Maricopa County election employees are believed to have been seen tampering with voting equipment late at night this week, appearing to install or download something on election equipment that has already been certified for use on November 3.

The county claims that they were just “working on a legitimate election task, late into the night.” But according to Phoenix-based election watchdog group We the People Alliance, the employees left for the day at approximately 6:20 pm, then returned late at night around 9:08 pm until 11:15 pm.

Additionally, co-founder of We the People Shelby Busch tells The Gateway Pundit, “There are two flaws with the Maricopa County Election Department’s statement of transparency. First, they fail to disclose to the public what this ‘legitimate election task’ was that required occurring late into the night, and second, they indicate this can be viewed 24/7 by the public; however, the feed published by WTP USA does not appear to be part of the public feeds.”

We the People obtained the non-public video from a source. This view is nowhere to be found in Maricopa County’s public livestream of election activities at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center. Still, Maricopa County claimed in a statement, “You can view our tabulation center 24/7 365 days a year.”

“We do not presume to know what was on those flash drives, but what we do know is that secure computers were unlocked and external devices were inserted into highly sensitive systems late at night and without any public oversight. Additional video footage we obtained also raises heavy concern over the chain of custody of the external flash drive,” she added.

One of the employees, We the People Alliance says, is Brian Ramirez, the same employee who was previously accused of deleting election files before voting machines were delivered to Arizona Senate auditors following the stolen 2020 election. The Gateway Pundit has not independently verified that Ramirez was involved in the latest incident.

Similar concerns about Maricopa County machine tampering after logic and accuracy testing to certify the accuracy of the election equipment arose in the 2022 election, which was stolen from Kari Lake.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Maricopa County admitted during Kari Lake’s court proceedings in 2022 to “install[ing] new memory cards on its Election Day tabulators” on October 14, 17, and 18, after the statutorily required October 11 logic and accuracy (L&A) testing. The tabulators went on to fail on election day, disenfranchising thousands of voters across Maricopa County and robbing Kari Lake of her victory over then-Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs.

Likewise, the external devices were seemingly plugged into the computers, just two days after the county’s testing. Maricopa County performed L&A testing for the November 3 election on October 5. Who knows what is on these USB drives?

Surveillance video from inside the Maricopa County tabulation center appears to show one of the employees using flash drives on the computers at 10:38 pm on October 7.

Lawyers for a group of transgender inmates in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons urged the Supreme Court on Thursday to leave in place an order by a federal judge in Washington, D.C.,that bars the BOP from enforcing a new policy on healthcare for transgender inmates that would prevent such inmates from obtaining (among other things) hormone therapy and “social accommodations” (such as makeup, wigs, and padding). Li Nowlin-Sohl, representing the inmates, told the justices that the Trump administration is asking the justices “to overturn a three decades-long status quo.”

The Trump administration adopted the policy earlier this year. It followed a policy adopted in February 2025 to implement an executive order signed by President Donald Trump shortly after his second inauguration.That order directed the attorney general to “ensure that no Federal funds are expended for any medical procedure, treatment, or drug for the purpose of conforming an inmate’s appearance to that of the opposite sex.”

When it adopted the February 2026 policy, which the BOP said that it did “independently of” Trump’s Feb. 2025 executive order, the BOP also included an extensive administrative record and a 43-page memorandum in which it attributed the change from its prior policy to, among other things, “the latest scientific information.” Specifically, it said, its earlier policies had relied on recommendations by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, but that group’s standards had been deemed “unreliable” and “unpersuasive” by prison administrators. Moreover, the BOP expressed concerns that providing access to procedures such as gender-transition surgeries could subject transgender prisoners to “attacks,” “raise fairness concerns,” and “breed resentment among other inmates.”

Three transgender inmates went to federal court in Washington, D.C., seeking to file a class action lawsuit to block the enforcement of the policy. On Aug. 26, Senior U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth issued his most recent order barring the BOP from implementing its 2026 policy,and on Sept. 18 a divided panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected the government’s request to pause Lamberth’s order.

The Trump administration then went to the Supreme Court on Sept. 28, asking the justices to step in and block Lamberth’s order. U.S. SolicitorGeneral D. John Sauer told the Supreme Court that the district court had “substitut[ed] its own policy judgment for that of the” BOP, “rel[ied] on evidence outside the administrative record, and fault[ed] the agency for following presidential directions.” Moreover, he added, the district court “also denied prison administrators the substantial deference they are due.”

In their filing on Thursday, the inmates argued that the new policy fell short under the federal laws governing administrative agencies because the BOP had not provided a “reasoned explanation” for its decision. For example, Nowlin-Sohl wrote, the extensive record that the BOP had provided was “silent about BOP’s extensive experience providing” hormone therapy and social accommodations “and whether it supports” BOP’s conclusions that “this care is not medically necessary and poses security and administrative issues.” The record, the brief continued, is also “devoid of any evidence indicating whether BOP healthcare providers found this care effective, ineffective, or harmful to patients.”

Moreover, the inmates said, the BOP had “cut off treatment that its healthcare providers had recommended for decades and replaced it with psychotherapy” and “psychotropic medications” – which “BOP’s Medical Director recognizes … treat co-existing conditions such as depression and anxiety, not gender dysphoria itself.” And the BOP’s failure to include “key evidence” in the record “make[s] it clear that the rationales were contrived to support the demand President Trump made in the EO.”

Finally, theinmates told the justices that they will be permanently harmed if the district court’s order is paused. “Withdrawing care will cause significant changes to their bodies and put [them] and class members at serious risk of worsening gender dysphoria as well as other mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidality.”

US President Donald Trump has said Washington may join Saudi Arabia’s military campaign against Yemen’s Houthis, signaling a possible reversal of his previous reluctance to intervene directly in the escalating conflict.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Saturday, Trump was asked whether American forces could join Saudi strikes against the Yemeni group, also known as Ansar Allah, following another deadly attack on Riyadh’s international airport.

”We may. We’re going to look at it,” Trump replied. “We just found out about the recent attack. So we’ll make a decision. We move very quickly.”

The remarks came after a Houthi strike on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital killed 12 people and injured another 309, according to updated figures released Sunday by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). The dead included four Saudi citizens and eight foreign nationals, among them an American. Some of the injured are in critical condition.

The Houthis have claimed responsibility for the attack, one of several targeting Saudi airports in recent days. Speaking exclusively to RT, senior Ansar Allah official Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said the strikes were intended to force Riyadh to accept a “comprehensive and permanent peace” and end the war and mutual blockade.

The renewed fighting comes as Saudi-backed Yemeni forces have launched a major offensive to retake territory seized by the Houthis, including strategic areas near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The Saudi-led coalition said Friday that it had launched “large-scale operations” against the group, destroying 136 military targets, according to its spokesman.

