🇵🇱 Polish police union breaks ranks: "No officer wants to become part of political games"
The "Policyjna Solidarność" police union has sent an open letter to Police Commander-in-Chief Gen. Marek Boroń, demanding he publicly explain the police's role at the Constitutional Court.
Key points:
🔸Officers sent to Warsaw are mostly young recruits fresh out of basic training, with no experience of situations like this.
🔸Officers from across the country have raised legal doubts about the operation, including possible interference with a constitutional body of the state. The union cites the Criminal Code articles on coups, attacks on constitutional bodies and abuse of power.
🔸It points to MPs being refused entry and the President of Poland being "forced to squeeze through a police cordon," left without proper protection.
🔸It says the leaked police readiness order "clearly indicates" the situation may have been planned in advance with police leadership.
And the line that will worry Tusk most:
"Since early morning, we have been receiving inquiries from families of police officers worried about the health and lives of their husbands, wives, sons and daughters, officers who know they have been left alone with accusations of committing crimes while carrying out their superiors' orders."
The union warns that morale has collapsed and that this could lead to protests like those of 2018 and 2021, when thousands of Polish police officers called in sick.

KSL Capital Partners seems to have a thing for the neighborhood where Pacific Coast Highway meets Niguel Road.
The Denver-based investment firm that specializes in high-end hospitality just scooped up the curiously named luxury resort, the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. Despite the name, the property sits on ocean-view land in Dana Point.
CoStar broke the news, yet the price and buyer’s comments remain under wraps. Hotel watcher Alan Reay of Atlas Hospitality, however, estimates a sale price of about $600 million for the 373-room resort, which is fresh off a $50 million facelift last year.
The Ritz-Carlton is “trophy real estate in an irreplaceable location,” Reay said. “That’s in very high demand, and buyers are willing to pay a premium. KSL is one of the leaders in this luxury segment of the market.”
When the Ritz-Carlton opened in 1984, it helped kickstart Orange County’s luxury tourism scene. The bluff-top perch above Salt Creek Beach offers tough-to-beat Pacific views.
And KSL knows this stretch of coast. The firm once owned the luxury resort across Pacific Coast Highway, now the 400-room Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club.
Trading places
Like many local luxury resorts, ownership of the Ritz-Carlton has been fluid.
Back in 2006, Strategic Hotels & Resorts, a Chicago-based luxury hotel investor, paid $330 million for the hotel.
Fast forward to 2015: Blackstone scooped up Strategic Hotels for $6 billion.
A year later, Blackstone flipped most of Strategic Hotels, including the Ritz-Carlton and Montage Laguna Beach, toChina’sAnbang Insurance Group for $6.5 billion.
But Anbang hit financial trouble and was seized by the Chinese government, which now controls Strategic Hotels through another insurer.
The Ritz’s sale to KSL is part of China’s move to unload the Strategic Hotels portfolio.
In 2022, the Chinese insurer sold the 260-room Montage Laguna Beach to Texas billionaire Tilman Fertitta for about $660 million.
Frequent owner
KSL is no stranger to Dana Point resorts.
In 2014, it paid $317 million for the luxury hotel across PCH from the Ritz-Carlton, then known as the St. Regis Monarch Beach.
“One of a handful of properties that has it all — luxurious accommodations and world-class amenities, in an irreplaceable location steps from the Pacific Ocean, all in an easy drive from Southern California or flight via three major airports located nearby,” a company statement read.
In 2016, KSL decided to drop St. Regis and run the resort that opened in 2001 on its own. Three years later, KSL sold it to Ohana Real Estate Investors for $497 million.
Good timing, since the pandemic slammed the tourism industry the next year.
In 2020, Ohana also put the resort under Waldorf Astoria management.
By the way, Ohana exited that investment when the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation tribe took full control of the Waldorf Astoria last year.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office makes 281 arrests during human trafficking and child predator enforcement operation “Polk Around and Find Out II”
During a seven-day joint-agency undercover operation led by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office focusing on those who prey upon and travel to meet children for unlawful sexual activity, and human trafficking, 281 suspects were arrested for a multitude of felonies: 239 arrests were related to soliciting prostitutes, offering to commit prostitution, and aiding/abetting or transporting prostitutes; 31 arrests were related to child sexual predators; and 11 other arrests were made.
The suspects were charged with a total of 198 felonies and 290 misdemeanors. Their previous criminal charges totaled 358 felonies and 440 misdemeanors.
PCSO detectives were joined by investigators from the Department of Homeland Security, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement; Attorney General James Uthmeier Office of Statewide Prosecution; Florida Department of Financial Services; State Attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit Brian Haas; and detectives from the Auburndale Police Department, Bartow Police Department, Davenport Police Department, Lakeland Police Department, Lake City Police Department, Lake Wales Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Hardee County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Division, and the U.S. Secret Service.
17 of the suspects told detectives they work at local theme parks or resorts,including Disney World and Universal Studios– 7 of these suspects were child sex predators.
32 illegal aliens were arrested, from 9 different countries. 22 suspects are collecting public assistance – $8,373 per month collectively (which equates to $100,476 per year).
There were 117 suspects arrested for soliciting a prostitute and traveling to the undercover location to negotiate having sex in exchange for money. One is an Orange County Deputy Sheriff, Eric Raymond.
The 122 suspects who travelled to commit prostitution were screened by detectives and the social service organizations One More Child and the Florida Department of Children and Families to determine if they were being trafficked or exploited by others, and all were offered services. During this investigation, 11 human trafficking victims were identified.
31 suspects communicated with and solicited who they thought were children or guardians of children online, and were very explicit about what they wanted to do in order to sexually batter those children.

