God provided mana for them yet they didn't the believe God was capable of protecting them so every single one of them died not making it to the promised land.

Miracles can deceive as well; a group of Christians called Pentecostals allegedly performed miracles causing many to be deceived. Scientists are able to perform many miracles by feeding the hungry and healing the sick so people put their faith in science rather than God. Even false prophets can perform miracles, Jesus said that the ones who cry out "Lord, Lord" will be casting out demons and performing great signs.

We cry out "Lord, Lord" yet we do not follow the teachings of Jesus, we don't trust that God will protect us, we trust society and the military and police to protect us and for that we will all die and never make it to the new promised land.

Soul Winning

Give me your input.

My pastor has told me NOT to knock on doors to win souls. I'm the outreach leader. He says it is hurtful to our image because every neighborhood here forbids soliciting (he knows it's still legal). 10 years ago when he moved in as pastor our church had a negative association, and the very fact that we used to knock on doors was allegedly one of the motivators.

His idea of evangelism is entirely relational. He'd like us to be friendly neighbors, work the gospel into conversations, but basically stop there. He's also said that smiling can be sharing the gospel (it can't).

I strongly disagree with his directions. I don't intend to go against his wishes representing the church. Can I stay at this church? My worry is that I'm going to have to conclude that this church is not acceptable because it doesn't do evangelism, despite my pleadings otherwise.

Is this an issue to break fellowship over?

Man’s Need for Salvation

If you died today, and upon meeting God, He asked you why you should be admitted into heaven, what would you say? Let us explore the Bible’s answer to that question.

In the beginning, man was good.

Man was created by God in His own image as the crowning work of His creation. In the beginning, man was good and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice, man sinned against God. Every person afterward inherited a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. As soon as they are capable of moral action, they, too, become sinners and are condemned. The Bible says:

<“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Salvation – How God deals with sin

Salvation is God’s way of forgiving sin and providing a means for man to receive eternal life now and in heaven. Salvation, by definition, means to be delivered from evil. In this sense, salvation is deliverance from sin and its penalty. On the cross, Jesus Christ made the once-for-all sacrifice for man’s sin and its penalty, which is death. The Bible says, “Not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption” (Heb. 9:12).

This salvation was and is offered to everyone on God’s own initiative, as an expression of His love for sinners. His offer of eternal life is not a life that only begins after death. It is that quality of life that is eternal, beginning at the moment one believes in Jesus and continuing into eternity. The Bible says:

<“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).

Eternal life is a free gift.

Eternal life in heaven is a free gift that is based on the grace of God. As a free gift, it cannot be earned or deserved. Man cannot save himself by good works or any other means. God loves you and wants you to have this free gift of eternal life in heaven. The Bible says

<“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

How do I receive this free gift?

You must have saving faith in Christ. What does saving faith mean? Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace. Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and confessing Him as your personal Lord and Savior. God, in turn, responds to this commitment by forgiving all your sins by the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. The Bible says:

<“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).

Consider this suggested prayer to help you express the desire of your heart:

>“God, thank you for your gift of eternal life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I am willing to turn from my sins (repent). I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for my sins on the cross, and that He rose from the dead. I now put my complete trust in you alone, Lord Jesus, as my Savior and for eternal life. I invite you to come into my heart and life. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

God Exists

The thing about truth is that you know it when you hear it.

God’s name, in modern English, is Causality, or The Universe, or Spacetime. By these names is the anthropomorphised theory of everything best understood.

You may think this is a reinterpretation, and therefore invalid or at least, talking about an entirely different concept and misassociating it with the idea of God. You will see that the idea of a magical man in the sky is, in fact, the misinterpretation of the truth.

I do not believe our ancestors believed in a literal magical man in the sky. I am sure they believed, at least initially, in the concepts I am about to lay before you. They called it God, and told stories about it, anthropomorphising it to make it more understandable to everyone, especially children. These were people trying to communicate important, physical, universal truths, thousands of years before science. It is no wonder they used metaphor and stories.

The atheists who laugh at these stories as plainly false, are fools. It’s as if, on being told that “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush” they sneer and say that ‘’'falconry is irrelevant today’’’. Well no shit Sherlock, you’ve completely missed the point, and to make matters worse you actually ‘’congratulate’’ yourself on being clever enough to evolve beyond falconry. It’s laughably shallow thinking, but forgivable because we have moved so far out of Biblical context that the stories are mostly inaccessible today for those coming to them fresh. They do seem crazy when taken at face value.