Trump’s latest remarks mark a potential shift in Washington’s position. In September, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman repeatedly sought US military assistance against the Houthis, but Trump ultimately backed away from authorizing strikes despite preparations for an operation, according to the New York Times.

Washington has reportedly continued providing Riyadh with intelligence and other non-combat support, but direct US strikes against the Houthis would open another front in the regional conflict.

In March 2025, Trump ordered weeks of US air and naval strikes against Houthi positions, targeting missile launchers, radar installations and other military infrastructure in an attempt to halt attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.

However, the campaign ended abruptly in May under an Oman-brokered ceasefire after the Houthis agreed to stop targeting American vessels.

In September, Trump also claimed that the Houthis had contacted Washington seeking to avoid another confrontation with US forces, saying the group “would much prefer not having us involved.” Ansar Allah denied making such contact.

The latest escalation comes amid the broader regional conflict triggered by the US-Israeli war on Iran in February. The Houthis have expanded their control along Yemen’s Red Sea coast, threatening a crucial shipping route that Saudi Arabia increasingly relies on for oil exports amid disruptions to traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Ukrainians are increasingly disappointed with serving officials and ashamed of their actions, a recent opinion poll indicates. A majority now insists that Vladimir Zelensky must not seek a second term as president, as he once pledged.

Mounting disillusionment with the government, which was highlighted on Monday by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology’s (KIIS) latest omnibus survey, comes on the back of multiple corruption scandals in Kiev involving people close to Zelensky.

Kiev relies heavily on Western financial and military support to pursue its conflict with Russia. Even its staunchest supporters acknowledge that the Zelensky government’s assurances that it is actively tackling corruption are not necessarily sincere.

No second term for Zelensky

The KIIS phone survey, conducted among over 1,000 adults in September, indicates a stark shortage of positive emotions among Ukrainians for public servants. The pollster offered respondents a list of 12 options to indicate their feelings, from which they could pick up to three. The most popular was “disappointment,” chosen by 44%, followed by “shame,” picked by 33%.

More respondents reported negative emotions towards the authorities compared to a similar poll conducted in December 2025, while the share of positive options remained stable. In both surveys, 23% said they were hopeful regarding the authorities and 16% said they sympathized with them.

Asked whether Zelensky should take part in the next presidential election, 53% told KIIS he should not, compared to 46% last year.

Zelensky pledged to be a single-term president during his election campaign in 2019, but has since suggested he may run again. His mandate expired in 2024, but he has retained power under martial law, which critics say violates the Ukrainian Constitution.

Other polls have consistently suggested that in a hypothetical presidential contest, Zelensky would lose in the second round to any of as many as three more popular possible candidates.

Zelensky sinking in graft bog

The Ukrainian leader’s domestic popularity has dropped amid a series of corruption scandals triggered by investigations conducted by Western-backed anti-graft agencies.

The latest major development came in September, when the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) exposed a suspected protection racket run by a senior officer in the Prosecutor General’s Office. The chief suspect was fired, while his boss, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, fled the country before being removed from his position by the Ukrainian parliament.

Previously, Zelensky fired a deputy head of his office after NABU accused her of laundering millions in cash to pay the bail for a former energy minister who is a suspect in a separate anti-graft investigation linked to the Ukrainian leader.

NABU’s reputation in Ukraine is so strong that some crooks are trying to profit off of it. This week, the agency reported helping the police arrest a swindler who had posed as one of its detectives to extort $280,000 from a local businessman, saying the money would allow him to sink a criminal case “commissioned” by competition.

KIIS previously reported that half of respondents in a survey named government corruption as their biggest concern – more than Russian long-range strikes – while 72% said Zelensky personally was responsible for the problem.

German minister admits Kiev has a graft problem

Political opponents of Zelensky, such as his former spokesperson turned vocal critic Yulia Mendel, claim he personally protects corruption networks entrenched in his government. NABU has stressed he is not a suspect in any of his cases, referring to immunity from prosecution that Zelensky retains as long as he claims presidential authority.

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman, Oct. 10, after the ship’s crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to run the ongoing naval blockade against Iran.

A U.S. military fighter jet struck the stern of Panama-flagged M/V Ocean Molica (also known as the “Arika Sun”) with a precision munition, fully disabling the ship’s propulsion without harming the crew. The large cargo vessel was attempting to transit regional waters after having previously departed an Iranian port.

CENTCOM forces resumed America’s blockade against all ships entering or departing Iranian ports on July 14. Four commercial vessels have been disabled and 135 ships have been turned around during three months of strict enforcement. Additionally, U.S. forces have destroyed 10 tankers linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' multibillion-dollar shadow network over the same period.

All mariners are advised to heed blockade warnings from CENTCOM forces. Crews should also continue to monitor Notice to Mariners broadcasts and contact U.S. naval forces on bridge-to-bridge channel 16 when operating in the Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz approaches.

The Boeing P-8 Poseidon is an American maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft developed and produced by Boeing Defense, Space & Security. It was developed for the United States Navy as a derivative of the civilian Boeing 737 Next Generation airliner.

Dem Stefany Shaheen Says ‘We’ve Got to Roll Back These Tax Breaks’ for New Hampshire Families

New Hampshire Democrat congressional candidate Stefany Shaheen, the daughter of U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH),said this week that she wants to reverse Republican tax reductions, after previously supporting tax and fee increases as a Portsmouth city councilor and receiving financial and political support connected to her mother.

Shaheen said this week, “I believe it’s a matter of electing people who have the will to fight for the issues that matter most to the majority of people, andwe’ve got to roll back these tax breaks. And again, let’s be clear: my opponent supports them.”

Rolling back the tax provisions would result in a 20 percent tax increase for New Hampshire families and bring back taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security.

“Silver Spoon Stefany Shaheen just told voters everything they need to know: In Congress, she’d ‘roll back’ tax cuts that have made life better and more affordable for New Hampshire families. It doesn’t get any more out of touch than that. Granite Staters deserve a fighter, not a nepo baby,” NRCC spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole told Breitbart News.

Shaheen’s record as a Portsmouth city councilor also includes votes and proposals that increased taxes and fees. During her time on the council, Shaheen brought forward a motion to increasethe city’s hourly parking fees by 25 percent.

A year later, Shaheen voted in favor of Portsmouth’s first budget to exceed $100 million. The budget included a property tax increase and another increase in parking fees.

Shaheen, the daughter of U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), has also received financial and political support connected to her mother. A September Townhall headline described her candidacy this way: “Stefany Shaheen Has Been Handed Everything by Her Mom. Now She Wants a Promotion to Congress.”

In 2023, the City of Manchester partnered with the Manchester nonprofit Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing, where Stefany Shaheen served as chief strategy officer, to win $44 million in economic development funding from the Department of Commerce.

