The docks outside U-Tiki Beach restaurant are no longer public.
But they’re not private docks, either.
Jupiter Town Council on Tuesday night voted on a compromise, making the docks “private transient.”
That means the docks are now controlled by U-Tiki management but are still open to the public.
The issue arose when U-Tiki owner Jim Taube went to council, complaining about disturbances on the docks.
He went to council with a long list of problems.
“More times than I can count, we’ve had males urinating and vomiting off boats,” he told council members.
“On hundreds of occasions, we’ve had unattended preschool children left on board boats, allowed to wander our dock unsupervised while the parents party on other boats,” he continued.
Taube also told a story about one of his employees having to catch a two-year-old child before she fell into the water.
He said the girl’s father was passed out drunk on the boat.
