I always found it bizarre to even talk with LARPagans, at best they don't even know what they mean by "god". Charlie for example seems to believe a "god" is just a human who was relevant to history. And that these "great humans" live on after death or never die in the first place and bring misfortune and death to anyone who doesn't respect them. At least that's what I gather from his posts here.

It also doesn't help he had a communist education.

What other boards/websites do you visit?

I go to 8/pol/ but the place is….what it is. Last time I was on 4chan I got dragged into seeing sexually explicit images, borderline pornography. I like /pdfs/ to get books but other than that this is like the only place I visit regularly…

Is there somewhere else to go?

We had this exact thread five weeks ago. To reiterate, the size of the universe is as important a detail to the grand scheme of things as is the difference between a red apple and a green apple. It's only your preconception that "big=important" that makes you beg the question—a preconception which has no real basis; it's just sentimentality.

Be not excessive in your mortifications, reasonable and fair in your expectations, build upon your earlier successes for the glory of God. What I mean is, if you struggle with it so much then aim first to control your impulse to masturbate.

I started smoking again rather than masturbate since I reasoned that it was easier for me to quit (having done numerious times and for years at a time) and only a venial sin if not in excess I mean amirite cmon. That didn’t work since I started beating it again when I quit smoking with finality, but I have since put a good end to both with intentioned prayer and God’s grace.

What matters most is the struggle and effort you put in, and that you make space in your mind for holiness.

Stop using the internet so much. If you failed a test and got news of these shootings all the way over wherever and it effected you that deep, scrutinize your Internets usage. Get off the Facebook or something, quit the games. There’s a whole network of related impulses there. Quit staring at the screen.

>what does pagan philosophy and culture

because a philosophical system is a cogent rational system, not an ideology or a religion. when Aquinas took Aristotelianism, he followed the example of St. Jerome and Greek rhetoric/literature, "…in Deuteronomy the command given by the voice of the Lord that when a captive woman had had her head shaved, her eyebrows and all her hair cut off, and her nails pared, she might then be taken to wife…desire to make that secular wisdom which is my captive and my handmaid, a matron of the True Israel…"

It is a common mistake to reduce Thomism/Scholasticism as some sort of ideology or religion in and of itself, and not a coherent philosophical system merely based on the Greeks, with the merit of also being informed by Divine Revelation.

Is it sign? Huge wooden cross washes ashore on Fort Lauderdale beach…

A large cross washed ashore over the weekend behind a hotel along Galt Ocean Mile in Fort Lauderdale.

http://archive.today/2019.02.06-161355/https://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/fort-lauderdale/fl-lauderdale-cross-comes-ashore-20190205-story.html

Bales of drugs, derelict vessels, seaweed, whales, and driftwood are among the many items to wash up on South Florida’s beaches, but the latest flotsam and jetsam has made believers of some beach-goers. A very large, barnacle-encrusted, wooden cross washed ashore behind the Ocean Manor Beach Resort along Galt Ocean Mile in Fort Lauderdale, during the weekend. “It is fantastic,” said Mary Ann Smolinski, visiting from Michigan. “It’s amazing. Very spiritual.”

A group of people dragged it up onto the beach from the water’s edge behind the hotel at 4040 Galt Ocean Drive, she said. “We were just lying on the beach and we saw a crowd of people around and I just got up to see what was going on,” said Smolinski. “It was a cross that was laying right in the water.” John Skorupa, 74, of Fort Lauderdale, said he was walking along the beach early Saturday afternoon when he came upon the cross swaying in the surf and he took a few pictures. “It was 20 foot long, like railroad ties,” he said. “Really big, really big.” Speculation around the hotel tiki bar was lively. Everyone has a theory about where it came from, Skorupa said.

Yes, that's a sign that someone threw some wood over the side of a boat.

Or a storm broke some wood off someone's yard and washed it out to sea.

Or, it could be that some random pieces of wood were just floating out to sea and then the angels took a nail that crucified Christ and nailed the two pieces together and made that. OML, it's HOLY RELIC> QUICK! VENERATE IT!!

Is it a sin to use psychedelics? What about just microdosing where there is no possibility of encountering spirits? What if while tripping you completely refuse to talk to any spirits?

I do know that tripping allows demons to speak to you, but I wonder if its redeemable whatsoever. I did read one interpretation of the Old Testament that manna (Exodus 16) is identical in appearance to mushrooms. Also sorry for the DMT Ape Man talking point but what about the burning bush? It seems there is some precedence for psychedelics to be used in order to communicate with God or His messengers. Perhaps if you scrutinized and tested each entity you encounter ( 1 John 4:1) you may avoid displeasing The Lord. Here is a relevant excerpt from Orthodoxy: Religion of the Future by Seraphim Rose.