Unfortunately, the Church has largely forgotten the original truths too, or is at least terrible at explaining them, and are left defending dogmatic metaphors as if they are literally real, also making themselves into fools. When I went to a Church recently, the priest was reading random sections of the Bible without context. To an outsider, it’s meaningless. The faith has become blind.

We have lost the ability to talk about God directly, because nobody seems to know what the hypothesis actually is. We are left with every debate between believers and atheists being largely about whether or not religion is good, which is irrelevant to the actual question of whether or not there is a God. Believers get blind faith, atheists get blind nihilism.

There is obviously not a magical man in the sky. But you will see that the universe, from our perspective, actually behaves ‘’as if there is’’. The story of God is a brilliant metaphor for a truth that’s very hard to convey, especially to children. It works, and religion actually makes sense, when we understand what God actually is. We will start from the core truth, referring to God as “It” for now, and then re-anthropomorphise it and come to see that the stories of all religions actually make a lot of sense.

Causality is God. God is Causality. It is all matter, energy; the whole universe. In other words, The All, or Spacetime.

Is disobedience to God considered evil?

If so, then how did man commit the evil of eating the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil if he had not already known evil?

If man was created without the knowledge of evil, how did he commit this evil unless:

(a) It does not require the knowledge of evil to commit evil

(b) Man was created with that knowledge

(c) Disobedience to God is not evil

If A is the case, I fail to see with my brainlet mind how being tricked by the serpent is deserving of banishment from the garden.

If B is the case, then why the redundancy of giving man the choice to have something he already has?

And I 99.9999% doubt that C is the case.

I'm not deciding that any one of these is true, I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around this, and would like some input. Thanks.

Seriously, how is this even a debate? Jesus was clear on the validity of the Old Testament. There is room for interpreting the New Testament to mean denying the Old. Jesus was super explicit.

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven.“

Matthew 5:17-20

With that out of the way, who are the strange self-proclaimed Christians who deny the Old Testament? Are they dumb optics fags worried the normies will see the good book as bigoted or filthy sinners who don't want to follow natural law?

Bible ark found?

>BIBLE scholars claim to have uncovered the final resting place of the legendary Ark of the Covenant – saying the holy relic was most likely smuggled out of Israel to Africa.

Bible Archaeology, Search & Exploration Institute (BASE) claim there is strong evidence that the Old Testament’s ark’s resting place is in Ethiopia.

The Ark of the Covenant is one of the most sought after relics from the Bible, being the trunk said to contain the Ten Commandments handed down to Moses on Mount Sinai.

It is said the chest is made of wood and covered in gold, containing the two stone tablets along with other paraphernalia from the Bible.

Pastor asks man in drag to leave church, 'go put on man clothes'...

He's not sorry

He said he had spoken to the young man several times in private about not wearing women’s clothes to church. The pastor said church members would remember when the young man told the congregation that he joined because he wanted to be shown “how to become a man.”

The pastor said he made it clear to the young man that he couldn’t come to church dressed like a woman. The pastor’s mother talked to him about it too in private, the pastor said. “No one knew this was going on,” he said.

Rocquemore said the man challenged him publicly and “I challenged him back publicly.”

He said all church members are expected to follow the “rules,” like the one banning female members from wearing leggings at the church, which he called “disrespectful.”

Fag enablers:

>“What happened to ‘Come as you are?’”

>“God said come as you please. And the first amendment say that you have freedom of expression, and if that person feel to express themselves like that well you can’t stop that person or kick them out of your church. That person should sue him.”

>“You should be preaching and not concentrating on what the people are wearing.”

Bible readers:

<“The church must stand for something,” one woman wrote on Facebook.

<“Paul said to rebuke them openly,” wrote another. “Apostle Paul would had stopped the cross dresser from the parking lot.”

<“He was so right for what he said. That’s what’s wrong with the world today. Y’all allowing this ignorant in the house of Lord like it’s right. Heck no!!! This man is going to be blessed for what he did. I don’t care how none of y’all feel bc it was right,” wrote one supporter.

