If we take Captain American as an endorsement of government decisions in WWII, he's down with segregation, prison time for sodomy and abortion, and food rationing.

Yeah it completely rekt the grrl power shit. Not only is she special specifically because she's no longer a human/woman, but getting "empowered" that way is a direct result of getting gang raped (although the latter part was implied from the start).

a bunch of the episodes aren't sci fi at all

the witness was scifi themed but more supernatural

the vampire one was just supernatural action horror

so was the werewolf one

the japanese waifu one eventually became sci fi (steampunk really) but had more focus on the nature spirits

the yogurt one had a scifi premise but the story was more just a surreal comedy

also red army vs demons was just supernatural

In terms of mature animation anthology, is better or worse than Where The Dead Go To Die?

You do realize that supernatural has only been "excluded" from sci-fi in the 90s and exclusively in the mainstream, right?

>Sources tell Variety that Warners and Warner Animation Group (WAG) are in negotiations with “Shaft” helmer Tim Story to direct the new “Tom and Jerry” live-action/animated hybrid. The studio has also brought on Chris Columbus as creative producer on the new “Scooby-Doo” animated movie.

>Warners has been strengthening its animation slate since production on the “The Lego Movie,” which coincided with the formation of Warner Animation Group in 2013. Allison Abbate was tapped to oversee the division and executives, including Jesse Ehrman and president of production Courtenay Valenti, have made a big push to get classic titles like the Hanna-Barbera properties off the ground. The studio understands how much of its history is rooted in these iconic characters, and wants to give them as much attention as DC and Harry Potter projects.

>Warner Bros. is aiming for a balance of animated features and live-action hybrids, and in a rare move, the studio has made a concerted effort to make sure the animation and live-action teams are working hand in hand in developing these projects, something rarely seen at other studios. Executives also understand that for the animation to be strong for the hybrid projects, the VFX some studios use won’t work as well as going through the animation process, starting with storyboarding the characters, instead of pre-vis, to help develop each individual’s arc.

>“Tom and Jerry” is expected to be the first live-action hybrid to shoot in 2019 and insiders say timing helped when it came to landing the “Ride Along” director, who had worked in animation. Story recently finished production on New Line’s “Shaft” reboot, and was talking to WB execs about what he was interested in doing next. When the classic cartoon property was brought up, Story immediately mentioned his admiration for the characters and how he’d love tackling that property. For that film, the plan is to shoot in the real world with animated versions of the familiar cat and mouse duo. Sources also say that since Tom and Jerry didn’t speak and relied on physical comedy to draw laughs, this version will stick to that style and not cast actors to voice the duo. That decision should also help add to the international appeal of the film.

That's why they're getting a remake retard.

In all seriousness how would Tom & Jerry work as a film? There's only so much you can do with slapstick for an hour and a half before it becomes grating.

Probably something similar to what they did with their first animated film. Spoiler: there was almost no slapstick

I just realized there is surprisingly very little /co/ material that focuses in the Crusades from either side. It's either part of an character's backstory (main protagonist is an veteran) or the setting at large but never where the story itself takes place. The closest thing I could find was the El Cid, which is more of a work about the Reconquista even though the Reconquista itself technically predates the Crusades, it's often given crusade treatment by historians.

What are some comics and cartoons that deal bout the Crusades?

>Karaoğlan is a Turkish historical comic book that was created in 1963 by Suat Yalaz.

>The comic's story takes place between the 12th and 13th centuries in Central Asia during the reign of Genghis Khan. The main character, Karaoğlan, is a young Uygur Turkic adventurer who worked as a scout in Genghis Khan's army. Karaoğlan is portrayed as a 23-year-old adventurous and brave youngster. He is nomadic and travels throughout Eurasia in his stories. He traveled as far as China, India, Constantinople and Siberia. He is accompanied by his faithful friend Balaban, an ex-captain in the Mongolian army and his father Baybora. His nemesis is Camoka, a Mongolian bandit who raids villages with his men.

>Karaoğlan has an interesting origin story. His mother was killed in a tribal blood feud and his father (which he will reunite with years later) Baybora had to run while Karaoğlan was just a baby. He was raised by a woodsman. Because he was never officially named with a ritual by his father (this was the tradition in those times) the boy remained nameless. The woodsman called him "black boy" (karaoğlan) because of his long black hair.

>Suat Yalaz based his stories on Turkish history and folklore. He was faithful to the language and daily life of that era. Because it originally started as a daily newspaper comic strip, stories were focused for a mature audience with serious issues of war, politics, history and eroticism. Humor is also an important part of stories. Characters are never portrayed as two-dimensional heroes or villains. The socio-political aura of 1960s and 1970s Turkey is also reflected in Yalaz's stories.

That sounds interesting, how's the art? Good battle scenes?

Considering how famous it apparently is, and from the cover art (because I can't find a copy anywhere), it's probably worth checking out. I just copy-pasted from the wikipedia article about it.

