Huawei has had a bad few weeks, as US companies responded to the Trump ban one after another. Whether it’s hardware such as chips from Intel or ARM, or whether it’s software like Google’s Android or Microsoft’s Windows, Huawei can’t import it from American technology companies until the ban is resolved. And Facebook is the latest big name in tech that responded to the prohibition by suspending app preinstalls on Huawei phones that are yet to leave factories. The move means nothing for Huawei’s Chinese market, but not being able to preload apps like Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, all Facebook properties on Huawei devices sold in other international markets can be a massive problem for the company.

Japan is calling for further efforts to cut its carbon emissions by promoting renewable energy while also pushing nuclear power despite its 2011 Fukushima nuclear plant disaster.

An energy policy paper, adopted by the cabinet on Friday, said Japan faces the urgent task of reducing carbon emissions by utilities that rely heavily on fossil fuel plants to make up for shortages of cleaner nuclear energy. The call comes as nuclear reactors around Japan are slowly being restarted - despite lingering anti-nuclear sentiment since the Fukushima crisis - after being shut down to meet tougher safety standards.

Traffic destined for some of Europe's biggest mobile providers was misdirected in a roundabout path through the Chinese-government-controlled China Telecom on Thursday, in some cases for more than two hours, an Internet-monitoring service reported. It's the latest event to stoke concerns about the security of the Internet's global routing system, known as the Border Gateway Protocol.

The incident started around 9:43am UTC on Thursday (2:43am California time). That's when AS21217, the autonomous system belonging to Switzerland-based data center colocation company Safe Host, improperly updated its routers to advertise it was the proper path to reach what eventually would become more than 70,000 Internet routes comprising an estimated 368 million IP addresses. China Telecom's AS4134, which struck a network peering arrangement with Safe Host in 2017, almost immediately echoed those routes rather than dropping them, as proper BGP filtering practices dictate. In short order, a large number of big networks that connect to China Telecom began following the route.

The Chinese government reportedly summoned major technology companies this week, including notable semiconductor firms, according to a new report from The New York Times. The purpose was to warn them that they will face dire consequences if they comply with the Trump administration’s efforts to ban sales of American technology to Chinese companies.

YouTube has reportedly begun removing historical and educational videos relating to the Nazi regime as a result of a campaign by leftist Vox journalist and Youtube censorship advocate Carlos Maza. Failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton claimed Saturday that one “cannot read” special counsel Robert Mueller’s report without concluding that President Donald Trump committed obstruction of justice.

A South American flight attendant and her U.S. girlfriend were attacked and left bloodied after a gang of men attacked them on a bus in the U.K.

Melania Geymonat, 28, from Uruguay was riding the bus with her girlfriend Chris after an evening out in West Hampstead, London, in the early hours of Thursday, May 30.

Geymonat, who lives in Bishop's Stortford in Essex and works for budget airline Ryanair, says they sat at the front of the double-decker bus when a group of men behind them noticed they were a couple and started to demand they kiss while making crude sexual gestures.