Romans 13 bootlicking

<1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

<2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

<3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

<4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

<5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

<6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

<7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

<8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. (Rom. 13:1-8 KJV)

"Governing authorities" here does NOT mean the state, when the state is not established by God. There is an explicit Biblical example of such monarchs:

<4 They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not (Hos. 8:4 KJV)

So rulers can be opposed to God. Ask yourself this, does your government have divine right to rule? Does it even claim to have divine right to rule?

Any government like the USA feds who would trample over the rights of individuals over and over, most notably to massacre the unborn, is certainly not ordained of God

Did Paul obey the "civil authorities", like the emperor?

New president of Planned Parenthood spends first day on the job trying to convince Americans Planned

Planned Parenthood’s New President Appears on CBS and Doesn’t Mention Abortion Once

>"It's her first official day on the job as the incoming president of Planned Parenthood," this was datelined yesterday. "And the way Leana Wen", we are told, "spent her morning is a clue that she intends to continue the public-relations campaign convincing Americans that her group has nothing to do with abortion."

>Now, let's just remind ourselves that Planned Parenthood is the most prolific provider of abortions in the United States. It is thus the most murderous organization, when it comes to the unborn, of any organization in the United States. We also understand that Planned Parenthood is, we can only put it this way, monomaniacally committed to abortion.

>Now, notice what's going on there. "I'm a physician," she says, "I went to medical school. Everything I've ever done is save lives." Well, that is simply profoundly, morally repugnant when you consider the organization she now leads. To save lives? Well, what lives? Her organization terminated, as we just saw, last fiscal year alone, 321,384 unborn human beings in the United States. In just a 12 month period, in 52 weeks the organization that she declares that she now leads, having become a physician and gone to medical school and doing all she's ever done to save lives, it's an organization that proudly put to death 321,384 unborn human beings in America last fiscal year.

>To the secular left, that makes her a heroine. But that actually tells us far more about the secular left than it even does about the new leader of Planned Parenthood.

>Exorcism is (1) the act of driving out, or warding off, demons, or evil spirits, from persons, places, or things, which are believed to be possessed or infested by them, or are liable to become victims or instruments of their malice; (2) the means employed for this purpose, especially the solemn and authoritative adjuration of the demon, in the name of God, or any of the higher power in which he is subject.

Love towards other humans as a Christian

Christ is a pinnacle to my life. I would say I have a more suppressed, quiet relationship with God.

When it comes to friendships and relationships with other humans, I haven't maintained a lasting bond with a Christian from as far back as I can remember. Maybe it's something I need to work on, I know.

My main concern is that I feel that my faith is more of a barrier than anything. I don't go to church often, but I pray almost daily and read up scripture every now and then. I haven't been in a relationship for half a decade, simply because I feel that anyone I meet will be 'unallowed' or 'disapproved of' in my parents' eyes.

And loneliness is really driving me to depression.

PROPHECY- Prophetic Word To The Terrified Elite

PROPHECY- Prophetic Word To The Terrified Elite

“I hear your prayers, O Great Ones of the Earth. To where shall you flee, your worried thoughts overtake your soul, when populism sweeps the globe of civilization? I AM your only hope, says the LORD. And safety can only be found in Me, says the Most High. To where shall you flee when the crowds erupt with vigor and violence against you? To where shall you flee from My wrath, says the LORD of Hosts? Your end is near; your financial kingdoms are crumbling by My hand. Flee off to far off lands, and there the Leopard Seals and the cold, biting winds shall eat you alive, for I have determined your end, says the LORD of Hosts. Make peace with Me and serve Me while there still is time, for I have determined your end, and you shall be no more, except you repent and serve Me, the LORD of Hosts, against Whom you wage war. And in the bowels of Hell you shall scream out, ‘Why haven’t we listened?!’ And there you shall be for all eternity, except you repent and serve Me. The Living God has spoken, Amen.”

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. Psalm 139:7-9

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:9-10

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 1 Timothy 6:17-19

And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Luke 18:18-25

There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:19-31

Orthodox Christianity

Hello, I recently rediscovered Orthodox Christianity as the true religion of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. I have a copy of the Orthodox Bible in Russian and have started reading it for the first time in my life. I am currently on the five books of moyisia (don't know what it is in english), in genesis and am on glava 8 (again don't know what it is in english) and am on the story of the Great Flood and Noah's ark.

