New Roadkill ft. Gas Monkey Garage
>six or so episodes ago: "oh, we got to meet the guys from gas monkey garage, they're so cool haha we love you guys and your show you keep it real"
>turns out that they're a bunch of cheating, nasty, poser fucks who are pampered by televisionbux like the rest
At least my dislike is finally justified.
Also, so many free Dȯdge motors and cars everywhere, my god. I'm starting to feel that no other manufacturer is really as committed to average car culture.
What /o/ related projects do you want to pursue before you die. Some of mine off the top of my head:
>HEMI swap on a Dodge Dart, preferably a 4-door for sleeper status
>import a kei car/truck and swap the engine for one from a >950cc motorcycle
>tuned up wagon, which could be either an imported Stagea, an Outback, or most Volvo wagons
>restore pretty much any classic Japanese motorcycle other than a cruiser because I don't like cruisers
>restore an old Jeep (CJ or older)
>supercharger+turbo on either an AWD beater and take it rallycrossing OR on a RWD beater and take it drifting
>buy my carfu (twin turbo Nissan 300zx z32) and leave it mostly stock save for better tires, brakes, suspension and differential
Mocking Each Other's Poor Choices
I can't seem to find the thread where we post recent purchases and then collectively laugh at our shitty judgement.
Just bought a '97 Grand Prix GTP because I got a good deal on the price and the only other thing I could afford was a mechanic's special.
I give it 8 months before no single electrical component inside the car works any longer.
How about you, /o/? What black holes of money have you recently saddled yourselves with?
YOU HAVE BEEN VISITED BY THE IGGY AZALEA OF DEAD BOARDS
She's so fancy, with her perfect Aussie accent while speaking, and her perfect Black American accent while singing. She has the big booty of a black girl, but the beautiful pure skin of a white girl. She is the yin yang, who is truly black and white in perfect unity.
By seeing this message, good luck and prosperity will come to you, but only if you accept that:
>This board now belongs to Iggy Azalea and merely exists to discuss her and her alone
>Forget who you worshiped before, you worship Iggy now, she will be your sole goddess for infinity. If you have doubts, listen to her song Goddess and understand
>You must praise her in all things. Listen to all her music and only her music. Understand that your worthless life belongs to Iggy Azalea now
Thank you, and may Iggy bless us all.
Stick shift and used cars
I would like to learn and get a manual car. Any tips on it? Nobody I know owns a manual car so I can't learn on a friends car. I'd be scared to test drive someones car without really knowing what I'm doing since I've only drove stick in video games or in an arcade The big downside is that I live in lower NY and the traffic is a real pain in the ass.
Realistically 'd be looking for something like a older WRX that can put a little work into.
I was told that buying a used one might be hard to find that didn't have the shit kicked out of it.
Good cars that are ugly
Post examples of cars that, while ugly, are otherwise pretty good
>Nissan Juke
>good handling AWD
>short wheelbase
>loud 200hp turbocharged 4-banger engine
>even came out with a limited run NISMO version that made ~550hp
>all practically ruined by those fucking headlights and body lines
Honda Civic Hate Thread.
Why do people even talk about Honda Civics like they're God's gift to the automotive world.
i can think of better alternatives to this poster boy of rice.
the Mazda 3 for example, because best compact car, the VW GTI and even obscure examples like the first gen Corolla Matrix XRS.
You gonna get triggered
Post your absolutely blasphemous ideas related to cars.
I have a few.
For one, I'd like to throw a 2JZ into a model A Ford.
I don't know why, but I think it would be absolutely beautiful. All that power in a straight six slapped in a car that's 80 years old.
I'd also like to take a skyline don't really care what gen because I like them all and throw an American V8 behind the AWD drivetrain. Throw a turbo on it and it would be absolutely nuts.
I want to hear some fucking nutty ideas. Preferably those that make my blood boil initially, but eventually make me want to build one.
P/S leak randomly stopped?
I've had a pretty bad power steering leak for the past half year or so, to the point that I was having to add fluid every day. Over the last couple weeks, it seemed to get slower and slower, until a couple days ago when I stopped having to add fluid and the spots in the driveway disappeared.
Is this something that just happens? Did the "stop-leak" in the new power steering fluid actually work? Is Jesus blessing me for quitting porn?
Dumbass Faggot has a question
Hey /o/
I'm not very auto-inclined. I got a '99 Suburban from my uncle, and it had this module under the steering wheel.
Looks kinda like some sort of aftermarket cruise control, but I don't really know for sure. It has a button on the right side, and a turning knob on the left. Google has completely failed me, so I was hoping you guys could tell me.
Once I get my answer, I'll delete the thread, since I hate asking newfag questions
Non-Auto Transportation Containment Thread
Since we don't have an equivalent to half/n/, this board is probably the next-best place to have this kind of thread. And before you delete this, mods, consider that if you do, the only space on 8chan to shitpost about "trains, planes, ships, bicycles, [and] flying elevators" will be the plane fetish thread on /clang/. As a possible bonus, you may get marginally more traffic until someone makes a viable alternative to half/n/.
Anyway, just post here what half/n/ posts without whatever cuckoldry they may be infected with.
To start off with, I'm flying pic related next month to Orlando with family. I'm a 5' 7'' and 130 lb manlet with a smaller mom and sister dad's working that week, we checked the carry-on expenses ahead of time to make sure this really was the cheapest flight that doesn't involve a six-hour drive to DFW or Love, and we're all fine with no complimentary anything. Would we do fine, or are we still fucked beyond comprehension?
Ethical Auto Journalism
Jalopnik is terrible for more reasons than simply being a Gawker publication; corporate shillery, pay-ola, constant self promotion and promotion of associates, and constant apologism for all the cancers of the car hobby are only a few reasons why you should not be giving them and other websites your clicks.
In this thread we list alternative publications to Jalopnik/Autoblog and other shitty blogs.
For analysis of the industry, the latest press releases, car reviews, technical and financial information, The Truth About Cars (ttac.com) is hard to beat.
For your retro and interesting cars fix, Curbside Classic (curbsideclassic.com) is a very good website for browsing.
Ate Up With Motor (ateupwithmotor.com) is a great website for histories of a company, a model, or a technical feature.
Hemmings Motor News (hemmings.com) is a good classfieds website, but they often have neat articles and period photos as well as links to interesting articles about the hobby on other websites.
Have other suggestions? Lets hear them!
If we don't pick good media in the car hobby, the vast majority of sheep are just going to read garbage, and make
>pic related
even more a reality.
Driving protip
MFW driving the first time with my working gloves that have a lot of grip.
It's like the duct tape Deathmatch from ID.
You have to be really careful about your hand positions because you can't slide your hand around to correct small mistakes of hand placement on the steering wheel or the shifting knob. Only replacing your hand completely will do.
It's really hard but it will also make you a better driver - you'll learn to place your hands very precisely and thus operate your car like a samurai wielding his sword.
Try it out, make sure that the gloves have a lot of grip though, so I advise some with rubber coating on the palm. Ideally those warehouse worker or furniture carrying ones, because they're made for grip.
Unpopular /o/pinions thread
Every other board gets one, so we might as well have an unpopular opinions thread of our own. Some of the ones I have
>I don't understand the appeal of cars/engines that have a "peaky power band" or setups with lots of turbo lag. Why the hell would you want to WAIT until you have gone through 70% of your revs before you get any significant power?
>I think twin charging, when done right, is currently the best way to gain more power out of an engine and that it should be utilized more. twin charging>twin turbo>supercharging>NA>one small turbo>shit>one giant turbo with massive turbo lag. Also, it has dat amazing sound when done right (embed related)
>AWD>RWD, though FWD is still my least favorite and my favorite car is still RWD oddly enough
>the only Ferrari cars I like are the 312t and F40
>my favorite engine configuration is V10
>Despite what I have seen others claim, both inside and outside /o/, the absolute biggest "poser sports car" is the Toyota Celica (and Scion tc since they're basically the same car) with an automatic transmission. At least Civic-fags actually mod their cars even if most of the mods are only aesthetic, and mustangs are still RWD
>even though I'm usually a massive classics-fag when it comes to cars, I unironically think that Lambo has been better during the last 10 years or so than they have at any other point in their history
>I'm not a fan of the Camaro inb4 "muh turd-gens"
>My second favorite car manufacturer is that one that the board owner put a filter on because he's a faggot. Yes they are retarded a lot of the time, but at least they haven't started half-assing the auto enthusiast market like other companies have *cough* Mitsubishi *cough*. The Dart is my dream DD
>LS swaps are supremely overdone, especially on small japanese sports cars. If you want a Corvette C5, then buy a fucking Corvette C5! Please leave the RX7/8, 240sx and 300zx alone, as its already hard enough finding ones with original engines that still work and haven't been fucked with.
Any alternatives to dato delmar automotive training online?
Hey guys. Are there any alternatives to DATO, Delmar automotive training online, that you guys know of? I bought a set of DATo access passes a few years ago when you could get the whole set for a bargain, but now it's insanely expensive. I'm just curious to find out if there are alternatives out there.
Car buying advice
Hey /o/
I've got a Tesla SP85D and I'm really happy with it - especially in the sense of driving assistance and autonomy it's really fun. The only thing I don't like about it is its limited range - so I wanted to ask you if you knew luxury cars, preferrably SUVs that are roughly on the same level, technologically. The budget would be anything up to 400k - what do you think?
Comfy driving
Propose to me your ideal driving situation for the purposes of feeling comfy/relaxed. Be as detailed as possible, but at the very least include what you're driving, where you're driving (either an area of the world or even a specific road if you can), what the weather is like and what time of day it is. For example
>BMW E30 M3 w/ manual transmission
>taking the main road west out of Denver, CO up into the Rocky Mountains up to a sleepy hotel buried away in the mountains
>really early in the morning so that the sunrise comes when I'm roughly halfway to my destination
>timed so that the snow is just starting to fall as I drive but not driving so long that it becomes majorly thick on the road
>pipping hot mug of Apple Cider in the cup holder
>tfw you moved away from Colorado before you were close to driving age
A pair of pigeons MIGHT HAVE nested in this guy's balcony, and he MIGHT HAVE set up a raspberry pi with a camera to livestream the whole ordeal.
MIGHT HAVE been kind of cool, thought /tech/ MIGHT HAVE liked it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NZvxfixFQ8
Turbine Engine Cars
>Could use any fuel as long as it combusts, jet fuel, alcohol, biodiesel.etc
>Less moving parts/simpler design
>Remarkably efficient for its time
>no antifreeze
>no need for oil changes
>Chrysler's even ran silent with cooled exhaust
Tell me why we don't have more of these?
If not for the consumer car market; I can easily see turbine engines replacing conventional diesel engines in large trucks and buses, considering their remarkable power-to-weight ratio. Why can't we have nice things guys?
Anyone offer predictions for this tremendous shitshow yet?
>First episode gets viewing figures in the millions, similar to the old series but slightly reduced
>Second episode loses a couple million
>By the fifth episode it'll be one of the lowest ranking shows of the week
>Nonetheless, BBC decide to renew it for Season 2
>S2 gets pitifully low view ratings. The only people watching it at this point are Gawker's readerbase, the Daily Mail's readerbase, SJWs (implying they aren't one and the same), and the families of those involved in producing it.
>Show gets canned halfway into S2
>BBC use this as an excuse to say "See!? Nobody wants to watch Top Gear anymore! You should have listened to us to begin with!"
The illegal sharing aspect of this program's gonna be hilarious though. I know for a fact people are going to dismiss whatever name Clarkson, Hammond and May are going to pick for their show and will start using "Top Gear S23" to describe it, both on Youtube and torrenting, as well as fan sites. Cue butthurt femishits.
Stupid fixes you should have known to try but easily overlooked
I doubt any of you remember but I posted a thread a while back about how I had an S10 that I put a new fuel pump in but it wouldn't start.
I finally figured it out. The ground to the fuel pump was bad. I grounded it to the frame and the fuel pump kicked on, and it runs great. Need to fix a few things still, but actually getting it running feels great.
It basically looks like pic related, except it has a chrome grill and different wheels.
Any simple fixes like this that you guys overlooked because it was just too goddamn obvious?
Pull to the right for sirens and lights
Hey /o/, been driving for a little over a year now and I was just curios. Everyone knows that whenever you see an emergency vehicle approaching from behind that you must pull all the way over to the right. But I was wondering, what if you're stuck in the far-left turn lane ready to make a left turn/U-turn? This happened to me the other day and there was like 5 lanes of traffic I had to clear over on my right so I just stayed put because I didn't want to cut the emergency vehicle off. What the fuck would you do in this situation?
Pareidolia
Are there any car guys here that don't see faces in cars?
I see faces in cars, and I actually stray away from buying cars if I don't like their face.
This W-body looks like it's smug as fuck.
The cherokee looks like some mad asian guy.
This Mark 8 Terminator Bumper looks like an also mad asian guy.
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class from Skip Barber, and I’ve been involved in numerous SCCA races, and I have over 300 confirmed first place finishes. I am trained in trail braking and I’m the top auto crosser in the entire US. You are nothing to me but just another cone. I will pit maneuver you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this track, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me during the drivers meeting? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of automotive journalist across the USA and your license plate is being traced right now so you better prepare for the pit maneuver, maggot. The pit maneuver that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your MX-5. You’re fucking last place, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can pass you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my daily driver. Not only am I extensively trained in drafting, but I have access to the entire performance parts catalog of every United States manufacturer and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable car off the face of the track, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking DNF, kiddo.
Good Subaru or car related forums?
Are there any car/Subaru forums left that are
>not cancer
>don't have modfaggotry
>everything a chanfag hates
Fucking mod of a Dutch Subaru forum said I shouldn't quote posts too much, now that's what I call autism modfaggotry!
How's NASIOC? First glance it looks shit because "register and you don't see any ads!" stuff (I have ABE, tho)
Pic partially related, it's my fav Soeb.
Hi /o/ I bought a new exhaust for a motorcycle, but it came with a matt black finish that feels a bit powdery. Does this need to be painted before installation so it doesn't rust or is this normal? I don't know anything about painting auto parts, dunno if this is just primer or what

QTDDTOT: Why-Isn't-There-Already-One Edition
Doing my plugs and wires soon. I've got pre-gapped Bosch Iridium spark plugs, and the gap on the box is the correct gap for my engine. I'd like to just put them in as-is without messing with the gap, since the electrode is so easy to damage, and because I'm pretty sure I've screwed up a couple iridium plugs before by gapping them. The thing is, 90% of "pre-gapped" plugs I've checked in the past were set at the wrong gap (and were not even consistent in how far off they were).
So which is riskier? Messing with the gap to make sure it's right, or leaving them alone and potentially using the wrong gap?
These things
They have one flaw:
Light output is good, color is good and the leds are placed well enough that they don't fuck with the optics of the reflector (as long as the bulb is centrally mounted in said reflector).
But their main problem is that the top is designed like a heat sink that (theorically) would be there to cool a load resistor, they do not have such resistors, and thus hyper flash like a burnt bulb when used in an indicator lamp.
A terrible, wasted opportunity IMO.
>Be Chrysler
>Decide it's a good idea use the little relays with 1/2 pins
>Decide to install the relay box low in the front bumper where it gets pelted by road salt
These have been getting more and more frequent on MK cars, and it's always the same wire on the same relay. And it couldn't just be something accessory like I dunno, the AC clutch relay, it's the fucking Main/ASD Relay.
This one, corroded enough that the pin broke off and I had to dig the green stuff out of the relay block and replace the terminal, was a 2012. Yes, It took only 4 years.
MK owners, do yourselves a favor and go buy a tube of dielectric grease and go to town on that relay box. It's the one behind the left fog light, the ASD is the relay that's at the back left, where the wire harness enters the block, get to it easily by removing the fender liner.
Earth Killers get out
So last year I let my license expire, I didn't even bother renewing it. I had this sudden realization come over me, I didn't need to drive, I was a NEET loser with nothing to prove to anyone, so I sold my grandpas 95 Dodge Caravan (he gave it to me last year before he died) and got myself a beach cruser instead! One year later, I'm /fit/ have a gf, no longer have to deal with the DMV, and best of all, I don't operate a massive smog machine polluting the environment!
Why does anyone drive in 2016 anyways? You can just get everything online mailed to you. And it's better to work local!
If you were smart you'd join me, but you're not, you're just a bunch of mindless gearheads!
Going out with my riding buddies, Taking the main street down to the beach, and since I'm on a bike, you car losers have to yeild for my right-of way! K? Peace out faglords!
What do you guys do for a career?
I am a uni graduate with a degree in computer science, and I'm torn between two career options.
1) go work for some schmuck as a software dev and earn decent money, moving onto big money later on
2) earn qualifications as a mechanic and work in a garage, move up to manager etc
on one side of the coin, I will be earning enough money to fuel my expensive hobby
on the other, I will be working with cars and will learn to work on cars and engines professionally.
Mercedes Immobilizer
I bought a beater '96 E320 for salvage price but it doesn't have the key fob. I get the flashing red/green led on the mirror and would like to avoid dragging the thing over to the dealership to pay $300 for a new key. Anonyone know how to bypass a DAS2 system?
Female muscle car drivers
I don't get it, /o/. Two out of every three muscle car drivers I see are women. This makes no sense on multiple levels:
>Women don't typically find enjoyment in driving the same way men do and would have less reason to drive a high-performance car
>Women don't typically have the high-paying jobs required to afford cars like that
>Fun cars are the first things that married women make their husbands give up, so a male owner is unlikely
I don't understand it. How/why are there so many?
How long until the big push to make car culture a "safe space for women"?
I am looking to finally get out of my shitbox and into a good car. Want most bang for the buck so used is fine. I need suggestions on the fastest, baddest, most hairpin turn ready thing I can get. My budget is 21k, but im ready to sell my soul to the kikes for up to 25k if required.
Requisites:
Must be RWD or AWD
Must have Manual trans
No 4 bangers
Preferably something American and easy to work on, poorfag so can't take on expensive euro maintenance.
Been looking at pic related, vettes, some mustangs, but want advice, thanks
Help me /o/.
I've got my license one year ago, and have been driving pic related for this time. (1989, got it at 99.000km, it was my grandpa's. 769cc)
I want something with a sportive vibe to it, better if from Japan, since I'm liking their designs a lot.
I'm from Italy
Budget is 6/7k€
I'm actually looking at a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX for € 7.300 which is pretty dope
Alright, I want to start riding a motorcycle /o/, I know this board is slow as fuck but I'll post.
Im going to be riding to school only, or buy groceries, I dont go out much and really want to ride during the summer. When It gets winter or its just too oold, i'll drive a car.
I had in mind a DualSport bikes, I like the design and they are pretty cheap, is craiglist the best way to buy a bike? Or just go to your local dealer? I like the pic related looks, but need something easy to ride.
I also was wondering about protection, since I live in the south, It gets pretty warm/hot during the summer/spring.
This was the jacket I was going to buy:
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/icon-1000-basehawk-jacket
I dont like jackets, and prefer hoodies but since its the summer im gonna need airflow.
I can always add more protection and change the pads right? Also do i need a back protector?
I was going to get this too aswell for my neck, it also comes with a chest protection and its reusable if it doesnt break:
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/spidi-neck-dps-airbag-vest
Are there any better ones that this? Or I dont really need this?
I only wear shorts, so I was going to buy this:
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-bionic-freeride-shorts
Other than that I was just going to use tennis shoes, and regular socks.
Ofcourse I was going to wear a helmet, but I dont need to state the obvious
Can I listen to music with headphones while I ride my bike, and I use big framed glasses, would they get damaged if I just wear them in my helmet or be really uncomfortable on the daily basis? not in a event of a crash
The vest I was going to use was going to be highlight color btw so people in cars can see me. But the protective hoodie I want was just going to be plain color.
Why is it that people waste money on expensive mods for shitty cars?
Along with the riced, stanced, and ruined cars of any variety, I also often see cheap cars that have had more work done to them than they are worth. Crapped out US market versions of jap cars with an imported engine, transmission work, intercoolers, turbochargers, the whole she bang.
The first major question is why do poor people have so much money to waste on this shit? The second is why do people spend so much money on a car that is a shitty platform?
Back in the day when you could throw a big block into anything and put it on pro touring suspension, that might actually make sense to make a muscle car/gt, but today, people are putting 10 times the worth of the car into cheap front wheel drive econoboxes?
I don't hate front wheel drive, but it is an established fact that performance and ride quality are generally superior in rear wheel drive cars, especially if the car has a wider track and other features that would come with a more premium platform.
Tokyo Motor Show
I went to the Tokyo Motor Show today.
Will dump some photos.
Lots of hideous cars, Nissan's new concepts suck niggermobileey dicks, Mercedes' vision of the future involves us sitting in rolling lounges shaped like potatoes and Mazda decided that their current design ethos which is actually quite good is junk and trashed it for some poorly proportioned pieces of shit. The horror.
Trucks and motorcycle outfits were in attendance in the plenty and there were a lot of boring boxy cars as well which I didn't photograph because fuck that. Of note was the appearance of a hybrid truck drivetrain from Isuzu and some battery cell buses, so I guess we'll start to see that rolled out eventually.
Booth girls are back in, it seems, but free merchandise is dead, so we know we're not back in the middle of a financial high yet.
For starters, the Lexus LF-FC. Looks okay. I would think it's propelled by the same logic that made Dodge make a Hellcat Charger. Sometimes you, your wife and two kids must go really, really fast.
Truck general
So I've been thinking about buying a used truck as my first vehicle.
Somewhere around 2005s, later if can be, yet I don't know much about trucks.
Whats everyone's thoughts on a basic F150? I have some ideas in life that a truck would be very useful for, hence my interest.
Small trucks, big trucks, any ideas/discussion is fine.
Corvette General
When the mid-engine corvette it will probably cause boomers to have mild heart attacks.
This will make their cake faced wives panic and make them sell their dank ride and get a volt.
Thus, c8 corvettes will depreciate rapidly not because of quality but because of boomers. Or maybe they just wouldn't drive them at all and keep them in their garage.
Corvette General
make a sticky for car buying advice
Can we just have a sticky already for car buying advice? There's 4 posts on the front page basically asking "iz dis kar gud?"
There really ought to be a sticky for this because this board is slow as shit anyway, and every new thread asking for car buying advice is pushing another one off the board.
Do it, or don't, but I think it's a good idea, and others will probably agree.
>having to pay for return shipping
Anyone here every but parts from Rock Auto?
I bought a fuel pump recently, but it turned out it didn't work, so I had to go through the process of returning it for a replacement. I haven't sent it off yet, but these cocksuckers want me to pay $8 to ship it back to them.
I'm kind of pissed that I have to pay for the return shipping because they sent me a defective part.
Anyone else have an experience like this?
The only good thing about this whole ordeal is the fact that the parts were cheaper than the local auto parts store, even with the shipping.
I doubt I'll be buying from them again.
Racing Drivers
Sup dudes,
Ever see a racing driver conduct themselves outside of the race track in dick way?
Post your racing driver stories.

Are there any youtube channels that cover 4x4/AWD vehicles, perhaps not top gear levels of expensive vehicle reviews?
I'm a first time car buyer that lives in the land of potholes, bad roads, and random weather (Ohio for reference) and I want to know more about these types of vehicles as I'm saving for one.
First time car buyer bread
/o/ Are modern cars at all build for a lifetime of use like their older counterparts?
I'm debating on a 90s vehicle or a 2010+ vehicle, but it seems modern cars aren't built to last, which is ass.
Originally I wanted a 1990 Caprice classic brougham, as my mother had a caprice classic, but I'm afraid of if It'll have enough parts to last, like what am I to do if the tranny breaks?
If I went with a newer car I'd like an SUV or Wagon, I'm a traveling /p/hotographer and I imagine ion my ventures a bit of offroading might be common across America.
Sorry to be a bit everywhere with this, but as far as SUV's/Wagons (New or old) go, does /o/ have any suggestions?
Preferably under 32 grand.
I'm a traveling photographer as it stands via a bike..And I'm in Ohio, for the love of god help.
Should I buy this 400+ hp, ethanol mapped, turnkey ka24e with tranny for 4140 USD or should I turbo my own ka24de?
I know it's expensive, but it seems so easy..

Fix my AC at idle
Help me /o/
105 degrees in Nevada and my AC has decided to not want to work well at idle. Already sunk money into it at an AC shop who hasn't solved a thing.
AC is perfect while driving but when stopped it goes down to almost nothing. They verified it was charged, condenser fan is working, they seem to think everything else is fine since it is working at speed. All they thought was a bad condenser fan but changing that has done nothing. Even wired it to always run to rule it out.
What do you think?
Idea.
I am concerned that 8chan is relying on memes created by 4chan…and left on die.
There is even a board created by 8chan for a tournament. It happened already and it is called the 4chan Cup. We need something that is original. So here is my question
Should we create a championship based on GRID: Autosport and shown on Twitch to rival the 4chan Cup?
Future of the Hobby
So the G7 nations have just agreed to eliminate oil dependence by 2100.
Plus we have automated cars on the horizon already.
What does this mean for the car community?
What do you see in the future for cars?
Is the future really a desolate landscape of soulless commuter cars?
Board changes
Based on feedback A few things have changed
1: Less word filters. Only 2 remain now. People wanted them but it seems there were a outspoken minority, the majority didn't like them.
The current filters are re-ddit to leddit and do-dge to depression. These will probably cycle without notice, but only 2-3 will ever be active at a time.