Famed Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz offered his thoughts about the Dan Sullivan scandal in Alaska during a recent appearance on Newsmax.
Host Greta Van Susteren asks if this was nothing more than a dirty trick, but Dershowitz says it crosses the line to a crime and even cites a court decision to back up his opinion.
According to him, this falls into the category of conspiracy and a civil rights violation.

Alan Dershowitz warned that an alleged Democratic scheme to confuse voters in Alaska’s closely watched Senate race could amount to a federal felony, insisting the suspected conspiracy is already complete regardless of whether it changes the election result.
Appearing on Newsmax’s The Record with Greta Van Susteren on Thursday, Dershowitz backed the Justice Department’s escalating investigation into allegations that Democratic operatives recruited a candidate with the same name as Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) to split his vote.
“I think it crosses the line to crime,” Dershowitz said when asked by host Greta Van Susteren whether the alleged operation was merely a “dirty” political trick or a violation of the law.
He continued: “There is a second circuit opinion that basically says if you get a conspiracy – and here there’s clearly a conspiracy, you had all these Democratic operatives working together, a conspiracy to deny people their civil rights or to defraud voters and mislead them into voting for the wrong person – that could rise to the level of a felony, a five year felony.”

In connection with the events, the police "Solidarity" wants the Chief Commander of the Police, General insp. Marek Boroń took a clear position. In a letter dated October 31, 2026. the organization draws attention to legal doubts regarding the actions taken by police officers and the possible official and legal consequences that police officers may face when carrying out orders from their superiors.

Among the issues raised were also reports of parliamentarians being refused entry to the Constitutional Tribunal and a situation in which the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, had to squeeze through a police cordon. The Union expresses doubts about the correctness of these actions and also draws attention to issues related to ensuring the protection of the head of state.
The letter also cited the letter from the Chief Inspector. Tomasz Michułka, which –according to union representatives– may indicate that the actions taken before the Constitutional Tribunal were previously planned and consulted with the Police management.
The union is also raising alarm about the morale of officers. As indicated in the letter, the organization is being contacted by families of police officers concerned about the situation of their loved ones. The authors of the letter emphasize that officers should not be left without clear support from their superiors in situations of emerging legal doubts regarding the duties they perform.
According to Police Solidarity, the prolonged lack of a clear position may deepen uncertainty among officers and negatively impact morale in the force. The organization also warns against using the Police in political disputes, emphasizing that the task of officers is to serve society, regardless of the current political situation.
In the final part of the letter, the Police Solidarity Trade Union appeals to the Chief Commander of the Police to immediately take a position on the events before the Constitutional Tribunal and to provide officers with a clear message regarding their situation and responsibility related to the execution of official orders.
The letter was signed by Jacek Łukasik, chairman of the National Council of the Police Solidarity Trade Union.

