I might ride the lost coast this upcoming weekend but I should probably get some dual sport boots first.

I'd like to participate in this tread, but I ride my bike maybe once a week these days, it's a really shitty cold and wet summer.

Take a motorcycle safety class and get your license. From there you should get some protective gear and start the purchase process. The tried and true cheap bike for beginners is the Ninja 250. You really cant go with that. From there you'll be able to learn what type of riding you enjoy the most and make your next bike purchase off of that info.

*You really can't go wrong with the Ninja*

To continue, just remember that your first bike doesn't have to be your last. I started out with a shitty bike and learned that I most enjoyed riding all day across the state so I purchased a bike for that. You might think you want to do a certain type of riding but soon find out that's not what ypu enjoy so it's ideal to spend as little as you can for a running first bike.

Post bike anyways. I don't ride much in the summer because of all the tourists on the good roads. I'm really fortunate I can ride year round.

Hey bike fags…

So ive been thinking of getting a bike. I rode trial bikes all my childhood to school in italy and guatemala so i have some experience, but of course the us is a shithole for any type of driving so its probably worthless…

Anyone ever DD a trial or dual purpose bike on the highways? Ive been thinking of getting something like a honda xr or similar in the 450 range or bigger?

How many miles can you squeeze out on the highway? Any issues with car/trucks zipping pass you and the air pushiing you off?

What do you bike do you recommend for DD work/ beach time?

Also what are your thoughts on using a ktm 450 sxf on the road?

I've ridden quite a few dual sports on the street with no problems whatsoever. It's better to go with a bigger one like an XR650 but the 350s and 400s are also fine but not as good on the highway. As for the highway, you'll be fine if you have 80/20 tires but if you use knobby 50/50s you will have vibrations at high speed. You can just go a little slower and be fine. Really any Japanese DS will be good for DD/beach. I'd stay far away from that KTMthough. Pure dirt bikes need maintenance frequently if you put lots of street miles on them. You'll probably be a lot happier with a reliable DS.

I'm looking into getting an affordable bike, I currently drive a Jeep that gets craptastic mileage, and I'd like to get a bike for day-to-day commute.

I was looking into the Suzuki tu250x, would this be a good beginner/commute bike? Pic related. Keep in mind I've never biked before.

That bike will do fine for what you want to do. Make sure you post pictures when you get it.

Thanks, I wouldn't be getting it that soon, probably in a year depending on where life takes me.

Looking to get into bikes. Don't really like the really sporty ones.

Was looking at this Honda CL175 in really good condition. How much should I pay for such a bike?