Then-Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said Manchester and ARMI’s application “stood out” because of “the persistent advocacy” of Sen. Shaheen.

In 2020, during Sen. Shaheen’s tenure in the Senate, Stefany Shaheen’s company, Good Measures, received an $890,000 Paycheck Protection Program loan during the first round of loans. The loan was later forgiven.

Stefany Shaheen’s congressional campaign has also received more than $600,000 in donations from her mother’s donor network, while Sen. Shaheen has directly advocated on her daughter’s behalf.

Stefany Shaheen has declined to condemn political violence when repeatedly asked about it in October 2025. She instead told the questioner, “I hope you have a great night.” As she continued toward her vehicle, the questioner asked whether political rhetoric needed to be toned down and whether “murdering someone because of their politics” was wrong, but Shaheen did not respond. The exchange came less than a month after Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University and after a shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas.

Her mother has also said she saw no issue with violent political rhetoric. In 2015, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen defended Hillary Clinton after Clinton laughed in response to a man at a campaign event saying he wanted to strangle Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina whenever he saw her on television. Asked on MSNBC’s Morning Joe whether Clinton’s reaction was problematic, Shaheen responded, “I don’t see an issue with that either. She was — I mean, he’s speaking to the challenge of losing jobs, and that’s what people really care about.”….

Rubio Deputy Calls Out Obama Ambassador’s ‘Smug’ Dismissal of Secretary’s Foreign Travel

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau hit back Saturday after former Obama ambassador Ivo Daalder criticized Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s foreign travel.

Landau reposted Daalder’s post on X and accused him of expressing a foreign policy establishment view that places too much importance on approval from European capitals while looking down on diplomacy in the Western Hemisphere.

Daalder, who served as the U.S. ambassador to NATO from 2009 to 2013 under Obama, questioned both Rubio’s destinations and his attention to major international issues.

“Secretaries of State travel the world, to our biggest allies and to address the most pressing issues=•,” Daalder wrote. “==But Marco Rubio does neither. His solo travels take him where assistant secretaries go. Rarely the boss.”

Landau, the State Department’s second-ranking official, responded by calling the post an example of the thinking he believes has damaged American foreign policy.

“THIS post perfectly encapsulates the decadence and degeneracy of the contemporary US foreign policy establishment,” Landau wrote.

He argued that Daalder’s criticism treated visits to European allies as the proper work of a secretary of state while suggesting that engagement with Latin American countries belonged to subordinates.

“In this view, a US Secretary of State is only supposed to travel to NATO capitals because a successful US foreign policy is what makes diplomatic counterparts in Paris, Berlin, and Brussels raise a champagne toast to ‘shared values’ while flinging open their borders, destroying their economies, and apologizing for Western civilization,” Landau wrote.

Landau then named three South American capitals to challenge the suggestion that those destinations were beneath the secretary of state.

“God forbid a US Secretary of State show his face in Bogotá, Quito, or Lima because that’s where mere ‘Assistant Secretaries’ are supposed to tread,” he continued.

Bogotá is the capital of Colombia, Quito is the capital of Ecuador, and Lima is the capital of Peru. Landau cited the cities in defending high-level American engagement with the region; his response did not provide dates or an itinerary for Rubio’s travel.

Daalder’s quoted post did not specifically mention NATO or those South American destinations. His criticism was that Rubio’s solo travel did not take him to the United States’ biggest allies or address its most pressing issues. Landau answered by challenging what he described as the assumptions behind that assessment.

The deputy secretary also accused the foreign policy establishment of producing failures on both sides of the Atlantic.

“This smug approach led not only to predictably catastrophic results in the Western Hemisphere but also in Europe itself, where the combination of moral vanity and strategic incoherence also proved toxic,” Landau wrote.

He did not identify particular policies or events in that passage, instead directing his criticism broadly at the establishment’s priorities and record.

Landau previously served as the U.S. ambassador to Mexico during President Donald Trump’s first administration and became deputy secretary of state in March 2025.

He ended his response by accusing establishment figures of spending their time on academic work and professional recognition while dismissing Trump and Rubio.

“But sure: keep holding your academic seminars, writing your unread articles, awarding each other meaningless prizes, and looking down your noses at Donald Trump and Marco Rubio,” Landau wrote.

Former Vice President and unsuccessful 2024 presidential candidate Kamala Harris has reportedly been getting a thumbs down from power brokers about launching a 2028 bid for the White House— even from her husband Doug Emhoff, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“Kamala Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff,has privately told some people he would prefer she doesn’t run for president again,”the Journal reported late Friday in an exclusive election piece.

Some top donors have also warned her a bid would be a “long shot, according to people familiar with the conversations,” the outlet stated.

Harris has said she is undecided about making another run for the presidency.

“I have not decided if I’m going to run again,” she said at a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) event in Michigan last month.“I do sincerely believe ’28 won’t matter if we don’t get through ’26.”

However, she has made moves that could be seen as a run up to a campaign by speaking with major donors, hiring staff, and traveling to battleground statesto support Democratic candidates in the November midterms, the California and New York Post have reported.

In numerous polls the former VP leads by double digits in a hypothetical primary field of Democratic candidates, including high-profile potential candidates like California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

However, in the latest Polymarket betting odds, she ranks dead last with only a six percent chance compared to AOC’s 18 percent and Newsom’s 15 percent.

In the 2024 race, despite a $1.5 billion campaign war chest,Harris lost every swing state, lost the popular vote by 2.3 million votes, and lost the electoral college with only 226 electoral votes to Donald Trump’s 312, putting him far over the 270 victory margin.

Since leaving DC, husband Emhoff has returned to his position as an attorney and partner at the Los Angeles law firm of Willkie Farr and Gallagher LLP, according to the Journal.

The couple last December also bought a 4,000-square-foot home in Malibu’s Point Dume for a reported price of $8.15 million. It is a step up from their previous 3,500 square-foot residence in Brentwood, the new home reported as a “mansion” by news outlets, though it falls short of that definition by L.A. and real estate standards.

The former VP hasn’t been languishing in her new Malibu digs, however.

According to the Journal:

Some of Harris’s recent moves have made some donors uneasy about her intentions, some of the people said. In the weeks leading up to the midterms, Harris has appeared at a half-dozen private fundraisers in California including an event in Santa Monica for Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, the party’s nominee for governor of Wisconsin, and another for Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, the Democratic nominee for governor of Nevada.

She also joined a get-out-the-vote call with the Democratic National Committee this past week, urging more than 2,000 volunteers listening live to knock on doors and engage with voters to flip seats in a dozen states across the country.

Such moves are typical of a candidate earning favor from a network of state and local politicians who would later come into play as supporters in a presidential bid.

