Animals as Leaders

I listened to their entire first album and it was meh.

Extremely talented bassist, was to Metallica's bass what Brian Johnson was to AC/DC's vocals, and saved the band from almost certain doom. They repaid him by basically muting his channel on AJFA, forcing him to live in Cliff Burton's shadow the whole 15 years he spent with the band, and had James Hetfield shit on his passion project until he left out of frustration.

File: 1af45b2a01eeaee⋯.jpg (20.34 KB, 300x263, 300:263, 28127_10150181799500291_28….jpg)

One of my favorite musicians, and was just as, if not more, important to the unique sound of Wall of Voodoo as Stan Ridgway's vocals, but Stan usually gets all the credit (Toddintheshadows probably didn't help much either, he doesn't even name another member in the band in his retrospective). He had a very stiff vocal delivery but the few songs he provided vocals to with his Department of Crooks band showed some promise. He didn't go full solo until shortly before his death, and by that time he was suffering from liver failure, he had a bad drinking problem that Concrete Blonde's "Joey" was actually written about (could have put that in your video, Todd). I think he could have done better things if Stan hadn't gotten all the credit, and if the albums with their second singer had been successful I think they would have lasted longer as a band.

Fun Fact: In his posthumous album's liner notes, Stan is the only former WoV member that does not receive a "Special Thanks", I found that rather sad.

this is some hardcore retard shit i'm reading, an unread ape such as yourself clearly wouldn't be understanding of idiolect. u fkin dum dum.

Genghis Tron's work is probably the peak of cybergrind, but the manic energy that really drove their work were always kneecapped by slower tracks that lacked tension, texture, or variety. It's a shame, because it's such an interesting genre mix that no one else really seems interested in furthering.

What do you think of Marilyn Manson?

4 posts omitted. Click reply to view.

30 years is a stretch. I doubt he'll be around in 5-10 years.

Also, he has Johnny Depp and Norman Reedus.

The Pale Emperor was kino though and KILL4ME and WE KNOW WHERE YOU FUCKING LIVE are good songs.

wheres my cover album at?

I don't like his music but I admire that he has style and isn't afraid to show it.

I don't anymore, since he bitched out after Columbine.

>Johnny Depp

Not a fan of Manson really. I was going to make a remark how he took Rozz Williams and Alice Cooper's schtick, but it's kind of funny that Depp was/is friends with all 3 of them. Maybe he sees something I don't.

Big fan of John 5 though.

iirc SoP was written for Control Denied but Nuclear Blast was owed another Death album so they released it under that name. Chuck was done with death metal after Symbolic.

Are you implying that "The Sound of Perseverance" is as bad as "Control Denied"? Try to listen to it again, it's metal and it's not that bad, just inferior to the others (the boiled cat vocals didn't help).

Ashamed to say I didn't discover them until later after Chuck was gone. Grew up listening to a lot of metal/started playing guitar in the 90s, but I was caught up in old stuff.

I'm just saying it wasn't conceived as a Death album.

Control Denied was metal, too, just not DM.

She Works Out Too Much is the best song on this

My favorite is Me and Michael probably but She Works Out Too Much is probably 2nd or 3rd

Me and Michael drags on too long. Honestly I wish i liked this album more cause the production is perfect but it hits it's peak with She Works out too much and it's all downhill from there

Little Dark Age is great too

Post your Wikipedia Chart here, and show me the bands that you think have had the most interesting changes in memberships over the years.

>Mine is Guns 'N Roses

Why is it interesting?

File: 84506e71b61dbca⋯.jpg (48.02 KB, 650x461, 650:461, dc3f94d38ffe4c124dcd28e6b6….jpg)

Guns 'n Roses had so many great former band members, you could make a memorial out of all of their contributions, how they shaped it up, and why Axl Rose is two Thorns in the Ass to work with. Every one of them has something to say about how much they hate him and why they couldn't take any more crap from him a that particular breaking point.

It was called Guns 'n Roses because Tracii Guns (the guy before Slash) was supposed to be the Guitar Solo we all know and love after he merged his band LA Guns with Hollywood Rose. But in his words:

>That fight stemmed from a girl named Michelle Young not being put on a guest list at three in the afternoon before even sound check, and we did two shows after that argument and then I left. It just wasn't fun anymore. I was probably 19 then and I thought Great band, and I love these guys, but they're not worth the headaches.' Even at that age I didn't want to deal with it.

When you know Rose is an asshole even before you lay a foundation with him, you're wise enough to understand that house is not worth building…

Let me lay out some of the other ones:

>My decision to leave the band was not based on artistic differences with Axl Rose, but on Rose's constant lateness to concerts, the manipulation he used to gain control of the band; and the departures of two of my good mates (Steve and Izzy).

Steven Adler:

>"I was told that every time I did heroin, the band (Axl) would fine me $2,000. … What these contracts actually said was that the band were paying me $2,000 to leave. They (Axl) were taking my royalties, all my writing credits. They (Axl) didn't like me any more and just wanted me gone.

Izzy Stradlin:

"Since Steve left, it was… yeah, a big musical difference. They were written with Steve playing the drums and his sense of swing was the push and pPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

P.S. I nearly forgot Duff McKagan:

>"Guns had been paying rent on studios for three years now (from 1994 to 1997) and still did not have a single song. The whole operation was so erratic that it didn't seem to fit with my hopes for parenthood, for stability. That bit of magic was long gone, and I led myself to believe it could get better, that I wasn't wasting time, but it didn't, and I was. It just hasn't been the same since Rose drove everyone away."

More sad than interesting, but Slipknot's lineup since its formation.

Jefferson Airplane -> Jefferson Starship -> Starship

By lineage alone, the same band that gave us "White Rabbit" also gave us "We Built This City", despite the fact that none of the members were the same.

Mine is Inferno.

Easily Overkill. No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith would be a second if you're counting live albums. The albums after Mikkey Dee joined really don't do much for me at all.

Overkill is hands down their best album.