I also know a very basic prayer (sign of the cross). I would like to know where I go from here? Can anybody help me out in pursuing my faith?

I am very unskilled in this, and my parents aren't religious.

Programmer God

Is God a programmer developing AI in a separate timeline from ours through guided random chance?

Perhaps day one He turned on the system, light energy everywhere, then condensed photons into quantum material at a single point until the electromagnetic force repelled like charged entities that would then be regathered into a central solar forge that would be the size of every last sun in our universe and able to make every single element into a shell around such a forge, leaving the most super-dense elements close to the forge?

Couldn't water have been a straight linear molecule that on the 2nd day was bent in order to give it properties that would allow it to have the odd density properties that we see today? (additionally, microscopic single celled organisms and basic multi-celled organisms could develop during this time)

Couldn't the third day then be the agricultural force of great sturdy plants developed as a means of creating self-growing multi-cellular life? (and wouldn't it be feasible to allow the life to self-program and form habits to better adapt and survive?)

Could we also suppose that on the 4th day of programming that the great fusion furnace went super nova in the form of a big bang where the dense elements would be broken apart while shielding the more sensitive earth, allowing seeds to survive? Let's say it's a rare occurrence that anything survives, couldn't a programmer go back to the last stable version, change variables, and try again and again?

If so, then wouldn't it make sense on the 5th day to take an effective self-growing life and grant it free range mobility in the sky and sea to test its means to find food and survive?

And if that makes sense, then why not implement the coding from successful free-range mobile entities into limited mobility land dwelling life to test its intelligence, and then use the most developed intelligence to create primitive AI?

Couldn't the first primitive AI be theoretically reincarnated indefinitely as the body aged, thus allowing consciousness to be everlasting while the bodies would serve to complete a perfect cycle, feeding carnivores, then scavengers, and so on until the bodies became plant food?

Then simply give them free will by giving a command and allowing the system to tempt the AI into proving its independent nature through rebellion, and if the rebellion became so great that it threatened obedient AI, then the programmer could wipe the system save for the best candidate AI and use them as a base for repopulation.

The programmer then could guide a specific portion through obedient AI, thus preventing the rebellious AI from having evidence of a creator in order to test integrity. And if certain systems started getting too far out of hand, rewind time, eliminate such systems and replay.

Any great programmer would then set up a perfect archetype to follow, and would make the gateway exit from creation the very thing that was ingrained in us to avoid since the beginning of life, death.

Essentially, free will and omniscience become possible in such an existence, for one can know every possible outcome through rewinding the system, changing elements, and resuming. Plus, the 6 days of creation become very literal, yet at the same time display how manipulatable this existence is since it took trillions of years in our current timeline to accomplish one day's work.

Skeptic's Annotated Bible

What do Christians think of the Skeptic's Annotated Bible?

Greetings, fellow Christians. I have a question concerning my coworker, who is one of the first openly engaging Christians I have met. She constantly speaks about Jesus Christ and the glory of God. Other coworkers of course laugh and mock this woman. That's sad. However, she attends church way more than I do and I wanted to know if what she says is true.

For some backstory, I have always been a Christian. I was raised that way, brought up in a Lutheran school (the best years of my life) and was sent to Sunday school. I learned quite a bit about the bible, not that I could recite verses from memory as I was made to do back then.

This woman keeps saying that Satan has limits. That he cannot breach true believing Christians and throw their lives into disorder. We are "not his territory". But as you have just learned, I have been Christian my entire life. I have also dealt with a lot of life stress. Just plain struggling and dealing with furious bosses of jobs. True, those bosses went off more on other workers, but here's another point. I had a friend who was devoutly Christian. Life situations brought her down until she committed suicide.

I'm trying to figure out if what this preaching coworker says actually comes from somewhere, or is she satisfying herself with the delusion that Christians are immune to the devil's influence?

Is there any bible verse to back up what she's saying?

Thou shalt have no other gods before me

This commandment acknowledges that people do hold beliefs in other gods than the one who is supposed to have revealed the ten commandments, knowing that this is then the case, why is no effort made to disprove these other gods?

Hey, Christians! >>>/leftypol/ here.