reporting.– The Democracy Files heavily suggests that ESRN is who ultimately calls the shots when it is time to mobilize United Democracy Alliance (UDA).
And that particular trail leads directly to none other thanNorm Eisen.
Now, this does not mean Eisen is the unilateral mastermind. Most likely, that belongs to yet another mysterious small coalition of elites - we can only speculate on who else is in that club; ESRN is financed under State Democracy Defenders Action, EIN 93-1524544.
But Eisen's hands are on a great many levers, and we can reasonably infer he is one of the key decision-making figures.

While going through the “Democracy Files” exposed by @DataRepublican, @SKDoubleDub and @LisaLogan, I found a September 2026 fundraising proposal from Renew American Democracy and Renew to Thrive called “Meeting the Moment.”
They were trying to raise $250,000 to build what they called “transition vehicles” in case the federal government was deemed illegitimate.
The more you read, the crazier it gets.
The proposal says:
“Governors hold the constitutional authority and public standing to usher in a new form of government.”
It claims they had already initiated outreach through Governors Safeguarding Democracy and were working with Braver Angels CEO Maury Giles to engage Utah Governor Spencer Cox. They also wanted to begin direct engagement with governors’ offices in Washington and Wisconsin.
But it didn’t stop there…
The proposal calls for private outreach to the United Nations, foreign heads of state, the European Union, African Union and ASEAN so they would be prepared to recognize and support what the group described as a “legitimate, peaceful renewal process.”

Did you know that 11.3 of the Law of War Manual was STARTED in JANUARY 2021? The 2026 Midterms puts an END to the Law of War Manual 11.3 (End of Occupation). Let me explain.💥
In January of 2021 when the National Guard and FEMA occupied the Mall area surrounding the Capitol Building, that STARTED 11.3 (End of Occupation) in the Law of War Manual. This began the process of removing the Belligerent Occupants.
When we WIN the 2026 midterms, we will have ENDED 11.3:
End of the hostile relationship — specifically, the Manual states:
"if a new independent government of the previously occupied territory assumes control of the territory and consents to the presence of the previously occupying forces, then such a situation would no longer be considered a belligerent occupation."💥
Remember what President @realDonaldTrump said in his First 2017 Inaugural Speech:
"We are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to You, the People."
It's Chapter XI, Section 11.3 — titled "End of Occupation and Duration of GC Obligations" — with the specific termination rule in subsection 11.3.1, "End of Occupation."
That subsection states belligerent occupation ceases when:
1. The occupier no longer factually governs the territory (e.g., expulsion, withdrawal, or an uprising that prevents enforcement of authority), or
2. The hostile relationship ends — for example, when a new, independent government of the previously occupied territory assumes control and consents to the presence of the former occupier's forces, or when a legitimate peace treaty transfers the territory.
At that point, the occupier's temporary right to govern ends and authority reverts to the local sovereign. Section 11.3.2 then addresses the limited duration of certain Geneva Convention IV obligations that may continue briefly after the general close of military operations, even while governmental functions are still being exercised.

US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday morning, checking in amid preparations for possible strikes on Iran, the Wall Street Journal has reported, citing people familiar with the call.
According to the WSJ, Trump had earlier held another meeting with senior military commanders at the White House to discuss options for resuming major combat operations. Over the past few weeks, multiple media outlets have reported that the US could resume strikes on Iran after the November 3 midterm elections.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to bomb Iran, warning of “another little Epic Fury” if Tehran fails to meet his peace terms. US officials have reportedly warned Arab allies hosting American military bases to prepare for a short but intense operation.
Asked at a Halloween party at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on Saturday night whether he expected to “go back to war with Iran” in the coming weeks, Trump replied: “Let’s say I did – would I tell you? I can’t tell you this.”
The Pentagon has reportedly presented Trump with potential targets ranging from Iranian nuclear facilities and underground military sites to Kharg Island, a major oil export hub in the Persian Gulf. The US has also been sending additional missile interceptors to the region and relocating troops from vulnerable bases.
According to a Jerusalem Post report published on Saturday, the US and Israel have already drawn up plans for renewed military action, but Trump is unlikely to order strikes before Tuesday’s vote unless intelligence indicates preparations for a surprise attack.
A resumption of hostilities would come at a sensitive time for Netanyahu, whose right-wing bloc failed to secure a parliamentary majority in last week’s election. He will remain in office as coalition negotiations continue.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Trump had not decided whether to launch new strikes against Iran but preferred a diplomatic solution. His remarks came as Iranian negotiators met Qatari mediators in Doha following more than 12 hours of discussions in Tehran on Friday. A source familiar with the talks told Reuters that diplomacy was being coordinated through regular contacts with Washington.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had reviewed a letter from US Vice President J.D. Vance aimed at reopening negotiations, describing the initiative as a “positive step.”
Meanwhile, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei ordered the armed forces to prepare for “an immediate and effective response, without geographical restriction” if the country is attacked again, according to a statement released by his office on Saturday.