While her husband would prefer Harris does not run, the Journal also reported that “people close to him” fully expect he will support his wife should she decide to make another try at the presidency.

(She has such bad understanding of how she is not liked and cannot ever win and be President, it’s scary arrogance! Basically she is dumb! The money will just be wasted.)

Arizona Inmate Killed Three Sex Offenders — Now Prosecutors Want Him Put to Death

TUCSON, Ariz. — An Arizona inmate already serving 16 life sentences is facing the death penalty after authorities say he killed three fellow prisoners in a single morning — and later openly described what he had done.

Ricky Wassenaar, 63, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the April 4, 2025 deaths of Saul Alvarez, Thorne Harnage and Donald Lashley at the Cimarron Unit of the Arizona State Prison Complex in Tucson.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors announced in May that they intend to seek the death penalty.

According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, staff responded shortly after 7:15 a.m. to violence near the prison dining area.

Harnage and Lashley were found critically injured there, while Alvarez was later discovered injured inside his cell.

All three died.

The account of what happened came later from Wassenaar himself.

Wassenaar told the Arizona Mirror that Alvarez had been placed in his cell and that he killed him before heading toward the prison dining area.

He said he carried a large rock inside a mesh laundry bag and used it to attack other prisoners as they gathered for breakfast.

Harnage was serving a sentence for sexual conduct with a minor, while Lashley had been convicted of sexual conduct with a minor and molestation of a child.

Alvarez was serving time for first-degree murder, sexual assault and kidnapping. His victim was a 15-year-old girl.

Wassenaar made little attempt to distance himself from the killings in subsequent interviews. Speaking to the Arizona Mirror, he said he had deliberately targeted child sex offenders and remarked:

“The taxpayers no longer have to pay for them.”

He also said his regret was that he had not killed more prisoners.

They think rich people don’t pay taxes, even though the top 1% fund 40% of government with their taxes already, and yet 40% of all Americans contribute ZERO federal income tax at all. These people don’t understand that you could tax the wealthy at 100% and it would only fund the government for 120 days. Then you’re screwed.

Too many Americans simply have zero understanding of how anything works, and even though they’re living in the easiest times in human history, they think things are “terrible out there”. These commie scammers roll through and promise them things that sound great, but aren’t possible in reality, and have devastating consequences if tried…but because they don’t know anything, they fall for it. Sadly, so many of our politicians and their advisors are such atrocious communicators, there’s like zero countervailing narrative to push back on the commie gobbledygook, so we are gonna have to learn the hard way. Scott Jennings recently caused a total meltdown from his fellow CNN panelists by asking a simple question.

Democrat strategist Alencia Jonson was talking about the SAVE America Act and repeatedly claimed that it would ‘take voting rights away’ from black people and others. Scott simply asked, “how?”

Naturally, she can’t give Scott an answer, so she filibusters by repeating the claim, and Jennings keeps asking, “how?”

Host Abby Phillip then rides in to rescue the liberal panelist like she always does and things get even crazier from there.

IceCube has now detected many illuminating neutrinos. What color is the moon? Ask an Earthling, and you'll get a predictably monochromatic answer: white or gray.

But ask the four crewmembers of NASA's Artemis II mission — who spent nearly seven hours circling the moon from just 4,000 miles (6,400 kilometers) from the lunar surface this April — and you'll wonder if they're talking about the same dusty satellite we can see from Earth.

Yellow, brown, green, blue and tan features fan across vast volcanic plains and lurk at the edges of ominous craters, according to the crew's in-the-moment observations, which were shared this week in NASA's Artemis II Preliminary Lunar Science Report.

The 130-page document catalogs everything crewmembers Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen saw during their historic close flyby of the moon on April 6, drawing from 814 gigabytes of photo, video and audio recordings taken from the Orion crew capsule.

Astronauts on NASA's Artemis II mission saw surprising "jaundiced yellow" and "swampy green" colors on the moon during their close lunar flyby, a new report reveals.

This rainbow of lunar color represents distinct geological features that could inform future missions on where to land and where to explore as the world's space agencies race to set up a permanent presence on the moon.

One spot that particularly enthralled the astronauts (and is featured in the image above) is the Aristarchus Plateau — a broad, elevated region on the northwestern edge of the moon's nearside.

The region hosts one of the moon's densest collections of ancient volcanic features, including swaths of dark lava deposits and colorful volcanic glasses.

US astronomers track Earth-like cloud changes on world 7.5 light-years away

The Webb telescope separates shifting water clouds from gases rising below.

Water clouds are growing thicker and thinner on a frigid world just 7.5 light-years from Earth, giving astronomers a direct view of changing weather beyond the solar system.

A team led by Brittany Miles at the University of Arizona’s Steward Observatory used the James Webb Space Telescope to observe WISE 0855, the coldest known brown dwarf, for 11 hours.

Collecting a spectrum every 15 minutes, the researchers distinguished shifting cloud cover from gases rising out of deeper atmospheric layers.

Watching water clouds change

WISE 0855 sits near the boundary between brown dwarfs and giant planets. Brown dwarfs lack sufficient mass to ignite as stars and instead emit faint light from heat left over after their formation.

At about twice Jupiter’s mass and nearly the same size, WISE 0855 resembles a free-floating giant planet. Its temperature is roughly 265 kelvins, or 17°F, placing it at the coldest end of the known brown dwarf population.

“This is the first time we’ve been able to confirm that water clouds are becoming thinner and thicker on a nearby world,” University of Arizona researcher Brittany Miles said.

“Before JWST, we only had photometry, which mixed up the effects of clouds, chemistry, and temperature all together. Now we can actually distinguish them,” she added.

As the object rotates, regions with different cloud cover and temperatures come into view.

Webb’s medium-resolution spectrograph tracked these variations across individual molecular features, allowing the team to separate atmospheric signals that earlier observations mixed together.

Deep gases reveal atmospheric mixing

The observations revealed at least two processes operating simultaneously. Water clouds at high altitudes changed thickness, while convection carried chemical gases upward from deeper layers.

Alongside temperature variations associated with rotation, the instrument detected a rhythmic, wavelike signal linked to carbon monoxide and phosphine.

Heat inside the brown dwarf churns these gases upward, connecting its deeper atmosphere with the layers astronomers can observe.

A similar process occurs on Jupiter, where convective mixing brings gases from hot, deep layers into the visible atmosphere.

Known as disequilibrium chemistry, this behavior has previously been observed in brown dwarfs. Tracking its variations in real time across individual molecules adds another dimension.

“We’re seeing water clouds getting thicker and thinner, and deep gases rising and falling, and we can actually watch them change in real time,” Miles said.

A connection to giant planets

The findings also offer a way to understand atmospheres beyond WISE 0855. Clouds, convection and chemistry link this cold object’s behavior to processes operating on Jupiter.

