Now I know people are split on CG but lets talk about it for a thread. It has its uses and it doesn't but when it comes down to it is great for animation as a whole.

Take for example Hotwheels Highway 35 a typical toy movie but I think you can appreciate it for the little things the human animation is very dated but I the car/racing animation is really top notch even for todays standards.really shows you why Mainframe were the kings of this shit back in the day.

Because they thought they were guaranteed a fanbase and wouldn't have to invest in anything other than trying to get nigs and chinks to like it. And sure, there's the faggot convention goers that cry every time a poster is released or some shit, but even casualfags will eventually stop clapping for a logo when you give them nothing but cheap shit.

>Great CG animation is located in film and videogames now.

Yeah, but they are getting slowly affected too from short deadlines. For example in films the clippings in the Warcrafts.

Depends, tbh.

To be fair, CW was funded by Lucasbucks, while Disney always goes cheap for their cartoons. See also: Marvel.

Well, yeah. If you're going to have a single location and a recurring cast, might as well make them interesting.

Has Disney always been so cheap with their money? I feel like it's a recent phenomena.

All media creators have a responsibility to their audience. Any creator who claims that they don't have to do anything with what they're making is a liar. Either you are making your audience smarter or dumber, either you build them up or you rot their brains.

No they don't you're just autistic.

>Either you are making your audience smarter or dumber, either you build them up or you rot their brains.

Or make them laugh? Media can have other purposes, and what you're describing sounds like a parent's job. The creators aren't your parents.

>this isn't fanfiction dot net

you mean you don't want to read my story about Superman keeping Kara locked up in the fortress as his sex slave in an attempt to revive his species one baby at a time?

Zac snyder directs it

Its called "The Superman"

Superman kills criminals, the bad guy is a flat, boring, butchered martian manhunter who wants to destroy earth for a stupid reason and looks human for no reason. Also his mammy dies. Everything else is an incoherant jumble of plot threads, including a green lantern that appears and says one line

>having isolated himself at the Kent farm after Lois died, and given up superhero-ing.

What is it with "Superman fans" and wanting Supes to be a loser cuck who gives up on superheroing after losing Lois Lame?

It's like you faggots WANT people to think that Superman is lame and won't hold steadfast in the face of the greatest trials.

So I just watched the original series and I was surprised how well it holds up. It's pretty much the quintessential globe-trotting adventure put to film. The first thing that catches attention is that it's not in any way a kids show, it could have easily been a live action serial as most stories are told in a kinda pulpy detective-adventure style, with everyone constantly getting punched, shot, exploded and strangled, wenches get kissed etc. What was really surprising is that there's no preset formula for the episodes - while you can always rely on Race to guerilla warfare through the natives, the show loves to constantly incapacitate and separate everyone, so pretty much anything can happen in an episode.

The animation is really nice, now, mind you, this is still Hanna-Barbera, so a lot of limited animation is in use and unintentional hilarity resulting from it, but together with that deep shaded comic book look and phenomenal OST it works, and still holds up better than a lot of subsequent cartoons (not to mention that shows today ape that style ironically), especially when you consider how ridiculously old the show is. It's so old, it predates even the original Star Trek, so imagine living in a time when there's pretty much nothing to watch or to do and suddenly this comes along. No wonder it became such a big hit.

Some choice episodes to check if you don't want to watch the entire show: The House of Seven Gargoyles, The Quetong Missile Mystery, Shadow of the Condor, The Devil's Tower.

Gonna be checking the 90s reboot now. Do stay away from the "New adventures" though, now that's trash.

Johnny Quest is in no way realistic.

You know what I mean. Animation lends itself naturally to abstract art and surrealism, but everyone insists upon using it to either imitate other mediums like film and comics

How retarded are you? You just said that animation shouldn't be limited to something and then say that it shouln't do that and should be limited to this.

