"CliffSide is an 11 minute TV series pilot following Waylon, aka "Two-Bit Jerry," a wannabe gunslinger in the cursed town of CliffSide who discovers being "bad" isn't all it's chalked up to be."

Second part will be uploaded in next post.

Proof of concept to a sponsor that you are competent enough to make a good show that will be received well? If you search for any older pilot the actors and the animation was at least decent enough to show the team was ready to produce a show, they just needed funding to make the rest of it.

Do YOU understand the meaning of a pilot episode?

Now, I want to see a cliffside written by one of you guys.

If you put traits of yourself into the main male lead, how would he change?

 No.1054430

>>1054428

>traits of yourself

this isn't the endgame for writing a good character, it just helps to have some life experience to know what a person would be like in these scenarios

>Overall it's a western style show with fantasy elements, "what if in the wild west there were just monsters popping up?"

>main character can be a crackshot but have no confidence in himself, not monologue centric and actually trying to gain enough confidence to be the cool guy

>or make him really poor and shooting, but over confident, constantly shittalking the enemies, kinda like dante with no power, or leon with no aim

>whatever you do, make sure you don't make him look like a sniveling weakling

>Make the girl so used to the shit happening that she's unphased and taking care of herself very easily

>make it so she's what the main character strives to be

>have the spider chick what the main character isn't; if he's confident and a poor shot, make her unconfident, but a great shot

 No.1054575

>>1054428

>>1054430

I kinda like the idea that the main male lead is actually really competent, but due to trying to lay low he is playing the character of an idiot or buffoon, and he has to keep the con going. I feel that kind of thing fits well with the theme of starting new in the west.

Then he trains up the spider waifu through practical experience, while maintaining the masquerade. She would know he is actually not lying when he brags, but everyone else thinks that he is just faking it because of his buffoon act.

His bragging could cause trouble by spreading rumors to people who are looking for him, but when they find him they dont believe he is the one they are looking for. Opens up lots of potential for comedy and hubris related antics.

 No.1054603

>>1054575

>laying low

>talking himself up

these things automatically don't make any sense when you put them together. Anyone who is trying to lay low will often show a lack of self esteem but when they get into a dire situation they get really into it and mentally engage for the trial ahead. You need these life experiences to know how these kinda of people think.

Unlike some others here, I'm a sick fuck that generally enjoys stories where the main character does nothing but cycle through moments of abject suffering punctuated by brief moments of success, because I find it a more realistic and relatable depiction of real life. It's why I fell in love with Berserk, and it's why I initially enjoyed your comic. That aside though, you really should fix the holes in your writing, e.g. the lack of character and motivation for your own MC. I can't imagine your objectives included "how would people react if the writing was really flawed?", because you seem to understand already that there's a separation between safe banal garbage and actual content, and I don't assume you to be the kind of person to go "LETS PRETEND TO BE RETARDED".

ANIMATED FEATURE FILM

>Incredibles 2

>Isle of Dogs

>Mirai

>Ralph Breaks the Internet

>Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

ANIMATED SHORT FILM

>Animal Behavior

>Bao

>Late Afternoon

>One Small Step

>Weekends

Admittedly, there’s not much to discuss about the Oscars anymore, at least as far as /co/ content is concerned. Animated Feature Film is gonna be Incredibles or Ralph and Animated Short Film is gonna be Bao. The only tossup worth mentioning this year is that Black Panther was nominated for Best Picture (in one of the most pozzed Best Picture lineups I’ve ever seen).

There was good commentary in Panther but I cringed whenever they brought the colonizer shit up. That's like calling all white people nazis, which is basically just as racist. They keep bringing it up even though:

A: The people from Wakanda don't even know racism or white supremacy, except the few ones living in other cities, so how is it a current topic from them.

B: Was Wakanda even a part of slavery? They keep implying they never supported any outsider, so they are just cowards without a clue.

Even more hilarious that "Wakanda Forever" was translated for the German version in a way that it sounds like the 3rd Reich. "Wakanda above everything."

Well I liked Killmonger too. Because he was actually right, except the genocide part.

Which made Black Panther and everyone else look like ignorant idiots and I lost all my sympathy in the character and Wakanda.

I think most episodes in season 6 are unwatchable that one included. Finn and Jake try to mimic James and spend half the episode practicing their retardation. The episode ends with some random skeleton ghost which I'm pretty sure was included to fill up the 11 minutes. To say that episode is why animation sucks is pure retardation.