“Even though brown dwarfs are not true planets, they exhibit planet-like behavior,” Miles said.

Those similarities could help researchers interpret gas giant exoplanets observed with Webb, despite differences between individual worlds.

Miles is looking toward additional baseline observations to clarify WISE 0855’s rotation and the three-dimensional movement of its atmosphere.

Longer monitoring could sharpen the picture of how its clouds and gases change together.

What will happen in the 2026 midterms?

But there they were palling around together this week. Many conservatives were perplexed by the sight of Trump embracing the socialist mayor at the very moment Republicans are arguing that socialists are the face of the Democratic Party ahead of the midterms. But Trump has shown he will meet with anyone — from North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un to Chinese dictator Xi Jinping, for whom Trump is rolling out the red carpet this week. His warm approach to Mamdani should come as no surprise.

The bigger question is: If Mamdani can have a respectful, even cordial, meeting with Trump, why can’t Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, the Democrats’ Senate and House leaders?

Trump has hosted Mamdani for two extremely friendly meetings at the White House, and Mamdani returned the favor by inviting Trump to Gracie Mansion — a residence that Trump, who has expended enormous energy on improving the White House, said was “beautifully kept.” At a news conference following their hour-long meeting, Trump said he had seen many mayors at the mansion over the years. “I’ve seen it with numerous different mayors ... some great ones and some not-so-great ones, so hopefully you’re going to be a great one.” They discussed Mamdani’s plans to develop 12,000 new homes atop a working railway yard in Queens. “I appreciate the president, his interest in this,” Mamdani said, “and we also know the president not just as the leader of the country, but also as someone who has built quite a lot of housing here in our city.”

In an interview with CNN after the meeting, Mamdani was asked how he got along so well with Trump. “I think of the many differences of opinion the president and I have, we have one thing that brings us together, which is a love of New York City,” he said. “We are both New Yorkers. And what I focus on in those conversations with the president is how we can make life better for the people who call this city their home.”

Well, Schumer and Jeffries are also New Yorkers. Why can’t they bring themselves to say the same thing?

ESA director general reveals €10bn plan to get to space without NASA

The space industry, currently valued at €600 billion, is expected to grow by 10% a year, according to European Space Agency (ESA) director general Josef Aschbacher. He spoke to the Big Question about how Europe can benefit from this booming industry.

The European Space Agency received record budget commitments of more than €22 billion from member states at its ministerial council meeting in 2025, a 32% increase on 2022.

Member states also gave ESA a historic mandate to use space technology for non-aggressive security and defence, including technologies to monitor external borders.

With that backing, ESA director general Josef Aschbacher wants Europe to take its next big step: developing the ability to launch its own astronauts into space.

In the latest episode of The Big Question, Josef sat down with Hannah Brown to discuss Europe’s independent future in space.

‘Why don’t we do it ourselves?’

Since its founding in 1975 (and its first astronaut mission in 1983), the European Space Agency has relied on international partners, including NASA and Russia, for astronaut launches.

And while this arrangement has worked for all this time, geopolitical tensions are pushing Europe to seek an alternative.

Only the US, China and Russia have the capability to launch astronauts into space. But political tensions with China and Russia leave ESA reliant on the US.

And in recent years, NASA has partnered with SpaceX to launch astronauts into space. One way or another, today, ESA astronauts travel to space aboard a US spacecraft.

“SpaceX has already announced that they want to decommission Falcon 9 and Crew Dragon (the crew vehicles that bring the astronauts to space) probably around 2029,” Josef explained.

“That means in a few years, we will not have at least this capability available anymore. There may be others coming up, which we do not know today.”

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has demanded a 60-day ceasefire to hold presidential elections

US President Donald Trump has said Russia and Ukraine have agreed to an immediate energy ceasefire.

The announcement comes just days after Trump’s phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two leaders agreed on a deal aimed at easing the global fuel crisis through Russian diesel exports.

“Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday, adding that “both parties have agreed” and urging Moscow and Kiev not to “break it.”

Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky later confirmed on X that he discussed Trump’s announcement with NATO chief Mark Rutte, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb, adding that Kiev supports the initiative.

On Friday, Trump and Putin held a phone call, shortly after which the US Treasury Department announced a temporary waiver of sanctions on Russian diesel, allowing the fuel to be sold, delivered, and imported into the US until April 7, 2027.

According to Trump, Moscow agreed to immediately supply more than 300,000 metric tons of diesel, followed by another 500,000 metric tons in November and one million more shortly thereafter.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak also confirmed the figures and said Moscow would begin lifting diesel export restrictions ahead of schedule “immediately.”

The US president allegedly struck a deal with Moscow after Zelensky ignored Washington’s requests to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries, Axios reported on Saturday.

Trump has blamed Ukraine, and Zelensky personally, for exacerbating the global fuel crisis, saying that Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries have driven up fuel prices, including for American consumers.

On Saturday, Trump once again accused Zelensky of seeking to “make problems for the world” and ignoring US requests, suggesting that it was “time for Ukraine to get a new president.”

The Ukrainian leader hit back by demanding a two-month-long total ceasefire to hold the vote.

“If President Trump really wants to have some changes during elections… please tell Putin, give us two months, 60 days off. Total ceasefire, 60 days, and we will organize elections,” he told ABC on Sunday.

Russia considers Zelensky illegitimate, as his presidential term expired more than two years ago and he has not called a new election, citing martial law.

Ukraine has ramped up long-range strikes on targets inside Russia, including civilian and energy infrastructure such as oil refineries, amid continued setbacks at the front. Zelensky has recently threatened to intensify attacks on Russian refineries in particular.

Moscow has denounced the attacks as acts of terrorism and vowed to intensify strikes on Ukrainian military-related facilities, including drone and missile warehouses, while maintaining that it never targets civilians.

Yandex’s data center services in Russia’s Vladimir region have been shut down following a drone attack, amid a series of strikes on data infrastructure on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Yandex, a Russian AI and technology company, said on Sunday that its infrastructure had been damaged in a drone attack, resulting in a complete shutdown of its data centre services in the Vladimir region.

Reports suggest that no one was injured in the attack, but services in the area have been disrupted. The region has witnessed recurring attacks over the past few days.

On Friday, Yandex, which is heavily involved in Russia’s AI development and is sometimes dubbed “Russia’s Google”, said its data centre in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow, had been struck by Ukrainian drones and partially put out of action.

A day earlier, a Ukrainian attack shut down Yandex’s data hub in Sasovo, southeast of Moscow, where two of the company’s three supercomputers used to develop its AI models were housed.

In the past, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the attacks were in response to weeks of Russian strikes on Ukrainian data centres.

Both sides have stepped up attacks on infrastructure in recent months as the war drags on. Kyiv has said that its strikes are aimed at sites that are integral to Moscow’s revenue generation.