French economy ‘headed straight for a wall’ – finance minister
Shrinking output and accelerating inflation have added to Paris’ mounting financial troubles, official figures show

France is “headed straight for a wall” unless it reins in its budget deficit, Finance Minister Roland Lescure has warned, as the country’s economy contracts and inflation accelerates.
Gross domestic product fell by 0.1% in the third quarter, following stagnation in the previous three months and a 0.2% decline at the start of the year, the national statistics agency reported on Friday. Annual inflation climbed to 3.4% in October from 3.1% in September, its highest level since January 2024.
Lescure also described the economy as being “at a standstill,” underscoring the mounting financial challenges facing President Emmanuel Macron’s government.
The downturn extended across key sectors. Exports dropped 1.7%, largely due to weaker overseas aerospace sales, while investment fell 0.6%. Manufacturing output declined 1.4%, with automobile production shrinking for the fourth consecutive quarter.
France is also struggling with public debt equivalent to roughly 119% of GDP and a substantial budget deficit. Government borrowing costs climbed following Friday’s figures, with yields on ten-year bonds approaching 5%, raising concerns about the cost of servicing the country’s debt.
The deteriorating outlook has increased pressure on Macron, whose government is pursuing spending cuts while boosting military expenditure and weapons deliveries to Kiev. France increased its 2026 military budget by €6.7 billion ($7.5 billion) despite its mounting debt.
The government’s austerity policies have also fueled nationwide unrest that began in September with protests over staff shortages and deteriorating conditions at a high school near Paris. The demonstrations quickly spread, with thousands of students demanding more education funding and accusing the authorities of prioritizing weapons over schools.
The unrest escalated into violence, with rioters looting shops, setting vehicles ablaze and damaging the historic city hall in Limoges. Thousands were arrested and hundreds injured.
The protests have drawn comparisons with the 2018 Yellow Vest movement, which challenged Macron’s economic policies. Activists, students and trade unions have called for fresh demonstrations on Saturday, prompting authorities to mobilize 70,000 security personnel nationwide. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez warned of a “very high risk” of disorder.
Macron has blamed the purchasing-power crisis on the US-Israeli war against Iran, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and surging fuel prices. He has also accused social media platforms of “damaging democracy” by circulating footage of protests and riots.
With the 2027 presidential election approaching, the economic downturn and continuing unrest have further weakened Macron’s position, complicating efforts to secure parliamentary approval for a deficit-cutting budget.

WARSAW—The Ukrainian parliament recently passed legislation directly modeled on Russian precedents. The laws curb demonstrations, using language broad enough to apply to almost any gathering. They criminalize “slander,” which might mean any criticism of the government. They require the members of any organization with any foreign funding, including the Greek Catholic Church, to register as “foreign agents,” which is to say spies. These laws were passed at night, with a show of hands. Deputies did not discuss them, or in some cases even read them.
Within days, central Kiev became a war zone. Men with truncheons used clouds of tear gas to break up protesters who have been demonstrating against corruption and Russian influence since November. Priests said Mass before the barricades; buses burned in the snow. Riot police shot people with rubber bullets. Then they shot them with real bullets. Others were hauled away and beaten. Anyone standing near the scene last Tuesday received a text message from the phone company: “Dear subscriber, you are registered as a participant in a mass disturbance.” So far, five people are dead.

