Hi. I'm the new board owner of /miku/.
I was the volunteer for this board (Tetomod), but I claimed the board because the board owner became inactive for two weeks.
This thread is for any questions that you might have.
This thread is also for submitting custom board assets, which I will post the requirements of each.

All files must be either in .png or .gif format, and also must be less than 500 kb.
Spoiler file must be 128 x 128.
"File deleted" file must be 140 x 50.
"No file" file must be 500 x 500. (but new threads without images is currently disabled)

I'm actually planning on making a discussion about /miku/'s board settings, rules and cooperation with other boards next week.
Things maybe be changed, added, or removed democratically.
The requirement to vote is the same as the volunteer applications: you must have made at least one post on June 1st or before. However, everyone will be able to express any opinions or concerns even if they're new to /miku/.
I'll specify the date after the volunteer application ends (it will probably be Friday-Tuesday too).

Democracy sucks. At the time the absentee board owner showed up and made those rules, there was no problem on the board prompting their creation. Why not just remove them and not have any further drama about the rules?
No.13688
>>13686
If I understand correctly, your issue with the imposed rules weren't the rules themselves, but the fact that they were added spontaneously for no reason. To impose them was bad enough, but just removing them is just as bad.
To be honest, I don't like the rules either, and I'll probably propose a simpler set of rules and getting rid of the current rules altogether. I still want to hear the opinions of other anons though, that's why I'm doing it this way.
I also want to discuss board settings (like the bump limit, board flags, whether to keep oekaki or not, etc.), so I still need to hear opinions before I change anything.
Please, consider this a chance to make /miku/ a better board.

Since I won't post here under the current rules and this quorum will be weeks from now I'm overwhelmingly likely to forget about it. >I won't post here under the current rules
As I said, no rules are being enforced for now. Any thread that is Vocaloid related (even if it is porn dump, loli, shota, etc.) won't be deleted, and I won't ban anyone for making it even if the current rules stay (they probably won't though).
It will be just 6 days from now. If you don't want to participate, then that's your loss. The only people who were 100% okay with the current rules (the old board owner and the "quality rule" poster) haven't made a single post in almost two months.
If even though you are given this opportunity you decide to leave /miku/, then I have nothing else to say.

I'm curious about why IDs have never been enabled here. Do you just not like them or is there some other reason?
No.67503
>>67501
I don't think we need them, and I would only enable it if most users are okay with it.
IDs are often enabled on very active boards where there is excessive trolling or samefagging.
/miku/ doesn't have such problems yet, and while Upstairs and MM might benefit from IDs, other threads might not, and some anons might prefer to stay anonymous as much as it is possible.
It depends on whether anons want it or not. Enabling flags again could be a better alternative to IDs, since anyone has the choice to use it (or not).
No.67506
>>67503
Flags are cool, but don't have the benefits of IDs (actually identifying someone, filtering). And I wouldn't expect you to use them unless many people were okay with it obviously. I don't think they are needed on all types of boards, but for a place like this I would actually prefer them personally.
No.67507
I'm going to ask a question to any anon is reading this:
If /miku/ had thread IDs, would you be okay with this?
This is just to know about everyone's opinion on IDs. If the idea of having IDs on /miku/ is popular, we may have actual voting on a separate thread later.

Flags are okay.

I would only consider them under extreme circumstances.
No.67563
No.67638
I'll go ahead and give my reasons for why I think they are fine. I would be interested in why people are against them too if you care to explain.
1. Anonymity hardly exists here. Most posting is done in the upstairs/MM threads which are 99% avatarfagging anyway. It's not like it is hard to guess who is posting what anyway with how few people there are here normally. Plus several of the daily posters can already see IDs if they really want to.
2. IDs are only unique to one thread. It doesn't identify you across the entire board. I don't see it being a big deal in news/song/etc. threads since nobody would know who actually posts things unless they say who they are, the ID would just track how many posts you have made. As for the main threads, again people give away their “identity” freely anyway so I don't see the harm.
3. Filtering. This isn't a common use but one that I think is important. It is much easier to “ignore posts you don't like” if you can just turn a filter on/off as you want. There have been times when I wished this were available and I think it is a nice option to have.
4. They aren't permanent and could be turned off. As another benefit, they can make keeping track of conversations easier. That isn't always relevant but a nice thing anyway, especially when there are many people posting like during busy MM times.
TL;DR: In my opinion things would barely change and IDs offer a few benefits that would be nice to have.
No.67736
>>67507
I'm pro and most of my thoughts have been summarized above. The one thing I would like to add is that it can help resolve confusion, if it does arise.
If people don't want it for aesthetic/nostalgia reasons, I can code a bit of javascript that hides the IDs visually. Even if you only have passing knowledge of javascript you can easily do so.
>>67638
Filtering is practically useless in the Upstairs/MM threads, because the conversations are mostly single threaded. Filtering posts would be more efficient for your purposes at that.