Russian strikes on Kyiv

Last month, Russian drones struck Kyiv, killing four people and damaging a data centre. The strikes also caused internet outages affecting about 100,000 households in Kyiv and the surrounding region.

Moscow attributed the attacks to its claim that the data centres were being used by Ukrainian military intelligence. In the aftermath of the attacks, Ukraine accused Moscow of targeting civilian infrastructure.

The BQ-7 drone—a remotely-controlled B-17 Flying Fortress bomber loaded with explosives—required human pilots for takeoff and early flight, a mission that sometimes led to tragedy.

Long before the age of modern one-way attack drones like the Shahed-136 or the LUCAS, the US military experimented with turning entire bombers into flying explosives—effectively borrowing the “kamikaze” concept from the Japanese, minus the pilot.

Even more remarkably, these experiments took place at the same time as the kamikazes in the Pacific.

From 1944 onward, the US Army Air Forces launched Operation Aphrodite, a plan to convert damaged or antiquated B-17 Flying Fortress bombers into enormous radio-controlled flying bombs.

In the same manner as a Japanese kamikaze, the aircraft would be packed with explosives and flown directly into a heavily fortified German target.

Because the flight was intended as a one-way trip, and had no pilot onboard, the aircraft could be unarmored, lack machine guns and other defenses, and use worn-out engines and equipment.

Despite the technologically ambitious nature of the program, the radio-controlled technology was unreliable, and the program was written off as a failure.

Yet with 80 years of hindsight, it now seems to have predicted a major trend of modern warfare.

The BQ-7: The World’s First Remote-Controlled Military Aircraft

By the time of World War II, the idea of using radio waves to control the speed and direction of aircraft was not entirely new.

As early as 1909, French engineers had flown a miniature aircraft using wireless telegraphy at an exhibition in Paris, and in the late 1930s, brothers Walter and William Good had built the “Big Guff,” a successful remote-controlled model aircraft.

Still, it was one thing to build a small aircraft that one could fly overhead; it was another to adapt a full-size aircraft to remote control and send it off on a mission, when the distances involved would be much greater and feedback would not be immediate.

For this reason, the idea of remotely controlling aircraft sat dormant for much of the war.

A rights group reports 72 miners killed in airstrikes near Sudan's Egypt border and at least 40 people killed in a separate drone strike

Airstrikes on a gold mine near Sudan's border with Egypt reportedly killed 72 civilian miners on Saturday, while a separate drone strike near the Ethiopian border killed at least 40 people, including children, according to Sudanese rights group The Emergency Lawyers.

The group accused the Egyptian air force of carrying out the gold mine attack and blamed the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group fighting Sudan's military, for Friday's drone strike in Blue Nile state. Both casualty figures are preliminary.

Gold mine airstrikes near Egypt border

The Emergency Lawyers said the reported death toll from Saturday's airstrikes was preliminary and that efforts to document and verify the casualties were continuing.

The Sudan Doctors Network separately reported casualties among artisanal miners in the border region, citing preliminary information.

Sudan Tribune reported that fighter aircraft carried out at least five strikes on the Al-Uqaydat gold mine near the Al-Ansari mining market in Sudan's River Nile state. The outlet said it could not independently verify the casualty toll or identify the aircraft involved.

Mirghani Malik, an artisanal miner in the area, told Sudan Tribune that at least 20 injured workers were taken to the Al-Ansari market for emergency treatment.

He said hundreds of miners fled towards nearby mountain ridges, where they faced shortages of drinking water and other supplies.

Workers in the area shared images and footage that appeared to show casualties and damaged mining camps, although the material had not been independently verified.

Spokespersons for the Sudanese and Egyptian militaries did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Sudanese authorities had made no immediate public statement on the strikes.

Sudan-Egypt border tensions

The reported airstrikes come amid tensions along the Sudan-Egypt border, where Egyptian border guards have accused Sudanese prospectors of crossing the unmarked boundary to mine near sites operated by Egyptian companies.

In June, the Egyptian military said it had conducted security operations in its southern border region targeting gold prospecting, smuggling and illegal crossings.

The operations resulted in the arrest of more than 200 people, according to the military. Similar strikes in the frontier area that month also caused casualties among Sudanese miners.

Sudan's artisanal gold sector supports more than two million people and accounts for over 80% of the country's gold output.

The sector has expanded as people seek alternative livelihoods amid the conflict that erupted in April 2023.

Drone strike kills at least 40 in Sudan, rights group says

In a separate attack on Friday, a drone strike killed at least 40 people, including children, in the Abu Shandi area of Sudan's Blue Nile state near the Ethiopian border, according to the Emergency Lawyers.

The group accused the RSF of carrying out the strike. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said it was appalled by the attack.

The war between Sudan's military and the RSF has killed at least 150,000 people, according to conflict monitor ACLED, although aid groups say the actual toll is likely higher.

What does the CIA think a man needs after more than a year in captivity? A tablet of Viagra.

Evan Gershkovich, the US journalist who spent 16 months in a Russian prison accused of espionage, has revealed the unusual contents of the "recovery kit" he was issued on being freed in a prisoner swap in 2024.

On the flight home to the Andrews military base in Maryland, US, he was handed a small package.

"Typically, it's the state department who put together the recovery kits, but it was the CIA who put together these recovery kits and, in mine, they put Viagra.

"Maybe it's a smart thing – a traumatised person comes home and sees his wife for the first time in years or whatever. Or is this what the CIA brings along for its missions abroad? We couldn't figure it out," he said.

Mr Gershkovich said he had saved the pill as a "memento" of his release.

His mother had told the state department that he would like a drink of whiskey on the flight home, and an official from the Office of Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs presented him with a bottle of High West Campfire.

However, the CIA forbade him from drinking it, saying that he must be sober to meet Joe Biden, then president, when he touched down in the US.

The Wall Street Journal reporter was speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival to promote his memoir, This Cursed Beautiful Land.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested him in 2023 and he was later sentenced to 16 years in a high-security penal colony, accused of being a CIA spy.

Sixteen months later, he was released as part of the biggest prisoner exchange since the end of the Cold War.

Mr Gershkovich said he was able to cope in prison awaiting trial by setting up a routine that included reading, note-taking and backgammon. "Human beings are adaptable. You create a life," he explained.

He admitted that, when told that he was about to be released, he did not feel ready to leave because "it's really difficult to become normal again".

He had 16 months of therapy to recover after being released and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Mr Gershkovich was asked whether he was still looking over his shoulder, fearing more unwelcome attention from the FSB.But he said that he had fulfilled his purpose for the Russians as "a useful geopolitical trading chip" and now felt safe.

Why were governments and military biodefense programs already investing so heavily in plague vaccines before the current plague hysteria erupted?

