Okay, this is probably a super newbie question, but I need help with this. For some reason, most avatars I try to equip are currently broken, with the knees not aligned and the eyes sitting too far back. I know the issue is on my end, but when I asked on the official SL forums I got an answer that didn't help me at all, so I'm turning to you lot who I figure probably know more anyway.
How do I fix this? Furry dog avi is just the one example I already have handy, this is happening to every avatar I have except my Kobold.

For anybody else having certain issues with Advanced Lighting and shadows in SL the current amd beta driver 15.3 fixes it.Do a clean install first though, and then either upgrade to 15.3, or if you aren't a fan of using the beta drivers, revert back to 14.4 till the new driver is out of beta :v

I've been playing SL for about 6 years now. I started playing it long before I ever started using chans, and started playing it because I remember an article about it from way back when it first came out talking about how cool it was. When I started playing SL, I had zero knowledge of what it was, what is was like, or what public perception of it was. I went in completely unspoiled, and fell in love with it.
After playing it for awhile, I began seeing a bit of that public perception. Every single time SL has come up in conversation on 4chan, 8chan, and even other smaller chans, it gets ragged on endlessly. Even Urban Dictionary takes a huge shit on it. The general consensus seems to be that SL is super autistic and gay, and only losers play it.
Did you know about this before you started playing? If not, do you think it would have affected whether you would ever have started? Does it bother you that so many people hate it, and by extension hate you? Because it bothers me :(

I am so lost...
I've decided to take a look at SL, but I'm still so lost. I can't even figure out how the camera works or why the focus point seems to randomly change all the time. I want to learn how to work with all the items and the outfits and inventory and how to edit my character and all that, but the little welcome island at the beginning didn't teach me all that much. I can't help but think I missed something, like a tutorial area or something like that.
Is there a place where I can REALLY learn how SL works, or should I just try stuff and learn by trial and error?
I know I'm probably being retarded, but I feel really lost, and any pointers would be welcome.
Also, I had a few more questions:
How many people play now-a-days? Is the community big?
How is the RP scene? Are there many people interested in role playing in general, or are most just there to make friends and mess around?

Ok, amatuer modeler here, I made a mesh for SL and I've textured it and everything, problem is I'm following a tutorial on how to apply the SL mesh to it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JHWDdrIeD0) and I've hit a problem. At 2:40 they say to select the mesh and the armature, and then press ctrl+p and choose armature>create from bone heat. I don't have this menu option. I've tried everything, and I just wanna get this fucking thing working, any help would be 10/10. Side note, I moved the default positions of the bones, is that fine?

I have noticed a pattern and would like to get more datapoints. I first noticed this pattern around 2011, and have not seen it violated since, but I have also only seen a new example once in the past year. The pattern is this: people who use the old pre-sculptie luskwood furry avatars (and actually any furry AV made before sculpties) are insufferable twats. Every time I've met one it's been like a 4chan parody of someone with a persecution complex.
The most memorable event was of someone teleporting an old friend in to meet their new friends. The luskwood wearer (LWW) entered wearing a diaper and a pacifier. Obviously, this fellow received immediate ridicule and promptly began to argue with those present that it was completely normal and healthy for him to enjoy being babied. After leaving, LWW informed the person that had teleported him in that "teleporting me there was strike one". Fortunately, he had the sense to sever all contact with LWW after that.
Other memorable instances include informing me that I am toxic because I made a fart joke, numerous instances of sperging out over a video game reference, and in one instance, a frothing rage over someone using a newer version of the same avatar as them (they were using a gen 2 Thel and bumped into someone wearing a gen 3).

I actually enjoyed it as back then I was too broke to own my own sim and I met some fabulously wealthy american women who adored my avatar and role playing and set up a family home. I had my own skybox where I could just do as I pleased it was pretty awesome stuff. Having a family was good though but after 5 years I just got so bored and became a teenage techno freak which was interesting I finally got out of sl by registering an email address that had random letters in the name and changing my password to a ridiculously random thing. I then destroyed any way of recovering the email address I used, deleted my sl accounts. I tried to get back in last week but cant - which is good

the legs out of this CAST set with matching sockets, either rigged or unrigged.

So this pubbie I know upgraded their computer, a mac naturally, solely for second life because their performance issues finally got so bad that they couldn't stand it.
Their new computer is capable of running on ultra graphics at decent frame rates.
The pubbie turned off everything down to just atmospheric shaders because they didn't like how the game looked with decent graphics.

Does anyone have the BG Feline? I've been wanting to get a mesh furry avatar that isn't the kemono. I have a Luddi Lamb that I love, but sadly, she doesn't fit a lot of clothing.
I know that the Viss is popular, but I like the way the BG one looks more.
Is there any advantage to buying the Viss instead?

Aborted, due to the very compelling argument that the house shouldn't be trying to be more interesting than its occupants, when pixelfucking is the goal. Best to keep it low-key and neutral, because the environment is just the canvas, and you guys are the (sticky white) paint.
I've still got a few tweaks to make. Those sliding gate doors on the bedrooms with the wheelchair access signs are ridiculous, and I still need to do the teleport doors. Does anyone have any suggestions for good-quality mesh doors that fit the general neutral-beige-wood visual theme? I plan to kill two birds with one stone here. Apologies to any birds triggered by that.