I think that the first 3 seasons were well crafted when it comes to the designs background music and story. All the writers, storyboarders, artists, and musicians contributed quite a bit to make it unique and establish a mood. Adventure Time started to suck because those people that made it great move on to other projects.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure Lord Business was originally based on Dubya Bush. He has very little screen time in this film and Ferrell quite literally phoned it in, as he's only on screen once in a flashback. Maya Rudolph handled the parent chores this time, which is presumably why the boychild looks 1/4 wop, 1/4 nog, and 1/2 ew-jay.

Took my sullen 15 year old daughter to see it. She was darkly commenting on how thw hobbit-boy was just like her own older brother, not wanting to play with her. I then pointed out she was just like the little sister in the movie, wanting him to only play her way and never wanting to do what he wanted.

She mysteriously stopped talking.

>North American manga publisher Viz Media announced plans to launch Viz Originals, a new imprint that will publish original graphic novels by artists inspired by manga and anime. Plans for the new imprint were announced during the Viz Media panel at Emerald City Comic Con this weekend.

>Viz Media executive v-p and publisher Leyla Aker told PW that the imprint will launch with “a handful of titles” but the house does not have an exact number to announce as yet. Aker said “Viz Originals will be an incubator for innovative ideas and storytelling. It’s a long-term initiative and we want to do it right, not fast.”

>One of the largest publishers of licensed Japanese comics (aka manga) in North America, Viz Media is the publisher of such bestselling manga series as My Hero Academia, Tokyo Ghoul, Pokemon, Naruto and One Piece. But Viz has also published original graphic novels in the past.

On a scale from "very" to "totally", how fucked is the comics industry?

I remember coming across a web comic that unashamedly traced over the whole "didn't know we had a scene here! Quick, improvise!" pages from Adam Warren's "Magical Drama Queen Roxy" from Gen 13.

I wish I'd bookmarked it, they just lifted the whole pages and the dialogue.

>Written by Steve Ditko

>Hardcover DC Comics 20 oz

>On sale Nov 05, 2019 | 400 Pages | 978-1-4012-9889-0

>With a new HBO Watchmen series coming soon, DC collects some of the best stories starring the heroes that inspired the cast of the original WATCHMEN comic series.

>At the height of comics’ 1960s Silver Age, artist Steve Ditko was winning praise for his spectacular work on Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. At the same time, Ditko was also creating powerful tales of other heroes: Charlton Comics’ Blue Beetle, Captain Atom and the Question. Now, for the first time, DC collects stories starring these enigmatic heroes, plus the Peacemaker and others — the heroes that provided the inspiration for WATCHMEN team members Night Owl, Doctor Manhattan, Rorschach, the Comedian and more. This title includes CAPTAIN ATOM (1966) #83-86, BLUE BEETLE (1967) #1-6, MYSTERIOUS SUSPENSE #1, CHARLTON PREMIERE #3, THE CHARLTON BULLSEYE (1975) #1, #5, THE CHARLTON BULLSEYE (1981) #1, AMERICOMICS #3 and AMERICOMICS SPECIAL #1.

They're going to be charging $60 for this crap. So here's all those comics for free. You're welcome. https://mega.nz/#!WbgXiYSa!mV7oT3rkXad2zTiFW0M0dDymVNWwNI_U1VsAy2Anvic

This is different though. Elektra was just a standard Marvel character created under standard work-for-hire contract which meant that Frank Miller didn't own the character and didn't really have any rights to her. Alan Moore, on the other hand, was supposed to have signed a contract for Watchmen that would have given DC the right to publish the book for a number of years but then Moore would have owned it, the characters, the copyright, everything. You know, like the kind of contract they have at a proper book publisher's. Of course the reality is that DC swindled him and put it into the contract that he'd get his rights back when Watchmen went out of print and of course they kept it in print. So Moore's rage is justifiable

More golden-age reprints on the shelves can't be a bad thing (yes, I know I could. Fuck you, I like paper.), but to do it like this? You just know faggot reviewers are going to think they're getting a "prequel" and then sperging out because the stories are just unconnected good clean fun.

Post examples of cartoons that have a distinct east(japan)/west collaboration. All I can think of is Little Nemo, Tekkonkinkreet, and Mutafukaz

Quite a few older European cartoons were collabs with Japan. One of them was Marcelino, which is among the best /christian/ cartoons ever made, and it was actually decent on its own merits too.

And then there are mumins, of course. I am surprised no one mentioned them yet.