As plague hysteria begins spreading across headlines around the world, there is one detail almost nobody is talking about: governments and military biodefense programs have already poured major resources into developing dozens of plague vaccines.

More than 21 plague-vaccine candidates are under development, spanning mRNA, self-amplifying RNA, recombinant protein, viral-vector, live-attenuated and other technologies

Some of the major programs include:

ISRAEL — mRNA-LNP: Tel Aviv University and the Israel Institute for Biological Research published an F1-based mRNA vaccine in 2023 and a bivalent F1/LcrV mRNA formulation against pneumonic plague in 2025. Both remain preclinical.

UK — SELF-AMPLIFYING RNA (saRNA-LNP): Researchers at Imperial College London, Institut Pasteur de Madagascar, and Dstl Porton Down published a self-amplifying RNA plague vaccine in 2023. The vaccine used two saRNA constructs encoding the F1 and V antigens of Y. pestis, delivered in lipid nanoparticles. The authors described it as the first RNA plague-vaccine approach using self-amplifying technology. It remains preclinical.

U.S. MILITARY — rF1V-1018: The Department of Defense is funding development of a plague vaccine whose clinical-trial protocol explicitly states that its proposed indication is pre-exposure protection of military personnel against pneumonic plague resulting from aerosol exposure to Y. pestis. The original rF1V candidate was developed at USAMRIID at Fort Detrick. The newer program combines it with Dynavax’s CpG 1018 adjuvant and has advanced through Phase 2 testing.

U.S. MILITARY FUNDING: Dynavax states that the program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. A new agreement worth approximately $30 million was signed in late 2024 to support additional clinical and manufacturing work through the first half of 2027, followed by another approximately $14 million in 2025 for additional nonhuman-primate studies.

OXFORD — ChAdOx1 PLAGUE VACCINE: Oxford launched a human Phase 1 trial in 2021 using the ChAdOx1 adenovirus platform—the same vaccine-platform technology used for the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Forty healthy adults were enrolled in the initial trial.

CHINA — F1+rV: Chinese researchers advanced an F1+rV subunit plague vaccine into human trials. A Phase 2a program included 240 healthy adults, and the international plague-vaccine pipeline subsequently listed the Chinese candidate in Phase 2b development.

RUSSIA — NEW MOLECULAR PLAGUE VACCINE: In April 2024, Russian regulators granted marketing authorization to a new single-dose microencapsulated molecular plague vaccine (PMMM) containing recombinant F1 and rV antigens.

Polish security services report alleged assassination plot against PM Tusk

Poland’s security services have held an urgent meeting after receiving “credible” information indicating a “high probability” of an assassination attempt against Prime Minister Donald Tusk and defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

At the time of writing, no details have been released regarding where and how the alleged attacks were expected to take place, who might be behind them, nor what the source of the information was.

On Sunday morning, Jacek Dobrzyński, the spokesman for the security services, first announced that the police had received “information…regarding a possible assassination attempt” on Tusk and Kosiniak-Kamysz, who, as well as serving as defence minister, is also a deputy prime minister.

Dobrzyński revealed that the Internal Security Agency (ABW), police and State Protection Service (SOP), which provides security for high-ranking officials, would meet to discuss the potential threat.

Speaking after that meeting, interior ministry spokeswoman Karolina Gałecka confirmed that the threat had first been identified by SOP, which passed the information on to the police.

“We are taking this matter extremely seriously,” added Dobrzyński, speaking alongside her. He criticised “pseudo-experts” in the media who had expressed doubt about the announcement of a possible assassination attempt.

“We’re talking about threats directed at the most important people in the country,” he added. “This information is so serious and credible that we’ve decided to share it with you now…We are talking about a high probability that these threats will be carried out.”

Dobrzyński did not divulge any details about the nature of the attack nor where the warnings had come from, but said that he would be able to provide further information once the police and security services had carried out further investigation.

Government spokesman Adam Szłapka, speaking to broadcaster TVN, acknowledged that the authorities constantly receive a “cascade of indications” regarding potential threats.However, “this signal was more disturbing than previous” ones, he added.

Szłapka also indicated that one element of the warning had come via email, but added that “it was not just an email” that had raised concern. Like Dobrzyński, he said that further information would be released in due course.

Gazeta Wyborcza, a leading daily, reports that an unnamed “official close to the prime minister” had said that the threat came from “right-wing extremists” and that the perpetrators were Poles.

Another source within the intelligence services told the newspaper that the threat was treated more seriously than others because it contained information about addresses linked to Tusk and Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Last month, police detained a 56-year-old man in the city of Przemyśl after he posted a video on social media threatening Tusk. Earlier in September, a 52-year-old man in the town of Oława was likewise arrested for making criminal threats against the prime minister online.

Also in September, the security services detained three teenagers who were accused of being part of online groups promoting neo-Nazism and violence. One of them was additionally charged with planning terrorist attacks on targets including a mosque and a school.

This week has also seen Poland facing an unprecedented security challenge after three knife attacks took place on schools, leaving one person dead and many injured.

In response, the police have since Friday carried out checks at over 64,000 locations, including many schools, and detained over 100 people, most of them teenagers found to have made threats or been in possession of weapons.

More Tankers Hit in Hormuz as U.S. Strikes Cargo Ship

Two more tankers have been struck by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz, while U.S. forces have disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman, adding to a growing series of attacks and military incidents involving merchant shipping across the region.

The latest incidents come amid a sharp escalation in attacks on commercial vessels, including recent strikes against tankers inside the Persian Gulf, well beyond the Strait of Hormuz.

According to UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), an outbound tanker was struck on its port side by an unknown projectile at approximately 1920 UTC on Saturday, October 10, causing a fire onboard. The crew was reported safe, although the extent of the damage and any environmental impact remained unknown.

A second incident was reported on Sunday, October 11, when the company security officer of another outbound tanker reported that the vessel had been struck on its port side by an unidentified projectile. UKMTO said the vessel sustained damage, but all crew members were safe and no environmental impact had been reported.

Neither vessel was identified, and UKMTO did not attribute responsibility for the attacks.

The two incidents follow a particularly violent stretch for commercial shipping in the region.

On Friday, a tanker identified by maritime security sources as the Panama-flagged crude carrier GEM NO.2was struck by a projectile while anchored approximately 13 nautical miles west of Al Jazeera, United Arab Emirates. The attack caused a fire that was subsequently extinguished.

The strike came just two days after another tanker was hit by multiple projectiles off the coast of Qatar, marking a concerning expansion of attacks beyond the Strait of Hormuz itself.

Iran has stepped up attacks and threats against commercial vessels in recent weeks, particularly ships attempting to use routes through Hormuz that have not been authorized by Iranian authorities. The latest strikes reinforce concerns that the threat to shipping is no longer confined to vessels transiting the narrow waterway.