Manga improves around issue 50, once the 'prologue' arc is wrapped up. Most people I discussed it with like the second arc the most, and then there is a tossup between first and the third. If you like action, you will likely prefer first part to the third one.

Overall, it is a decent manga, but nothing too crazy. Its fans hype it up too much.

Well nordic people like germanics and slavs posses steppe dna. But i think the author went a bit overboard with it.

If you like or even love a certain type of medium or genre then why should you feel the need to deconstruct it?

If you don't like or even hate a certain type of medium or genre or don't like certain aspects or tendencies of it then why should you feel the need to deconstruct it? Just ignore it and move to a genre or type of medium you like or offer your own take on it in a constructive way.

That's not even what's good about it. Hell, the "raw shock value" of Watchmen is maybe like two pages.

>Alan Moore thought "hey, we can do more with superheroes and comics than we are currently doing".

Bullshit. All his writing is filled with arrogance and LOATHING, and he has done fucking NOTHING with his own work.

The truth is that the man is a arrogance bitter asshole who thought he deserved "Higher Level" work, but then turns out he couldn't and his ideas ended up destroying the medium.

I call bullshit on his

>"people just copied his style of writing rather than his philosophy of writing."

thing. Its more like his bad ideas are thrust back into his face and now he has to live with them.

League of Extraordinary Gentlement is a great example. Remove moores name, and all your left with is a butchering of classic characters with stupid levels of unnecessary grimness.

Like Imagine so many of his "Classic" Stories without his name attached and imagine say…Dan Didio as the editor. Practically the same thing.

Watchmen was good because of how the character the creator made that we were supposed to dislike ended up being possibly the fan favorite, eat shit Moore

>you're giving cervantes way too much credit, he wanted to make a satirical work

This is getting to fucking meta for me but are you making a deconstruction of the idea that one of the greatest works in written history and the most important literary piece of the spanish language was just some cripple who wanted a few shekels?

Don Quijote was first thought as a comedy and it took 200 years to find out the full spectrum of ideas behind the work. Part 2 was not just about giving the midle finger to a fanfic writer, it really is about human nature. By the end of part 2 it is actually Sancho who eggs Quixote on with wild and fantastic ideas, even on his deathbead, instead of the other way around.

Saying this is a serialized work is anachronistic - you are applying XXIst century mindset that should not belong.

Batman doom is a pretty kickass and complex mod for doom released in the late 90s that's definitely worth playing. Might not work properly depending on which source port you're using or if you're using vanilla doom. Thankfully patches have been released over the years.

I think some of you might already know this, but City of Heroes still had a single private server running that was in the hands of some control freak, he's since decided to release the source code after everyone started hounding him.

Welcome to Friday, not Monday, not Tuesday, and sure as hell not Wednesday. Wednesday is kind of an asshole.

And with Friday comes MOVIE TIME WITH TWO JERKS.

And those two jerks live here:

Choose any of the following movies:

The Gumby Movie

Astro Boy

Mad Monster Party????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

You can grow some chest hair and choose the Box.

The Yaki Box smells like… Okay I'm going to break character here. I've tapped into something too horrifying and hellish to unleash. I've finally done it, and I finally feel the cloying, suffocating grip of the emotion called guilt. I am not being facetious. I am not being ironic in hopes that you'll be fooled. I am the person fleeing from the monster, and warning you and your family to run in the other direction while I distract it in hopes of saving you from a bloody, hideous, undeserved death. There are devices and methods in lone Serbian torture gulags that would not even come close to touching this.. thing. This is not meant to be seen. It is clear that some method of black magic was employed in the conception of this, and no moral, upstanding person stopped it from being unleashed into the world. That is what this is. A pure lump of concentrated awful. Do not be fooled. This is not a load that can be shared, Samwise. This is not a game. This is not a joke. This is a solemn warning.

The Ted Box is a good educational movie about a good person and is a good movie compared to Yaki's

In Marvel, Gurihiru are the best artist team consistently working on interiors. Unfortunately, they are currently saddled with art duties for Unbeatable Wasp relaunch.

Tradd Moore is pretty good, but he seems to be Cho's replacement as the cover artist who sometimes does interiors to lure people in. Just like Cho, he will likely do less and less interiors as the time goes on. Moore is also getting a bit too extreme with his artstyle lately if New World is anything to go by. It slowly starts to look like western knockoff or Keisuke Itagaki's style.

DC has Sean Gordon Murphy. He is very good overall, but sometimes cuts corners and gets sloppy. Still, he is the best American comic book artist currently working when it comes to drawing cars, bikes, and other machinery. There is also Sean Williams, who is capable of some high quality artwork, but his layout experiments sometimes turn out mixed results. Other than that, DC has some competent people, but no one outstanding. Generally, it is easier to find competent art in a DC book than a Marvel one.

There are quite a few competent people drawing non-big two comics. However, the last person to be truly impressive was Jason Stokoe. I am not too up to date on more recent indie books, since I have less time to read comics nowadays, and prefer European stuff followed by manga.

The thing I hate the most about this show is it trivializes depression and everyone who watches it thinks its some like funny ironic cool thing to be depressed.