These events are so harsh, and so contrary to what anyone expected, that they should lead us to abandon immediately some of the illusions we have long held about this part of the world. First and foremost, it’s time to abandon the myth of the “color revolutions”: the belief that peaceful, nonviolent demonstrators, aided by a bit of Western media training, will eventually rise up and overthrow the corrupt oligarchies that have run most of the post-Soviet orbit since 1991. The history of Ukraine, from the 2004 Orange Revolution until now, has proved this belief to be false.

In fact, corrupt oligarchs, backed by Russian money and Russian political technology, are a lot stronger than anyone ever expected them to be. They have the cash to bribe an entire parliament’s worth of elected officials. They have the cynicism to revive the old Soviet technique of selective violence: One or two murders is enough to scare off many thousands of peaceful demonstrators, one or two arrests will suffice to remind businessmen who is boss. They have also learned to manipulate media (as the Russians do), to multiply their money in Western financial institutions (as the Russians do), even to send threatening text messages. They have crafted a well-argued, well-funded alternate narrative about Western economic decline and cultural decadence. A friend jokingly calls this the “all your daughters will become lesbians” line of argument, but it is surprisingly powerful.
But the recent history of Ukraine should lead us to abandon another myth as well: the belief that some kind of post-Cold War order still prevails in Europe, and that the United States is an important part of it. It is true that European Union leaders have engaged with Ukraine for the past several years at many levels—presidential, ministerial, bureaucratic—in an effort to create a broader relationship. It is true that their effort failed, following a concerted Russian campaign of targeted trade boycotts, veiled military threats, big bribes (a lower gas price), many smaller bribes, and a massive anti-Western propaganda effort designed to make Ukrainians believe “Europe” would be bad for them.
The American response, meanwhile, has been negligible. After European talks broke down, the Obama administration sent an assistant secretary of state to hand out cookies to demonstrators in Kiev. Now the administration says it might not issue visas to a few Ukrainian leaders. That policy might make a few people in Washington feel better, but it will also send the Ukrainians running directly into the arms of the Russians. In the words of a Canadian diplomat, “It’s like watching a hockey game with only one team on the ice.”
It will take a while for these new truths to sink in, but once Ukrainians realize that the ideal of the color revolution is dead, and that the West has no tools to revive it, there may be consequences. If peaceful demonstrations don’t work, after all, some may logically conclude that it’s time to use violence. Ukrainians have indeed constructed violent resistance movements more than once in the past century. It’s even possible that the Ukrainian government hopes they will do so again, as that might rapidly render all opposition illegitimate.
There is a less worst-case scenario, but it will require more patience than almost anybody has, and more thinking than almost anybody wants to do. What Ukraine really needs now is a slower, deeper, cultural change, led by Ukrainians who want to live in a less corrupt state. The Ukrainians need to create strong alternative institutions such as media, or trade unions or schools, as well as political organizations. They need to persuade their businessmen to change the climate. They need to found companies that refuse to do “business as usual.”
At the same time, Europeans and Americans must also cease to facilitate either Ukrainian or Russian corruption. We must start to take serious threats seriously. A trade boycott must be met with a trade boycott. Dishonest propaganda must be answered. If we want to use sanctions, we should use real economic sanctions, and we should direct them at the real perpetrators, in Moscow as well as Kiev. But before doing anything else, we need to be honest about the scale of this setback, the regional nature of the problem, and the profound weakness of our past policy. Slogans just aren’t good enough anymore. It’s time to get back on the ice

US oil companies tripled profits during Iran war – NYT
American producers and refiners are getting richer, but President Donald Trump may pay the price