Meanwhile, the United States has continued its own military operations against commercial vessels attempting to enter or leave Iranian ports.

In a statement issued Saturday, U.S. Central Command said an American fighter jet struck the stern of the Panama-flagged cargo vessel Ocean Molica, also known as Arika Sun, after its crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to violate the U.S. naval blockade against Iran.

CENTCOM said the precision strike disabled the vessel’s propulsion without injuring the crew. The ship had previously departed an Iranian port.

The incident marks the fourth commercial vessel disabled since U.S. forces resumed their blockade of Iranian ports on July 14, according to CENTCOM.

The command said U.S. forces have also turned around 135 commercial ships and destroyed 10 tankers linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ shadow fleet network during the same period.

The blockade is part of Washington’s effort to prevent maritime trade with Iran, even as U.S. officials maintain that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to international shipping.

The latest developments underscore the increasingly difficult security environment facing commercial operators. Ships attempting to pass through Hormuz face the threat of Iranian attacks and intimidation, while vessels calling at Iranian ports risk interception or disabling strikes by U.S. forces.

The danger has also spread beyond the Strait itself, with recent attacks reported off Qatar and the UAE, alongside continued military activity in the Gulf of Oman.

UKMTO issued two additional advisories Saturday. In one, several shipmasters near Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, reported receiving VHF broadcasts directing them to leave their anchorages. In another, UKMTO reported an incident involving a tanker and military forces in the Gulf of Oman, without providing further details.

It was not immediately clear whether the Gulf of Oman advisory was related to the U.S. strike against Ocean Molica.

The U.S.-led Joint Maritime Information Center warned Thursday that attacks had become more frequent and called for increased vigilance by crews and closer monitoring by the shipping industry.

Despite repeated assurances from Washington that the Strait of Hormuz is open and under U.S. control, the latest incidents highlight the continuing risks of operating in the region, where commercial vessels and their crews remain exposed to attacks by both sides of the conflict.

The time has come for Elon Musk to join efforts to build a 70-mile underwater tunnel linking Russia and the US, Russian presidential aide Kirill Dmitriev has said.

Dmitriev, who also heads Russia’s sovereign wealth fund (RDIF), first proposed the project in October 2025, describing it as a link thatwould “symbolize unity” and saying it would spur resource exploration, create jobs, and boost both economies. The tunnel would run under the Bering Strait, which is 51 miles wide at its narrowest point and separates Russia’s Chukotka Region from Alaska in the US.

“Time for The Boring Company to start working on the Putin-Trump tunnel that would unite Russia and the US, Eurasia and the Americas,” Dmitriev said in a post on X on Sunday, tagging the US-based billionaire.

Dmitriev’s appeal cameafter Musk posted that Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky “has gone too far.” Musk’s remark followed US President Donald Trump’s call for Ukraine to elect a new president.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Ukraine, and Zelensky personally, for exacerbating the global fuel crisis, accusing authorities in Kiev of deliberately targeting Russian refining facilities and driving up energy prices. Earlier this week, the US president approved a temporary waiver of sanctions on Russian fuel exports shortly after a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The move has been condemned by Zelensky as “weak.”

The tunnel idea echoes a Cold War-era proposal for a “Khrushchev-Kennedy Bridge” linking the two countries. Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna released declassified Soviet files on the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy this week. The 350-page collection included material on the proposed bridge.

Dmitriev first proposed the tunnel two months after Putin and Trump met in Alaska in August 2025 to discuss efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict. The summit marked thefirst top-level direct contact between Moscow and Washington following the escalation of the conflict.

The presidential aide has estimated that the project could cost more than $65 billion using conventional technology, but said that the Boring Company’s methods could cut the price by 90%, to under $8 billion, and allowconstruction to be completed within eight years. The RDIF is ready to participate, he said, citing the fund’s role in building a rail bridge linking Russia and China.

Earlier this year, Dmitriev announced thatthe fund had signed an agreement to continue designing the tunnel, with further steps expected by the end of the year.

Oblivious Hollywood dullard Stephen King had the audacity on Thursday to ask folks on social media why a blatantly conservative TV series didn’t get nominated for an Emmy Award this year.

The Paramount+ series, “Landman,” is as right-wing as it gets — it’s pro-oil, anti-woke, and features a plethora of golden rants about green energy, electric vehicles, and other stupid liberal ideas.

The fact that King, a leftist if ever there were one, even likes the show is shocking unto itself. Less shocking is the obliviousness it took for the pompous liberal to wonder why the show was being snubbed.

“I don’t understand why LANDMAN didn’t get nominated for Emmy awards,” King wrote on social media platform X. “Particularly Billy Bob Thornton for best actor and Stephen Kay for best director. Is it politics, or what?”

Yes, Stephen, it is politics!

As noted by one X user responding to King’s post, it’s the same politics behind the equally conservative series “Yellowstone” never receiving an Emmy nomination.

Zeroing in on the exact politics in question, another X user rightly noted howthe show “exposes ‘Green’ initiatives for the lies they are.”

“Yes, it’s political,” the X user added. “Are you really that big of a fool not to see it?”

Yes, actually, he is! I mean, he’s a man with a rich, rich history of ignorant and just plain dumb remarks.

And it really does take an impressive level of ignorance to not see the writing on the wall, especially as it pertains to such a right-wing show:

In one especially popular scene, actor Billy Bob Thornton’s character in the show ranted and raved about the insanity of giant concrete wind turbines.

“Do you have any idea how much diesel they have to burn to mix that much concrete?” Thornton’s character asked. “Or make that steel and haul this s*** out here and put it together with a 450-foot crane? You want to guess how much oil it takes to lubricate that f*ing thing or winterize it?”

“And don’t get me started on solar panels and the lithium in your Tesla battery. And never mind the fact that if the whole world decided to go electric tomorrow, we don’t have the transmission lines to get the electricity to the cities. It’d take 30 years if we started tomorrow.”

One X user argued that this rant was the exact reason why the show has been snubbed:

King isn’t the only one to notice the snubbing.

Complex, a mostly left-wing magazine, noted in a July report that the show “walked away from the 2026 Emmy nominations without a single major nomination, extending one of television’s strangest streaks.”

“Billy Bob Thornton, Sam Elliott, and the series itself were all shut out, even after Landman entered awards season with momentum from SAG recognition, Critics’ Choice attention, Golden Globe buzz, and its first major industry win at the ACM Honors,” the magazine added.

Again, the reason why is so obvious to anyone with the slightest awareness of Hollywood’s gross far-left political activism — activism that King himself has repeatedly participated in.

If King had an iota of awareness, he’d understand what’s happening and not need to ask questions like these. But as usual, he doesn’t have a clue.