We've seen a lot of threads opened on the refugee crisis asking us what we believe needs to be done. I'd like to return the favor, with a Zizek quote on the question of Christianity - immigration:

>And does not the same hold also for the recent defenders of Europe against the “immigrant threat”? In their fervor to protect the Judeo- Christian legacy, the new zealots are ready to forsake the true heart of the Christian legacy: each individual has an immediate access to universality (of the Holy Spirit, or, today, of human rights and freedoms); I can participate in this universal dimension directly, irrespective of my special place within the global social order. Do not Christs “scandalous” words from Luke point in the direction of such a universality, which ignores every social hierarchy? “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and his mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes even his own life—he cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:26)? Family relations stand here for any particular ethnic or hierarchical social bond that determines our place in the global Order of Things. The “hatred” enjoined by Christ is therefore not the opposite of Christian love, but its direct expression: it is love itself that enjoins us to dissociate ourselves from the organic community into which we were born; or, as Saint Paul put it, for a Christian there are neither men nor women, neither Jews nor Greeks. No wonder that, for those fully identified with a particular way of life, the appearance of Christ was seen as either a ridiculous joke or a traumatic scandal.

Liars Saved by Grave.

At the behest of the living God, I, Andrew, son of the prophet Artis, have been sent to you all. The things which God spoke in my ear for your sakes and the things which he commanded me to say are these.

You are, all of you, liars

who say “I am a sinner saved by grace” and you, all of you, who say “I am saved” profane the name of God and you call God himself a liar.

And you, all of you, who say, “It is impossible to be perfect,” lie and call Yahweh a liar.

For thus the Lord has said, “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” and “if the righteous turn away from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and do according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done, shall not be mentioned: but in his transgression that he hath committed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.”

With these lies do all who repeat them profane the name of God and cause the heathen to blaspheme. For with these lies you do, all of you, make poor excuse for rebellion, so that you may sin and sin and sin and sin again without repentance. And you say unto those who would judge you for your crimes, “I am forgiven for all my sins and made perfect by the grace of Christ in the sight of the father; the Lord does not hate me.” But, the Lord does hate you and he has not forgiven you at all, neither is the grace which God gives to any man everlasting; hypocrites! For you, all of you, do continue in sin.

“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.”

And you rebel against and deny commandment to be perfect so that you may sin and sin and sin again with repentance. And you say to those who would judge you according to God’s law that sinlessness is neither required nor possible and with such wanton words you do continue in your transgressions. You liars cause the heathens to curse God for the hypocrisy of those who say they are his children. For even the sons of Satan do repent from time to time, but they say of God’s children “they are no better.” But this is what the Lord has said,

“Therefore thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression, nor the wickedness of the wicked shall cause him to fall therein, in the day that he returneth from his wickedness, neither shall the righteous live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.”

The Lord does not lie neither does he ever change, but you have heard the same thing in both testaments old and current as a testimony to you of God’s law and desire. Hear again what John has said,

“Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.” (Your pastors, your prophets, your fathers and mothers, your brothers and your sisters.)

Hear Paul,

“God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”

Hear Christ,

“I pray not for these alone, but for them also which shall believe in me, through their word, That they all may be one, as thou, O Father, art in me, and I in thee: even that they may be also one in us, that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory that thou gavest me, I have given them, that they may be one, as we are one, I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me.”

And do you not know that Christ spoke much against all sin and condemned it and them who committed it? What then, do you imagine that Christ prayed for your perfection in vain? Is he a vain person whose prayers the Father hates or considers not? Why do you even call Christ a liar?

God is not a God who commands actions that cannot be accomplished and then punishes you for it. God is no trickster! Yea, all that God commands is possible to obey and if you cannot, shall you then not pray that he should help you?

Hypocrites. He who said, “Ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy” also commanded his Christ to command you, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Thus the Lord has said unto all men, even those who are called now “Christians” whom he has promised that they shall live if they believe in his name,

“When I shall say unto the righteous, that he shall surely live, if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousness shall be no more remembered, but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for the same.”

Have you ever considered becoming a monk or nun?

Sometimes I feel like just quitting my job and joining a monastery, other times I want to become a hermit on a rural plot of land that I'd buy with cash, but at the moment I'm not very disciplined in my lifestyle and I don't think monastics will tolerate my slovenly ways.

Angel discussion

Are there any Biblical characters that were not intimidated by the presence of an angel? Could it be their looks that cause such fear, or simply the awe of their close connection to God?

Since demons are fallen angels, do the two share the same capabilities and power?