Animation can do whatever the fuck it wants. If it wants to imitate film, so it shall do, it's still not gonna be film and gonna be transformative. Also, it's cheaper to do an animated show than a live action one; if you don't want to create looney garbage but a serious show instead, but can only afford to do it in animation, that's perfectly reasonable. Kys, farthuffer, filtered.

That's a lot of unessesary anger for someone having a different preference in animation than you. I never said I think shows like this shouldn't exist, I just don't like then

You need to calm your fucking tits

He's pretty retarded.

Soviet Animation is often well-overlooked in the Animation-circles. Soiet Animation always has a surrealistic quality to it. The Hermit Nation shows itself to be just that, a hermit nation, as their animation is uniquely their own with no outside influence. I think it's time we had a thread to respect this.

Embed is a famous film, "Eine murul: The Breakfast on the Grass" made by Estonian cartoonist Prit Paarn. This was one of the first works created during the campaign of "Glasnot", in which Gorbochev allowed his civilians to critisie the government without fear. The film is a critique on the Russian-brand of Communism, but at the same time anylizes the other side of the coin – Capitalism and Materialism. (English Subtitles in caption).

File: bd6c4863b31090b⋯.jpg (88.97 KB, 600x473, 600:473, batman-new-52-0-red-hood-g….jpg)

During the Doomday Clock thread, an old questions came to my mind again. I've read the Capullo/Snyder New52 run (yes I know) and one thing keeps bugging me because I just don't understand if its trying to be clever, or was resolved, or was an edgy twist or just a mistake.

First, it was confirmed that the Killing Joke continuity was retconned. Then, during Batman New52s origin story, Bruce had to face his first villain as vigilante, the Red Hood Gang. You don't find out anything about them, except the leader keeps grinning and in the end falls into chemicals (like Joker did in Killing Joke).

In Endgame, Joker forces Harley to wear the Red Hood costume to tease Batman. However, it's not the Red Hood gang's one, but the Killing Joke one, with cape and all. So the Killing Joke was canon again.

But THEN it turns out the Joker may or may not be hundreds of years old due to a Lazarus pit under Gotham.

So what the hell is going on there?

Is the Red Hood leader Joker who looked normal before falling into the chemicals? Was Killing Joke canon and the Red Hood gang just a stupid coincidence which Batman never mentions?

If Killing Joke never happened then, why would Jason Todd wear a Red Hood mask with no connection to the Red Hood gang (or does he?). Was the Joker on the photos from Gotham's history actually there or just a reflection?

It just hurts my brain, not because it's a plotpoint to give the already edgy New52 Joker a "whats actually his backstory" twist (because the Lazarus pit actually IS there). But I wanna know if it was a mistake or not and what I missed.

When you told me you prefer prankster Joker, I didn't know you prefer retarded 70s Joker who paints pictures in a museum or rings bells and runs away or some shit.

Yeah but I'm talking about, how's that much worse than what Joker did to Batman on Earth 0 and didn't make him kill the Joker?!

Re-enacting the Wayne murders seemed kinda lame compared to… I dunno… pretending to serve him the faces of the whole Bat-family for lunch. Staging a scenario where Joe Chill after inhaling the laughing gas is about to kill an innocent family. Drowning families before flooding a city. Hitting Jim Gordon (!) with an axe. Permanently (?) driving Lucius Fox mad with his gas…

The only reason nothing that New 52 Joker did was enough for Batman to kill him…. is because it's the main line comics and they can't kill off their cashcow villain.

Still there should have been more punishment. He feel down a cliff because he stumbled. Boo-hoo.

That's the logical reasoning. We both know comics aren't reasonable.

Has anyone seen it yet? If not, here's a magnet.

I think it lacked foreshadowing and Doomsday rampaging. Here, the league gets in on the action almost from the start while in the comics I think he plows through 3 different teams before the main branch of the

league has a go at it.

>Bibbo's dialogues are pretty faithful to the comics from what I remember.

