Brazilian Justice Minister Sergio Moro and federal prosecutors scrambled to respond on Monday to reports published by news website The Intercept based on what it said were leaked messages from a corruption probe.

The Intercept said it was only beginning to report on an “enormous trove” of leaked messages between Moro and prosecutors on Telegram, an encrypted messaging platform, that it had received from an anonymous source. It said the messages raise serious questions about the impartiality of Moro, a former judge who sent ex-President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to prison.

The man coordinating North Macedonia’s upcoming NATO membership won the country’s presidential election, defeating a candidate who opposed a name-change.

Stevo Pendarovski got 52 percent in Sunday’s ballot, according to the Electoral Commission, with 99 percent of polling stations counted. Nationalist opposition candidate Gordana Siljanovska Davkova had 45 percent.

Syria said Israel carried out a missile attack that caused casualties on Monday, in what Israel's army said was a retaliatory strike.

"An Israeli missile targeted Tel al-Shaar in Quneitra," the Syrian news agency said, adding a "military vehicle was targeted and there are wounded".

The Israeli military confirmed it carried out an air strike in Syria in retaliation for what it said was anti-aircraft fire targeting one of its fighter jets.

Thousands of protesters gathered in 200 cities across Brazil on Wednesday, to demonstrate against Jair Bolsonaro’s controversial education policies.

Brazil’s National Student Union called for the rallies after accusing the far-right leader of cutting education funding.

The country’s education ministry had earlier announced that it was freezing nearly a quarter of discretionary government spending.

All language editions of Wikipedia have been blocked in mainland China since April, the Wikimedia basis has confirmed.

Web censorship researchers discovered that Wikipedia had joined hundreds of different web sites which can’t be accessed in China.

The higher education watchdog, The Office for Students (OfS), is to launch a major review later this year into the university admissions system.

It follows concern from ministers that universities have been engaging in “unethical” practises such as “pressure selling” unconditional offers to students.

While the OfS cannot dictate how individual universities make their offers, they are able to change the structures that govern the admissions system.

A helicopter crashed into a building in the Manhattan borough of New York City on June 10, prompting a huge response from emergency responders.

The Fire Department of New York said that firefighters were on the scene of the crash.

The helicopter crashed at 787 7th Avenue, the department said.

Nearby buildings were evacuated.

Hundreds of illegal aliens from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa, which is currently experiencing a massive Ebola virus outbreak, have been dropped off in San Antonio, Texas and hundreds more will arrive in the near future.

A local news reporter looking for French-speaking volunteers to communicate with the individuals made a request on Twitter.

“City confirms hundreds of migrants from the Congo have arrived in SA. The city is in desperate need for French-speaking volunteers,” Jaleesa Irizarry of Kens 5 San Antonio wrote on Thursday.

A helicopter crash-landed on the roof of a 54-story office building in midtown Manhattan Monday, sparking a fire and killing at least one person, authorities say.

A call about the incident at the AXA Equitable Center on Seventh Avenue and West 51st Street came in shortly before 2 p.m. The NYPD confirmed the hard landing on the roof of 787 Seventh Avenue; it wasn't clear why the chopper would have tried to land there, nor was it clear who owned the chopper.

A senior official told News 4 the pilot, identified by a manager at Linden Municipal Airport as Tim McCormack, had just dropped off a passenger at the East 34th Steet heliport, and may have been making his way back to the chopper's base in Linden, New Jersey, when the crash occurred.

An Ohio jury has ordered Oberlin College to pay $11 million to a bakery which said it was libeled and wrongfully accused of racially profiling students.

The case stems from the November 2016 arrests of three black Oberlin students at Gibson’s Bakery and market near the college’s campus in Oberlin, Ohio.

One student, Jonathan Aladin, was accused of attempted robbery for allegedly trying to “steal wine or otherwise illegally obtain wine” from the bakery, according to a defamation lawsuit. He would eventually confess in a written statement to buying alcohol illegally.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine will give an update to Miami Valley tornado recovery during a stop in Dayton Monday morning.

The Governor is visit Trimble, a company that makes GPS-enabled civil engineering, construction, transportation and logistics technology. DeWine will spend the morning touring the 65,000 square-foot indoor research and development dome and training center.

Once his tour is complete, the Governor is expected to give an update on FEMA's recent tour of damage caused by the tornado outbreak on Memorial Day.

Governor DeWine will outline the next steps for the area following FEMA's preliminary damage assessment.

Police in Santa Ana have booked a 38-year-old woman Saturday morning after she allegedly posed as a social worker and tried to walk off with a newborn baby.

The woman apparently said it’s all a big misunderstanding. After seeing herself on TV in earlier broadcast reports, the woman walked into the Santa Ana police station to turn herself in.

What the woman did — or didn’t do — remains a mystery.

CBS2/KCAL9’s Stacey Butler reported from Santa Ana where she spoke to the worried mother.

She says that the woman came knocking on her door and tried to take her baby.