2: The deleted image and spoiler images will probably stay. There hasn't been any complaints and they fit the board. If you don't like them or have better ones to use, please say.
3: I now have a 8chan email you can contact me at. It is fourwheeldorifto@8chan.co and will be in the board announcement from here on out.
I've never been so upset in my life.
I've waited two months for my driving test, having to go to a DMV in a different city because the one in mine is full.
I start driving there two hours before my appointment, finally arriving after a ~15 mile drive, going through registration, etc. I wait another half hour for everyone in front of me to do their test.
I'm finally up, already thinking of how great my license is gonna be. I go through all the preliminary stuff like hand signals and dash controls. My instructor gets in my car and tells me to start.
The battery is dead.
Gore Car Porn Thread
This is the official Gore Car Porn Thread.
Post Gore Car Porn.
Crashed cars, dissected, stance, worn parts, rust, dings, dents, flats, cumstain, anystain, bad paint jobs, unfinished paint jobs, tortured cars, dying cars etc
Bonus points for OC.
P.S. I like the Italian extrvaganza from dominos.
Just posting this to state that yes, the board has been claimed. I probably will only be leaving this here for a week or so, longer if it is needed.
In case you are wondering I'll probably be taking a very hands-off approach to moderating /o/. The board isn't huge, but it's also not tiny. When I got given the reigns there were only 2 posts that were reported. 99% of /o/ posters know what /o/ is for, and only want to post /o/ content. I like that. In its current state we don't need a nanny mod so I won't be that.
Use this thread for:
1: Asking questions about how I'll run the board
2: Banner suggestions
3: Anything else sbout this situation really
Help a dumb cunt
Hey /o/ I need some advice,
I'm seriously considering buying pic related but the issue is that it's from an online import site. Have any of you imported a car without getting a chance to see it? Was it a big mistake or is it something that seems like a bad idea but really isn't?
pic related is around 5k which includes shipping, insurance and an inspection before being loaded on the ship
So I know about the Toyota Supra, how it bascially can be a poorman's hypercar if given enough money thrown at it and is basically the be all end all for japanese rice cars.
The thing is that, given the keystone of the Supra is Toyota's 2JZ-GE motor, could all cars that have that motor (i.e. Lexus GS300, Lexus SC300, etc) have the ability to be as tuned as the Supra itself?
OIL PAN DRAIN BOLT
How the fuck do I get a seized up drain bolt out? It has bonded with the oil pan and they have become one entity since the last oil change, which must have been a long, long time ago (previous owner was a woman).
I've tried to lube up the threads spraying around the sides of the bolt, pulled several muscles, smacked it around with a hammer and a chisel.
At one point I thought I finally managed to get it moving, only to learn that what I was twisting wasn't the bolt, but the metal of my socket wrench.
I've given up on saving the bolt, but just how do i get this old piece of shit out of there?!
Questions that don't deserve a thread thread.
I have a 1991 240sx s13 (ka24de), but happen to live in a country where we only got a renamed 180sx s13 (ca18det).
I am looking to buy coilovers and wondered whether there are any differences suspension-wise between the 240sx and the 180sx chassis.
Would be a lot cheaper to order the coilovers in my own country than from the states.
>have a shitty 98 nissan with a massively off balance, practically 12 inches vertically crooked with a dented fender due to a car crash the previous Josh was in
>normalfags tell me to keep the vehicle and stop being such a pussy
>one normalfag know it all is calling me ignorant
Normally I'd agree except last year I was in a car crash and now have serious stenosis. Via some miracle however the nerves being pinched do not hurt me, nor are they malfunctioning enough to make me a hotwheels tier cripple.
Am I being a complete pussy or are my fears valid?
Buying a Miata
I'm looking to get a miata (preferably the NA/gen 1) after driving one at a car meet and falling in love with it. Probably to use as a summer daily and a bit of fun on the side.
Any things I should especially watch out for when buying one? Like problem years/high wear points/shitty mods? I know to check for rust/salt damage to make sure it was definitely a summer car previously.
Starting out
So, I have always been interested in cars but I do not know where to start. I recently got a v6 2011 accord which, even though it is fwd, is pretty fun to drive. I was wondering what I could do to increase performance in the sense of power. I don't have enough money to put a turbo or a super charger in it, but what all could I do to help increase power while keeping it naturally aspirated?BMW 535is UK
Alright /o/- it's…