The US’ largest oil companies almost tripled their profits during the US-Israeli war on Iran, the New York Times has reported, at a time when soaring energy costs threaten to wipe out US President Donald Trump’s Republican Party in the upcoming midterm elections.
The American oil giants – including Chevron, Exxon Mobil, and Valero – earned $130 billion in profits between April and September, according to six months worth of financial results covering more than 50 companies, combined by the New York Times. In the same period last year, these companies made less than $47 billion.
This windfall is an almost direct mirror of the extra $147 billion Americans spent on gasoline and diesel since American and Israeli warplanes began striking Iran on February 28.
With the Strait of Hormuz closed to shipping for almost all of the last six months, and Yemen’s Houthis attacking Saudi extraction sites and shipping in the Red Sea, American producers have reaped the benefit of high oil prices, with Chevron and Exxon Mobil recording higher profits than at any point since the Ukraine conflict escalated in 2022.
Exxon’s third-quarter profit more than doubled this year, while Chevron’s almost tripled.
American refiners have taken advantage of the widespread destruction of refining sites in the Gulf region, and the threat of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian refineries, leveraging their safe location inside the US. Valero and Phillips 66 both posted all-time record third-quarter profits this year.
Europe’s oil giants have posted similar results, with Shell, TotalEnergies, and Repsol all more than doubling their earnings last quarter over the same timeframe in 2025, as Europeans grapple with record energy bills. Some European finance ministers have demanded that the EU impose windfall taxes on these companies in response.
At $4.29 per gallon as of Monday, US gasoline prices are now higher than they were at any point during former President Joe Biden’s four years in office, with the exception of the first three months after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict. Trump has described the elevated prices as a “small price to pay for” preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, but voters aren’t convinced.
This week, 72% of respondents told a Gallup poll that gasoline prices are “extremely” important in how they plan to vote in next week’s midterm elections. Most polling organizations show the Republican Party on track to lose one or both houses of Congress next week, with the GOP trailing the Democrats by between eight and nine points nationwide.
Trump has tried to alleviate some of this damage by lifting sanctions on Russian diesel, and at least three diesel tankers have left Russian ports en route to the US.Trump has also pressed Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to cease attacks on Russian refineries, but Zelensky has apparently ignored these requests.

Pro-EU Polish PM brings ‘Russian bots’ into court showdown

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has accused his political opponents of receiving support from an “army of Russian bots”amid an escalating constitutional crisis in Warsaw. The pro-EU leader offered no proof for his claim, which came after a government-backed judge moved to oust two key officials supported by his rival, right-wing President Karol Nawrocki, from the Constitutional Tribunal, triggering public outrage.
Unrest erupted on Friday when Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, a judge elected by Tusk’s governing majority, ordered the suspension of Constitutional Tribunal President Bogdan Swieczkowski and his deputy Bartlomiej Sochanski, both linked to the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party. The tribunal’s existing leadership rejected the suspensions, declaring that all those participating in the attempted takeover “are committing the crime of a coup d’état.”
The development triggered street protests around the court building and a heavy police deployment. Nawrocki, who canceled a planned trip to Senegal, personally pushed his way into the tribunal to confront Korwin-Piotrowska and her allies, telling them that “you are not judges of the Constitutional Tribunal.”
In a televised address on Saturday evening, Tusk scrambled to defend his actions, accusing his rivals of “seeking to destroy democracy and the rule of law.” The Polish PM, a strong supporter of EU integration who served as president of the European Council from 2014 to 2019, has long criticized PiS judicial reforms – which he said undermined judges’ independence – as well as Nawrocki’s refusal to administer the oath to five Constitutional Tribunal judges elected by the current parliamentary majority.
“Is it greed, stupidity or treason?” Tusk asked, claiming that the opposition was receiving support from “pro-Russian forces worldwide.”
“In this conflict, they’re using an army of Russian bots online. In fact, they’ve even received public compliments from the Kremlin’s chief ideologue,” the prime minister claimed, without providing further proof or elaborating.
Moscow has repeatedly said it does not interfere in other countries’ domestic affairs. While Russian officials have yet to respond to Tusk’s allegation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in July denied that Russia was responsible for cyberattacks on Polish energy infrastructure.
Responding to Tusk’s address, the president’s chief of staff, Zbigniew Bogucki, called the prime minister a “pathological liar”and accused him of setting Poland ablaze while pretending to extinguish the fire. “It’s hard to find a single word, expression, or sentence that would be true, that would reflect the actual or legal reality,” he added.
Tusk’s accusation comes after several Western media outlets, anti-Russia hawks, and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky propagated the claim that Kiev’s drone strikes, which damaged several data centers operated by Russian technology giant Yandex, crippled alleged Russian bot networks supporting Western right-wing movements, including Germany’s AfD and US President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement.
However, several independent investigations by cybersecurity and research firms quickly debunked the narrative. Experts in particular pointed out that one viral graph supposedly showing a collapse in AfD-related activity was found to contain fabricated or unverifiable figures.
Commenting on the chaos, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev described it as a “constitutional coup.” He suggested that “Brussels’ protégé Tusk” was persecuting PiS conservatives over the latter’s hostility toward Ukrainian Nazi collaborators.Medvedev concluded by sarcastically invoking an old schoolyard joke, saying, “And these are the people who scold my brother and me for picking our noses.”