Most people who think they have depression are just mildy unhappy with their life choices. More importantly, they're usually just in a depressing situation and unaware that their environment is giving them all of this anxiety and sadness. STEM majors.

Real depression is fucking being unable to move. Having shit to do that you want to do and being unable to just put the effort in ans fucking do it. It's not being "sad", everyone fucking gets sad, it's a part of life. It's not melodramatic with panic attacks or cutting or suicidal thoughts the last one is just par for the course in clown world. Actual depression fucking debilitates you. I was a smart kid, I skipped twk grades and you know what happened to me? Halfway through college I just fucking gave up. I was an academics GOD and when it hit me I couldn't even write a fucking 600 word essay twice a week. I failed everything, and then the failures just stopped hurting and I stopped feeling ashamed. You know that sense of dread you feel when you miss a deadline on something important, imagine if you never felt that again in your life. Sounds good, huh? You think that until you realize that for years the only thing moving you forward was your fear of failure.

fuck pressed post goddamn

You just have shit to do, and it seems to fucking easy, and you just don't do it. It's not like you don't care, or don't want to, or can't. You just don't do it. And there's no excuses. You let all of this shit just slip away from you, and you try to explain this to somebody and they just think you're some lazy faggot because they think depression is just like a TV drama.

If you can still reliably get up in the goddamn morning and go to work, go to school, or do whatever chores you have to do, you're not goddam depressed in my book. You may be stressed, or sad, or whatever, but you aren't depressed. You're still a functional human being, you aren't broken yet. So just shut the fuck up and get back to work, because I won't.

I just feel disappointed when they did the "It gets easier" final of a season just not to follow that, to have Bojack finally redeem himself.

Normalniggers are unable to deal with regret and poor choices. People worshiping Bojack as "relate-able" are proof of that.

Didnt see anything in catalog. Let's have a comic creator resource thread. Writers, artist, inker, letterer, colorist, or any questions pertaining to creating and publishing your work.

Marvel - https://www.marvel.com/help/category/17/topic/30 - does not accept portfolios anymore. You need to know someone to get hired now.

DC - https://www.dccomicstalentworkshop.com/artists-workshop/how-to-apply/ - they have a workshop set of courses every year (or have been lately) that you can submit work and portfolios towards admission. This can lead to work and showcases, like the New Talent Showcase 2018 issue ( https://www.dccomics.com/comics/new-talent-showcase-2016/new-talent-showcase-2018-1 ).

Image Comics - https://imagecomics.com/submissions - Accepts Artists: We accept inking, pencilling, lettering, or coloring samples. Writers: We accept proposals only. Clique group. Without a name, youll find trouble getting support from Image. Knowing someone is best way to get there and having previous work or status (novels, film, etc). Not the 'indy haven' it used to be.

https://jasonthibault.com/definitive-list-comic-publisher-submission-guidelines/ - this is a longer list of publisher and guidelines updated for 2018 standards.

Crowd funding is a great way to get funds, but also entirely name based and getting info out there. Need twitter and other media. Youtube channel is very good if artist for basic livestream drawing sessions or critiques, helping improve art of followers, etc. Jim Lee has a good channel for this. Ethan van Sciver used to do insider talks on his Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

Ah I remember that one. I'm kinda curious as how you would do surreal humor. I guess it tends to look like random stuff but there's more to it than that right?

My take on it is that you need to lead somebodies expectations in one direction but at the right moment you have to shatter those expectations in a comedic way. You have to let people think they know what’s going to happen but quickly do something to surprise them then make them laugh not only at themselves and their expectations, but also how rediculous the thing in front of them is.

>Actual Nazis

>We had a treasure and I hate that we've toned down animation enough that this stuff isn't happening anymore.

Colonel Frankenheimer in that one episode didn't have any swastikas and had it substituted with the iron cross, which is pretty typical for when you want a character to be shown to be a nazi and don't want to or can't use the swastika. They could still make a nazi character in 2019, it's more to worry if they will try to shove in donald trump references and whatever else the left wants you to think is nazism.

>The bus comic strips were first published in 1978 in Heavy Metal magazine, where they appeared regularly for seven years. From the simple, mundane premise of a man waiting for his bus, the strips quickly slip into a weird yet hilarious world where cities are surreal labyrinths and bewilderment is just around the corner. Six to eight wordless panels is often all it takes Kirchner to display his sense for the bizarre. In the bus, fire hydrants come alive, buses chose to stray away from the law, the distant horizon might be just an arm's length away and the whole world might just turn out to be a two-dimensional panel messing with our sense of depth. More bizarre yet, in 25 years since its original publication in the USA by Ballantine Books in 1987, the bus had never been republished. This new edition contains the entire collection of strips drawn by Paul Kirchner, including a dozen previously unreleased. It also includes a new postscript and a new cover drawing by Paul Kirchner.

I wasn't going to say anything but now that you mention it him bumping the thread was pointless due to it already being over, there's nothing left to discuss about the Bus.

There's another book of completely new The Bus comics.