>"St. Gregory of Sinai was careful to instruct his monks on the dangers of these experiences: “All around, near to beginners and the self-willed, the demons are wont to spread the nets of thoughts and pernicious fantasies and prepare moats for their downfall….” A monk asked him: “What is a man to do when the demon takes the form of an angel of light?” The Saint replied: “In this case a man needs great power of discernment to discriminate rightly between good and evil. So in your heedlessness, do not be carried away too quickly by what you see, but be weighty (not easy to move) and, carefully testing everything, accept the good and reject the evil. Always you must test and examine, and only afterwards believe. Know that the actions of grace are manifest, and the demon, in spite of his transformations, cannot produce them: namely, meekness, friendliness, humility, hatred of the world, cutting off passions and lusts — which are the effects of grace.Works of the demons are: arrogance, conceit, intimidation and all evil. By such actions you will be able to discern whether the light shining in your heart is of God or of satan. Lettuce looks like mustard, and vinegar in color like wine; but when you taste them the palate discerns and defines the difference between each. In the same way the soul, if it has discernment, can discriminate by mental taste the gifts of the Holy Spirit from the fantasies and illusions of Satan.”

Just because Jesus turned water into wine doesn't mean we ought to abuse the gift of alcohol that God the Father gave us. Drunkenness is still a sin.

And no alcohol is not the same as pharmakeia. Only pagans poison themselves with drugs like LSD, weed, shrooms, etc. don't give me that "but pagans didn't have MDMA, LSD, DMT and other hard drugs" you know very well if the technology existed back than they would be using that as well.

There is no "new stuff" I am gleaning from the DSS, and since you keep repeating this stupid straw-man argument, I'd like you to point out what exactly this "new stuff" I am "gleaning".

In disregarding the Church, you have no choice but to automatically accept whatever is old because of your sad and tortured misreading of 1 Peter 1:23. Just because something is old, does not make it the Word of God, what makes it the Word of God is the authority of the Church.

The only legitimacy is the proclamation of the Church, your idea of legitimacy is whatever the KJV has in it, which the rest of Christianity cannot take seriously, even Luther would have cocked his head at these strange Americans proclaiming the KJV is the authentic Word of God.

Actually the Italian Bible during and some time before Luther had alone in the book of romans. While the original language doesn't have "alone" in the text, it based on the conclusion of the language, which wasn't really controversial until Christian's pointed it out to Catholics.

Luther didn't remove anything, in fact, most reformed Bibles contained the same numbers of books as modern Catholic books, until the 1800's, and without much explanation, the uninspired books disappeared from the biblical literature. I suspect the publishing companies wanted to make bibles cheaper, so they cut literal corners to do so.

Of course, there are retards who don't understand Bible history think Luther decanonized the apocryphal books when actually his views wasn't that unusual, since the most popular Biblical commentary for late medieval theologians claimed that """""""deuteronomical"""""""" books weren't part of the Canon. Heck, even Luther opponents don't view those books as canon.

They were canonized when the issue was forced. If it turns out they were inspired despite your claims, it is something you will have to bear before the Judgement.

How do I stop having blasphemous intrusive thoughts? I don't really believe the things I've thought and I don't want to repeat them here, but just know that they are extremely crass and blasphemous. I feel like I can't help it, they pop into my head at random and I feel like I'm being tortured.

Good Lord, help us. The autistic posts here from both sides reminds me why I left this board some time ago in the first place. It's toxic.

Hey buddy, how about we calm down for a minute?

>depression/anxiety are spiritual

They actually aren’t. If this was the case, then meds wouldn’t be around and people would report on them being useless. Inb4 yes I know antidepressants have a 50% chance of helping but you have to take into consideration other medication as well

>big pharma=bad

How is it such a scam? Do you have anything to back that up?

>automatically assumes I’m doing something wrong like porn

You know I can be doing everything right (for the most part) and bad things can still happen to me, right? Mental illness isn’t always a result of sin

>turning board into my hole of pity

Geez, I thought us Christians would be open to helping other people instead of whining about how we don’t want to hear their problems. And I’m not Op, but they had every right to come here and ask for advice on something that is hurting their spiritual life

Just came home and opened the thread and I see how rude I came across, and I apologise. Don't think I even read your post correctly and just made a snarky comment for no apparent reason. Yeah I'm a retard, sorry.

In spite of that, why did christian monarchs go to war, convert others by the sword, and other atrocities? Did Christ ever slay a man on earth?

not a JW. Jesus is God.

If God is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent, He ultimately decides who lives and who dies.

this is not heresy in the slightest.

Yes, but he also prayed for them while dying on the cross.. and then many Pharisees and other Jews later converted after Pentecost. He simply wanted to kick them out of the temple. Not kill them.

We must imitate this. Or in his own words, "Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven."

It's one thing to see the initial reasons, say, for the Crusades as decent. It was defensive. But the idea of preaching through the sword is evil and will bear no good fruit. A person may as well be a Muslim themselves if that's how they behave.