Colors of the Moon
What color is the Moon? It depends on the night and the time. Outside of the Earth's atmosphere, the dark Moon, which shines by reflected sunlight, appears a magnificently brown-tinged gray. The featured image highlights a collection of apparent colors of the full moon on Earth, documented by one astrophotographer over 10 years from different locations across Italy. A red- or yellow-colored moon usually indicates a moon seen near the horizon. There, some of the blue light has been scattered away by a long path through the Earth's atmosphere, sometimes laden with fine dust. A blue-colored moon is more rare and can indicate an atmosphere carrying larger dust particles. What created the purple moon is unclear it may be a combination of several effects. The last image captures the total lunar eclipse of 2018 July where the moon, in Earth's shadow, appeared a faint red due to light refracted through air around the Earth. Ukraine’s public debt has surged 130-fold since 2006
The IMF has warned that Kiev’s finances are unsustainable without restructuring and continued foreign assistance

Ukraine’s state and state-guaranteed debt has surged roughly 130-fold in national currency terms over the past two decades, according to figures from the country’s Finance Ministry. In recent months, Kiev has been struggling to plug multi-billion-dollar holes in its budget while pleading with its reluctant backers in the EU for more assistance.
The ministry released the updated figure on Tuesday, putting debt at 9.54 trillion hryvnias ($212.61 billion) as of late September, compared with 73.29 billion hryvnias ($14.51 billion) in September 2006.
The staggering increase is partly explained by the hryvnia’s depreciation, with the currency losing nearly 90% of its value against the US dollar over the same period. However, the increase remains substantial even in dollar terms, with the debt expanding 14.6-fold. It has also more than doubled from $97.95 billion at the end of 2021, just before the escalation of Kiev’s conflict with Russia in February 2022.
Foreign governments and international institutions now account for 66.4% of Ukraine’s debt portfolio, much of it on preferential terms, which helps to alleviate the financial burden. Kiev has a debt repayment schedule extending through 2061 and is obliged to pay almost $33 billion to global financial institutions in interest and servicing costs alone, on top of the principal of almost $107 billion. For comparison’s sake, Ukraine’s 2021 GDP was around $200 billion.
Ukraine’s dire financial strain did not escape the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which warned in July that Kiev’s debt “remains unsustainable” without restructuring and further preferential foreign assistance.
Kiev’s financial burden came into the spotlight in late summer when Vladimir Zelensky disclosed an unexpected $27 billion defense funding gap – which emerged after his 40-day PR ‘pressure campaign’ on Russia – and urged Brussels to frontload part of its €90 billion loan earmarked for 2027.
The EU, however, refused to validate the figure and approve further assistance, urging Ukraine to make progress on stalled governance and anti-corruption reforms to unlock funding that was already available. In early October, Kiev managed to plug the gap with austerity measures and by convincing the EU to defer some payments for weapons until the next year.
Still, EU foreign policy chief KajaKallas acknowledged on Thursday that European leaders were finding it increasingly difficult to justify continued assistance to Kiev because “everyone is tired of this war,”while urging Western governments to continue supporting Ukraine.

