Mobility in the United States has fallen to record lows. In 1985, nearly 20 percent of Americans had changed their residence within the preceding 12 months, but by 2018, fewer than ten percent had. That’s the lowest level since 1948, when the Census Bureau first started tracking mobility.

The decline in Americans’ mobility has been staggering, as the chart below shows. Mobility rates have fallen for nearly every group, across age, gender, income, homeownership status, and marital status.

Declining mobility contributes to a host of economic and social issues: less economic dynamism, lower rates of innovation, and lower productivity. By locking people into place, it exacerbates inequality by limiting the economic opportunities for workers.

Getting a new house is a pain in the ass. It's often just not worth the effort.

I would like to argue that its because America is fully developed at this point. Cities aren't growing that fast anymore because there really isn't much room or need to grow. That's not to say no American cities are growing at all, Las Vegas, Denver, and Texas are considered rapidly growing areas and I'd wager most movement is centered around and towards these places nowadays

>higher salary

>wut does "cost of living" mean?

$100k in california doesn't mean shit if the average 1 bedroom apartment in a non-nigger neighborhood is $4k per month

If my income in CA is $100k and my expenses are $70k, I'm still saving $30k a year.

If my income in KY is $20k and my expenses are $10k, I'm only saving $10k a year.

If I need $300k to retire in SE Asia, my options are work ten years in CA, or work 30 years in KY.

You dumb faggot.

Or, if I want a million dollar American retirement, I can either work for 33 years in CA, or work for 100 years in KY

CA sucks, is full of mexicans and crazy SJWs, and you'll be driving 2 hours at least, if not more unless you want to pay extra for housing. In KY you can be at work in 15 minutes. So that's the difference: you can actually have something resembling a life. Plus you can own guns and use them to defend yourself. So it's a better place to live all-around, and you can actually retire there in the house you bought. Going to retire in a foreign culture isn't something most people want. Hell, just going to live in CA is probably not what most people want at this point.

I don't know what your problem is, but the fact is lots of people are working in KY and retiring anyway, so apparently you don't have any clue of what you're talking about and just pull numbers out of your ass.
