Guess they're only a few months away from some sort of release.
No.16259

It's in closed alpha for professional Maya users apparently, not sure if they'll be doing a beta at some point but I would guess maybe some time around the Oculus/HTC VR headset releases next year if we're lucky.
Only saying that as there's no pictures yet, they're being really secretive about it and I doubt they'd want to beta without the full feature set, and for what it is it probably it's probably a lot of work.

Also the hardware specs required for this are gonna be much higher than SL so I predict an 80% decrease in Brazilians.
Furries tho,nah most of them are rich degenerate 1st worlders with autism, they're gonna stay for good.
I bet my ass the first thing getting created for Project Sansar is a dong.
The great question is if it's gonna be a furry or human dong.

I'd guess they'd allow custom skeletons, as the whole point of making a new platform was so they could get past the limits and constraints of their existing platform without breaking everything. You could probably import the LL one anyway, if you wanted that garbage.

Course I am hopeful it does turn out good and can survive as an alternative to SL.
If that "experience" thing they added into SL is anything to go by for what they have planned with Sansar, I see a lot of potential in it for some pretty nifty games and such.
Plus, if people are able to own land larger than the confined square boxes we have now for regions, just imagine the possible RP/combat/etc themed places people could make!

I hope they'll have some system in place to heavily discourage people from uploading mess like this so that they'll actually have to git gud, while also hoping it won't be too restrictive for the rest of us still learning with some decently moderate skills by comparison.
I've seen people suggest to add a "land Impact" styled system for avatar attachments in SL, which honestly might actually be useful to help encourage content creators to get better at optimizing their shit so there's less picture related be it in the form of mesh, scripts or even texture,

No.17524

They're planning on having systems in place so things they are uploaded will work well and look good on vr devices, meaning everything has to run at, I believe, 120 fps or better on current setups.

Making attachments a limited resource for the actual consumers is probably the best way to get people to make reasonable avatar attachments. Just look at the render weight of furniture vs jewelry in SL. Of course that partially depends on them actually getting a workable way of detecting it.

Now we just need to make sure the modding and editing tools are robust, and don't get shit on by copyright concerns.

Ebbe had another talk.
http://blog.nalates.net/2016/03/10/ebbes-speech-shaking-things/
It looks like Sansar is being rolled out as something distinct and separate from SL and isn't precisely intended as its own 'virtual world.' It will have its own currency with an exchange between it and SL. It will not have a live editing function either, instead having some form of production mode for the entire sim and a publish mode for the entire sim.
Looks like their solution to the issue of potentially losing their user base with the massive hardware requirements will have (to the perception of your average LL bodied/no ALM peasant) is to simply regard them as two separate products which will require support in parallel.

>It will not have a live editing function either, instead having some form of production mode for the entire sim and a publish mode for the entire sim.
I'm not entirely sure what that entails, but if ends up making user modding more difficult, they're shooting themselves in the foot.

Probably for baked in texture shit, better physics culling and such, environment maps for reflections and other shit I can't remember that's pretty much standard nowadays. It's probably for all performance reasons.

That's pretty much exactly what he said, yeah. Besides the Wordpress thing, which I agree is dumb, but I think it's just how he's able to comprehend it. Ebbe himself isn't too technically inclined, if I had to guess, but he seems to be doing a decent job of listening to those that are. I might be wrong, but that's what I gather, and really that's all I ask of his position, to know who to listen to and when.
