I discovered philosophy from Trigun. I could have stopped there and been smarter than the adults, but my older brother who is 14 and a genuis showed me Final Fantasy. He has studied the story his whole life teach and wants to start a class to teach about Final Fantasy theology at a university. He says he needs to teach kids to live with nature again and care for gaia or ancient guardians will be awakened to destroy us.

I wish I had a fraction of the erudite drive of this man. He spent a 1000 hours over several months learning cuneiform to write a message to his girlfriend, even shutting himself in his apartment and avoiding her for weeks so he would have more time to do it. Then he spent another 1000 hours trying to decode an untranslated puzzling tablet that has a length of two short pages, even though hardly anyone cares what it says. The characters are way more complicated than Chinese too, and it is much harder to write in rapidly drying clay.

The science is undeniable that the climate will change, is changing, and has changed. The question is whether man can or should do anything to stop a natural cycle. Christian theology certainly considered nature an object to be used for man and Francis Bacon continued this into a mechanistic view that nature is to be conquered in the service of man.
The complexity of the global climate at present is not even as well understood as an economic market, so any predictions are naturally imperfect. We also cannot be sure of the appropriate course of action due to the immense complexity. Finally, the morality of choices meant for the greater good could harm, but we must but aside these concerns as the "greater good" must --whatever the course of action-- take priority.
So it's simply a matter of putting aside ontology, not dwelling on epistimology, and using a bit of fortune telling to make a blindfolded utilitarian ethics choice because inaction is always bad. Or something.
