I don't even know what EBM is since I'm more a metal than electronic music guy, but just yesterday, I found something very good with this qualifier called Ice Ages.

What's some good Rammstein-type music that's not so degenerate? I loved the sound of Reise, Reise and Sonne, and Feuer Frei would be great also if Sabaton's Joakim Brodén was doing vocals.

There are plenty of bands that play in this style, but the first couple that come to mind are Megaherz and Eisbrecher.

Oomph, Schweisser, Rinderwahnsinn, Atrocity, Weissglut, Fleischmann…although Weissglut sounds more like Type O Negative.

At least there's no self-indulgent waste track as was the custom on the past 3 albums (Los/Ein Lied/Rammlied).

 No.101161

Agreed. Good lyrics are just a cherry on top.

 No.101192

Depends on the artist. I don't think someone like Aesop Rock would be nearly as prolific if it wasn't for his dense lyricism and wordplay.

 No.101225

how about the opposite, where the lyrics blow so much that the music becomes unlistenable?

George Clanton - Slide

Anyone listened to this? If so can you recommend some similar artists?

 No.100515

>>100484

Yes, Clanton is good shit. He's blowing up a lot lately, and he deserves it. Been a fan since the first ESPRIT stuff and ordered 100% Electronica the day it came out (about as solid an album, just in different ways). Seen him a couple times too and used to chat occasionally, but now he's bigtime and even melonhead reviewed this album.

I don't know what I could say sounds similar, honestly. But his girlfriend, Negative Gemini, does stuff you might like too.

I really enjoy Songs: Ohia! Molina's lyrics and vocals give me chills pretty consistently. It's good to see someone here mention him.

Magnolia Electric Co. is my favorite album by him, but I admittedly haven't given the whole discography a good listen yet.

Not really my thing I prefer neofolk

 No.101038

Came here to see if /mu/ had an alt-country thread, and found my favorite band.

Jason Molina probably is the biggest pivot point to my music tastes and his death really fucked me up for a while. To those curios: [Songs, Ohia], [Magnolia Electric Co.], and [Jason Molina] were all the different names he went by. Some top tier lyrics, but he's a fairly dark writer, and the pace is much slower than what most listeners are probably used to.

Got any other alt-country bands friends? Been out of the loop for quite a while, and am hoping to get some new albums.