Pentagon facing up to $15 bn in Iran war base damages – WSJ
Washington is weighing a pullback from facilities in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, with some damaged infrastructure potentially left unrepaired, the report says

Iranian missile and drone strikes have inflicted up to $15 billion in damage on military installations hosting American forces across the Middle East, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing sources and its own satellite imagery analysis. The massive destruction adds to the Pentagon’s mounting war bill, which has already reached nearly $50 billion.
The newspaper’s analysis identified a total of 274 damaged structures across 24 installations with an American military presence. At least 119 buildings at 13 installations were damaged in the opening two weeks alone; the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain was among the hardest hit. Tehran launched a retaliatory wave of strikes following the unprovoked US-Israeli attack which started the conflict on February 28.
An unnamed US official familiar with the matter told the WSJ that the Pentagon estimated damage to bases from Iranian strikes – which became increasingly precise as the conflict escalated – at a minimum of $5 billion. Another WSJ source suggested that the number could potentially be as high as $15 billion.
Many installations are shared with Washington’s regional allies, meaning they could potentially pay for some of the damage, the report says, adding that the Pentagon may elect not to restore some infrastructure at all.
In particular, Washington is reportedly considering pulling back from its installations in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia so that its personnel would be out of reach. Tehran has previously demanded a full-scale US military withdrawal from the region as a prerequisite for sustainable peace.
Iran, meanwhile, has been rapidly restoring missile facilities and recovering buried weapons stockpiles, the report adds, noting that the military build-up comes as US President Donald Trump is considering further strikes despite shortages in American interceptor inventories.
However, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has been dismissive about Tehran’s military potential, saying in August that “They still have some capabilities, but it’s nowhere near what it was at all.”
Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, accused the administration of seeking to “mask the true cost of the war” after being denied access to Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base, where the WSJ identified at least a dozen damaged buildings. The Pentagon said that the ban was due to regional travel restrictions.
According to the Pentagon’s latest estimate provided to Congress, the Iran war has cost $47.1 billion through October 16, excluding base damage. The figure includes roughly $29 billion to replace expended munitions, $11.9 billion in operational expenses, and $6.1 billion in equipment losses.
As for the casualties, the US military now acknowledges 23 deaths linked to Iran war operations, including 11 from enemy fire, and 865 wounded.

Feds: Michigan Man Charged for Threatening to Kill FBI Director Kash Patel

Federal authorities arrested a Michigan man Friday for allegedly threatening to kill Federal Bureau of Investigation Director (FBI) Kash Patel and one of his associates.
The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Anthony Daniel Palazzolo of Chesterfield Township, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan announced Friday:
The criminal complaint charges Palazzolo with sending V-1 a message via Facebook on October 8, 2026, in which Palazzolo wrote he had “put a hit out” on V-1, and that Patel was a “dead mf too.” Following the FBI’s interview of Palazzolo, Palazzolo continued to harass a Detroit FBI agent via phone, threatening to come up to the office and “use deadly force against every single one of you government officials—FBI Secret Service will all be f[——] killed.”
Palazzolo appeared in federal court this afternoon and was temporarily detained. A detention hearing was set for November 2.
Palazzolo also allegedly messaged the U.S. Secret Service, the Supreme Court, and a court in Texas, the Daily Mail reported, citing court documents.
The outlet said he was accused of threatening to sodomize a government official in those messages, and has a lengthy criminal history spanning Michigan, Texas, and Florida.
“His prior rap sheet includes a 2018 charge for falsely reporting a terrorist threat, as well as a separate charge for making a fake bomb threat,” the Mail report stated, adding that he is facing a felony charge of transmitting threatening interstate communications.
Meanwhile, the FBI has been breaking up fraud schemes across the United States, capturing alleged members of terrorist organizations, and working to protect children from predators.
In a social media post Wednesday, Patel wrote “This FBI is crushing 764 – a violent network that targets children online, affiliated with Nihilistic Violent Extremism.”
“And across our broader fight to protect America’s children, 6,000+ child predators and human traffickers arrested — UP 13%. Our children deserve protection. Their victims deserve justice. This FBI is delivering BOTH,” he added.
He also announced Friday “The fraudsters thought they could steal from American taxpayers and get away with it. Not anymore. Yesterday, FBI Minneapolis conducted an operation and arrested 4 alleged Medicaid fraudsters tied to over $41 MILLION in intended fraud and $21.65 MILLION in actual losses.”
“And we’re just getting started,” Patel stated.