About this too.
Were you even planning on doing them? And will we vote on those too if you do?
No.69102

>>69034
I can add them tomorrow, though only the 16x16 ones will be added for now, the rest will have to get resized,
>>68760
The thing is that there is less people that want IDs than the ones who don't (I should have worded the question better). It's also a more delicate issue than flags, since IDs will affect all threads, including old ones.
I'm still going to give anons the chance to decide whether /miku/ should have them or not. I'm going to write board announcement that links to this post. I'm only going to count posts made in this thread.

I was asking about the flags because there may be people that don't want those too, and 8ch doesn't offer an option for hiding them in the general settings. They can be hidden easily by anyone by adding a CSS rule but some people may not know that.
No.69107
>>69106
That's true. I'll let anyone vote for or against custom flags then.

I am neutral on the idea of IDs. To be honest I'm leaning more on the against side but it wouldn't bother me if they did get added at some point.
I don't know about flags since I'm not sure what they are. Like country flags or? I don't know what their purpose would be. To differentiate users?
No.69123
My biggest issue with IDs is that there have been times when people have wanted to post anonymously because they had a problem, or an issue that they wanted to bring up but also remain anonymous about it.
If IDs are implemented and someone wants to post something anonymously then their options to do so are limited.
Also some posters have occasionally had fun posting anonymously with the emoji. While it isn't that important it's still something worth taking into consideration.
No.69124
>>69123
I also forgot to mention that all the old posts getting an ID also makes it even less appealing.

Flags are custom board assets that allow people to put a little icon next to their posting name if they want. They can be turned on/off or changed for each of your posts. This is an example from /v/. They can be whatever the board owner wants, so in our case it would be vocaloid themed stuff most likely. They don't really do anything, it's just another way to customize your board.
I don't see much point to them but don't care either way if they are added.
>>69124
What is the problem with that?
No.69316

Oh shit, I totally missed that post.
I'm mostly against ID's. It's nice to have that small bit of anonymity that we have right now. I wouldn't mind if they are implemented, but I don't think it is a good idea.
Flags on the other hand can be fun.

Is there a deadline for voting?
If we're waiting for everyone to vote, it might be worth reminding people tomorrow during MM.
To clarify, I'm pro-flags and anti-IDs.
No.69623

Yes, the deadline is when next week's Miku Monday ends. Hopefully, most would have read the board announcement by then, but I'll remind everyone during this and the next MMs.

March 14th, so about a week from now.

Thanks for the clarification.

I don't want IDs. I've posted anonymously multiple times despite being a regular and I want the freedom to do it again if I feel a need to.
No.69887
FLAGS WHEN?!
They also might be a good compromise between IDs and tripfagging.
No.69903
>>69163
Ah, these flags. I like them, so I'll vote for this.
And about the IDs: I'll vote against them because if I want to post some pics from the other vocaloids (like I did twice or so) anonymously, people would know who I am, which would take the "mystery" behind my posts.

I forgot to mention that although I'm against IDs I'm fine with flags.

I'm >>69122 to add my stance on flags. I'm neutral on flags as well. Leaning more on the For side since they sound like they could be fun but it won't be a tragedy for me if they don't get added since I haven't experienced or used them and therefore don't know what I would be missing out on.

Neutral votes aren't counted, but your opinions are always welcome.
If I'm missing your post or I've misinterpreted your vote, please point this out to me so I can correct this.
You still have time to vote until the end of this Monday (14th) .

It doesn't matter much; at this point; but I'm dropping my support for IDs. On the anti side some people are genuinely concerned about it, which - in my opinion - renders the discussion moot. (Not to mention that I believe flags will be a great alternative anyway.)
No.71627
There is really no point on waiting for the end of the day, it's clear based on the voting how things will go. Thanks for having the discussion/voting Teto.
If people ever want to turn the flags on/off they can put this bit of code into the "theme" section of the options menu:
/* remove flags */
img.flag {
display: none;
}
And save it for the effect to be applied. This just hides them, and you can add or delete it as you choose. You can also replace "img.flag" with "img.emoji" to hide emojis, which can make some old posts look pretty funny.
No.71632

Understood.
>>71627
Alright, I'll implement them now.
The vote is still going to be open until MM ends as I promised.

The voting is over. Thanks to everyone who participated.
Board flags are now enabled.

Would it be possible to get the bump limit increased?
No.72873
>>72865
Yes. Do you want to raise it to a specific number?
No.72884
>>72873
I wouldn't mind having it all the way at 750, but I guess it's more up to what you think would be reasonable. I'm just worried about non-upstairs threads that are still used often (Teto, song, etc.) getting buried under other threads after 300 posts.
No.72887
>>72884
Okay. I changed it to 500. those threads should be able to be bumped again. If more anons want me to set the bump limit to the max I'll consider it.
No.72888
>>72884
This could be a good idea. Can the bump limit be set differently for specific threads?
Enjoying flags quite a lot so far by the way. I was the neutral posts.
No.72893

>Can the bump limit be set differently for specific threads?
No. It's possible for volunteers to bumplock threads individually before they reach the bump limit, but that's about it.
>Enjoying flags quite a lot so far by the way. I was the neutral posts.
I'm glad you like them. You can suggest new ones in the banner thread.

You're welcome. I should have done this before, but you're the first to suggest to change the bump limit.
