I am not drinking the water. I am sure the fecal content is a bit high, but the water is clear. You can see the bottom of the river.

I'm not very familiar with mushrooms but some googling makes me think it's a type of Termitomyces (termite mushroom). Maybe "Termitomyces fuliginosus Heim"? Or perhaps a "mamarang" (Termitomyces cartilagineus)?

They tend to be edible but I would check with a mushroom expert before using them as an ingredient.

Thanks for the ID. I am going to need to find some volunteers to taste them, before I get up the guts. If they don't perish, then I will give them a try.
