What a rough week. Infinity Next is simply not working so disregard what I said about posting on the beta site. Post wherever works best for you and we'll worry about retaining those posts later. It's better to have some activity, any activity, than to wait and wait and wait for a site migration that never seems to come.

The beta site is slow and often unavailable (it's down again now in fact). It's missing many features and does not work with some browsers. I won't be heartbroken if they give up on the project because technical issues and meta drama could easily become ongoing distractions. I just want a simple functional imageboard where people can discuss film. I might set up a bunker on another chan so we have an alternate posting location for any future downtime and clusterfuckery on 8chan.

I think Josh is going to try to get the Next software to work on the same server. If that does not work, Plan B is to fix vichan (the current site) somehow.

Yes indeed. The most recent status update ( https://ghostbin.com/paste/vwuwd ) mentions a possible third attempted migration at the end of the month.

HW says on twitter he is working on "vichan modernization" which is what I would prefer at this point - just fix this site. But for now that is not the primary option.

There's a sitewide poll ( http://poal.me/1kvhve ) about what people want to do moving forward -- fix Vichan, try Lynxchan ( http://lynxhub.com/ ), or attempt to salvage Next. Fix Vichan is currently winning.

I don't know of other film imageboards, either realtime or not. Realtime was suggested for Next but most people didn't seem to like it.

Board Watch is a similar feature I wish we had though. You'd be notified of new posts on designated boards without checking them.

One more note to follow up on something mentioned above: I've set up an experimental alt board here:

You can use the board as a bunker in case this one goes down for maintenance, upgrades, DDoS, etc. You can also use it as a direct download hoster for files up to 350 MB. I'm using it to become familiar with Lynxchan, which might be the software that 8chan uses eventually:
