 No.6638

As an intro to David Lynch, should I watch Mulholland Drive or Blue Velvet?

 No.6639

I think that it's better to start with Eraserhead.

 No.6641

Eraserhead is a good introduction if you like "enigma" films with lot of symbology hiding its meaning in a puzzle way.

Mullholand drive is a somewhat easy to watch film compared to Eraserhead, and is one of those movies you want to rewatch many times, because in each view you get a different glimpse of its enigma, much like Donnie Darko in a way.

Haven't watched Blue Velvet yet.

I've seen half of Blue Velvet but I agree with the other comments. Try Eraserhead > Lost Highway > Mulholland Drive then whatever else.

By the way has anyone gone back to Inland Empire? Is it redeemable at all? Lynch seemed to lose his way by getting obsessed with Hollywood.