>Hawkman gets trashed, surprising no one

>Aquaman gets bitch slapped so hard he stays out of the movie until the funeral

>Flash gets slapped by a lucky punch

>Green Lantern tries to show off, and proceeds to get his constructs broken to the point he loses consciousness

>Batman survives by dodgetanking until Doomsday gets tired of putting up with his plot armor and decides to go for some civilians instead

>Wonder Woman survives the longest but in the end is no match

>Martian Manhunter actually counters Doomsday perfectly…. until he lands in an (in)conveniently placed fire that puts him out for the rest of the movie.

>Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Ice, Fire, Guardian, Guy Gardner and that villainess-turned-heroine-that-wanted-superman's-warrior-dick-whose-name-I-cannot-remember-for-the-life-of-me do not appear.

>No Matrix Supergirl (or any Supergirl in that regard) at all.

>Luthor's house arrest is the biggest farce in the entire movie. Also, he dons his Australian Luthor wig at one point.

>Cyborg showcasts his daddy issues and gets destroyed again just like every other tuesday. That character is madPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

OK, it's shit. It is missing too much. Doomsday has zero buildup. There is zero reason to be afraid of him, the way he gets shoved around by Wonder Woman even makes him look weak.

The last fight also sucks. It just feels small and too long, rather than epic and earth shattering. The resurrection attempts are completely missing which severely lowers the emotional impact of Superman's death. And maybe it's just bad voice acting and the art style, but emotions seem to be missing from the movie as a whole.

File: c0b11fc8ddab058⋯.png (6.35 MB, 1440x2256, 30:47, ClipboardImage.png)

Oh, and they did not even communicate how Superman managed to kill Doomsday. Or that Superman was seriously fearing for his life.

The problem with the new DC animated movie line is that every movie either focuses on Superman being better than everyone else despite other league members actually being able to hold off him or doomsday in the actual comic books.

A lot of characters are just made incompetent or weak to make superman/batman look good.

The actual Death of Superman is pretty boring. Funeral for a Friend and Reign of the Supermen are where the money's at.

Agreed. The Death was a bunch of splash pages of Superman fighting a monster we'd never seen before.

>Adult Swim has confirmed that its beloved adventure series spoof/ongoing examination of failure and sadness, The Venture Bros., will be coming back sooner than expected. Per Forbes, the network responded to recent questions about the show’s return by stating that it’ll be back this summer, coming as something of a surprise for fans who’ve been waiting eagerly for any kind of news about when the title Bros. might next appear.

>It’s been more than two years since we last checked in with Hank, Dean, Rusty, Brock, and the rest of the deluded, costumed man-children who make up their universe, with 2016's sixth season feeling both weirdly short, and also more heavily invested in the serialized storytelling elements that have always lurked in the back of the show’s DNA. This new information, meanwhile, comes in the aftermath of a recent interview with Chris Prynoski, whose Titmouse Studios handles the animation duties on the series. Prynoski was apparently tight-lipped about when the series might be making its way back to TV, but Adult Swim was a lot more open, responding to inquiries with a straightforward summer 2018 date. (And while this all feels a little roundabout, series creator Jackson Publick retweeted the Forbes piece quoting this potential return, which feels like pretty strong confirmation that the show will soon be back.)

Exactly, yet many refuse to acknowledge this due to needless sentimentality. No TV show, comic or cartoon has ever been able to air for an incredibly extended period without eventually becoming stale and falling to decay. Without even bringing up obvious targets like Spongebob and Simpsons, even Sesame Street is a far cry from what it was. Same is true for animu IPs. Only show on Earth that has consistently been able to run for 49 years while using the same formula and maintaining the same ratings is Japan's Sazae-san, but that's more of a cultural thing and it was dull from the beginning so it never had much to lose.

Yes, Anon. This was before Cartoon Network bought the hammer down. After that, they renamed Race, "Red."
