Let's talk tents. Go ahead and talk about any other gear too, since the board is so slow. I'm currently trying to decide between the Tarptent Squall 2 (http://www.tarptent.com/squall2.html) and Rainshadow 2 (http://www.tarptent.com/rainshadow2t.html), thoughts?

fucking casual, if your tent weighs more than 4 ounces you need to go back to the kids table

I would probably use a half shelter for fucking around innawoods for one night, but I like a full tent when I'm backpacking for an extended period

Any thoughts on the Tarptent Stratospire?

so do you have a bivvy for your feet or what?

I forgot the brand of my tent and it is too damn late to go and check. All I can say is its a nice shade of blue with a bit of green not like an 80s jacket.

How do I set up a tent by myself? Do i need a certain kind of tent?

Most tents are window licking retard simple to put up. If you need help you can always just read the instructions that come with them. Doing it solo might take some time, put it all depends on how big of a tent you have.

It depends on the situation OP. For me, the tent should be small(even smaller than that), easily camouflaged and set up/tore down. Those are my priorities since I'm usually in wood patches near roads with my bicycle.

The lack of freestanding in here has me thinking you guys are casual faggots who never actually use your tents.

When travelling, there will be many times when the optimal place to setup your tent has too hard a surface to get a lot of stakes in. You'll wind up taking that tarptent down into a soggy ditch which will get filled with rainwater overnight, while I'll be perched on the hill wherever the fuck I choose.
